I've not tried the previous Spanked, but it looked good to me. It IS good to me! Yeppers, I done been spanked. YUMMY! The cardamom sings above the other notes for a while, and then the patch joins in, and the two start blending nicely. Mr. Leather never hits me hard, but he sort of takes a pull off the bourbon bottle and exhales sweetness over the whole shebang. At extreme drydown, I get a sweetness like the last drop of whiskey in a glass on the nightstand, drifting off to bliss after an evening of questionable behavior. WOOF! Thankyou, Hillary, for the icon!!!

When I saw the notes, I NEEDED THIS! Luckily, the lovely Ahania was doing a decant circle, and I stumbled in and joined! So. This scent is utterly cracking me up. In the imp it's sweet and perfumy and resinous. And there's a familiar smell tugging at me, and I can't place it. On my skin, there's more of that. It's very pretty, and I like it a lot, and I am perplexed by the blend. During early drydown, I'm thinking, "Is that rose? Or what?" And I decide it smells perfumy in a nice way, but maybe it's not a bottle purchase for me. THENNNNnnnn...it finishes drying down and I AM IN LOVE. Beautiful, incensy, and complex. I finally reread the notes and said, "DUH!!! It's CHAMPACA!!! Sometimes I wonder if I burned out too many synapses in my earlier days. Oh well, I just grow new ones as I go. This is a really great scent for me. My wallet is screaming. I can hear it...poor thing. I smell wonderful!!! Oh and on the LONG drydown patchouli quietly comes out to play. LOOOOOVE!!!

I LOOOVE Boo 2010! Now, I didn't try last year's Boo, so I cannot compare the two. However...Boo 2010 gives me heavy whipping cream with some sugar stirred into it, and this hint of sandalwood waaaay around the edges. I guess that's the ghostie's sheet. And I get a buttery scent on and off, but nothing overpowering. The way the cream wears on me, it gives me some vanilla. REEEEEEEEEALLLLLLLLY yummy stuff! The creamyness reminds me of a creamy note I get from Calaveras, which I absolutely adore. Boo 2010 is my new Comfort Scent.

I love this scent! A LOT! It's exactly as rich and beautiful as I thought it would be. However, much to my chagrin, my skin eats it--in ten minutes it's disappeared completely. This doesn't happen to me very often. *sigh* So I guess Pom V would be a scent locket candidate for me!

