  1. I just noticed tonight while I was trying my new Bengal imp that it smells a LOT like Gingerbread Poppet '05, just without the sweet sweet ginger scent. It's a lot more wearable in that way. If this is what Three Witches smells like, I need me a bottle! Another I've noticed is Devil's Night smells a LOT like Xiuhtecuhtli, just less sweet and damp. Both are sophisticated and orange to me.

In the imp: Smells like a dirtier version of Carmex, like myrrh and Carmex combined. Could be the ginger fouling up the scent from the imp. Wet: Slightly different, less medicinal. I can smell the fruit (apricot?) and the spice of the ginger for sure. And the plasticy scent I associate with the vanilla oils. Dry: Same thing, just dirty and not so pleasant. Category: Spice/Vanilla Rating: 2/5; Nice, but not enough Overall: I've come to accept that pretty much any scent with vanilla in it is going to be bad on my skin, so this isn't too much of a loss for me. The scent was odd at first, took a little getting used to. It's definately not a scent I'll wear again, but it would be nice for someone that like La Petit Mort.

    Aizen-Myoo

In the imp: Crisp, cold, citrus. A bite underneath, but a nice bite. Sweet, spicy and citrus. Wet: Fruit! Crisp citrusy FRUIT! There's a biting undertone, like neroli but more astringent and bitter. I think the black tea is part of the biting undertone. Dry: Sweet citrus and I'm LOVING IT! Same as before just softer. Category: Citrus CHANGED! Rating: 4.5/5; Changed my mind on the strength, was sensitive that day. Overall: The yuzu in this is lovely, without a doubt. I don't know what kaki or mikan smell/taste like exactly, but they are pleasant enough in this blend. The throw is AMAZING and strong. I can see why this would be a blend for prostitutes, comes on strong. I didn't put a lot on, actually VERY little and it overpowered my nose. This would be a blend to dilute for me as I don't like reeking too heavily of anything. My second wearing brought SO MUCH MORE out of this scent. This is really a sleeper hit with me. Where the fruits were bitter and sour the first wear, they are just plain juicy and succulents. This is not an outright sweet but an implied sweet. This is so lovely on a spring day where it's hard to study indoors. If you like citrus or spicy fruit, this is DEFINATELY your thing!

    Bengal

In the imp: Spicy and definate ginger. Something painfully sweet on the top. Wet: Not so gingery gingerbread. I can smell the clove and cinnamon bark and the sweetness of the ginger. Something honey, if it isn't honey itself it's a great imitation. Dry: Powdery. I'm amazing the cinnamon doesn't bother me so much. The biting side of the ginger stayed away pretty well. Reminds me vaguely of chai tea. Category: Gourmand/Spice/Chai Rating: 3.5/5; Nice gourmand and spice scent. Overall: I like that it didn't get too sweet and the powdery part of it was soft and not too strong. It was definately like being in an exotic bakery with spice cakes and gingerbread cookies all over. Very nice.

BPAL for Good Luck, Good Fortune, Good Karma

I would wear Xiuhtecuhtli, it makes me want to be a grownup stuck-up-the-ass adult on the outside and a dominatrix sex goddess on the inside. Other than that, I would probably wear a TAL oil (like Lady Luck) or the voodoo oil Horn of Plenty.
  6. Kumiho, yay! Empyreal Mist and Hurricane are very CLEAN scents to me, very dryer sheets and ozone. Hurricane was harsh (as it should be, it's a destructive storm" and Empryeal Mist was lovely for pepping up and feeling clean. I like Blood Rose because the dbr becomes a bit more gritty and the wine gets darker to a real wine smell. Dragon's Heart works with the sweat and my boyfriend swears "You smell like dirty, kinky sex" when I wear it around him when we're doing something active. Blood Pearl is lovely because the salt from your skin adds to the salty seas feel.

    Springtime scents

Arachne is one I'm wearing a bit as spring rolls around. I feel the urge to bust out some Black Pearl, but it still smells a bit too much like shampooed dog to me right now It was good before, I swear! Fruit Moon, LOVELY fruity sweetness.

