  1. Hi there. My two favorite scents from bpal have been Hungry Ghost Moon, and Snake Oil. I've tried, so, so, many GC scents, and only these two have struck my fancy. My Hungry Ghost moon is going to run out eventually, and I'd love a recommendation for something, so I can always smell like spicy ginger cookies.

I love spicy and sweet scents. I love amber, but I just loooathed O. Snow White smells like straight play dough to me. Dorian would be lovely as a fabric softener, but as a perfume it was just so sweet to me. I had high hopes for Bengal, but it wasn't complex enough for me. It just smelled like a sweet creamy, watered down cinnamon scent on me.

Do you all have any suggestions?

  2. From the bottle it smells like juicy juice cranberry juice. Sweet, tart, and cranberry.

Wet on skin it is shocking cranberry and heady cinnamon.

Dry it smells almost identical to glade's apples and cinnamon plug in air freshener. I don't mind smelling like glade, but I wish that this scent's front runner would be the cranberry cider with an afterthought of spice. Just how cider hits the palette.

  3. I got an imp of this and it was a glorious sweet pea centered scent anchored down by a mature vanilla. My bottle version is all sugary vanilla and honeyed ambers. Powdery and cold.

When I got my bottle - I wanted the first. A year later - in the beginnings of winter - I like this sweet cold scent.

  4. My imp has aged for a year or so, laying softly in a dark wooden box. Waiting.

My initial sniff smelled something like cough syrup, a bottle of opium perfume, and ammonia. I was hesitant to put it on.

GLAD I DID! My impression -

Imagine walking through a desert in a dense warm fog. In the distance a torch burns through the fog, a path to somewhere. A funeral pyre? You smell smoke in the distance. That amber fire melts the darkness around it, you take a step forward.

Smokey resin meets a sultry note of amber. No citrus to be detected. Bottle me up Scotty!

  5. Lab Fresh

In the bottle: Oooh. This smells like vanilla, earl grey, & lavender. I detect hints of lemon, but they are fleeting.

Wet: The lavender is very pronounced and holds hands with the musks. The tea note is waving in the background, I have forgotten that this was supposed to have vanilla in it. Lemon completely vanished. Never to return (yesssss).

Dry: Mmm. This morphs into a comforting smell of boyfriend t-shirts that still smell a bit like lavender vanilla fabric softener. & tea. I suppose boyfriend could have spilled black tea on his t-shirt. This is such a comforting smell, warm. I cannot decide if I want to wear it - or if I want my boyfriend to. Hmm...

Note: I opened up my bpal package at my mom's, and she grabbed Dorian, put some on her wrist, wowed, and immediately went off to order some.

5/5 So, so, so good. If this gets better as it ages - I might just have to buy a drum from BPAL.

  6. Lab Fresh

In the bottle: It smells like a wiccan shop I used to visit. Incense heavy, musty, and like powerful generic old people perfume.

Wet: The incense is very heavy, but so is the cloying old lady perfume. It's something my 60 year old mother would smell like, if I smelled her through a curtain of incense.

Drydown: Ugh. Marizpan? Baby Powder? Incense? Not my favorite scent. It keeps switching from this cherry almond like scent to baby powder with heavy notes of incense. About two hours in, it starts to sweeten up with vague thoughts of vanilla, but perhaps it's just the marzipan getting creamier.

2/5 This scent has potential. If the vanilla deepens and blooms to a full vanilla - then the incense might play out nicely. Until then, my first BPAL purchase is going in the back of a dark box to age.

Week Later: Now, it's all almond vanilla on my skin. No smokey incense smell or baby powder. Hours later, it dries down to a play doh like vanilla.

Three Months Later: The almond play doh scent has simmered down. I like the scent more now, but the incense shop scents are just not for me. I wear this when I'm feeling adventurous and wild, but this Taurus prefers more subtle scents. - like Dorian.

Two Years Later I love this perfume, it's just not quite me, ya'know? It's the scent that I wish I could be. Sweet, spicy, world traveling type. I have gotten so many compliments on this that I can't help but feel wonderful when I wear it.

Beautiful throw, better and better the more it ages.

It has a place in my scent collection, love vanilla, but I will never use it lab fresh. 4/5

  7. My all time favorite perfume is Armani Code for women.

    Top Notes

Bitter Orange, Italian Orange, Sambac Jasmine

    Middle Notes

    Orange Blossom Absolute

    Base Notes

    Vanilla, Honey

Delicious. I wonder if there are an BPAL scents that have a more interesting orange/vanilla/honey mixture.

Now I don't know what Armani Code for women smells like but when I saw this, what first popped into my mind was Jezebel.

A gloriously decadent blend of honey, roses, orange blossom and sandalwood.

I'll have to get an imp of Jezebel. Unfortunately, rose scents tend to sour on my skin something awful. I was gifted Rockin' Rio by Valentino a couple years back. Gave it a try, but all I got from the perfume was wave after wave of sickly sweet rose. Great notes, but all it was on me was rose, rose, rose.

"Rock'n Rose Perfume by Valentino, A rose scent, it contains muguet, bergamot and blackcurrant notes at the top, around a heart of rose and white florals including gardenia and orange blossom. At the base are notes of vanilla, orris and musk."

Still willing to have a rose scent prove me wrong >:)

  8. As a BPAL newbie, I would love an oil that had the richness of Jungle. One of my favorite green scents of all time.

A couple years ago, I made my own perfume oil blend with fragrance oil and a carrier jojoba oil. Worked well, and I got to wear my favorite lush scents as perfume. Never bought a jungle scent, just a Honey I washed the kids scent, and the rockstar scent. Both very good dupes. I should order some Jungle frangrance oil.

Mmm. I also love their Vanillary scent. Very dusty, rich, creme brule meets incense smell.

& I've made myself hungry. Lovely perfume notes in these perfumes... make me want to go on a grocery binge.
