Lilith has been taking kiddo Shakespeare classes for the past four years, and absolutely loves them. Last year, they did a mini-series focusing on Julius Caesar, King Lear, and the Tempest. The kids analyze the plays, and perform scenes from them; then, at the end of the cycle, they put together a play of their own based on the themes in the works of Shakespeare that they have studied. Their play this time around was entitled Evil Bunny. Lilith performed as Marc Antony, and showed off her orator skills. Hearing Lilith speak at Caesar’s funeral gave me the chills. She came to bury Caesar, not to praise him. Macerated myrrh, rose petals, and iris with frankincense and a splash of blood. Again not my normal sort of scent but I figured I would give it a shot. On early drydown I get sweetish myrrh, with something powdery (iris?) and non tea rose rose. Nothing is overpowering, I do not really get the frank or blood at this juncture. The rose is pretty nice, sweetish not too fresh but not long dead either. After a little bit the frank comes in with the myrrh. Still no blood though. Eta: late dry down appears to be a sweet myrrh and rose petal.

THE CHANGELINGThe Changeling, Henry Fuseli. Blonde wood, linen swaddling, pumpkin rind, and bourbon vanilla. Wow, first? Shoot! In the bottle this smells like a less fruity version of Channikuya (spell?) Very rich and almost sweet. I get a bakery scent from it (pumpkin maybe?) On this loses a little of the baked edge and brings out some almost cologne like florals. It still has a cool sweetness, but this isn't what I was expecting. As it begins to dry down the vanilla comes out a bit more, but it doesn't quite come across as bourbon vanilla to me, it is kind of subtle. The blonde woods are very nice and I expect that this will age well because of them. Fresh (it is basically right out of the mailbox) this doesn't quite work for me. I'll give it a few days and retest (and update if it comes to it!)

Lilith played Ariel and Miranda, and said she liked playing Miranda more. She said it’s easy to relate, because her mom is a lot like Prospero. I’m still trying to figure out whether that’s a compliment or an insult. Ivy and lime rind, marigold and moss. Please keep in mind this ia not my normal sort of scent but since no one had reviewed yet I thought I would take a shot. On early drydown I get mostly the ivy with strong undertones of an almost bitter lime but a little sort of spicy floral sweetness from the marigold. I do not get any moss at this point. It is actually pretty nice, not something I would reach for but not bad, not quite masculine, I would say pretty unisex. I will update if late drydown changes. Eta: late dry down is actually a nice rounding of fresh lime and ivy made nice by a breath of marigold.

SINGLE NOTE: WILD DANDELION Simple and fresh and fair from winter's close emerging, As if no artifice of fashion, business, politics, had ever been, Forth from its sunny nook of shelter'd grass - innocent, golden, calm as the dawn, The spring's first dandelion shows its trustful face. - Walt Whitman A scent as fresh as spring and as radiant as summer: the splendor of a crown of golden petals, the tartness of sap and pungent greens, and the gentle touch of white seed florets drifting in the breeze. This scent is crazily accurate for me. I get in the bottle the smell of faint sweet dandelion heads (the flower), a little of the milky stems and a wash of the fresh not quite bitter leafy green bits. On me at least in the short term it stays pretty true. Will edit in the long term dry down. If you like how actual dandelions smell, especially if you have fond memories of picking them on warm almost summer evenings and lying in the grass as the sun is just a glow on the horizon... You want this SN.

There is nothing that sparks joy for me quite like sharing something I love with Lilith. Shes been playing console games with me on and off since she was five, though she took a break from Diablo for a while after Brian bailed on her to chase after a treasure goblin. Blue raspberry slushy, a bowl of strawberries, and microwavable popcorn. This was one of the bottles I had to get for myself as a gamer with a gamer family. In the bottle it is all sort of fake blue raspberry, but on the skin a little fresh not plasticy strawberry comes to mix with the candy like blue raspberry. The popcorn note comes then, a little buttery, a little salty. I was worried about it but it actually blends nicely. This is a foodie blend, but interesting. The popcorn keeps it from being cloying. I will update for late drydown. Also this is fresh from the mail, so ymmv.

Agree with Liber, green before dry down, but once dry a soft, warm fuzzy sort of skin scent. Kind of cozy. Well blended, just sort of a nonoffensive incensey blend that wet I woulda have passed on but dry... may be a keeper. Bet aging might deepen it.
-
So strange- my imp was marked hearth ‘04 but this smells almost exclusively of buttery chestnuts and some sweetness, which I would think would just be for ‘05. If I come in quite close I can tell there are some things behind the butter sweetness but hard to tell what

This is one of the least foodie foodie scents ever. Actually minda like it. NOT very sweet and honestly kinda light on the brownie portion. A lightly chocolatey cakey pumpkin scent with a hint of caramel and a dry down with sour creamyness. Pleasant and as I said not terribly sweet.
-
I will update if I remember for late dry down but my skin amps the cardamom to a high greenish cardamon which smells like something that should not be paired with sweets OR worn on me. Really unpleasant. Thanks skin chemistry. You ruin many things. Under the overpowering savory cardamom I get a hint of mild, creamy cake if I stick my nose in deep. Maybe late dry down will be better? Eta it is calming down to a tolerable scent, not very sweet and still not a winner for me but no longer something I have to immediately wash off either.
-
Man, does my skin hate this. Chocolate often goes odd due to my skin chemistry, in fact Chad is probably the only one I have found that is wearable. This starts off nice sweet chocolate syrup and ends up plasticy, powdered cocoa that is bitter. Just... bad juju all over for me. Disappointed, as others obviously get something very different.