    I need more Cherry!

Cherry scents I've tried: Blood was VERY cherry on me all through the wet stage. Blood Rose hits me as cherry, but a dark cherry. Dragon's Blood may be lots of lilac, but the cherry is definately there. It did fade almost entirely on me after a while. Eclipse is completeley sweet almond, JUST like marzipan. Wrath could work, but the clove and cinnamon were strong. The dbr was quite nice and cherry, though. Not exactly cherry, but nice nonetheless: Akuma is orange and raspberry. It was very delicious. Swank, crisp pomegranite. Sweet and sugary. Lovely. Tintagel is grape syrup wet and during most of the drydown on me. Granted, the other notes in the blend add in and make the blend a bit more dirty.

    Springtime scents

I love Kumiho, but it doesn't last long AT ALL! I've been wearing Arachne in my scent locket today (mostly because it's not a scent I'm super-fond of on me, but otherwise because I wanted to try something else on me) and I kept smelling little wafts of it and thinking "Apple blossoms!" or "fresh grass and snow!" It's very nice and springy. I do wish I wasn't allergic to La Bella aus Bois Dormant, it's so soft and lovely. I want to try Beltane, but it just doesn't sound like my kind of scent.

    The smell of night

MOON ROSE, yes! Soft chill flowers. Sea of Glass is like a lilac tree out your window at the beach house with the window open. Then again, I used to stay at my grandparent's house and could always smell the beautiful lilac at night.

What to wear to a rock show?

Stardust! I do also recommend that one. Was lots of fun for friend's party with loads of people and wines and champagne and... well... everything. I love Blood Rose for most things, really, but really recommend it for shows. The dark smoky scent in it works well with human sweat and smoke. Wanda is very similar, has leather in it, also works well with human sweat and smoke. Dragon's Heart is already slightly dirty and spicy, if you can over the slight cherry scent. All three are scents I use for shows. Gets you feeling good, people aren't disgusted by your scent, blend well with sweat and smoke.
  12. I completely understand, Xiuh was my first OMFGBPAL! I love the copal and plumeria and sweet orange mix. It's so beautiful, tropical and damp, but firey. It's an oil to be kept in a 10ml for everything. Akuma was similar but really sweet and fruity. Devil's Night was amazingly similar on my skin, just a bit more incensy than wet. Succubus seemed very similar at first but turned to powder on my skin. Pele I though was going to be close and similar but it was way too powder-floral on me. Not enough of the dampness on my skin. R'lyeh has the damp and lovely citrus scent, and it's somewhat warm. It doesn't have the spicy incensy bit, though. it is very lovely and aquatic. Blood Rose has a similar feel. There's the cherry of the dragon's blood resin is fruity and sweet but there's also an incense on top that gives a somewhat dirty smell to it, but a nice dirty.

Oils To Help with PMS and Periods

Blood Rose This scent is dark and somewhere in there I feel like something commands me to bleed. Strange, but it's the scent I associate with my period and menstrual blood, as well as intense romantic evenings. I also recommend eating plenty of protein and dark green leafy vegetables. I love fresh spinach leaves that time of the month, mostly because I'm always iron-deficient, but I think it's because it's so tasty.

    Serpent's Kiss

Dragon's blood, vetivert and spice. In the imp: Dirty and cherry. Mostly dirty. Wet: Oh wow this is horrid! Must be vetivert and the DBR together that don't mix with my chemistry. Dry: Much of the same. Something like really old peanut butter and dirt and twizzlers. Category: NEVER-AGAIN Rating: 0/5; almost made me ill Overall: Alright, vetivert hasn't been bad on me before but after trying this one twice, I think that's what's off. It was so gross that I had to wash it off immediately, but then it was a persistant bugger and would NOT wash off! Poor blend, there was a greatness to the sound of it.

