    Follow Me Boy

Follow Me Boy just intrigued me, so I figured trying it out would just be fun. Wet in the imp: FLORAL. Heavy, hot florals that are way overpowering for my taste. Skin wet: Still the heavy, hot florals that I can't narrow down. I want to say Jasmine and something even stronger. If it doesn't soften as it dries I might have to wash this off. Dry: Thankfully it softens! Still floral, but there's an undertone of... something almost sweet? Not a foody sweet in any way, more just a touch soft sweet. I want to say vanilla but not a foody one at all. Is there a musk here too? Not a heavy one, just something to blend with the floral headline. Later: Aaaaand baby powder.

    Voodoo Lily

Wow this is an immediate NO to me. It's one of the rare ones that turns into cat pee. It is spicy, and floral (strong lily) with a tiny undertone of something I catch maybe ginger? Then cat pee. Acidic and unfortunately gross. It seems so many others enjoy this, I'm going to chalk it up to skin chemistry.

    BPAL and pregnancy

I've just started playing with my BPAL collection since my pregnancy (he was born Jan 20), and have noticed a few small and other not so small chemistry changes. At least I'm still blaming my little one instead of cancer... though it might be part of the changing of scents.

    Eat Me

1 year later, can I re-review? I really do love this scent, but I seem to have it change on me after about 4-5 hours that it didn't used to. It starts to smell like a clearly fake sweet scent loses the beautiful and delicious-ness that it had. It also seems to have started taking on a slight plastic scent. Very unfortunate for this change in my body chemistry (since that's all I can blame!)

    What Scent Is This?

Okay I have another question: Mouse's Long and Sad Tale. I had an oooold decant that said it was a prototype, and since using up that one I've acquired two more. One is pale/clear like the prototype, the other is a gold-y amber colour. I can't tell you if them smell the same because I have a ridiculous head cold and can't smell a thing. Also, my BPAL has been closed up for 6 weeks since I found out I was pregnant due to some unfortunate scent aversion and I'm nervous that it hasn't gone away yet. So I can't tell you if these smell the same. Which colour is right?

    BPAL and pregnancy

I'm bumping this thread because I'm hoping that someone out there has more detailed information... Since becoming pregnant I've been forced (by some pretty awful scent aversions) to walk away from my BPAL collection. I've noticed these symptoms starting to subside, so I'm hoping that I can start wearing BPAL again soon! (I'm 10 weeks now). I e-mailed the Lab over a month ago with these questions but haven't yet heard back. I just re-sent my e-mail hoping to get a reply but in the meantime I'm coming here. There are a lot of BPAL scents that don't have a descriptive list of what notes are in them. For example, I just bought a bottle of TKO that I'm anxious to use, but I have no idea if it's safe. Does anyone know if there is more information from the Lab on what blends to specifically avoid during pregnancy? I know the basic notes that are discussed in this thread, but I'm worried about wearing something I shouldn't when I didn't even know!

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

I have no suggestions, but I want to know the answer to this too! I'm puzzled at this one, other than I know she'd smell GOOD. Living on a junkyard planet wouldn't make her smell bad And she'd have to smell "Blue".

    Spellbound

Very much red musk + ROSE. Both very strong notes trying to shove each other out of the way to get top spot. I wasn't sure if I liked this, then I got my answer. It started to smell a bit metallic after it dried. Metallic? I haven't had that reaction before... I think this one is a no.

    Phobos

In the imp I'm hopeful, but then on my skin (both wet and dry) it smells like lemon pledge. So disappointed! If I was a cleaning lady for a living I might be able to get away with it, but even then I'm sure I wouldn't want to smell like lemon cleaning products all day.

    Mag Mell

This starts out very fresh and herbal, but as it dries it almost gets a vanilla note. The amber and ginger take hold and ground it into a beautiful, everyday wear type scent. I do really enjoy this, I could wear this quite a lot when I don't want a scent that stands out and screams off my skin.