Fire, smoke and ash scents
ElizabethOSP replied to dreadpiraterustypants2's topic in Recommendations
Saturnalia, if your body chemistry is right for the smoke. It seems to be 50-50 amongst us all. I happen to fall in the forest fire category. Saturnalia's vetiver smells like a fire, then a barbeque, for several hours on me. Then it turns into the Perfect Violet. -
Switch Witch 2010 Questions...some of them...
ElizabethOSP posted a blog entry in ElizabethOSP's Blog
Whoa. Found more questions! 9/28/10 Do you collect stones/rocks? I'm talking like "semi" precious stones, ie moonstone, bloodstone, quartz ect. Are there any that you're looking for at the moment? Are you in need of a stone but don't know which kind? I love rocks and crystals. I'm one of those folks who always comes back from the creek with rocks in my pockets. I endlessly hanker for quartz and smoky quatrz and amethyst and rose quartz. My students give me granite rocks, and I treasure them. Is there anything from Blooddrop that you want to try? GC? Halloween update? Sure! Anything... Do you like paper dolls (new or vintage) or coloring in books? Old paper dolls are really cool. What song is on heavy rotation for you right now? A bunch of mine...hubby is remixing the album Do you like garlic? Do you REALLY like garlic? Would you want to try some really unusual garlic stuff, like garlic cheese or garlic fudge or garlic chocolate, etc., etc., etc.? I cook with garlic constantly, I grow garlic, I eat it raw, I dry my own when I have a decent crop...love the stuff. I would try something unusual. A while back, a friend gave me a tin of garlic mints. They're actually pretty good! Can I talk to you about the living dead? How do you feel about Zombies? Zombies are cool. Brainssssss.... Hello, my Awesome Witch! I found some more questions to answer. I hope I'm not repeating anything. 9/17/10 Are there any particular movies, tv shows or cd's that you've been meaning to buy for years but just never got round to getting? Would you mind a gently used dvd/cd if your witch had it or could get it?? a new copy of Kiki's Delivery Service! My dogs wrecked my old copy...sniff.... Is there anything from the Possets' Hallowe'en update you're lusting after? Ooooh, yeah! The whole thing!!! But seriously, Gypsy Grave. Or Wraith. Do you like the candy apple, candy corn or pumpkin spice kisses? I don't know what these are..but like all the flavors... 9/16/10 If I were to knit a scarf, would you prefer a skinny one, or a wide one? A short one, that when wrapped once around your neck will just tuck under your jacket, or a long one, at least to your waist? I love scarves! Long ones. Skinny or wide. Don't like scarves? My husband and I used to have an Italian restaurant. I was the baker. If I send you something home made would you like the recipe for it? Yes, please! If you are someone who doesn't want baked goods sent, would you like a collection of some of my favorite recipes? I love baked goods! (I'm currently loving those White Chocolate Ginger Bread balls!!!!) I also collect recipes How about home made mixes or kits? Herbal (I know, technically those are NOT teas, but tisanes)? Flavored blacks/greens? I like everything except lapsang souchong (can't remember how to spell it). I live in forest fire country and that tea tastes like the air tastes whenever we get evacuated. Weird. 9/15/10 How do you feel about silly, funny knick-knack, dollar store stuff, stickers, magnets etc? Would you like receiving that kind of stuff or rather not? Love it If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes? Hell yeah OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns? I prefer long socks, above the knee or even higher. I leave everything else to my Witch, but I love Halloween socks How do people feel about word magnets Love 'em If you could have any costume, or if you aren't into costumes, necklace or other accessory, from any movie character, what would it be? Love the stuff If you've got stuff on your BPAL wishlist, would partial bottles be okay? Oh yeah!!! Would you like something you have to make yourself? Yes Say you were my witchee, and I found things on your wishlist that I could totally make. Would you want me to make it? Or would you rather it be purchased for you? Make it. Making is Good. Who is your favorite soap etailer? Love 'em all! What about vintage decoration items, teacups, etc etc? I love old things! Any old things. With regards to your gifts, would you prefer your presents' awesomeness evenly spread out (several packages of pretty terrific things) over the round or a slow build-up of awesomeness (going up from pretty cool things to something super-duper cool at the end) to go out with a bang? Do you have a preference? No pref. at all... Do you crave many Ecards and contact or are you okay with little contact from your Witch? Microsoft or Apple? Both, but I prefer Apple Where was your last vacation? What did you like most? Monterey and Sebastopol, CA. The whole family went visiting in Montyerey, and eldest daughter and I took a bellydance class from Tempest at Tribalfest in Sebastopol while younger daughter, son and hubbie revisited Salmon Creek. I loved the driving, the dancing, and the dinner at Sand Bar and Grill on the dock in Monterey! Great trip. Would you appreciate receiving handwritten letters and/or postcards (anonymous or not)? How about sending them? Yes, and yes! Do you hate any food things with a passion?? Oh, I guess fish that smells REALLY fishy... Would you be opposed to receiving a digital version (via email) of a magazine you like but don't subscribe to...you know, in the interest of saving a tree? I love digital! Hallowe'en plans? I think I answered this below, but it's changed, so: I do have a gig! Yay! We're playing a Halloween Party the night before Halloween, and then we're planning on trick-or-treating with the kids and friends here on the mountain. Much