    Tisiphone

In the bottle: This is the Furies scent I was most looking forward to. It's wicked, in all the right ways. The ylang ylang makes it womanly, the oleander dangerous, and the patchouli makes it dark. Wet: Sweet, wicked and dangerous, this is the perfume of a female serial killer whose method-of-choice is poison. Wearing: I really like this one, though I think as it wears the patchouli makes it less 'poisonous' and more just dark. Brian is a genius, however, and I have to definitely thank him for this trio.

    Black Dahlia

In the bottle: Mmm. Jasmine, first and foremost. I'm not sure I quite recognize what magnolia blooms smell like, so I can't say for sure that I smell them. But this is most certainly jasmine. Sweet, like a walk down the road in the little township we used to live in on the lake .. the roads were often lined in jasmine that would scent the air for months. Wet: Still sweet and floral .. I assume this is more the magnolia than the jasmine now as the smell warms. The amber is also making its presence known, wonderfully. I can really see liking this one. I don't even smell rose in this actually, which is a relief. Wearing: There's something I can't decipher coming up in this now. Not an unpleasant scent, but just a note I can't figure out. Overall, though, I really like this. I'm not sure if I'll keep it around long, as I already have so many floral scents, and I'd really rather just find a few I like a lot than 300 I like in general .. but this is a contender.

    Haunted

In the bottle: Amber and musk .. dead on. And generally, I love those two scents, or blends with them .. so I have some pretty high hopes for this one. In the bottle, the amber is pretty strong .. a sharp amber, rather than a warm one. Wet: This goes a little warmer and sweeter once it gets onto my skin, and that's just perfectly fine with me. This is a night spent in a haunted house .. they did a show like that once .. it was some reality show, where they stuck these people in a house or something .. and they try to freak them out until there's only one left, and they win like 25k or something .. this smells like what some of those houses looked like they'd smell like. Wearing: Yum. That's all I can say about this is yum. There will definitely be more purchases of this in my future. ADDED Aug. 11: In the bottle: I wonder where the amber is in this, but I have faith. It's smoky-sweet, and I rather imagine a dark bar, where illicit lovers hide in corners, whispering words of love to eachother while hiding from their 'real' lives. Wet: My skin likes amber, that's for sure. Out it came, rather immediately. But I love amber, and so it's not a bad thing at all. This smells like that old house atop the hill .. the one noone will go into except on a dare, and even then, the slightest sounds sends you running for the door .. hoping it hasn't closed behind you. Wearing: Keep this one. It's a bit warm for summer wear .. especially as warm as it's been here altely. But I'll wear this a lot more in the cool fall and winter months.

    Mystery

In the bottle: I actually cringed from this one initially, but I thought I'd give it another try. A dear friend of mine played a character named Mystery, and it is for her that I had to try this one, so I pushed past the initial 'Oh no!' reaction. It smells like anisette .. but also a little cleaner-y. Wet: Umm .. I'm still not sure about this one. It certainly is a mystery, because one moment it's appealing, then the next I have to hold my hand away. Kind of lemony-licoricey. I'm still trying to decide if I like it enough to keep it around. Wearing: Probably swapping this one out. It doesn't seem to want to settle out to a softer scent. It's strongly clinging to that 'cleaner' scent that just isn't what I care to smell like. It's trying, desperately, to be something else, but my chemistry's just not agreeing with this blend.

    Xiuhtecuhtli

In the bottle: Sweet! I think my chemistry's going to grab ahold of that sweetness too .. but I like it. Definitely a Sun God scent. This is more of what I'd hoped Aureus might smell like .. this is definitely more sunny and brilliant and warm than Aureus was to me. Wet: Spicy .. ginger maybe? And sweet .. smells like orange candies. This is a heady, cloying scent, but not really overpowering. It's smoky, like standing in the jungle heat, surrounded by lush flora, the flowers open as the temple priests burn resins and woods in massive braziers. Wearing :Beautiful. I -really- like this scent .. and it's not the type of scent I usually like. As it dries down it's more of a spicy scent .. the insence overpowering the florals as you draw closer to the temple. It's got a nice bite to it. This is defintiely not an innocent floral. This one's rich and grown up and oh-so lovely.

    Pele

In the bottle: Exotic flowers .. this one's exotic not in the way that Old Morroco is, but in a softer, less 'in-your-face' way. I expected something a little more fiery from Pele .. but after reading up on her more, I find this really works. Wet: This scent to me is the beauty of the hawaiian islands .. not so much the capability of destruction the volcanoes lying dormant beneath them have, however. It's very beautiful .. and on those merits alone I think i'll love this scent. But it's not the fiery Goddess I was expecting. This warms after a while, which is nice, as it tempers the strong floral that Pele starts out as. It remains whimsical, as Pele is known to be, but there's a slightly darker tone to her now. Anger, but it's masked in sweetness. It's a teenaged daughter masking her rage at her parents through a facade of sweetness.

