    Medea

Not bad... a heavy floral but not 'heady'... just darker. I can't pick out any notes in particular though. They all blend together so well. Just as I start to identify the cypress, it melds into the labdanum and black currant for a sweetened 'woodsy' scent. It actually reminds me of walking though a Civil War battlefield in NOLA, right off the river. Cypress and flowers. Just gorgeous and intoxicating.

    Rapture

Rose, rose, rose and jasmine. Need I say more?

    Wanda

Red merlot and sweet musk. I'm loving this scent. It's so beautiful and womanly... hedonistic and sexy. Must order a bottle.

    O

Chocolate??? Me and DH must be nutsoid or something. I smell cocoa in O and he smells vanilla in Bliss. o_O This is a wonderful blend... amber is still baby powder on me, but that's okay because I'm kinda likin' the babypowder/honey mixture. I still swear I'm getting chocolate instead of the vanilla that's supposed to be there.

    Lucy's Kiss

Rose and spicy herbal. Good, just not my style. The rose ups it's score though... love BPAL's roses...

    Faustus

Cinnamon and frankincense.... I was hoping more of the cinnamon and violet would shine through but I guess not. After drying down, I just get the frankincense. 5 minutes later... hmmm... why is my wrist itchy? OMG... BIG ITCHY RED RASH OF DOOM!!! Wash it off, wash it off, wash it off!!! Never again....

    Sea of Glass

Oceany aquatic notes with splashes of citrus. Slightly like fabric softener sheets... which is okay since my fabric softener sheets are ocean breeze scented. I love these oceany sea ozone scents... they're so uplifting. I definitely want a full bottle of this.

    Seraphim

Sandalwood and frankincense. This is a light floral scent; clean and airy flowers that waft by silently, not the kind that overpowers and induces headaches.

    Sin

The amber and patchouli really grab me on this one. This is a wonderful amber... which usually smells powdery on me, but this is wonderful goody-ness and full of warmth.

    Cathedral

This smells just like Brimstone to me. Which is kinda ironic when you really stop to think about it. Brimstone and Cathedral. This is woodsy smoke and incense bottled. EXACTLY like wood smoke, so if this is your thing, great! It'll work out for you perfectly. Woods are just not my thing I guess. ETA - Me and DH went to visit some churches/cathedrals in Venice and I must say, that incense blend (minus the burning wood) that Beth uses in this is DEAD ON to the what these places smelled like. I seriously walked right into the front door and said, "OMG, it smells like Cathedral!" and DH just kinda looks at me like Duh... we're in a cathedral..... < rolls eyes > Men, they just don't get it.

    Bess

Ooh.. lemon peel and orange flower are great in this. The lemon peel is a nice fresh citrus instead of that sour rind scent you get from R'yleh. The rosemary beckons in the background while the roses take center stage and strut their stuff (god, I love BPALs roses). The mint is making my wrist kinda tingly, I hope it goes away because I'm really loving this scent.

    Intrigue

Hmmm... intriguing. Sorry, I just *had* to. *GET ON WITH IT!!* Okay okay.... At first whiff I get bitter chocolate and wood notes. Heavy on the wood... like there's a 2 X 4 shoved so far up my nose, my toes are getting splinters. Hard to pin down which wood though... I'm getting whiffs of cedar and oak though. Woods just don't seem to be my thing, but if you like them, this is a good scent for you. Then again, I could just be burned out from Brimstone.... Get it? Burned out? From Brimstone? Gads, I crack myself up!

    Brimstone

Well, at least the lab description is accurate... wood fire, smoke and incense.... and not in a good way (at least for me). The wood fire note comes out slowly but whaps you over the head when it's out in full force. I find myself almost wishing for the overload of incense again... almost. I smell like I just got finished rolling around in a cinder bin or cleaning out a chimney. Where's my top hat and chalk dammit, I want to be "Bert" and dance with some penguins! >_< 10 minutes later and I'm catching a whiff of some faint sweetness. Not enough to talk me into keeping it on any longer though. Dancing penguins would be the best thing about wearing Brimstone... that is, if there were dancing penguins in the first place.

