    Berry Moon 2009

I was really excited to try this out when I bought a bottle from Scrappy, but was a *tad* worried that it wouldn't work on my skin as much as I hoped. I think I did ok! I really liked this wet, the berries were juicy and sun kissed and delightful. As it dried the fig and musk started to level out the scent and ground it, just enough to balance the berries from the sweet high they had when wet. I had a moment of fear after it had been on about an hour though. I wear Lady Speed Stick's raspberry anti-perspirant and at one point I kept smelling like I do when I'm pretty sweaty and my deoderant is starting to fail. Raspberries with BO. ICK! I'm going to attribute this to the skin musk being rebellious. I checked myself a few times to make sure it wasn't my pits, and hoped the scent would shift and not stay this way. Thankfully it did! For the rest of the day it smelled just like raspberries and blueberries with a hint of depth that I'm not sure what to attribute to. But overall, great stuff! Glad I have a bottle, I'm sure I'll use it regularly in the summer as it's clearly a summery scent.

Bridal BPAL - BPAL for weddings?

I was going to say Bon Vivant too. What about 51? Pretty close to vegas I wish I had found BPAL before my wedding. I wore Ralph Lauren Romance and that was a last minute choice because I had a seriously hard time finding "the right one" and just grabbed a sample of something I knew I kind of liked. I love making scent memories, and it was important to me what I smelled like on our wedding day, turns out it didn't work. I sniff Romance and get no feelings of our wedding day. *sigh*. If I were getting married tomorrow, I'd wear Lyonesse. I adore how that makes me feel and how it smells, and it immediately struck me as "my" wedding scent. If only I'd found it 5 months sooner!

    Les Bijoux

I was pleasantly surprised by this one! I smelled it in the imp and kept going back and forth between wether or not I was going to like the unidentifiable note that kept coming up (I don't know what frankincense or myrrh smell like to pinpoint them). The only thing that jumped at me was apples, and I like apples, so I decided to try it. Wet: Apple and "perfume" (still can't pinpoint what this is...). Honeyed sweet. Drydown: Still heavy on the apple. The apple has sharpened a bit, but not to the point of green apple sharpness. It's sweet but it's got bite. Surprisingly it isn't screaming "fruity" with all that apple, it's pretty balanced by that "perfume" that's turned a bit powdery. Dry after some time: This stuff sticks around! Most scents have to be re-applied before the end of my work day, or are gone very quickly. I got home from work and could still clearly smell it on my wrists (and my scarf!) I've concluded that this is a sweet and bright fruity floral, it's got great balance between each note (even the rose has a glimmer in the background). I really enjoy this!

    Lyonesse

Gilded is a great word in this description. This is warm golden vanilla. It's feminine, elegant and oh so gorgeous. It's timeless. This is the first scent I've tried that has lily as a note that isn't overwhelmed by the lily! There is a quiet undertone of floral, but the vanilla is the star here. If I'd discovered BPAL before my wedding, I would have worn this on my wedding day. I'm buying a bottle of this ASAP.

    Lolita

I don't get any sweetness from this until maybe at the very end when everything else has almost entirely disappeared. I don't smell what everyone else smelled at all... I don't smell any sweetness or fruitiness or anything else that's been described in that family here. In the imp: SHARP, with a hefty does of heliotrope and a teensy tiny trickle of the lemon verbena. Wet: Well there's a bit more lemon, but this is basically all floral on me. My skin amps heliotrope I guess. Dry: It softens into a scent that's easier to handle. The elements all blend a bit better I suppose. Still heliotrope dominant. After an hour it's only a shadow of scent on my skin. The lemon with a hint of sweetness is the last to disappear. I'm going to try this one out at a different time of the month. I've found a few scents I know well smell differently right now.

    Pele

I wore Calgon's Hawaiian Ginger all through high school so I when I got this as a frimp I was nervous to try it. I was pleasantly surprised! It's warm, tropical and kind of sweet. It does remind me of the Calgon scent, but it takes the shared notes to a more mature, elegant and classy level! Truly a beautiful scent, I'm just sorry it didn't stick around very long. My skin ate it in 2 hours, tops.