    June Gloom 2004

Oh, what a gloomy day! And so perfect for my first purchased limited edition to arrive. I couldn't -wait- to try it on. In the bottle: Uh-huh. Lemon pledge .. but taking a second .. and third .. and fourth .. and fith sniff, it just gets better. This doesn't smell like Villain does on me, this is closer to the fabulous lemon shea butter cream I just found that makes me smell like lemon creme cookies. It's bright and gloomy all at once .. like the lemon's been darkened by something .. the shine of this is dulled. Wet: It darkens even more, though it stays very lemon-pledge-y. Now it's a rainy day spent cleaning and in general staying inside, away from the summer sun because it just won't emerge from behind those clouds. It's a day spent in quiet contemplation with a whole box of lemon cookies and milk .. a day that adds 5 pounds to your hips and you just don't care. Wearing: This will be simply amazing layered with my lemon shea butter cream. I can't imagine the day when I run out of this, though I'm sure it will happen eventually. It's a strong lemon scent .. a lighter floral behind that though .. with something heavy to weigh it all down and keep it from being a sparkly, bubbly scent. It's still a happy scent though .. better yet, it's a comfortable scent.

*giggles* It must be all those new sniffs, Morrighana .. you've overwhelmed, right? Actually .. I'm a bit surprised it's the end of June myself .. but now looking forward to the end of August .. so this heat can break, and i can decorate for Autumn.

    Nephilim

In the bottle: Wierd. This smelled like cats to me when I first smelled it. It's a very powerful scent. It wants to make its presence known. The individual notes are kind of battling for attention in this one .. I think I smell the frankincese and patchouli most.. maybe some fig. Wet: My skin draws the fig out from hiding, and it's just lovely. Spicy and hot .. like the magickal fires the Nephilim taught their mortal mates to conjure. This is carnal desire blended with mystical rites and power, and it's just heavenly, pun intended. Wearing: This is almost a Christmasy scent, with the fig and the frankincese. I like that in this though. It almost smells minty now that it's settled down on my skin. Maybe that's more like a spiciness. It's a constantly changing scent .. hard to pin down. Definitely though a cold weather scent though.
  11. TygherRayn

    Cathode

In the bottle: Wet, crisp and minty. It's a brighter mint that Mad Hatter I think .. blue mint, rather than green. Wet: This smells like those pillow-mint candies .. and I love it. It's tangy .. delicious .. and very bright. This is definitely not a scent I could wear to sleep .. but probably one that would wake me up in the mornings. Wearing: The mint dies off on this one after a short time .. it's still there, but it's faded. It seems like the moss and ambergris are warming on my skin, leaving the mint to mingle with them, and not letting it remain quite as strong. But that's really okay.

    Allegory

In the bottle: Curious. Woody .. and there's a hint of orange floating in there that I only catch now and again. Wet: The civet comes out a bit stronger on .. I'm assuming that's what that musky, hot scent comes from at least. It's still toned down though by the orange. Not nealy as funky on me as Puck was .. which is the only other civet scent I've tried. Wearing: I'm not sure if it was related, but my hand started itching where I applied the oil after about 45 minutes. Not a bad itch, just a minor irritation. The scent is nice .. a warm, manly, woody scent. Full of heat .. but not peppery, spicy heat. This is body heat.

    Magdalene

In the bottle: Floral, with a darker, somber overtone. This is a woman who has seen much in her years, and her heart is scarred for it, but not broken. She still seeks the joy in life. Wet: Sorrowful. Soft. Still floral, but thre's a darker tone to this, that remains dark. Like a woman carrying a beautiful bouquet of her departed husband's flowers in the dark to his grave. Wearing: I really like this one, and I wasn't sure if I would. I love when that happens with an oil. This is floral, but in a dark, almost dismal way. It's sorrow, lifted with the promise of joy. A soft, lovely floral that I can wear without it being too overwhelming .. I'll likely buy more of this.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Wow, I think that was just a little uncalled for. I mean, she does have a point .. noone here can help you find your order, and I don't think she was being 'smartassed' at all. We all would love to help you, but when you snap at someone for making a single suggestion, you certainly don't make yourself any friends here.

