I was sniffing my scents today and I definately think that Hungry Ghost Moon is all springy with it's light scent. Sea of Glass time again, love the lilacs!

I'm lookin' for a metallic, leathery, spicy scent. Centzon Totochtin came close, but it was a bit too much cocoa. Something similar to Dracul. Non-BPAL could be good recs, too.

Dorian for Jareth just seems too... safe. I would choose something more masculine and sexual... he IS the manifestation of Sarah's sexual feelings (the feelings between childhood and adolescence.) I would say Dracul is much more Jareth... dangerous, dark, sexual. Sarah wearing Fae would make sense, for all the reasons mentioned above. I can see her wearing something like Juliet or Ophelia... sweet and flowery and innocent.

Olfactory caffeine: Wake up, Stay Awake with BPAL
PixieSkull replied to friendthegirl's topic in Recommendations
Aizen-Myoo is CRAZY citrus and is great for waking up, especially if you love citrus. The yuzu is insane and so energizing... I never knew citrus could be like that until I opened the imp and the scent almost exploded in my hand. Whoo! Mata Hari, to me, is very warm and cozy but when I mixed it with Hymn this morning, it perked me up something fierce. It's coffee and fragrant smoke and vanilla. It's like waking up to pancakes and coffee and buttery syrup, how you can't sleep through the succulent scent... lovely. It may have an adverse reaction while homesick, though. -
Pride is my FAVORITE spring green scent. Very green floral with a bit of white.

Vial: The cardamom and cinnamon are apparent and the lightness of the cherry blossom. No amber musk detected next. On: And the amber musk is out and it's very interesting. A very fragrant scent, a bit too much cinnamon and musk for the blend. Overall: While it's a nice scent, I think it's way too strong for me with too much amber musk. Too bad, it sounded very nice.

Mmm... this is just as luscious as I expected from the Yule collection this year. They all have a lusciousness to them. This is a dark red scent with black leather mixed in and a few dead trees standing around. It's definately a scent that I can imagine a man smelling like but also a lady.

This reminds me so much of playing in the snow as a kid, bundled up in our old neighborhood running around playing cops and robbers. It smells like the flurry of snowlakes that kicks up while running through the loose flakes in the alleyway, through the driveways and finally collapsing in a huge pile of shovelled snow. *sigh* It's lovely.

Oh, dark and earthy. I love the way it smells like an earthy celebration. Very few words to describe this scent, but it's pretty amazing for painting a mental picture.

Vial: Earthy and damp, nice. On: Surprisingly, the tobacco works on my skin very well and the labdanum must be the lovely extra to the scent I can't quite pick out. Overall: I'm surprised I liked this scent so damn much, I never would have bought it on my own. It's so pretty!

Smells pleasant but I got it more to actually help me sleep. A tangy metallic smell at first but soft and cloud-like afterwards. Helped me sleep a bit better

Vial: Definate sandalwood with an afterthought of DBR. On: The DBR jumps out first, being all cherry and sweetly plastic like a child's toy, pleasantly, of course. The sandalwoods are lighter than I expected but lovely. Overall: It's like I expected. Sadly, I don't know if I'll wear it. I have plenty of sandalwood scents now.

Vial: The resins and the skin musk are apparent at first sniff. On: HEAVENLY! I'm so glad I tried this scent, it sounded right up my alley from the get-go. The skin musk and orange blossom and everything else are all apparent in their own time. Gorgeous from start to finish. Overall: I LOVE this scent. I'm looking forward to wearing it over and over again

Vial: Golden apple, fresh and sweet and juicy... GORGEOUS! I'm not an apple scent fan but I'm changing my mind with this scent. The rest of the notes add to the sweetness and juiciness of this scent. On: This morphs from the juciest apple to a dark, moist swamp-type dragon scent. It's very very pleasant. Overall: I didn't read the description before I tried this frimp, and I'm glad I didn't. It was an unexpected instant love and wow is it a strong love. I didn't like Hesperides but I love the dragon guarding the garden. ETA: My changed skin chemistry (interesting!) makes me smell this as soggy apples. Not a favorite, but a solid like.