    The Coiled Serpent

Whoooa!! Heavy on the frankincense and patchouli there!! Instant headache. The incense note comes out slowly and reminds me of a NOLA "voodoo" bookshop I went into once. I can almost reach out and touch the books on the shelves and the jars of herbs lining one wall. Nice, if you like patchouli and incense... not for me though.

    Bliss

Chocolate Milk... pure and simple. Straight shot. The "I-want-to-be-naughty-and-blow-bubbles-in-it" type of chocolate milk. Clean, semi-sweet cocoa scent with a dollop of cream. I asked DH to sniff it and asked him what he thought it was... his answer, "Hmmm... yummy... vanilla!" ** forgot to wash this off last night and awoke with my wrist still pressed to my nose and sniffing it's chocolate-y goodness. As with most BPAL scents it hasn't faded completely in more than 16 hours, it's just a toned down version. Now, it just smells like faint chocolate cake mix. Still chocolicious!

    Cagliostro

Smoky muskiness. It's a very wonderful masculine scent IMO. A dark musk with images of a smoky gambling hell filled with young lords playing card and dice games until the first rays of sunlight touch the horizon. A haze-filled room with men huddled in corners over tables and a husky shout for some more refreshments. Just a very light ethereal whiff of flowery innocence climbing through the spicy haze but always disappearing again into the darker, more sinful depths. It actually reminds me of my grandfather's cologne.... the one my grandma says makes him smell like a whorehouse.

    Snowblind

PEPPERMINT!! It's scary peppermint... seriously. I mean, overwhelming, knock your santa hat wearing butt onto the snow-covered ground peppermint. When I first put it on, that's all I get... peppermint, peppermint and peppermint. Oh... and just a smidge of... peppermint. You know when you eat a peppermint and every breath you take you get that tingly "cold" feeling? I still get that from Snowblind... and no.. I haven't eaten my arm off... yet. After drying down, I finally catch a whiff of the vanilla. It's a very nice creamy vanilla.... like it's being muted somehow. It's not the strong stuff coming straight out of the bottle in your kitchen... it's the soft scent you barely catch a whiff of as you're stirring it into your cookie recipe. I have to wonder why everyone keeps describing it as a vanilla-peppermint though... it's definitely a *lot* heavier on the peppermint. The vanilla is a soft afterthought. After about 20 minutes, it's blended into the softest foody scent... like some cookies my grandpa made once. Neither peppermint, nor all vanilla.... it's creamy and milky.... hints of sugar. Maybe some sugar cookies. If it wasn't for the random "coolness" of the mint I would be reminded of sugary cookies in the oven any time of the year... but the mint makes it wholly Christmas.

    R'lyeh

The descriptions of "evil grapefruit" ring true. I first recognized the tangy note of grapefruit... along with something spicy. Can't put my finger on that second scent. Kind've a smoky note... but not cigarette smoke... confusing. At first this is just a hideously strong grapefruit. I brave it out and it settles down a lot... still tangy though.... just a little bit of bite left. I'm not a fan of grapefruit so this will definitely go into the swap pile. It's not a totally bad scent after it settles down.... just not for me.

    The Haunted Palace

OMG... this smells wonderful! In the bottle I get a very citrusy orangey scent.... hints of other spicy, passionate notes in the background... but they're ethereal.... I can't put a name on any of them. On me wet, it's *very* orange... a ripe, full, juicy orange. Sweet and tantalizing. I want to gnaw on my wrist now.... After drying, it's still marvelous... a rose note has broken forth and is mixing wonderfully with the citrusy spike of orange. Beth does roses good. Seriously. Every rose scent I've tried so far I've fallen absolutely in love with... every other rose perfume I've tried on the "outside" has instantly given me a headache and turned to soap. Ten minutes later, something else has come forward... amber I think. There's also a hint of something faintly powdery. Wow... this scent has gone through so many mutations in just a short time. I'm loving it!! It changes moods as often as I do!! I bravely keep sniffing forward through the medley of wonders.... aha!! There's the vanilla... it's slightly hiding behind the flowery powder scent... I think the gardenia? This is such an interesting scent. As these new notes progressively take center-stage the previous ones do not disappear... they fade a bit but they are still noticeable. Half an hour later and it's apparently settled into that flowery baby powder note. It's sweet and innocent now. Lighter and airy. Just wow.... I want more!

