Yum! Root beer and almonds. Something in here is very fruity too, and I don't think it's the coconut (though I get a hint of that as well). I'm loving this one, and may actually pull the trigger on a full bottle.

This is very musky, and perhaps the driest and darkest of the dead leaves. Unfortunately I don't detect a hint of orange, which is a shame as I was really hoping for some brightness in here.

I'm not familiar at all with the scent of copal, so I'm going to guess that's most of what I'm smelling here. It's incensey, but also quite green -- moreso than I would expect from the "dead leaf" notes. I've tried almost all of the dead leaf blends from last year's Halloweenies by now, and unfortunately this one doesn't really stand out to me, though there's certainly nothing wrong with it.

This is not as rich chocolatey as some of the lab's other chocolate scents -- it's more diluted and powdery, like watery instant cocoa. Just have other reviewers have mentioned, it smells exactly like a packet of Swiss Miss with mini marshmallows. This is pleasantly light and subtle, it's a nice change from some of the more heavy, decadent chocolate oils I own.

Blood and Judgment So Well Commeddled
agirlnamedfury replied to IronMollyBlack's topic in Limited Editions
The scent description is a list of notes I love, so this should be a home run for me... but somehow I don't really dig it all that much? Rather than the warm leather, vanilla, and almond I should be getting, something about this is cold and almost bitter. Amber can be hit or miss for me, so maybe that's what ruining it? I may have to try this one another time or two... -
This is a really unusual, interesting scent. There is something distinctly barn-like about it, but not in a bad way... blended with honey and cream. I wasn't sure I would end up liking this one, but I really do -- it's a nice subtle skin scent, and something about it is very comforting.

Unfotunately I don't get any of the candy or mint in this, on me it's all florals and greenery. It's pleasant enough (smells just like a country garden in full bloom), but not really my style.
-
Pure, unadulterated bubblegum. There is something very refreshing, almost a subtle mintyness, that comes through in the drydown -- I guess that's the "chilly wind". I can't see myself wearing this one all that much, as it's a very specific, kind of juvenile scent, but it's pretty much exactly as advertised so I can't complain!

Sticky Eyeballs and Floppy Entrails
agirlnamedfury replied to Antoinette's topic in Limited Editions
Marshmallows and candy, just like the listed notes. The marshmallows in this are quite powdery, like big fluffy homemade ones dusted with confectioner's sugar. The strawberries are subtle but present, though they're definitely an artificial red dye #40 type. This is actually quite a bit lighter than I expected, not nearly as cloying as it could be. -
Ooh, this is definitely peppery! There's a very dry spiciness to it, and the sandalwood also comes through strong. The leaves aren't as up front in this blend as they are with some of the others in this little collection, but they're definitely in the mix. I don't know if I see myself reaching for this one often, but something about it is very intriguing and I think it would smell great on a man.

This is very bitter straight out of the bottle, and while wet it reminds me very strongly of men's aftershave. But it softens into a fairly pure leather scent as it dries. This is a bit on the masculine side (and I'm not usually one to gender scents or shy away from ones considered "manly"), so I'm not sure how much I'll wear it. But I don't hate it. I might rub some on the boy and see what he thinks of it.
-
Could it be? An apple-based scent I don't immediately hate on myself? I had almost given up trying. I mean I'm still not completely sold, but there's something kind of mellow about this one that I like. I guess the tobacco and tea tempers it a little, and this one plays very close to the skin as well so there isn't that overpowering sour/bitter scent that apples always seem to turn into on me. Worth another few wears at least, I'll see if it grows on me even more.

Spicy marzipan. This is that kind of almond that smells a bit like cherries at first, but it's definitely very sweet and cookie-like as well -- not really fruity past the wet stage. I actually really like this one.
-
The pepper is STRONG in this one! It kind of burns in the back of my nostrils. But the rest of this is pure, processed sugar... though not as headache-inducingly saccharine as it could be. I do get more orange creamsicle than cotton candy, but that's probably more interesting anyway.

I bought bottles unsniffed of almost all of the Scalias because I loved the theme and names, but this one I particularly bought because of the notes. And that list of notes is damn accurate. This is lovely, though -- it's a mellow, earthy skin scent and there's something very comforting about it. It definitely does smell like weed but it's pretty subtle. Not positive I would wear this one to work, but I will totally wear it hanging out at my apartment or casually with friends.

Dead Leaves, Bourbon Vanilla, and Myrrh
agirlnamedfury replied to claudia6913's topic in Halloweenie
This is the most "dead leafy" of all the "Dead Leaves And..." blends I've tried from this year's weenies. I don't really get much vanilla, unfortunately. -
This is quite a bit greener than I expected, at least while wet, but it is definitely true to the name. This is fresh, light tobacco, and leaves that are only just turning. There's a sweetness, almost honey-like that comes through as it dries.

This new boy I'm seeing was playing with the new weenie decants I had laying out on my table, and after spilling a bit of this one he declared "it smells like sex". Good, right? This is definitely one of those vampy scents, as you might guess from the name. Lots of leather and patchouli, and I get quite a bit of the clove too. I do really like this one but I don't know if I would necessarily reach for it over the other sexy musky scents I already own.

At first this is fruity and rich, almost wine-like, but it goes quite medicinal moments after being applied to my skin -- something like menthol or eucalyptus? Unfortunately it seems to stay that way even once dry. Not the worst, but I don't really love smelling like cough drops.

A barrel of beer, a pyramid of cakes, and three sticks of incense. 2015 version: Caaaake. Delicious, nutty, buttery cake. Definitely a little bit beery, but not overwhelmingly so. I quite like this one!

2015 version: Cool and refreshing. Very lightly musky (I'm not super familiar with white musk but I guess this is what I'd expect it to smell like) and just the faintest hint of foodiness from the cocoa and vanilla. Very unique, unlike any of the other perfumes I own (and I own quite a few BPALs at this point).

2015 version. This feels more wintery than October for me! Maybe October in a colder climate. It's definitely very wet and there's something rather sharp about it. I do get a touch of smoke but not nearly as much as I'd like, I really have to hunt for it. This is very "classic perfume" aquatic for me, which is unfortunately not really my style.

Yum! Mint julep in perfume form. This is very minty, but a fresh herbal mint as opposed to something fake or menthol-y. Not quite as boozy as I would have expected, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. This will be perfect to pull out when Spring comes around again.
-
Definitely a good, pure milk chocolate scent. It's actually not as strong as I expected (or maybe hoped?) and stays quite close to the skin -- but I got this as a frimp from a swapper, so it could be quite aged for all I know. Still, I love it (as I knew I would!) and will have to get more.
-
2015 version: This is actually very sharply floral on me, which is not at all what I expected. Something about it is also strangely soapy on me. Unfortunately I'm not getting any of the dry leaves, smoke, or foody notes. Weird skin chemistry?
