On me, this scent was really dominated by rosewood, and maybe the bergamot a little too. It smells dry and rich at the same time, like well kept up furniture, but in a good way. I think it's the musk and sandalwood that give it that kind of rich feeling. Unfortunately, it was gone by lunchtime. If this scent lasted longer, I would be all about a 5ml

Wow, this one really tricked me. In the vial, it smelled just like Spellbound, and since there was no description to warn me, I put on as much as I would have if I was putting on Spellbound. La la la, I go aroung for about 5 minutes obliviously... then WHAM! Ambergris? Musk? Something like that... All I know, is that I could have given a ferret a run for it's money. I smelled like at least a dozen wild animals rolled into one. oh, and roses. EDIT: Merged with existing thread. This isn't an upcoming scent; it's been discontinued. --Shollin

I've got to say none of the 4. If you get at all nervous while you're interviewing, your skin will heat up, and the scent will be stronger. Also, You never know if you might not be interviewing in a small room, which may also make your perfume seem to smell stronger. Your interviewer may be allergic to some scents, or very sensitive to smells, or just plain might feel that strong perfume is not "professional." If you want a little something for yourself, I'd put the tiniest dab in your cleavage, so you can smell it if you tip your head down, but nobody else can. And in that case, I'd just pick whichever of the 4 makes you feel best.

JazzieCazzie, there's been no indication that there was a finite amount of the discontinued scents. So if you got the order in, you'll get the scent. Based on the post's the lab has made about how they pull down orders, they are harvested in two week blocks (two weeks worth of orders, not harvested every two weeks) after the last block of orders has been filled. This seems to be entirely independent of the update timing, so they would not have harvested the yule update/discontinued orders before they had filled the previous orders, and judging from the C'n'S thread, they're still working on Samhain and Harvest Moon orders.

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

My boyfriend rarely says much of anything about my scents. (other than that I smell "good" - if I ask) but he *loves* Samhain. Maybe I should swap for more. ;-) -
I got a weird blend of florals and spices... maybe spicy florals? It's hard to say. It doesn't smell church-y to me at all, not like Cathedral or Sin. It's nice enough, but on me it faded quickly, all gone in half a day.

I didn't get any pine at all... I got all citrus. Lemon zest, maybe a little lemon verbena. It was hard to tell, because it's *super* light. I couldn't put on enough to get a really strong impression, and it was completely gone within two hours. :-(

I'm not overly excited about Samhain, but my boyfriend loves it, so it'll go into heavy rotation. It's definately a spicy cidery scent, but, on me, it smells just like Three Witches, but a little sweeter and more apple (though I'm almost the only person who smells apples in Three Witches in the first place) I like it, but I like Three Witches better. --- Dec 31st: Nevermind, I was wrong. It grew on me and it is now one of my top 5 BPAL's *ever*

On me, probably around 3 months, maybe more... I get 20-30 wearings out of an imp. I'm also one of those people who amplify scents.

I'm going to be dressed as a pirate. A menacing pirate with spectacular cleavage. I'll be wearing Anne Bonny.

Wet: Smells like the aftermath the morning after a building across from me burned down, acrid, and overall just oddly disturbing. I agree that it definately smells "gritty". I don't usually get all emotional about oils, but this smell makes me really uncomfortable, there's something really destructive in the scent that I just don't like. As it's drying, there's more of an incensy kind of smell coming out, but I still don't like it.

Mmm. I could just eat myself. I am all almondy and wonderful. I am sure that there is both tobacco and vanilla in here. It's like vanilla pipe tobacco and dulce de leche poured over almonds.

If I sniff at Mata Hari carefully, I can teel that it's roses and jasmine and all, but all blended together, it smells exactly like Lily of the Valley. I'm going to have to give it another try, it was very sweet on me, but I think I may warm up to it.

Nine Mysteries, to me, smells dead on like Mad Hatter. I'm just not excited by the whole mint-and-florals combination. I can only recommend this one to anyone who already likes Beth's other minty blends.