    Dragon's Milk

Dragon's Milk.... You know that pink soap that they use in WalMart restrooms? Yeah that. That's all I got with Dragon's Milk and probably all I shall ever get. I don't think it's a bad thing... I actually like that soap... LoL. But sadly it's not a must-have BPAL for me.

    Delirium

In the imp I get lemon and soap. As soon as I apply some I get hideous childhood Cinderella-ish flashbacks of Lemon PineSol and Pledge. And I know there's apple in it... and I'm searching vainly for it but coming up with nothing but... lemons. I catch a delicate rose in there as well... a lighter white tea rose scent as opposed to the oodles of ripe red roses that I'm normally drawn to though. After half an hour this has settled into rose finally. I catch a whiff of some tartness in the background... is it misplaced lemon? Or maybe a greener apple? We may never know. This is definitely a lighter, more summery scent as other posters have commented. I will be saving this imp to try again with the warmer weather. It's fun and flirty and perfect for a spring picnic.

    Harlot

Oooh I'm loving this one! At first sniff I smell strong cinnamon with a wispy fragrance of heady red roses. I'd never have thought that cinnamon and roses would complement each other but this is just beautiful. I've always adored the more foody kitchen scents that remind me of cold winter nights and sugary goodies baking and bubbling in the oven and this does that.... add in the shared romance of a candlelit dinner and passionate night alone with a lover and you have Harlot. It's reminiscent of every love I've felt in my life. The unconditional love and understanding from my family and the undying, unyielding, passion from my husband. After wearing it for a half hour or so, the cinnamon is still strong but has moved to the background while the roses take center stage. Wet and heady, sweet and soft.... it's just *perfection*. Another half hour later and it's settled into a sweet lovely scent that almost seems neither cinnamon nor roses... they have merged into one glorious scent that tickles my senses and makes me smile. This one is a definite keeper and I shall be enviously hoarding every drop.

    Whip

My first BPAL love... A friend sent me an imp and I instantly fell in love and she surprised me with a whole bottle!! I hope to never run out. This has become an almost daily scent for me to wear. So much so that now my watch smells insanely of Whip... < drool > I'm not a huge overtly flowery fan but Whip is fabulous... not to mention that my husband seems to have an affinity for it as well. Which is good... I was hoping he'd finally graduate from his love of my 9th grade perfume Vanilla Fields. At first whiff this is definitely a rose not for the faint of heart. This is no gentle tea rose garden scent and I love it that way. This is a dark, fierce, passionate rose. Reminscent of sexy knights and their leather horse tack after a violent thunderstorm.... rode hard and put away wet.... After drying, it's a definite long-lasting scent. I can wear this for hours and still smell it wafting around me. It's a rich, deep dark rose scent that is absolutely heavenly.... or sinister depending on my mood.

    The Hesperides

At first whiff, this smelled horrible to me. On me, it smelled like a used ashtray and reminded me of the tobacco scent in "Antihero" from Villianess. I wanted to wash it off immediately. Sense prevailed and I gave it a chance. When wet this smells horrible... like tobacco, rotting leaves and general wood decay. I don't smell any hint of apple whatsoever. After drying the decaying wood stench was completely gone and all that was left was a warm spicy apple. It definitely reminds me of some spiced apples baking in the oven. I don't smell chocolate at all like other reviewers do. 4 1/2 hours later and it's almost completely gone. Deeply inhaling my wrist leaves me with a hint of something sweet but it's not easily distinguishable as apple anymore. I'm not entirely sure if I like it overall. The first 5 minutes it's on leaves me wanting to put my hand into scalding water to get it off. So... yeah... that's a deterrant. But the warm spicy apple is a fall favorite of mine. Decisions... decisions. I'll probably hold on to this imp but I doubt it'll ever be on my list of must-haves.
