The Best Scents for Home, a Room, the Car...
Wrenlet replied to amberbella's topic in Recommendations
:nods wildly at this: Oh. Em. Gee. it's hot out here. Not so much a scent suggestion, but have you thought about tying the cord long enough you can take the amphora inside with you during the day? -
Actually these days you can generally expect the level to be somewhere between the label and the cap. I believe they are now exactly 1ML, and just like with the 5ML bottles they will appear more or less "full" depending on how well the particular imp was made.

Apples and lotus wet, and I do mean wet apples and wet lotus! Something… not quite powdery, slightly reminiscent of the candlewax I get in The Star and yet not, comes out on the drydown. This is my Year Card for 2006, so pardon me while I pop over to purchase a bottle. (Incidentally I'm looking forward to what The Hanged Man might show me this year, it's going to be an... interesting ride, I think.)

If you started reading at the beginning of the thread, it dates back to February of 2004 The Lab stopped including reducer caps at some point between then and June 2005 (date chosen because there were no reducers in my first order )

The Muse bottles are so preeeeeeeeetty... I fiddled with the sharpness to try to bring up the detail, even the backgrounds to the labels are subtly and suitably different!
-
Magus. Magus Magus Magus... even my husband said it smells masculine on me, and I? Do not care a bit

I've never hated my chemistry so much. This is gorgeous and sweet and delectable, right before it turns into nasty chalk and sets off the sneezes.

So, I passed on this at its debut because I didn't think I wanted to smell like a candy cane... I should know better! Reviews made me crave an imp and a kind forumite fulfilled my wish It is exactly what I hoped it would be! Halfway between Milk Moon and Chaste Moon: sweet but not too sweet, minty but without the floral background of Chaste Moon. Later, I had my husband sniff my wrist, and he PLANTED his nose on my skin… and then licked me! He must be psychic or something. Seriously, I am so in love with this scent now, it's nuts.

"Soft pine" is not soft enough for my poor nose I can smell the foody goodness underneath, but have you ever seen someone sneeze with a mouthful of nuts?

What I wanted Hearth 2005 to be on me: light, sweet smoke with touches of leather. Mmmmmm Herr D., what a lovely man you are! ETA: I spoke too soon Something got up my nose when I tried it on the other night, but I brushed it off as a lingering note from Saturn... alas. Is it the linen? I can't be sure, but something in here makes me react the same way I do to amber scents. Waaah!

Yup, the auction is here. I remember Macha saying she didn't think the t-shirt design would translate well to a label, the length and width were such that too much detail would be lost. The other thing I'm wondering is about the Rappacini's Garden labels, 'cause the picture above appears to be on a 10ml bottle. I guess the label on a 5ml would have less of the greenery surrounding it? More incentive to make the jump for a 10ml if I find an RG scent that works on me

Okay, it looks like I'm alone in this, but along with the OMGLEATHER! I smell clean, sunwarm horse in here

That's normal. PayPal is actually doing two transactions. The first transaction is taking the money out of your bank account (or charging your credit card or whatever) to fund your account, then the second transaction is taking the funds from your account and sending it on to the recipient. For legal reasons they have to show both transactions. The only time you will only see the one outgoing transaction is when you have a PayPal balance - then you'll see the "To" transaction as coming from your balance. But somewhere in your history, there's going to be a "From" transaction that will offset that "To". There always has to be a zero sum. Your "From"s have to equal your "To"s plus any PayPal balance. That's what I thought, yet I frequently see folks talking about "pre-funding" their Paypal accounts before an update, so it's somewhat confusing.
-
Maybe I've got my Paypal set up differently, but this happens simultaneously for me? I tell it the source of funds is my bank, and the transfer in is completely transparent to me. It shows up as two transactions in my history, the transfer in and then immediately back out, but I only did the one procedure. Hmmm.