    Forbidden Fruit

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this from the description, but I figured I'd give it a chance. In Imp: Lotus and citrus. Kind of sweet. Wet: Lotus and some other kind of floral. I can't nail down what floral it is, but it's thick and heavy. Dry: LILIES. OMG lilies. Like a teeny tiny room full of blooming Easter lilies with no ventilation. UGH. Stiflingly thick and oppressing lilies. There's still a subtle sweetness underneath it, but the lily is so powerful that I can't handle it. I had to scrub it off. I used to like the smell of lily when I was younger, but it's so connected to death and funerals to me now that I just can't stand it when it's a stand alone scent.

    Verdandi

This smelled SO good until my skin ate it all after maybe 2 hours. I was sniffling my arms the whole way into work. Definitely herb-y, with the apple singing loud and clear. Sweet apple, not tangy. Like a really ripe Golden Delicious. I guess the depth of the scent was the amber doing its thing. Very very good all around, my only complaint being that it didn't last long. The plus side is I can try out another scent when I get home!

    Gluttony

Oh my lord this is AMAZING. Buttery, creamy vanilla, caramel with a hint of chocolate undertones. Rich and smooth and delightful and makes me so incredibly happy. I literally want to chew on my arm. I have never wished that perfume was flavoured before this. I'll have to settle for the cookie dough in my fridge, but it's a pale comparison to the cravings that this scent is giving me! I can't believe this is discontinued. I found my little imp, I'll hold out hope that I can find a bottle somewhere.

    March Hare

Mmmmm apricots! Spicy, sweet, creamy apricots!! I do smell a bit like a Yankee Candle, but a yummy Christmassy one that reminds me of baking. I want to nibble my arm. Edit: So while I was at a housewares store today I spent some time smelling the Yankee Candles section to try and pinpoint which one March Hare was reminding me of. Unfortunately I wasn't wearing March Hare because once I found it, it was all I wanted to be smelling all day long. *sigh* It was Farmers Market, for the record.

    Croquet

We have some trouble managing our flamingos, too. Pink lime, pink grapefruit, white nectarine, wild rose, sage, woody patchouli, bergamot, and ornery hedgehog musk. Well, I've found my first BPAL that does NOT work with my skin. I adored it in the imp, loved it wet on my skin (citrusy and sweet with a bit of depth that makes it intriguing and gets your attention). Then it dried and it turned into a horror show. I had gone to the mall, and kept catching whiffs of this cloying, thick scent with an undertone of baby powder. Considering the store I was in, I thought it was one of those horrible scents you often catch whiffs of at the mall and shrugged it off. Then it followed me into a few other stores, and in dismay I sniffed my wrist and realised it was ME!! It had turned into overripe (almost rotting) nectarine, the citrus just provided a sting in the rotting sweet smell. And then there was the baby powder. Ugh. I was so disappointed. But it was also making me feel ill and was ruining my shopping trip, so I went home and immediately scrubbed it off as best I could. This stuff has staying power. Two scrubs later with exfoliating wash and I'm still getting a bit of it. I'm sure this scent would be absolutely gorgeous on someone else, it's just not for me.

    O

Add me to the list of those who ADORE "O". I don't really find it sexy though, more comforting and warm. Vanilla, with the amber for richness and warmth and depth. Absolutely gorgeous! My only wish is that the honey came out more when it dries, it seems to disappear.

    Eos

In the imp: bright, soft floral with a bit of a sweetness to it. Wet on skin: Honeysuckle with a touch of the jasmine and that sweetness is still there but I can't nail it down (maybe that's the "softly glowing skin"?). Very bright and warm. Comforting. Dry on skin: Something else came forward - I think it's the buttercup. I quite like it! The honeysuckle has quieted but is still there, can't smell the jasmine. This one makes me feel safe and warm. I love it! This has quickly become one of my favourite scents. It is warm and happy and makes me feel good.

