Beth, Would you kindly list a shell of the Summer Soltice update in a separate thread. It would be super helpful for planning orders and figuring BPAL into our budgets. I'm sure I'm not alone here. Please.....oh Please.............I would, for one, greatly appreciate it. Oh, yes please. We're having to juggle funds for a short while, and this would be most helpful.
-
We're probably just ordering a few. We -just- placed an order on the 24th. And if I read this right, there's another update for Solstice? Gah!

Wow. Seven absolute 'gotta have it now' scents for me, though I know that Jason'll be making up for that, certainly. And June Gloom sounds divine. That's like as not a definite 5ml purchase here. One question .. whatever happened to Beltane? But gods .... Queen of Sheba and The Hesperides SO make up for the lack of Beltane. *drools* Now I just have to wait for the next update .. and Tiger Lily .. Thanks muchly Beth! *hugs*

Wow. This one's strong. I think I put a wee bit much on, as I was fearing this would be a light scent. Hoo-boy, I was wrong on that account! In the bottle: Others have hit the nail on the head with this one. Crisp and green. Sharp even. It could probably clear my sinuses, if I were having problems. Though, it's not a bad thing. It's just a lot greener than most of the imps that I've kept around. I'm a wee mite disappointed though, as I can't smell the lilac, and I was hoping to. I love lilacs so. Early on: Doesn't change much from the scent in the bottle. I wish my nose were better trained, because I have a hard time picking out individual notes from a lot of these. I think I'm getting the lavender and violet strongly though. I have an impression that Ylang ylang is sweeter than what I'm smelling, so I don't think that's coming out much. Wearing: It's soft (though coming on very strong, if that makes sense) .. and I'm definitely not smelling lilac in this. I wonder if layering it with my lilac lotion might help soften this a little. It's a very strong scent though .. I'm smelling it all around me. And like others, I can't seem to stop sniffing my wrist, despite my concerns that this one isn't settling down like I'd hoped. Addictive, just the same.

As I was saying before two computers decided tonight was not the night for Tania to multitask with more than two programs .... In the bottle: This wasn't all that remarkable honestly. I couldn't pick out anything in particular. It was nice my first sniff, but nothing to make me say 'Oh god, I have to have more of this!' or anything. Wearing: Oh. My. God. I have to get more of this. This smells, on me, exactly like every -good- occult shop I've ever spent any time in. That mingling of delicious incense and books and herbs and yumminess that permeates them that puts me into a blissful state just smelling it. That's what Old Athens is like for me. I love it. I don't know whether this is something I'd wear as an everyday scent. It might be a little too .. incensey for that. but it's perfect for Craftworking for me, as well as for a bedtime scent I think. I know I had some pretty detailed and interesting dreams after wearing it to bed lastnight. I might have to test it out, see what happenes if I wear it again.

*perks* Dammit Beth! You know I just placed an order .. *grins* .. now you're gonna tempt us again! Plus I have all these poems to work on, and like .. umm .. other stuff too. However, I will say that this news just made -my- night much better, as I'm about to have a conniption fit over my work. Grrr work.

Oh how pretty! In the bottle: Very lightly sweet, not candy or wine sweet like Lilith and Bordello. Lighter, and crisper. Almost like Villain, but pretty and feminine. Wearing: This is what I wish Villain smelled like on me. Sweet and lemony. I almost wish there were a little more honeysuckle in this, but it's nice the way it is.

Okay, I only had this one on for a short while, mainly because it made me sick. In the bottle, it's very sweet .. citrusy .. the grapefruit I imagine. I get a touch of muskiness too, but overall it smells sweet. Sadly, the moment I put it on my skin it turned into a nightmare. Bad BO. Horrid, nasty, stinky feet. That smell that dirty hippies wear patchouli to cover. Ugh. I left it a while, hoping that maybe it would settle down to something tolerable. Nope. Still nasty BO. *cries* It wasn't just me either. jason had the exact same reaction with it. I was thinking maybe it might have been because of my cycle .. but .. him too? Gah. Anyway, we're going to try it again in a week's time. Hopefully, it won't always be that bad.

