    Nepthys v2

Wow, it doesn't even sound like I'm reviewing the same scent here! I got this from the lab on Etsy in July '11. Wet, it's slightly bittersweet, and dries down into a white floral on my skin. The white to me is more like narcissus than orange blossom. I say that because the narcissus flowers have a bitter undertone to my nose. I don't smell any similarity to No. 93 Engine, which I love. I'm terrible at identifying notes, but I don't get any frankincense, myrrh or anything incensy from this. This is totally floral on me. I amp myrrh like crazy, and I love frankincense and tobacco and incense fragrances, and I get none of them here. This has very little throw, and fades very quickly.

My notes: Tried 8/4/11 – 9:05 AM smells clean in bottle, goes on with tartness, almost bitter or sour. Changes a lot during drydown. Don't smell any rose or orange peel. 9:15AM myrrh makes quite a loud appearance, huge throw. I'm really liking this now. I only put on a couple of swipes from the imp and this is still with me at 1:00PM. Like this very much, maybe a bottle is in my future? 5:05PM still smells nice but is starting to fade a bit. Reminds me a lot of Interfector. Reapplying for the evening! Definitely need a bottle! Next morning – faded, but still softly fragrant, this lasts and lasts! Myrrh is the dominant note on my skin.

    Thunder and Blazes

My notes: In decant, ick. Wet, ick. Then, I get the mud. And composting grass. Then after awhile, I do get the leather…smells like an old shoe. Off to trade with you! An hour later, the leather is nicer, soft and well-worn. Doesn't smell like I've been turning the compost pile now. Maybe I'll keep you after all! If I can stand the first hour. Or, when I'm going to work in the garden. What an odd scent!

    Blue Morpho

To me, this is a very aquatic floral. In the decant, it's the blue-green of tropical seas over white sands. It's not nearly as sweet as I expected; it's well grounded. Wet, I don't get any amber or honeysuckle, but definitely orchid, geranium and violet. Dry, it's about the same, I smell mostly orchid and violet. This stays close to my skin and lasts well. Considering that amber usually turns to powder on me, I'm happily surprised that this stays true. A refreshing scent for a hot day.

    Pussy

I smell the tonka and honey in the decant (thanks, meaganola ) This goes on very sweet, then tobacco peeks right out, but just for a minute. Twenty minutes later, I was getting a metallic smell like I had been handling too many old dirty pots and pans, so I washed my hands (I'm crazy, but I can't stand having dirty hands, lol) but the metallic smell was definitely coming from Pussy. I reapplied, and 20 minutes later, there was that metallic smell again. After a while, it left. Yay! I'm glad I'm not the only one who got the metallic scent, I was starting to wonder what happened to my nose. When I got up this morning, all I smelled was a musky, powdery cozy scent on my arms. I reapplied again and didn't get any metallic smells today, so will hold on to my decant and give it a fresh try in a couple of weeks. This has more throw than most BPALs I've tried, and it lasts well. It has more than just the usual powdery scent I get from some other fragrances, it's comforting somehow. I tried to wash it off about 4:30 so I could try another scent, but it lasted through the washing.

    Nosferatu

I intended to try a little bit on my wrists after my shower but was a clutz and knocked my 1/3 of a bottle over on the stovetop. So I slathered. And I still have 1/4 bottle left, so not too bad a spill. It smelled green and earthy in the bottle. After the slather, I had to read the reviews, because I didn't recognize anything but maybe clove and was curious. After reading them, I went and checked the label to be sure it Nosferatu I had on! Yep. There's a lot more going on than clove, and something made my eyes burn. It's very complex and I'm trying an aged oil, so that probably has a lot do do with the way it is interacting with my skin chemistry. I'm glad I have some left to try again another day.
