This is turning out to be one of my lab favorites and I've been arguing with myself about buying a back up. It is a beautiful scent. I don't pick up on the patchouli at all, but the dragon's blood is lovely with what I suspect is tonka. Dragon's Blood can be a love it or hate it component for me and I love it in A Witch Riding a Dragon.

I'm not sure how to describe the stages of this one. In the bottle and wet on my skin, the snow really stands out. I LOVE the lab's snow scent! The ambers go powdery on me (happens all the time), but in this blend it isn't an "old lady powder" and I don't mind it. After a while it turns in a sweet, creamy scent that I have the hardest time describing. I will say that when the words BPAL and creamy are used in the same sentence it usually spells disaster to me but I like this one a lot. I'll wear it often and hopefully don't use it all before I get to see how it ages.

In the Bottle: In your face lavender - strong, but pretty Wet On Skin: Lavender and something that momentarily seems mossy. Dry Down: This turns completely in to sweet tarts on me and stays that way for a couple of hours After a While: A couple of hours later this mellows out to a slightly icy spray of light floral. The lavender disappears, so perhaps it is carnation. Its very pretty at this point but has very little throw once it gets past the sweet tart stage. It's nice, but I believe I will put this one away for a while and see how it ages.

I purchased my imp over a year ago, I think (someday I will have to start marking labels with date). I didn't care for it much then. Fresh musk has a tendency to become powder on me. Now it is a true red musk and a floral I am assuming is the ylang ylang. Unlike many on this thread I do not get any patchouli. It's pretty, but not a bottle for this girl.

This is a frimp from the lab. The description by its words would have had me hooked....it sounds lovely but I have learned to be very Leary of the terms "creamy" and "pink". These usually do not work in me as they tend to turn to plastic. Mind you, my favorite scents tend to be either spicy or icy. In the bottle, this smells like bubble gum. I hate bubble gum but something underneath peaks my interest so I try a dab anyway. Bubble gum goes away instantly and I kind of like what I smell so I put on a little more. I really like this actually. It very pretty and feminine, which I tend to shy away from but this one plays well with my chemistry. My favorite part is between wet and dry down. Once it dries it takes on a somewhat soapy quality. Some musks go powder on me which I expected of the pink musk but the soapy smell isn't nasty or overpowering and the other notes that I am fond of are present. Something tells me this would be a good one to wear for an introduction to someone you need to impress... A future in law or something like that. I love the reviews above that describe this as an older ladies impression of youth, and a fairy tale. Both very fitting analogies! This one s a win and may someday be a bottle purchase. We'll see how it ages and what my husbands reaction to it will be. Edited because my autocorrect sucks

This smells yummy in the bottle. Not at all what the list of notes would have made me think. Very Carmel cookie. But the moment it touches my skin it is instant nasty plastic and smelly socks. I'm not even willing to wait and see how this ages. Once plastic, always plastic. I gave it away to my daughter.

I had no idea what this was when I placed my order on Black Friday weekend. I was just thrilled to get an extra special imp. I didn't know what it was for or what was in the blend until after I put it on. Oddly, my first association was with Blockbuster, but it lacks the funk that BB has. I was not impressed by it in the bottle. Maybe it's what others are perceiving as "metallic". But as it dries, it warms up nicely to a dark, rich cedar & amber with a hint of something floral. It smells to me what I think a cedar hope chest might smell like. It's an appropriate relation. To wrap this one up into a few simple words: warm, woody, rustic and aged. Speaking of aged, I think this is only going to get better with time. Too bad it's only an LE imp!

In the bottle and wet on the skin the snow note is predominant almost to the point of smelling chemical. This is also when I can smell the berry the most. After about an hour of dry down, the chemical is gone and it is lightly reminiscent of a snow covered forest. I love the dry down but sadly it doesn't have much throw or staying power on me so unfortunately requires reapplying.... and this means the harsh wet smell. I do like it and I suspect that a little aging will go a long way, so I will be hanging on to this.

Omg! This is SO sexy! In the imp I get almond mostly so I wasn't sure how I was going to like it. The almond doesn't stick around very long once on my skin. It disrobes into a sultry herbal, floral with a hint of spice. It's got a mild throw that seems to say "come and get a little closer, my love.". It's not overpowering but makes a statement for sure. I think this is very fitting for its namesake. I love this one, Beth! I may have to own a bottle when the imp is gone.

In the imp this is amber vanilla with something lightly green. It morphs quicker than most scents do on me and I promptly get the evergreens. Unfortunately, the variety of vanilla in this blend is the kind that goes seriously play dough with my chemistry. So after about 15 minutes into the dry down I smell like a ball of play dough that has shredded pine tree car freshener. Such a shame. It had such potential.

In the imp and wet on my skin it smells a little like orange cleaning product. It's not horrible but not awesome either. On dry down it takes on a orange sweet tart scent with a hint of what I think is neroli. It's nice but not me. I think it might layer well with something spicy. It doesn't have much throw either.

I do NOT like this at all. Strong cloying perfumy. I had to wash it off after about 15 minutes.

I definitely get "victorian" from this. In the bottle it is lemony-soapy with a slight tea note. Wet on my skin it very lemon tea and cologne. As it dries down it gets a little powdery (at least on the wrist application) as musks often do on me, but its not an unpleasant smell. Because scents tend to behave different on different parts of me, I can really pick out all the components of this one from various areas of my body. On the back of my hand is the only place I get the sugared vanilla and that is my favorite chapter. It smells more manly to me than I normally care to wear and I find myself wishing my husband would let me slather him with it (he doesn't wear any kind of cologne or "smellies" other than deoderant). I like it. It smells like a freshly showered man. Its just not something I think I will wear much of.