fun! Soft/plushy things Yes. Jane Austen? I love classic literature, and am utterly ashamed to admit I've not read Austin yet. eBooks Yes Being able to shapeshift into a big cat, a panther or lynx, would be righteous. If you could go back to any point in time, where, when, why? I have so many times I'd like to visit...mostly to apprentice with some of the artists I love. If I could pretend I was a guy, I could mix Da Vinci's paints for him. Woof! Favorite Halloween Candy/Treat? Chocolate. Hershey's Chocolate. And Stoli to wash it down. What are your favorite baked goods/homemade treats? Um...everything? Heh. Would you be interested in an astrology birth chart? Always. Warm drinks? Yes. Coffee, tea, herbal tea, cocoa with peppermint schnapps in it, mulled cider, mulled wine. Do you wear make up? Yes. In everyday life I usually just wear kohl-style mineral powder eyeliner...sometimes lipstick. When performing I wear a lot more. I especially love black eyeliner and red lipstick. What is your favourite snack food, something you could grab any time? Crackers and cheeses and fruits, oh my... Hallowe'en plans? At the very least we'll be trick-or-treating with the kids. Up here in the dark, dark mountains with no sidewalks or street lights it's a screamin' good time!!! Hopefully, we'll play a Halloween party too. Maybe do a little divination or talking to the spirit folks. Mix CDs? Yeah, I think so. I'm so focused on our own recording process right now, but I LOOOOVE a lot of music!!! Are you someone who'd rather have lots of small testers of different things on your wishlist, or would you rather have one or two "big" things? Whatever my witch wants to send! If you are a crafter, would you like to receive supplies from your witch (beads, fabric, yarn/roving etc?) Oh yes! I make jewelry with beads and various found objects, do a tiny bit of silversmithing, and I love to spin wool roving into yarn with a drop spindle. And this isn't crafting, but: I do a lot of oil and watercolor painting, so paintbrushes are always loved and then appropriately worked to a nub! I draw with pen and ink, and do calligraphy from time to time, so interesting inks are joyously rolled around in. Soundtracks you'd like? I can't remember at the moment... Would you like a bag of dried Honeycrisp apples? Not sure what these are. If you were to receive a knitted item (such as a scarf, hat, etc), what colors would you like? And do you have any sensitivies/allergies to any materials? I love bright colors, especially reds, blues, and purples, and black. No allergies. Gift Certificate: physical or email? Either way Favorite Yankee Candles? Or other brands scents? Well, I am a candlemaker myself, but I do like some other brands. I can't for the life of me remember what they are! Sheesh. I'm not a Yankee fan. I like aquatic, spicy, woody, incense, and fruity/herbal notes in candles. Would you like a zuni animal fetish? And if so, what animal? Oh, Raven. I love Ravens. Cake or Frosting? YES! Are you a foodie? To some extent, depending on the blends. Spices and vanillas are very nice. I'm finding I enjoy fruits as support to other scent notes. I love herbs. Countries you are interested in Wow. Probably all of them, truth be told... Would you enjoy homemade bath products (bath salts, fizzies, etc.) and/or linen sprays? Yes. I like stuff like that--I make stuff for myself, and I enjoy trying other folks' goodies, too. I only have a shower (rustic mountain living, don'tcha know ). How do you feel about silly, funny knick-knack, dollar store stuff, stickers, magnets etc? Would you like receiving that kind of stuff or rather not? Love it! Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to? Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman Are you open to receiving things that are not on your wishlist, maybe something your Witch thinks you might like? Absolutely! If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes? Oh, yeah! OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns? Knee socks or longer...bright and obnoxious! How do people feel about word magnets? YES! Chocolate or other types of candy? Yum! For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags? Either is great If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls? I love scarves, I love shawls...I live where it snows in the winter, so I use these things happily! Is there anything you need for your kitchen, ie measuring cups, spoons, grater, ect? You know, a tea strainer with a finer mesh screen would be lovely. Music, DO you prefer Live or Studio? Edited or explicit? Live or studio is fine. Explicit is fine, too. If you are an animal lover, is there a specific type/breed that you love most? Tuxedo cats, Belgian Sheepdogs, Guinea Pigs, bears, mountain lions, stellar's jays... Also flowers and plants- If you like flowers/plants, do you have a favorite(s)? Wellll, all of them really! What is a bpal scent that you've been dying to try for awhile but just can't find? Anactoria--I keep missing it on ebay and the for sale forum Let's say, hypothetically speaking, that you have some children/spawn (1 or more), and, hypothetically speaking, your witch would like to spoil them a little but knows nothing of kids these days. What do they like or dislike? Also is there anything a (sane) adult might think they would like that you don't think is appropriate for whatever reason? (I'm thinking of things like temp tattoos, make up, things that make noise, or anything else that might be bad for non-obvious reasons.) Three kids, ages 8, 14, 16. They all love to draw. They all enjoy stuff that glows in the dark. What would your last meal be if it could be anything in the world (sky is the limit, drinks too, the whole shebang) Wow, I don't do much fantasizing about food. Like my Auntie Carlene: Frozen chocolate yoghurt. And I would add Dom Perignon champagne to wash it down. -
Gryphon, you said it for me! LOVING Calaveras!