Lilith's Kwamie Cotton
Deceitfuldescender replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Event Exclusive Oils
This is hard to describe but I want to try because I like this almost as much as Love Low which I am starting to think may be my fave ever. So disclaimer, people keep mentioning dragons blood and I am not sure I know what that smells like so this review may miss that. In the bottle this reminds me of dryer sheets and I was pretty nervous. Wet it stays the same but as it dries it morphs into a soft cottony, cuddly scent with a sort of hint of rich sweetness that is not foody, and a milkyness that is also not foody. As described by others this is more of a feeling than a scent strictly, like yes, somebody's well used lovely, clean but enriched by all the cuddles, adventures and passing days it has experienced. This has a very low throw and my skin does eat if pretty quickly, I am happy to reapply though bc like Love Low it is so comforting. -
Dear god, do not walk, run to buy this is you even slightly suspect you might enjoy it. The pumpkin and spices are present but mild in this blend and the pom and cherry balance each other with sweet and tangy to give this lush RED note combined that is sweet without being even a hint cloying and is just so good. This may be the hit of the season for me.
-
This is magical but hard to describe. It is sugary florals, Lavender, marshmallow. But the marshmallow is more like f@#k meringue, the sugared florals are like capax infinity. A hint of maybe citrus, and not lavender dominant. Really special, thank you fairy for this!
-
The late dry down of this has made this a sleeper hit for me. A perfect blend of honeyed skin musk and sweet vanilla creaminess with just the faintest touch of dorian and lavender. Honestly kind of perfection, may need another bottle because it is just comforting.

Chastising Your Dragon
Deceitfuldescender replied to dementia_divine's topic in Event Exclusive Oils
I amp Cherry blossom I guess. Drydown is mostly cherry blossom softened with a touch if creamy milkyness. -
This is my favorite of the dragon con perfumes this year. A bit out of balance wet, but so nice dry. Marshmallow often goes weird on me, but this is a nice melty marshmallow, vanillay with a touch of honey over ripe peaches and a whiff of mint. Unique and delicious without being overwhelmingly foody.
-
This is nice, the musk and coconut come together to make a creamy and light red musk with drops of fruity currant and a "pop" of steel which gives a coolness but is not heavily metallic. Pleasant but not something I need multiples of.
-
The mint and ozone are very strong in the bottle and wet, but within maybe 15 minutes this dries down to a lovely, not too sweet vanilla with an undertone of musky mint. Pretty much a perfect not quite foody snow scent.
-
This is a surprise win for me, in the past I would never have tried this. So glad I did, may actually be my fave so far. The frank, myhrr and amber provide such a smooth base, so classic and almost warm but the pear and apple top notes give some sweet coolness that make this both snuggle and refreshing at the same time. A revelation!
-
Disclaimer, TKO did not work for me and I never figured out why. This scent is much more what I wanted out of TKO. A sweet herbal lavender backed by a dreamy and completely unplasticy vanilla with just a twist of kind of sweet coconut. Not suntan lotiony, not astringent or too herbal. Pretty wonderful, and once the feels quotient is added in I think I will need some back ups.

-
First lace I have retested that is just not my speed. I can do some roses, but apparently tea rose reads unpleasant to me on my skin. It is dominant, mixed with nice sort of strawberries and cream scent. Not a winner for me.
-
Pretty sure I am testing the original version. At first while still wet I hate this. Redhots, so spicy. Then while I am not paying attention it dries down to sweet cinnamony sugar, kinda foody. Very pleasant. Red hots are all gone, just nice sweet cinnamony spices.
-
Dry down is mostly spices, some touch of pumpkiny baked good. I love gourmand but some scents overwhelm me but this does not. It is darkish and almost incensey on me. Odd but not unwelcome.
-
So aged this is actually very lovely. Almost all these notes would normally be really awful for me but they have aged to almost even working on my wonky skin. The Pink sugar seems predominant because it is a sweet but not over sweet scent. I cannot pull put the other scents, but it is sort of a golden rosy flower with some earthy grounding notes that give it a surprisingly complex but well blended dry down. Not sure if I should keep or not, it is actually quite lovely but not my normal scent. Edit to add: the rose and violet are actually quite tame