This is predominantly cocoa on me. While the incense is notable in the imp and wet on my skin it takes a backseat on dry down. I never pick up the leather which is a little disappointing. The incense is still lightly there in the crook of my arms but not on my wrist. 4 hours after applying it still has good stay power and enough throw to make me happy. Light cocoa floral is what it settles into. Nice. Bottle worthy.

This is amazing. I LOVE Love! I can pick out all of the notes. I was afraid it would be plastic on me or that the rose would be too much but this scent works so nicely on me. It is everything I hoped for from Self Portrait but better. It's fresh, soft and sweet. Not cloying or over floral at all. After about an hour the strawberry really comes out but it doesn't smell fake or candy-like. This is yummy and I am sure it will be a go-to bedtime fragrance. It smells like sweet dreams.

In the imp I got what seemed like sarsaparilla soda pop! Dry I still get just a whiff of that but it has an earthy quality and something aquatic that I think might be the seaweed and/or moss. I didn't read the description until after testing so I am pretty amazed by the wet smell I got! I would never have thought to try this one (though I am quite fond of moss), but thanks to the frimp fairies I got to try something unusual. Thanks! I really like this one. There is something distinctly witchy about this that endears me to it. I don't know about a bottle, but maybe it could make the wish list once the frimp is used up.

Whoo! That's a bottle of violets there and boy does my skin AMP that! This is very similar to this years Dias De Los Muertos. I like it but it is very strong. This can only be worn in small doses and probably not to work where some people complain about fragrances.

Evocative of the sea's unplumbed mysteries. Gentle and lovely, but menacing and profound. Coconut, Florentine iris, hazelnut and opalescent white musk. I disliked this one so much in the imp that I didn't try it for a long time. Wet it is strong floral iris and a little musk. I had a hard time with this phase as it was cloying. When it dried it mellowed out a lot. I get the iris but it fades behind a coconut/hazelnut combo that smells a lot like Tropical tanning oil only lighter. My skin eats this one too it seems. I haven't had it on long but it's pretty light. It would make a nice summer fragrance when you need to be subtle. I won't be buying a bottle but I might get a little use out of the imp.

My jury is out on this. In the bottle it is all pepper. Very earthy! Wet on my skin I still get the pepper and it morphs in to a dry ginger after a while. I'm not able to pick out the other components but when my friend put it on it was sweet and lovely. I am envious! I keep trying it hoping for a similar result but to no avail. I suspect this one will change a lot with age so I will put it away for a while and see what happens.

This is a pretty scent. The honey and rice milk are dominant in the bottle and wet on the skin something in it goes somewhat plastic on me for a while. It settles down in to a light honey with a hint of floral. It's not love but I do like it a lot.

Fresh imp from the lab. I have only one way to describe this one both in the bottle and on my skin: Irish Spring. Just like it!

This is the 2009 version, given to me as a gift from a friend. This is very much wood smoke and Kalhua on me. When it dries down I can faintly get an incense quality, but mostly it smells strongly of cocoa but not in a foody way. I like this one but my chemistry can really morph this one sometimes. It is one of those that I can wear sometimes and other times... no so much. There is a lesson to be learned here: just because something doesn't smell good once, doesn't mean it won't smell great the next time.

This is a gingerbread loaf with a lemon drizzle frosting served with coca cola. Somehow I get a light hint of chocolate too. In the bottle it is very foody, almost candle-like. It is quite similar wet and then dries down to my first description. Ginger hasn't been good to me in the past. I wanted to love Burning Vulva... and did when it was in the bottle. But it turned to that cloying "old" baby powder scent. This is a truly warming ginger. This might make it to my bottle list (if only there was room for one more!)

This came as a frimp from the lab. It seems to me in a relatively recent order and I too have a label that says Loralei. I first tried this without reading the description and my first thought was of a sweet honeysuckle perfume I had as a kid. In the bottle it is sticky sweet floral (thus honeysuckle association, I suppose). On the sticky sweet tones down and it reminds me of the smell of a flower shop, maybe a little less green. The floral really stays and I didn't get any sandalwood until well after dry down and it is very faint. It gives it a slightly smokey vibe, but only a little. Its a very pretty scent. It doesn't seem to have much throw and I suspect it won't last very long on my skin. I like it... definitely not a bottle for me though.

I got this as a frimp quite a while ago. I didn't care for it then as it tended to go quite powdery on me. I can't say how long this is aged, but I think at least a year. This is very much dragon's blood, but not the floral dragon's blood that I am used to in Beth's blends (maybe its the age). This is heady, incensy, resinous and a little smokey. It smells just a little like Snake Oil on me, only less sweet and no vanilla. The tendency to turn baby powder is gone. I have been wearing it for about 2 hours now and it still has the same effect as wet only quieter. It has some throw even though I didn't apply much. I like this much better now than I did when I first got it. I am glad I didn't give it away. This will probably never make the bottle list, but I will enjoy the frimp. Edited over a year later: I just purchased a bottle of this. LOL! I opened my empty frimp and thought OMG! I gotta have this. I tried so hard to get just a little more out but alas, I will have to wait for my new bottle to age.