    Jezebel

Orange, mingling with the sandalwood and a touch of honey. For some reason this reminds me of Terry's Chocolate Orange, but woody instead of the chocolate. Sweet honeyed orange I think is why. I like it, but I don't love it. It might be nice layered with something, so I might use my imp, but it's def. not bottle worthy.

    Golden Priapus

I wish my hubby and I could switch skin chemistry for this scent! I had him try it first, since it's supposed to be a masculine scent. Turns out on him the vanilla and amber take center stage. I loved it, but he did not. It was warm, and sweet, and rich. Gorgeous. Then I put it on my own skin, thinking "If it smelled that good on him, it must smell similar on me!". Unfortunately I was not so lucky. On my skin it was entirely juniper and pine. No hint of sweetness anywhere to be smelled. It smelled almost like a Christmas tree (a live one), which is lovely but isn't what I like to smell like. If it had smelled like that on hubby it would have been a winner! So we both struck out with Golden Priapus. Off to the swap pile it goes!

    What Scent Is This?

Oh YAY! I'm really really happy that this is probably Hermia! I will have to buy a bottle to age it!

    What Scent Is This?

I'm not sure if this is where I ask but I'm giving it a shot. I received a package of imps in the mail today, and immediately put two on to test. Hermia smells NOTHING like I expected, and in reading through the reviews I really wonder if it's not the right scent. I do really like it, so I'm just tempted to buy another imp and see if it's the same, otherwise I need to know what this actually is! The notes in Hermia are supposed to be: Pink pepper, golden amber, honeysuckle, and passion flower. In the imp I immediately thought: well this is a LOT warmer than I expected, maybe the amber is taking charge? I put it on, and it just turned into this amazing warm, golden scent, a bit sweet and creamy. Eventually a subdued floral has started to emerge, and I guess it *might* be the honeysuckle but I'm pretty familiar with honeysuckle and unless my nose is broken today, this isn't it. I'm not sure what passion flower smells like, but from what I gather from the reviews, this isn't it either. It's got amber, I can tell that much for sure. There isn't any spice from the pink pepper whatsoever, and it seems to have a strong presence in the reviews. What made it interesting to me is that I have Vasilissa on my other arm to test, and they are remarkably similar. Very much the same mood and tone, and I would classify both of these with Lyonesse as a sweeter, non-foody, warm and classy scent. I didn't expect anything remotely like that from Hermia. So is this just how Hermia plays out on my skin chemistry (if so, YAY!) or do I have a mystery on my hands? (Or is it option "c", that my expectations of what Hermia would smell like were way wrong? This is also a possibility).

    Celeste

The vanilla in this is sweet. Very very sweet. I almost can't handle it at first, because it's a bit cloying (hubby announced that it's "too much" for him and he doesn't like it, so I can only wear it on days that he's not around). It also has a lot of throw so you can't avoid this phase if it gets to be "too much". As it dries it mellows and takes root, bringing it down into a more grounded sweetness that's easier to handle. I don't really start to LOVE this until about 3-4 hours after application. I love foodie scents, so I'm not sure why the sweetness here is so overwhelming at first, other than the fact that it's NOT foodie. I do quite like the vanilla of Celeste, and I think it's the saffron that comes out after a few hours that brings it down into a scent that I really enjoy. If only it weren't so cloying at first it would be perfect.

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

I love some of these Doctor Who rec's! I've spent some more time thinking about it: Rose: for some reason I picture Delirium fitting Rose quite well. Fruit, flower and a bit of an edge from the lemon. Martha: Tweedledum. I'm not sure why exactly, but I picture her wearing tea/fruit scent and Tweedledum just fits her (maybe I'm biased because I don't like her...) Donna: Donna has to wear something that fits her sparky, smart-@ss attitude, but I have not figured out what that is. Maybe Chimera? But that seems *too* bold. Amy: Bordello. This just screams Amy to me. Or O. Rory: I love the suggestion of Antony, that completely fits! River: I picture River in Snake Oil. A bit sweet, a bit sexy, a bit mystery. As for the Doctor(s), I'm still don't know where to begin!