Vial: This is sweet, like a kid's new plastic toy. On: So sweet and incensy, very nice The lily and rose are such sweet light florals and the sandalwood and frankincense are so nice. Overall: While I love it now, I don't think it wears really well on me long, it works with my skin chemistry in a negative way that the longer it's on, the sweeter it smells.

Vial: The patchouli and orange blossom and carnation are blaring here. There's also an unspoken darkness to this one. Pretty nice. On: Dark and spicy at first. The carnations are in bloom and the orange blossoms have just bloomed but there's something growing underneath that is dark and spicy at the same time. Very interesting. Overall: I do like how dark it is in a more pleasant manner. This would make a perfect manly cologne. I think I'll keep it, I should wear it sometime. It's quite yummy!

Vial: Strong and earthy and slightly wet. On: A dark and dirty plant with a green stem and "lush" and "thick" scent. Nice combination between an earthy blend and a floral blend, leaning on dirty. Overall: Not something I'll wear, but I can appreciate the artistry of it.
-
Vial: Wow, vanilla! Slight floral undertone but mostly vanilla. On: This is sweet vanilla, much like the others it turns a bit plasticy. Not as much as other blends, but that's fine. Overall: I can definately see people loving this one. Don't know if I'll keep it around but I do like it quite a bit for the moment. Surprisingly strong.

Vial: Dark and musky and slightly sweet. On: It's murky, must be the vetiver and poppy and musk. The vanilla is very faint and the cherry scent is also very faint, too. Sad I get none ofthe clove yet. It's a musty plastic scent. Overall: It's not so bad, but I think my chemistry is doing something with the cherry and vanilla to make it plasticy. Better for others, I'm sure. That's sad, I wanted to love it

Vial: Very sweet and light as a floral. Tuberose, lilac and/or something very similar in feel. There's also a nice gren note with it. On: A very light floral, a lot like a springtime garden. "The Rose Sucker" is definately represented here. A faint scent, but not too bad. Overall: A nice, light springtime scent. I can imagine it would work really well for inspiring wistful love.

In the imp it smells like a dark, sweet juice. No wine here, just Cold Duck. On it first smells like a dark, sharp berry then it transforms to a bright fruity smell. Oh wow, was I walking around smelling like Jell-o! I don't know if I'll wear it again, but it sure was an interesting try.

So I'm going to be attacked or scoffed at for this, but it did not work for me. I mean, I smelled like diapers and baby powder and baby wipes. I could smell the vanilla okay but it was the amber being dusted on the baby's bottom, the almond was the diaper and the... something, I don't know what... was the aloe wipe. It was like a darker version of Gluttony, which my mom referred to as "dried baby pee, pure and simple." ETA: My skin chemistry has changed drastically and this is now very different and super-awesome on me. My massive skin chemistry change has opened my possibilities like crazy so I ordered a bottle to wear and let age. Since this was such a negative reaction before, I was hesitant when I put it on my skin. It was gloriously warm and vanilla-d. The only negative is that one of the spices gets a tiny bit acidic in the drydown phase before disappearing.

Alright, I thought Haunted might have been nice and dreamy and calm and lovely on my skin and... well... it was calm. At the mention of amber I should have ran, but I didn't. As all amber scents do, I smelled heavily of baby powder. I have no clue what it should have smelled like either. I'm of absolutely zero help to anyone on this scent, sorry, guys!

Bottle: I can definately pick out the peach blossom and something very golden at first. This is a sweet scent and very oriental. It reminds me of a bodywash my mom uses. Wet: Very fruity and floral, mostly fruity. It smells so much like my mom's bodywash that it smells like soap, I'm not sure I can get over this. I'll check back later on down the road. Dry: Very very light. The soap tones down and it's just a light, white floral. Either or, really. Category: Fruit/Floral Rating: 2/5; soap factor, but might just be me Overall: Either or scent for me. Okay but just not my thing.

I tried Libertine a while ago and forgot to post my review. Review: I found Libertine to be a powdery and dark floral. I could definately pick out the violet, which I don't think I get along with very well. The rosewood and red sandalwood and arabian musk were nice, but drowned by the floral, sadly. It was an okay blend, but bad on me. Category: Dark Floral Rating: 1.5/5; my skin amped the florals too much, they were too bright.