    Perversion

First review: In the imp: Sweet fruit and a fruity flower. Strange. Wet: There's fruit and finally coconut! Yay! Dry: Okay, this is very sad. Sniffing the scent on my arm an hour later disappointed me. It was disgusting! It smelled like rancid milk. Category: No clue Rating: 0/5; Unless it shapes up next try it will stay this low. Overall: Normally my body works well with leather or coconut scents. Tonka is okay, just a little plastic-y like a vanilla-flavored plastic doll. I don't know where this went wrong. Maybe I didn't apply enough and was smelling something else on my arm. I don't know. I was so excited because it was a smoky leather and coconut scent. I'm DEFINATELY going to try this scent again (and again and again) since it didn't work. Yikes! ETA: New review! In the imp: Sweet, fruity coconut and lots of florals Wet: super-sweet coconut, like blood pearl's coconut but heightened sweetness due to the florals. Dry: Coconut, I'm getting a little bit of that leather now, a bitter note that has to be tobacco. At least it's not rancid milk. Category: Coconut/dirty coconut Rating: 3/5; Reminds me of Blood Pearl Overall:On it's own, it's not too bad. The real problem is that while the leather is nice to the coconut, the tobacco is not. I think the first time I tried this my skin sucked up the coconut, leaving the tobacco behind. This time the blend worked nicely for both me and my SO. It's just too similar to Blood Pearl to be kept right now.

    Dragon's Blood

In the imp: I can smell the pure DBR cherry scent and LILACS! Wow, lilac! Wet: The DBR has pretty much gone away, leaving STRONG lilac. Dry: My skin turns DBR to a plasticy cherry, like a cherry-scented plastic doll. Mostly lilac. Very faint, though. Sad! Category: Lilac/DBR Rating: 2.5/5; more if it lasted at all. Overall: I love the lilac of it. I don't think this blazes with strength, but it does clear my head a little. This would make a better incense, I think. It's sad that after an hour it's so faint I can barely smell it at all. Oh well. I may try it again or just let it go.

    Hell's Belle

In the imp: Mmm! This is booze and a light powdered sugar, pink flowers and a whiff of commercial perfume. Wet: The booze turns soft and the flowers seem spicy. Carnations? The powder is still present and seems a tid bit strong. The top note is sweet. Dry: Somehow this smells like a fresh coconut. It's light, sweet and yummy! The flowers are light and breathy and sweet. The spice is nice. Category: Light floral/booze/feminine Rating: 4/5 Overall: This was LOVELY! It lasted through a handwashing and maintained it's loveliness. I couldn't pick out Oleander at all, but that's not surprising. There was something in my brain that said "white musk... this MUST have musk in it!" But I didn't listen. I love that this scent was very feminine and sweet without being bubblegum-ish.

    Depraved

In the imp: There's something bitter at first sniff, but a lovely sweet fruit underneath. A sweet apple? A dusty, sweet apple? Wet: All dusty and murky sweet apple-like fruit. Dry: The dust has gone, leaving a deep, juicy fruit. I can DEFINATELY get the apricot through and through here. It reminds me of some peach/apricot soaps I had a few years ago. Category: Fruity Rating: 4/5; The fruit was lovely Overall: I couldn't stop sniffing this scent. It's so lovely and ripe! While the patchouli wasn't gross, it complimented the sweet apricot very well. While this has only the two notes listed, it's great in it's simplicity. I must say that this scent lasts and lasts! I had this on my wrist and it lasted through washings strongly. LASTING scent! Reminds me a bit of Fae.

    Queen of Sheba

In the imp: Sweet and GREEN dirt. I mean it's like living soil. That part is beautiful but the burnt hair smell underneath makes me want to abandon this imp immediately, but I won't. I'm WAY too curious. Wet: Still that burnt hair scent but it's sweeter now. Still that dirt, I think it may be part myrrh. Don't know why, but maybe. Dry: This smells EXACTLY like the second perm chemical bottle. It smells like the flowers and roses and sweet. There's also a sweet vanilla scent that is creamy as hell. I like it, after about an hour. Don't really get any of the spices. Category: Vanilla/Creamy Rating: 2.5/5; I'm neutral on it Overall: While the beginning has a smell of burnt hair, the end smell is very creamy and lovely. The lasting power is quite alright though, lasts through a nice handwashing. I'm going to have to try this again before I make a final judgement, though.

