Chaos Theory VI: Recursive Self-Similarity v7
nightshaede replied to Kitrona's topic in Limited Editions
#605 In the bottle: Lime and amber?? Wet: Amber with dry lavender. The lavender must have been what I thought was lime. Stupid nose. Dry: Ooooo. Now I'm getting soft suede and vanilla, with some smokiness and a touch of lavender. I love it! It's very unisex. Later: Eventually the amber goes a little powdery, but the suede and smokiness mostly keep that in check. Once the amber fades the vanilla comes forward and sweetens things up, but it's still very gender-neutral. The scent stays close to the skin throughout. -
In the bottle this smells like cherry cough drops, sweet but a little medicinal. On and dry, the sweet fades to the background and I get leather and booze something smoky/sharp/tobacco-ish coming forward. At this point it starts to smell like a mix of Mahogany Hall and Saloon #10 atmosphere sprays. A while later it sweetens back up a little and settles down as a kind of smoky-sweet leather. I'm a fan of the darker/smoky/masculine scents, and I really like this one. I imagine it'll age nicely, too. Yay!

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume
nightshaede replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Recommendations
I think The Bow and Crown of Conquest smells like a more subtle version of by Kilian's A Taste of Heaven. Yum! I'd love to find a BPAL that's close to Grandiflorum's Absinthe. I think it's discontinued now, and I'm hoarding my last 1/3 of a bottle (and hiding it from the boy, who loves it too). The notes are wormwood, vanilla, orange, grapefruit and rosewood, but I don't smell much citrus in it except maybe a little orange, but it's a sweet orange not a citrus-y one. It's a strong sweet herbal with a little warm wood, and more of a fall/winter scent. Any ideas for something similar? -
This was a frimp from the Lab. I *love* Kill-Devil, so I was looking forward to trying this. In the imp it's all sugary honey, and not a bit of rum or anything boozy. On, it's still super-sweet honey until dry-down, then it's.... waffles with butter and syrup. I guess this is what happens when the rum's gone-- the pirates all head for the Waffle House.