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

Anyone want to take a stab at Doctor Who? Even just limiting to the reboot doctor/companions there are a LOT of characters to consider! I got to thinking about this today and had a lot of fun wondering what on earth the Doctor would wear, then realized that each regeneration would wear something different! I don't have nearly enough knowledge on BPAL to take a stab at it, but I'd love someone else's take on it! 9 Rose Mickey Jack 10 Martha Donna 11 Amy Rory River and we really should include Sarah Jane.

    Bravery, Courage, Confidence, Intimidation, Power

Mme. Moriarty was the first scent that came to mind for me when I saw this thread, but then I realized that this was more accurate.

    Lemon, Lemon, Lemony Goodness

Lemon Scented Sticky Bat!! On me it smells like lemon meringue pie! It's lemony and sweet and delightful
  21. I've found that my skin seems to eat up tea notes, so Dorian turns into cake with lemon, White Rabbit is lovely, but no tea after an hour, Baobhan Sith entirely disappeared as soon as it was dry, The Apothecary smelled entirely of herbs, Lilith's Tea Party is lovely and sweet, but no tea, etc. The only scent that seems to hold on to the tea note on me is The Dormouse! I'm happy to have found a tea scent that sticks around. I suspect it's because it's got SO MUCH tea and it's not just one small note of the scent. The peony does start to take over after a bit of wear, but it's certainly my most successful tea scent.

    Eat Me

This is so cake-y and delightfully delicious that I wish it really were edible. It makes me think of white cake with rainbow chips, with buttercream icing. The very first day I tried it, it smelled a bit more like the currants, but they seem to have disappeared (must be the time in my cycle or something). I can't believe I waited so long before ordering this! I should have ordered it on my very first order and I would have been wearing it for months already! The lab included a frimp of this in the order as well, so I've got a bit of time before I have to order a bottle, but I absolutely will be ordering one as soon as I've used up one of the imps. This skyrocketed to the top of my favourites list. Hubby loves it too, and not just because of the name
  23. Lemon Scented Sticky Bat!! I opened my bottle as soon as it arrived and jumped for joy at how wonderful it will be to wear through the hottest summer days. I was hoping it would smell a smidge less like lemon meringue (which is what it did on me), but I do love it. The other scents I've thought of for wearing a lot during the summer seem to be fruity/citrusy scents and light florals: Amsterdam Cheshire Cat Delirium Eve Pele Persephone Schrodinger's Cat Squirting Cucumber Verdandi I think a lot of the foodie/sweet/deep and heady scents that I loved through the winter are going to be too heavy for me to wear through the summer. We'll see.

    Cheshire Cat

I've worn Cheshire Cat so many times, I'm surprised I haven't done a review yet! This scent is so bubbily and happy and joyful, it puts me in a better mood just by putting it on. The citrus is bright and zesty, like I've cut open a grapefruit next to a sweet tangerine. Delicious. As it dries down and after a few hours of wear this really mellows. It becomes softer, sweeter. It's almost got a creaminess to it that's really quite pretty. Now for the subjective part. In spite of how much I should just adore this scent, I don't. I'm not sure why. I do like it, and I've worn it repeatedly, but it's just not one I want to rave about, which makes me a bit sad because I feel like Cheshire Cat deserves to be adored. My co-worker (who sniffs my wrist every day to see what fun new scent I'm wearing) says it's one of her favourites on me, I wish I felt the same.

    Shub-Niggurath

I love that this is being referred to as "Evil gingersnaps"! That's PERFECT! This is completely gingersnaps, but without any hint of sweetness or sugar that some are covered in. This is hot, spicy, gingersnaps. I get a tiny bit of cinnamon (a bit like Red Hots) which just adds to the spicy. I don't know if this is the kind of scent that suits me, but I do enjoy it!