This has got to be the dryest sandalwood scent I've ever tried. There's nothing warm to this scent on me at all. I was about to say that it started out powdery, but that's not right... it started out dusty. Three hours after I put it on, it's almost gone. It's a pretty scent, in it's own way, but it's very sad. I prefer more vibrant scents, and this one is just not. It's everything the description implies.

Definately very masculine. It starts with a strong patchouli note that mellows pretty quickly. It's a lot like Greed at first (but less smooth). Once it's settled down, it's a very earthy smell. In fact, it smells a lot like dirt and weeds, but not in a nasty way, but it's the smell of pulling weeds in the garden. On a cloudy day, though. This isn't a sunny scent. Anyway, it's very masculine, but I like it.

Wow. The perfect scent of Robotussin. ;-) The cherry-ness mellowed over the course of the day, and it definately got more wood-like. This middle time reminded me a lot of Cathedral. Now that it's dry, it's just a little vanilla-ish. This one lasted for most of the workday on me, which is definately unusual. I don't think I want a 5ml of this, but I have this weird feeling that it's going to grow on me.

I've got Chaos Theory XLII In the bottle, I can't really pin down any notes... tropical fruit? something like that. Wet, it's tropical fruit and melted butter, but it's settling really quickly. There's flowers in here too, but I think they're not normal flowers. It's not rose or "white florals", maybe it's orchids? No coconut, though. Now that it's drying, it's really mixing with my own scent. It smells like my skin, if my skin was made of tropical Starburst candies? It's hard to describe, but it's definately not one where you just smell the oil, I am willing to bet it's very very skin-chemistry sensitive. I'm not really into the whole tropical thing, so I wont be freaking out that I can't get more. But it is awfully pretty, and I can see myself wearing it occationally. Good for a day at Six Flags, or some other very summery event.

Wow, this is an amazingly *different* scent. It smells like ashes and metal (how does Beth make a perfume smell metalic?) in the vial and wet. As it dries down, I'm also getting the cloying sweetness that other people have mentioned. This is an amazingly complex scent, but, ugh, on me it smells like the day after a building has burnt wafting over a sticky-rotting-sweet orchid/lily smell.

No, don't look at it like that... You are not so much paying for the item, as you are paying for the service of having it made. (you could buy EO's and mix them together yourself, but it wouldn't quite be the same. ) Anyway, so since the interviewing and development process begins as soon as you pay, there isn't a gap between when you pay and when you begin recieving the service you're paying for.

Ack!!! I hope Havisham holds out until the first Lunacy blend goes on sale, because I was hoping to hold out on putting in a new order (I just ordered June Gloom) until then. I'll be crossing my fingers.

I have to second Greed, Anne Bonny and Depraved. Really, you need all three! ;-) I didn't realize how much I loved patchouli until I tried BPAL. Those three have no hippy shop-aura to them at all. they're scrumptious and wonderful!

Definately a super-sweet scent. I thought I didn't like myrrh, now I have to reconsidder, maybe it's a different note I dislike in other perfumes. There's nothing in this scent with a hard edge... every time you try to pin it down, it moves. Though on me it's not "This really is the smell of sex, not of seduction or temptation but sex without romance or pretense," I would call it the scent of picking a guy up in a bar... sex without commitment, but definately tempting in a manipulative kind of way. "I want to get some tonight. You'll do." ;-)

As I understand it, The lab can recieve e-mail from hotmail and yahoo accounts... I think at some point a spammer sent out spam using the lab's addresses as the originating adress (by creating fake e-mail headers), and hotmail and yahoo flagged e-mail from the blackphoenixalchemylab.com domain as being spam, and so drops them directly to your bulk mail folder. Check there if you think you may have missed an e-mail.

Looking for scents that smell like chai

On me, Wrath smells like red hots. (It's a good thing I love red hots) I would recommend Three Witches.