This one seems like red musk single note on me, too. I like red musk in blends--it adds a nice depth for me. However, when I put this on I mean SLATHERED it the first time, I got a funny but unfortunate connection to my childhood. I won't elaborate. Anyway, I let it sit for some time, then tried it, more LIGHTLY, again. It was better, but I was still wondering what to do with it. Layer? Swap? Enable a friend? Well, I still might eventually do one of those, but after reading the reviews of my more experienced companions in here, I am going to hold onto it for a while. You Ladies are saying that our Infernal Lover may age nicely. I'll join the waiting game! I mean, after all, I'M aging nicely, so.....

The more I wear this, the more I like LOVE it. Despite the whole Death vibe, this reminds me of something in my childhood. Orris does that for me. It makes me think of bubble bath! Soooooooo...Lady Death, lounging in a musk, myrrh and patchouli scented bubble bath, sipping very dry champagne. Smiling. Of course, I can't actually smell the champagne, because the Lady and her bath smell so very good, and their scent dominates one's senses. Heh. This is beautiful, earthy, sweet, and dry. I just got an imp of Dance of Death from the lovely opsgrl on ebay...going to have to get a bottle soon!

In the decant, rosy and floral. Wet on my skin, it reads as tea rose. I get a wee hit of what I think is the jasmine and pink pepper, and maybe the vanilla bourbon, which backs off and then returns. I never do get an identifiable jasmine hit from Emma, and I theorize that some of the resiny feel I get comes from the vanilla bourbon. Then everything starts to blend, with the rose staying on top. It hangs out like this during initial drydown, with the patchouli as a subtle foundation for the rest of the crew. The final drydown ends up as sweet, resinous, rosy and delicious.

For some ungodly reason, I had this idea that apple blossom would smell wrong on me. And the "golden apple" listed for Ladon worried me, too. Again, why is this concern there? Was there some apple blossomy thing I used as a child that marred my psyche? SHEESH!! I am really silly sometimes. Ladon is drop dead beautiful. It just IS. And as I wear it, the dragon's blood is gradually coming to the fore. I wandered into the Hesperides' garden when ol' Ladon was off rummaging in the trees on the far side, and now he's noticed me and is strolling over to take my measure. And he likes me.

Oshun worked with me when my husband and I were first getting together (as a couple) about 20 years ago. We're still together, making music, art, wild sex, and...oh! Did I say that out loud? Heh. Umm, anyway...since then, I've always felt a love for and from Oshun, but didn't do more active work with her. When I saw the TAL oil, I couldn't NOT get it! Last night, I did a quick ritual and anointed my easel with Oshun and Hymn to Pan before working on a painting that I was starting to fight with. They sang to me as I painted, and helped me release my fears about ruining the effect I was trying to get. I liked the results last night, but when I went and looked at the painting again tonight, I was taken aback--the results were GREAT! Suddenly you could see the spaces, there was more depth, the modeling on the hands jumped out like I wanted...yessssss. The emotion was there. The answer to the visual problem had been two-fold and extremely simple. Oshun and Pan danced me through it and out of it and teased me about having ever let myself get tied in a knot! I love 'em both!!!

Oh, I'm right there with ya, angelicruin!!! Add some tobacco and very dark chocolate on my skin. I would grovel remorselessly for bottles of this. BOTTLES!!! Oh please please pleeeeeease?!?!?? EAT: Oh wait! I meant ETA! Freudian slip...ahem. Several hours later, the drydown smells kinda dirty and sex-smeared. I want to roll in it.

Thankyou, Lab, for the frimp! Snoofing the vial, yummy grapefruit! Perhaps a citrus blend feel, too. Yum! Wet on my skin, grapefruit and a whiff of floral skipping by in the distance. I then get an almost clementine scent, and then it goes back to...grapefruit, herbs, and floral. Emphasis on the citrus feel. It's a fairly gentle, happy scent on me. I may have to get a bottle! But this is the really fun part: After a while, the main scent fades, and leaves the ghost of a citrussy smile on my skin! It really IS the Cheshire Cat!!!