Gourmand - Foody Scents - General Recommendations
TygherRayn replied to Morrighana's topic in Recommendations
I liked O, but have to admit that it just wasn't enough for me to keep around just yet. I am very fond of Tamora, as well as Carnivale. March Hare is very apricot and very yummy too. And as twistygirl said, Dana O'Shee. I'm wearing it now, in fact .. and -YUM!- *grins* -
This is one we both wanted, adn it's a lovely scent indeed. I was beginning to worry about the Cities, because Old Rome and Old Venice both were just too 'rose' for me. And for some reason, even though I knew the description, I was expecting roses for Old New Orleans. In the bottle: heavy on the jasmine/honeysuckle. I cannot tell the two apart, ever, though I can usually tell when they're alone in a blend. How odd is that? Anyway, this is a beautiful scent in teh bottle, and i just hope it stays as nice on my skin. First 10 minutes: Wow. My body really likes to bring out the spice, and the citrus from the lemon. It's this heavenly waft of the florals with undertones of the spice tickling my nose. I like it, because it's different than what I usually have on. And I can see why this is the belnd for Old New Orleans, even though I never smelled this there .. it's like a blend of the citrus (from the world famous hurricanes!) and the flowers that fill the bayou, along with the spices used in the fabulous Louisiana cuisine. Yum! Drydown: Mmm. This is a spicy/sweet scent that I'm falling rather in love with. Not sure it's something I can wear all the time, but it's definitely a Summer scent. The jasmine and honeysuckle seem to be trying to compete with the lemony note, and the spice remains an undertone on me .. but I like that. Jason thought it might die down, but I'm rather relived to smell that it hasn't. And it wafts nicely, which most of my scents so far haven't really done. Definitely a keeper.

I'm discovering I really like lime in a scent, and that seems odd to me at first, until I realize that I rather lime lime in things too. I will say that this scent I purchased simply for the name. I wasn't sure if the notes would appeal to me in the blend, but I was hoping for a scent to inspire me. In the bottle: Sweet, but as others have said, it's a tart-sweetness. It's floral though .. I can just barely note the jasmine here at first, but, it's definitely there. First 10 minutes: This is a rather powerful lime on me at first. I'm beginning to see that my chemistry draws out that note pretty easily. This starts to morph soon though, becoming almost smoky? Odd. But it continues to change, and I can really smell the jasmine here, and something else .. maybe the lotus? I don't know that note enough to tell. Definitely lime and jasmine still though. Drydown: While this one seems to fade initially, it's not completely gone. It's just very subtle. It's a beautiful blend of lime and jasmine with other things mingled in there, making it a very dlicate and lovely scent. I was looking for something to inspire me, and I'm quite certain .. among others of course .. that this one will indeed fuel my inspiration.

What is it with me and rosee scents? So many of the one I want to be yummy on me just turn into either old-lady perfume, or Jezebel rose-scented cigarettes. *sighs* In the bottle: This is rose with something sweet undertoning it. I think perhaps this one might do alright on me if that sweetness stays. First 10 minutes: Grrr. The sweet, whatever it was .. is gone. And I'm left with roses. This one isn't as bad as Old Rome was .. which smelled exactly like those rose-scented cigarettes I used to smoke at games .. but it's still an overpowering Rose I can't quite settle on. Maybe .. hopefully .. it'll settle down. Drydown: Well .. something of the sweet came back, but i'm just not certain this one is for me. It's still a heavy rose .. good, if those sort of scents appeal to you .. and I'm sure this isn't a bad scent for those people. I just have to learn that no matter what my silly brain thinks, I smell old-lady-ish with heavy rose scents.

I can definitely get where vaniclion gets the 'Old Spice' thing from this one. In the Bottle: Hmm. Berries? I can't quite pick out anything from this one, and that's both good and bad. It's kinda floral and kinda spicy to me. I like it, and I'm curious what it'll do on. First 10 minutes: Interesting. I don't think this is a feminine scent for me. It's kind of strong, in an 'I'll get you, my pretty' way I'm not fond of. Don't get me wrong, it's nice, but it's coming on very harsh, and I think I'd prefer a different sort of scent for me. Drydown: I smell the floral (orchid? Bergamot?) in this .. but I also get an undertone of soap that's very disconcerting to my nose. Not like it was on vanilion, but like just beneath the surface. It's a wierd thing to small in fact, and I'll happily be swapping this one away to try something new.

Yum! This was one of my 'I must have this scent' picks, and I was so right about this one. In the bottle: First of all, I love the color of this oil It's so pretty! A rosy red-pink that I want to eat. Yum! The scent of this in the bottle is very sweet .. a honey-vanilla scent, definitely. It reminded me of Dana O'Shee and O, but it's somehow .. warmer, I think. First 10 minutes: I knew I was going to like this one, and like it I sure do. It's sweet on me, but not badly. It doesn't try to overpower me, which some vanilla scents can do, and I'm relieved about this. It also blended well with my jasmine lotion .. which I had forgotten about till I put my oil on tonight. Wearing: I love this. It's not something I'd wear all the time, I don't think .. but I like it a LOT. It morphs a little later on, and I think I'm getting more of the dragon's blood, which I like. This is a very 'spring' scent .. maybe early summer too.