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Apparently I was very woozy from my cold when I posted earlier, I didn't mean that to be snarky and it totally came across that way!! Thank you for the recommendations Little Bird, I appreciate them (Though I wasn't digging for them when I posted, I had been looking back and noticed quite a few posts even before mine that had been missed or overlooked, and I felt bad for them, that's all). It would be nice if more of the experienced BPAL'ers would chime in with recommendations so that it didn't all stand on the shoulders of a few in this thread. Once I get more familiar with more scents, I'd LOVE to start making recs' too, I'm too new right now to even know where to begin

Wow, lots of people get skipped over in this thread, I didn't realize that when I posted

    Paris

I have a cold, and VERY limited sense of smell, so I relied on others to tell me what Paris smelled like today. Imp: I had opened the imp and made my notes when I was healthy. Very helpful! I smelled a sharp lavender with sweetness behind it (lotus I guess?). No spice at all though. Wet: Hubby says I smell like a Chai tea latte - so the spices must have been dominant when wet. Dry: I was told by 3 various co-workers that I smelled like raspberry. I have NO idea where that came from. Everyone said I smelled delightful, but I don't know where they were getting raspberry from?! Knowing the reviews had mentioned bubblegum, I asked if they were smelling fruity gum, but they each said no, it was distinctly fruity/raspberry. Co-workers are crazy?

    White Rabbit

My very first review ever! In the imp: I'm amazed that each note steps forward, plays a little with your nose then gracefully steps back to let another shine. I've never experienced anything like that before! Immediately I'm eager to try this on my skin and see what happens. The tea is a clear first, a bit creamy. Then the ginger and vanilla come out like a cookie, then the vanilla lingers into the fresh clean scent I suppose is the linen. How interesting how it starts on a warm, rich note then finishes on a crisp one. I find it really delicious! Wet on my skin: Spicy tea with milk. Reminds me of a chai latte. Immediately dry: it faded quite a bit from the obvious wafting it did when wet. Smells more like... arrowroot cookies? That's what is popping into my head at least. It's still swirling into the other notes though. It reminds me of my grandma actually, but in a wonderful way. Tea and cookies before bed with her clean skin smell lingering over me. 5-6 minutes: I was worried that this scent was fading too quickly, but then it gave me a good rush of honey and ginger. 10 minutes: definitely staying honey and ginger on me. I love it! There is a hint of crisp, freshness lurking in the background but it's very subtle. 20 minutes later it has almost disappeared entirely. I might just be used to it and am not smelling it as easily. I really wish I wasn't the only one home so I could confirm. Oh well. Final words are that I LOVE this, and hope it's just my nose and it is actually sticking around. Edit: I've worn this quite a few times now, and it seems to change each time I wear it! Each note has had it's day of strength. Ginger cookies, tea with milk, ginger with honey, vanilla tea, it's such a versatile scent!

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

What a fun thread! A "get to know you" as well as the scents! About me: I'm 26 (for at least a little longer...), married to my high school sweetheart, working at a natural pet supply store that focuses on better health of our pets through nutrition and other natural products. I'm a very laid back person, introverted for the most part, but bubbly and social when it's required. I was an english major in university, attempting for a minor in history but it didn't work out. But with that I'm a literary and history nerd who doesn't read as many books as I'd like. Shakespeare and classic literature are my weakness, as well as Margaret Atwood and historical fiction. I'd rather travel to a city rich in culture and history than a tropical beach. I'd rather spend time with my hubby and dog than with pretty much anyone else. I'm not sporty at all, and while I love the idea of hiking in the woods, but it's not my favourite activity once I'm actually doing it. My favourite movie has been the Wizard of Oz for as long as I can remember. I wore ruby slippers to my wedding and had a blue gingham garter. I've become a bit of a sci-fi geek in recent years, but haven't embraced it publicly yet. Firefly, Doctor Who, Stargate, etc. are my secret weakness. I don't like winter. I hate being cold. I also am not a huge fan of summer but only because of extreme heat and sunburns. I like fall. Autumn colours and crisp leaves and still warm enough to be comfortable with a bit of sharpness in the air. Spring is a close second with the inviting warmth of summer approaching, everything in bloom. I drive a silver Beetle and have been told it suits me. There, now that I've rambled, tell me what you think! Edit: Oh, and appearance (though it's supposed to be just on personality, but this might help a bit) I'm 5'6", auburn/brown hair and green/hazel/blue eyes. I'm not a skinny-mini, I've got curves (a true hourglass), but I'm *just* over the line to overweight. I'm confident in my appearance, but not vain.