    Tushnamatay

In the bottle: This is indeed very pure. It invokes crisp, clean white linens waving in a gentle breeze .. scented with a touch of incense from a brazier. A calm, white scent. Wet: somewhat powdery, but this one, of all the scents that seem powdery to me, is nicer. It's another incensey smell .. like something one would burn when practicing yoga, or meditating. Wearing: I like this scent. It's calming, soothing. It's a scent I could burn all over the house in an incense, and use as a linen spray as well, in addition to wearing the heck out of it. Slightly woody, but not in the scratchy way that cedar seems to do to me. Warmer .. softer .. like a sturdy walking stick used by a age-weathered wizard. I -really- like this one, and imagine it will be a 5ml purchase.

    Incantation

In the bottle: Ooooh! This is smooth, and warm and lovely. Sweet, on a second sniff. This is another of those 'occult-shop-incense' kind of smells. Wet: My skin kinda bumps-up the lemon in this, but it remains entangled in the woodsiness of this scent. I get an image of a shadowy forest, walking through it eating candied citrus peel, discussing the secrets of the universe with no one in particular. Wearing: vaniclion ordered some of this, so I'm really very glad we got it as an extra in an earlier order. Yum! I could use this as more than just a perfume too. A linen spray, a room scent .. candles, soaps, incense .. the works!

    Dissipation

In the bottle: One part root beer .. the good stuff, not the commercial kind .. and one part poppies. Kind of a sweetened root beer, touched with floral. It makes me think of penny candy stores, and soda fountains. Wet: I still smell root beer. It's like the rootbeer I get at Longhorn Steakhouse .. more pungent and sharp .. though in this it's softened. Sweet, but not candy-sticky sweet. And something in the background is almost woody. That might be the ivy, as I've no clue what ivy really smells like. Wearing: Put a root-beer barrel candy in your mouth with a lemon candy slice, and you'll have this scent. Sort of, anyway. I'm really curious now how a lemon-slice might work in rootbeer. Anyway, I like this one. It's 'fruity', but warm. Bubbly, without being overpowering. ADDED Aug. 11: Oooh .. I have to follow the Todd-fox? My-oh-my, those're some shoes to follow. Sadly, I can't be nearly as poetic about this one. It didn't do near as well on me as I wanted it to be, and into the swap pile it will go. In thebottle: It's cool, and green, and attention grabbing indeed. It's something of a harsh scent, but not in a bad way, more like it wants attention, and is determined to get it at all costs. Wet: The moment it hit my skin I got a tickle in my throat and I was coughing. I've not yet had a scent do that to me, and I'm sad, because it's making me have to wash this one off.

    The Hesperides

Jason tried this one on almost first of all of the imps we got, and it was a surprisingly odd scent on him. Very sharp. So now, it's my turn. In the bottle: This smells dry. It's hard to get anything out of it, in fact .. there's an apple-tartness to it certainly, but I can't seem to smell anything more than I'm feeling it .. that shiver I get from a really tart, crisp apple. Wet: More apple-y now, though that crisp-ness clings for a while. There's something veiling the apples for me .. I can smell them every once in a while, but usually I get whatever is layered over them, that leafy-woody smell that hides everything. This really is like getting a glimpse of the golden apples within the garden, then losing sight of them and trying to find it again. Wearing: This stays too sharp for me .. I don't think it quite agrees with my nose .. despite desperately wanting this one to mellow out a bit, my chemistry just isn't allowing that. I will note that this one wafts very well .. Every time I took a bite of my dinner tonight I could smell it.

    Arcana

In the bottle: Very lavender .. but not like sniffing straight lavender oil or anything. Tehre's a herbal quality to this I really like .. it's enigmatic, and ethereal, and just lovely. Wet: Almost immediately the laverder dies off and I'm left with a lemon aroma that smells 'thick' ... it's like lemon pudding. I like it though. Now and again I still get a hint of lavender, but the lemon is predominant. Wearing: I'm not sure if this one's going to be wearable during the day. The lavender has returned .. but it's more like a lavender sachet with lemon undertones. But it's soft, and just sweet enough, nd soothing. It'll make a great sleeping scent.

    Persuasive Scents

Persuasive and Charming? Well .. Queen Mab, as mentioned, is a lovely scent .. I feel empowered when I wear it, certainly. Same for Old Morocco. Water of Notre Dame is a calm, soft scent that keeps me calm in tense situations, which might be good. I have to agree with Snake Oil being a good 'memorable' scent. (Oh, how I need to order me some!) Of course, anything warm but not agressive might be good, as it might help the prospective employer 'warm up' to you. *smiles* Also, any scent that makes -you- feel like you can take on the world .. when you feel confident, you appear confident.