We have a topic for comparing Lush to BPAL .. what about these two companies? Since I'm making orders with them both .. I'd like to know if there's anything similar .. or something maybe that works well with BPAL for lotion bases and such.

First sniff: Oooh, I'm going to like this one. I can smell the jasmine .. and I -love- jasmine in an oil. It's sweet, but not wine or sugar sweet. First 5 minutes: Almost immediately I can smell the lime in this one, which is odd, because it was very strong jasmine on both Jason and vaniclion. But that's not a bad thing at all .. it's deliciousl If this were a drink, I'd love it! After drydown: Oh, I love this one. It's almost a lighter, more delicate Nyx to me. It's sweet, from the jasmine and lime. I don't really catch the berries, but that's okay. I like this just the way it is. I like what Shollin said about it .. it's what an ice princess would wear. It definitely is a lime-green scent to me. Final decision: I want a bigger bottle of this one I think. I definitely will be buying more imps, at the very least.
-
You and me both! And don't think I missed that oh-sooo-cleverly placed imp of The Lion in there, dearie! *whines*
-
I'm gonna add one more, having just gotten a chance to smell it. March Hare! Mmm .. this would make a YUMMY soap.

I went ahead and had a look at the ones listed, and while I don't know about ease of use, I do a lot of shopping online, and I can at least say what looks good, right? Freedom Networking Solutions, the one that was shown as a 'working shop' was very nicely laid out. And they seem to have a good range of features. Cf_EZcart also looks pretty good, from the sample sotrefront, and has some pretty good features itself. I like the 'Web Bucks' option .. though, it certainly wouldn't be needed with BPAL to encourage repeat buying! I did hear a rumor that Gift Certificates were a planned thing, and this one has an 'online gift certificate' option which would be good. Veracart looked pretty good too, features-wise. I like the idea that it can be blended with an existing site ... it's nice to not have the shopping cart look different than the site .. especially since BPAL's site is so dreamy! I wasn't overly impressed with their demo sites, though. Cart Manager was good too. I like that it allowes for an emailed customer receipt too. And the existing stores using it were very nicely laid out. This is probably one of the best of them all, in my uneducated opinion. Okay .. there's an awful lot of these. But these are the ones I like so far.

I did find a website while looking into this, as I got curious and bored at work. (Imagine that!) Astrology of Fragrance I'm a Scorpio Sun, Aries Moon, and Saggitarius Rising .. so according to that site, I should be most attracted to the Fire and Water assosiacted scents .. and from their little list, I'd say that's about right. Hmm. According to them: Woody and resin fragrances relate to the air signs. Floral fragrances relate to the water signs. Spicy and exotic fragrances relate to the fire signs. Rich and earthy fragrances relate to the earth signs. Fire (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) Earth (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) Air (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces)

This was one of Beth's little extras in my latest package, and I'm glad, because Iw as looking forward to this one. In the bottle: Very sweet . that has to be the jasmine. It's really nice, and a very 'fae' scent to my nose. First 10 minutes: Wow. My first thought was 'floral room spray'. It concerned me, actually, as I really was hoping good things would come of this one. I have trouble with rose scents, and this one seemed like it might be good from the description . but at the first whiff, I was rather concerned. Drying down: Thank the gods (or perhap the fae!), this one has mellowed nicely. It's a rose I can wear, and that makes me quite happy. I knew all of Beth's rose creations couldn't be too overwhelming on me .. and yay I was right! This one is a delicate rose .. though I'm not smelling anything else, sadly. I was hoping I might smell more of the jasmine than I am, cos I love jasmine scents. Final decision: This one's nice. I rather like this scent, though I'm not certain I'd want to buy a bottle right now. It kind of reminds me of a perfume Jason made for me at Garden Botanika when they had a store near here, and that's a nice memory for me.

Me, I've got Scorpio and 10th House galore. Sun, Venus and Mars all in Scorpio and all those plus Uranus in the 10th housel So needless to say, I'm dying to try Scorpio ..even without knowing what's in it. Any other suggestions?
-
Mmm. Black Phoenix is just a given .. and I've not even tried it yet! Mad Hatter Chimera (Which I can -still- smell on me!) Brujah Dana O'Shee Bordello Embalming Fluid I also think perhaps a line for the zodiac oils might be good. But then, I'm a scorpio, and I just want it all. *grins*

I'm sure beth'd love to know too. That's awfully curious.

Hmm .. curious question ... should we put off ordering Lady Macbeth for a while, to make things easier on you? I was actually thinking of getting that one .. and actually, if it's more wine now, it's more appealing to me .. but if you're backlogegd, I don't want to add to the trouble ..