    Penitence

In the imp: A dirty resin, I think it's myrrh that's the dirty part. Wet: Soft powdered resin. I think that's the frankincense coming out. Dry: Oh wow is this not good on me. I don't think myrrh plays well with my chemistry. Category: Dirty/Resin/Church Rating: .5/5 Overall: I personally will not be wearing this scent, and I don't think ever. It reminded me of that aftersmell of gluttony that reminded my mom of baby pee. I guess I'm just not ready to be sanctified, my chemistry is telling me to stay away from church or something. I hope someone else can love frankincense and myrrh dearly to make up for my hating it so much.

    Sin

In the imp: Smells like DBR hiding under neroli or another abrasive citrus. Bergamot? Smells dirty, for sure. Wet: Cinnamon! I forgot there was cinnamon in this blend, completely forgot. Smells like dirty red hots melting in the sun in the sandbox or somewhere else dirty. Dry: Same as wet, too much cinnamon and powdery amber. Category: Cinnamon/amber Rating: 1/5, not a cinnamon person Overall: I didn't have any description while I was testing this. I knew there was something in the blend that I didn't like but couldn't remember what it was. Yeah, it was cinnamon. My body doesn't get along with amber either, so this blend was not quite right. The dirty smell was nice, but mixed with cinnamon and powdery amber made it gross. Not going to keep it. Off with you!

    Rakshasa

In the imp: I can smell lemons or sweet orange or maybe bergamot. Don't know how or where, but it's there. I can smell something like dusty, dry grass, I'm assuming sandalwood is what gives me that feel. Wet: The citrus is mellowing a bit, dry grasses still there. Dry: The dry sandalwood smell persists through everything. The citrus mellows out a bit by this time. Category: Citrus/Dry/Sandalwood Rating: 3/5 Overall: Beautiful and dry blend. I admit, I thought first of the DnD Rakshasa race, the foxman in his little fez and carrying his walking stick, but that didn't change much. I did like that this blend was more dry. I didn't get ANY rose from it, but that's alright. I don't know what to do with this scent yet, but I don't think I'll be wearing it much.

    Jacob's Ladder

In the imp: Sweet resins, slightly powdery coconut mint smell. Wet: Definately creamy, sweet resins. Slightly minty. Drydown: Powdery sweet resins. Category: Resin Rating: 2/5 Overall: Went all boring on my skin. Reminds me strangely of The Star, even though it's not. I didn't notice really any of the notes in the blend except for amber. Don't think amber really likes my skin. It's lovely in the imp, just not my style in the least. Off to someone who will love it.

    R'lyeh

In the imp: Wet and sweet and spicy, definate citrus scent. Wet: Wet, grapefruit melding with some soft spices. Slight incense smell. Dry: A lot spicier dry than otherwise. The watery part of the fragrance goes away almost entirely, except for that sweet tinge of grapefruit on first sniff. Category: Water/Soft Spice Rating: 3.5/5, nice scent Overall: I like the watery bit of it and the soft spice is very nice, but it made my nose tingle for the first few hours of wearing it. The almost-sneezy makes me like it less than I normally would have on scent alone. It's okay and I'm glad I tried it. I may keep it around for a little while to test some other time.
  25. PixieSkull

    Gingerbread Poppet

In the bottle: It really is gingerbread! Smooshy gingerbread with whipped cream on top. Very sweet and decadent. Wet: Buttery sweet molasses and ginger powder. It's almost like gingerbread with the hard sugar icing on top, it's very gingerbread. Dry: The downside is that the sugar is too strong on the drydown compared to the buttery or molasses scents. Category: Foody/Sweet Rating: 5/5, PERFECT gingerbread. Overall: Don't think I will ever really wear this because it makes me so damn hungry. It would be nice to wear if I ever want to fool someone into thinking I'm making gingerbread cookies or cakes or something. Don't know if I'd even use it as a room scent, unless my gingerbread doesn't smell as good (and I suspect it couldn't.) Would make a LOVELY lotion or bath potion.