I smell like a quintuple-fudge chocolate brownie With... :sniffs more: semi-sweet chips in. And it's Ghirardelli baking chocolate, not Nestles.
-
In the bottle: I can't even say. On me, wet: It's. Light. Very light and "airy" and at first I don't seem to be getting any amber at all. On sniffing some more, something starts not quite agreeing with me: it doesn't make me sneeze. Quite. But almost. Dry: ... okay, I think that's the amber. Still with the nose-wrinkling-not-quite-sneezes, though. Alas, not a scent for me

Bottle: Roses. Light but definitely roses. On me wet: watery roses. Dust and watery roses. Dry: Dust, water, roses, and a headache This was a frimp from the lab, and probably not one I would have ordered due to my history with various florals. But Paris was a frimp, too, and I was so pleasantly surprised by it! Alas. Me + roses = badness.

Bottle: Very sharp astringent lavender, almost painful. Wet: The lavender is no longer sharp at all, and now I'm definitely getting the bubble-gum, with wafts of... melon? Dry: Occasional hints of the "green" in the lavender, but mostly still I'm getting the (I assume) lotus. Which I've discovered is a floral that does not give me headaches, yay! Definite keeper, not sure yet whether I want a whole bottle.
-
Wet: Nice and light lemony, like fresh-squeezed... and then straight to Lemon Pledge, 2 seconds after skin contact. Dry: Warms up to something non-Pledgy and nice... and then gone, two minutes after that. Just. It's the complete opposite of White Rabbit, which I couldn't get to come OFF OF ME. Second, larger dose lasted a bit longer, and it's there if I absolutely plant my nose on my wrist, but that's it. Shame, so many scents trigger either my sinuses or my head, I hate to let go of one that doesn't. Much later: it's like my wrist is particularly clean, like there's a sheen of pure water on it. But again, that's with my nose planted to skin. Maybe it would last longer not on my skin? Hard to say.
-
Very hard to pin down! In the bottle and on me wet, it is incense-y and mysterious and lovely... then it dries right down to powder and tickles my nose in the not-good way
-
Imp: Jasmine. Wet: Jasmine. Dry: Hmm, let me think... jasmine! Sadly, jasmine on me gives me a headache. Luckily, jasmine on my husband is a whole 'nother story, so I believe I will pass this on to him. (Why oh why is it, the scents that like me least are the ones that squirt down the side of the imp when I close it?)
-
Sniffing the imp, Neo-Tokyo started out very cologne-y... on, this scent is green, green, green, and a touch sharp. No hint of cherry blossoms, or anything but the bamboo and (I'm assuming) ozone. Then it dries straight down to cologne and makes me sneeze I have a vague hope that as I try more scents I'll be able to "train" my nose for notes, but for now as soon as I hit sneezy stage, I can't smell anything else. Off it goes to a better home.

In the bottle and wet on my skin, it smelled the same, but I had a hard time pinning it down. Light floral... does anyone remember Anais Anais? I haven't smelled it in ages so I may be misremembering, but that's what it reminds me of. But then, oh! Dry, I am standing on the beach in Galveston (one of the nice ones, mind). Watery and salty, still a touch floral in the background but not much. *sniffle* I moved north from Houston about two years ago and haven't been near a beach since then, I miss the ocean. Tempest makes me miss it a LOT. I'm not sure if this is something I will wear... it'd make a nice room scent, except that I'm not that fond of it wet. Hrm.

The dreaded skin chemistry strikes I got no hint of woods or herbs in Yggdrasil at all, just a heavy 'perfume-y' smell that snuck right up my nose and made me sneeze. A lot. My husband said he could smell faint, faint sandalwood with his nose right on my wrist, but his sense of smell is uncanny. I had to wash it off. :whimpers: World Tree! I wanted to love you, but you don't love me back.

Wet: Fresh-cut apple, just after the knife cleaves through it... in fact, I think I can smell the tang of metal. This does not last long. Dry: Metal all gone, it is apple, apple, apple... and then oak! The apple is never cloying on me, it stays light and lovely, unadulterated. The juice that drips down your chin as you're eating. Hour later: The morning after? The misty notes sneak forward, like dew... still lightly apple. Lovely. Love this one!