    Darkness

In the bottle: Woah, what the heck is that? Initially, I almost put this away. But I'm in a Darkness mood, after thinking lots about Legend tonight, so on it went. Wet: Almost immediately it mellowed ... no longer the harsh, acidic scent and turning quickly to candle smoke, that smell you get just after you blow out the candles. It continues to warm adn soften, remaining a smoky, not-quite-thereness that I love .. it's like fumbling around in the dark looking for that candle you -know- you put nearby .. but can't manage to find. Wearing. This is nice. Darker than the scents I've been liking so far. I can't separate the notes in this .. I'm not all that familiar with the scent of opium, or narcissus. Myrrh is the only one I know, and even that is just a part of this delightful blend. This is Darkenss from Legend. This is the smell one would get when he came in the room. This is the utter sensualness of his temptation .. the call of his desire. ADDED Aug. 11: In the bottle: I think it's the opium I smell most in this .. sharp and spicy, but with a dark edge. Might also be myrrh .. I'm not good at picking that out. All I can say is this does definitely smell dark to me. Rich murky black and grey and deepenst violet, clouding your vision and making the world seems somehow spookier. Wet: This makes my nose crinkle a little, but I'm not certain quite why. It's hot .. not spicy, like cinnamon or clove, but more .. well .. it's the smell of a roaring fire, but not the burning wood. It's the fire ... and all at once it's the darkness around that fire. Wearing: I'm of two minds on this one. It's dark .. perhaps very suitable for wearing on the Dark of the moon, or for such endeavors as require Dark Moon energy. But at the same time it's the flash fo the fire, the heat of it. Not a spring/summer scent at all. Suitable indeed for fall and winter .. but even then, I just don't know how it'll wear.
  22. TygherRayn

    Desire

In the bottle: Sweet .. like .. almost cotton-candy sweet. It wants to be bright and shiney, but it's held back by something .. the musk, probably. I get just a hint of rose and vanilla, which are making an interesting combination inded. Wet: As I feared .. my skin grabs right ahold of the rose in this and empowers is. I'm going to give it a while to see if that odd diaper scent goes away .. no, not a dirty diaper .. but the powdery scent some diapers seem to have. Wearing: Meh. Still a stron rose scent .. which despite me wanting it to be nice on me, doesn't like my skin. And it still gives me that aura of clean baby diapers in a pile somewhere in the room.
  23. TygherRayn

    The Lovers

In the bottle: Herbal. Grassy. Green, and incredibly complex. Which is fitting, I would say, for a scent depicting Love. Love is never easy. Wet: I don't know where that cinnamon came from, but it's quite fitting. When I picture lovers, I picture red hearts, and that brings me to red-hots, and that brings me to connamon. My mind works in strange ways. It's a sweet, light and fresh cinnamon though, not the intence spice of Mars or Wrath, or the peppry hotness of Three Witches. Wearing: Whatever is in this scent, it's a subtle blending of notes that I probably wouldn't see together, that really work once I put them on. Rather like love, in fact, as it's often the people you would never see together that complement eachother the most.
  24. TygherRayn

    The Star

In the bottle: Several people have said coconut for this one. I don't get that. It's very strongly lime on me. I guess maybe I don't know what coconut milk smells like, and that may be why I don't get that scent .. but it's like a bunch of fresh limes to me. Wet: There's the coconut smell. Took it just a minute to warm on my skin, but it's peeking out through the lime .. which apparently my chemistry loves. This one is a very bright, sparkly scent .. it's a star. It's clear and brilliant, and kind of smells to me like a lime popsicle .. which I can't ever find, and love! Wearing: The lime popsicle scent remains .. the coconut smell others mentioned never quite came to the forefront on me. I'm rather fond of this blend, really. It's sparkly. I'm discovering more and more how much I like lime in things .. and that's what I smell most from this. It's like venom .. kicked up a few notches. Yum.
  25. TygherRayn

    The Moon

Beth .. is this scent made for you? Cos I can almost picture you when I smell it. In the bottle: Jasmine .. I can finally tell the difference between that and honeysuckle. Night blooming jasmine, I would guess. This scent makes me think of a moonlit night, stepping out onto a balcony and raising my hands to the moon in all Her glory, with the scents of the night wafting around me. Wet: The jasmine likes me. It comes out strong on me, and I really like that, because jasmine is one of my absolute favorite scents. Is there moonflower in this too? I'm trying to remember what they smell like .. they were in full bloom the night of my wedding in the backyard .. this has the same white-ness of them. Wearing: I -love- this scent. I've always been drawn to the moon, since I was little, so it shouldn't surprise me that I adore this oil blend. It's sweet, and bright, and speaks to me of the pull the moon has over me. Mysterious and magickal ... it's wafting very nicely, and I only put a small amount on to try it. I can see getting a bigger bottle of this one. Definitely.
