    Van Van

Big, bad vetiver! It's thick and rich, slightly tangy, like rich, churned earth, drying down slightly sweet and powdery. This imp will wait and be whipped out at just the right moment. Powerful stuff.

    White Light

I am loving this. I have been majorly stressed out...lots of changes in my life, some disturbing, others exciting but still mind cluttering. White Light has definitely helped calm my ass down. I think I will start wearing it to work. It smells light but not at all innocent or girly...just what I have been looking for. If I had to compare it to other BPAL I would say it smells something between Sacred Whore, Morocco, and Namaste. It is slightly herbal and astringent, which could be good frankincense, with a soft, clean white floral, and incensey spice. It sits close to the skin and gets nice and creamy without being too sweet. I feel like a temple. Om....

    Honeysuckle blends

I am all about Euterpe with her honeysuckle goodness. WHY in the world was this scent discontinued?!

    Scent of "skin" recommendations?

Sed Non Satia has honey is a bit nutty to me. Judith and Holofernes is also in this category on my skin, but is a little less nutty and I prefer it. Definately try O. Amber, peach, apricot, resins, and sometimes patchouli all smell like warm skin to me, and that is really what I love in a perfume.

    All about plum!

Bordello and Mme Moriarty are my favorite plums.

    Miss Lupescu

Animalic musk, with amber, patchouli, ho wood, cypress, almond blossom, golden sandalwood, and strange spices. I really don't find this feral. Wet it has a sweet chewyness/herbal thing going on that reminds me of TKO but without the lavender. Then the spice really comes out. It reminds me of the more cinnimony blends like Bengal and Chimera. It dries out more complex than these, though, with a slightly fruity drydown (lotus?). Beautiful, powdery musk but alas, the wearlengh and sillage is not in your face like this Mme wants. Must slather repeatedly... ETA: Raven Moon's GC sister!

    The Coiled Serpent

Deep, diry patchouli and something a little sweet on the drydown. Love it. I'll mix it with O.

    Olokun

Watery, ozoney melon. Dries out salty and sour on me. Not my type of scent.

    Velvet Tiger

Whooo-la spicy, smokey vetiver! On the skin there is a blast of orange, then onto...MORE vetiver! On me, it gets really dank. DH loves it. Dries out to an orangey, powdery...VETIVER! Lovely, if you like that sort of thing.

    Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self-Similarity v2

This little drop of decanted heaven does not have a number and it was gifted to me in a swap. Sorry folks! To me it is almost all O with a hint of somthing slightly more sugary floral, like a little Mouse's Long Sad Tale or something...sweet pea? cotton candy? Yum!

    Namaste

A chakra's system's delight! It is mostly lemon dried out to a woody patchouli on my skin. The heart is very subtle. It is stimulating and focusing...a working scent, less of a perfume than my usual BPAL tastes.

    Event Horizon

Smokey, sweet and dusty. If you liked/loved/missed On Darkness, try out this baby. It is very similar, but less fruity. Yum!

    Lilac!

I don't think it's particularly lilacy. It was very dusty and dry incense on me...

    Almond and Amaretto

I'm waiting to see how Ms Lupscaru (sp)does... ETA: It's really almondy at first and then gets dry and spicy. I like Hecate and Snake Oil better.

    Eros

Kiiiind of like White Rain shampoo initially; DH says it's like scented toilet paper. SHUT UP!!! Give it a minute...Fresh lilac, fruity red tea, and sweet, dry resins. There we go! It gets fizzy, then slightly creamier and more transparent as it dries-like honey incense dust. It's a great warm weather scent for a dark scent lover like me. It's clean without being soapy or girly or too "nice". It's slightly herbacious, and not too floral. I love lilacs, but in perfume sometimes they make me feel too wistful, like a child or a grandmother. Not here. Mixin' with the beloved myrrh and sexy honey. YEAH!

    Fascinum

This reminds me of Bengal, more more like an advent calander I had when I was a child: kind of lemony and spicy with the amber. Dries out a little musty like Haunted does on me. Swap.

    Shoggoth

No, no, no, no...citrus blech and coconut. I can't wait for the osmathus or the musk. Not my style AT ALL.

    Desdemona

In the bottle it is fresh and lovely, like arranging flowers in the cathedral on a Friday afternoon. But on me...it smells like nailpolish remover. This is why I generally do not do flowers. I love them...just not ON me.

    Debauchery

Ooooh, NAST-AY! Love this one...really! It reminds me a bit of Darkness (must be the opium) and Sin (dark, smokey, kind of spicy) but with the dirty, dirty, sweet hot sex scent of civit. It makes me smile when it dies out sweet and powdery. The man and I both wear it.

    Giant Vulva

Pass the buckets! This is some good stuff! Wet it almost smells like ginger ale, almost (almost...) lemony: tangy and bubbly, slightly spicy and floral and a bit sweet. It has a similar feel to Haloes, actually! Drying out the skin musk and citrus/white floral honey come to the front with a slightly darker, creamy base. Just lovely! This is about as "fresh" as I go in a fragrance so it will be perfect for summer. It has amazing sillage for a honey frag. DH walked in the door, I was 3 rooms away and he says, "Ooh it smells GOOD in here!" and snuzzled up. (We don't usually like citrus in our fragrances so this is quite amazing). I really was expecting something more heavy and incensey, but am glad I now have some more variation in my collection. Thankfully, I snagged a bottle. Love, love, love!

The search for the perfect Violet....

Violet lover here! Don't know how I missed this thread. La Befana (like violet pipe tobacco), the Raven (a little disjoineted-sharp violet and skank musk, but I still love it), and Violet Ray (DH says it smells like a naughty nurse!) are my faves, and yes, I always thought that Antique Lace had a violet feel but nice and powdery. I love Serge Lutens Bois de Violet-dry, woody violet with a chewy earthiness. I'm holding out for BPAL to make one I love so well.

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

I don't wanna sound dumb but i just wanna make sure... You don't have to mix BPAL oils with a carrier oil, right?? I can just open my bottle and put some on can't i? Im only asking because i have never used any BPAL before but ordered some a few days ago. It sounds great. Anywho... If i do have to mix it with another oil where can i find it on this site??? You can wear BPAL straight up. Some people have sensitivites (like me and cinnimon...I can't put her on fresh out of the shower) but most have no probs. Only dilute if you want/need to!

    Honeysuckle blends

I'm a diehard honeysuckle rose conditioner user! I use it as a leave in (thick, curly hair). Bat Woman is my new honeysuckle lover.

Red Currant, Black Currant & Cassis scents

Florence for her dark berries and spice. YUM!

    Bat-Woman

I just had a huge bouquet of fresh lilies in the house and they smelled so good. Looking through swaps I came across a full bottle of Bat Woman and I had the goods to go, so I took a chance. I am not a huge floral fan, but I have been searching for years for a honeysuckle scent that I can wear without feeling too innocent. Bat-Woman fits the bill. Wet, it smells almost like a gin and tonic-not exactly citrusy, but green and clean. Drying out the floral notes zing along, especailly the moonflower accord; I grew moonflowers and love them dearly, but have not found a blend to wear them in. THIS is the one. The "air" notes give the florals a lift that I really do enjoy, and the grey amber makes everything powdery. I love powdery. Oh, I love this! She is the spawn of Lyonesse and Ouija, I think.
