in the imp: just cherry wet on skin: VERY CHERRY + a little cool anise/minty feeling at the back of my throat when i smell it. dry on skin: cherry has calmed down. anise is much more noticeable. not getting red musk, at least not yet. ETA: a little later, i am getting the red musk. it smells just like the infernal lover at this stage, but with a little anise. i thought i had the "non-red musk" version of IL, because it didn't smell how i expected red musk to smell. finally i know what it is supposed to smell like it's creamy, and a little salty, kind of like cake batter? with some cherry...weird. late drydown: just red musk!

in the imp: smells like a sweet juice mix with indian food sitting next to it. very odd wet on skin: less indian food, more juiciness. initial drydown: mmm...very sour/bitter. like slicing open a fresh lime. bright and fizzy. late drydown: it's over an hour later but this still smells like fresh happy citrus! i really like it.

in the imp: sinus-clearing evergreenery. whoa juniper wet on skin: mmm...turns juicy! initial drydown: smells like a creamy smoothie. i don't smell any of the ingredients individually, it just comes together nicely. late drydown: same, but lighter. pretty faint, actually.

in imp: all citrus! bright wet on skin: still citrus, but can tell there's other stuff in there. it's deeper. initial drydown: something in here reminds me of food. like, dinner. like, savory. weird. i've heard oud can have some strange odor profiles, so that must be it. it's also kinda juicy. definitely woody, but not obnoxious. muted woods. late drydown: the citrus has totally burned off. i'm left with hot, buttered wood. salty and creamy. all i'm getting right now is the wood and labdanum. smells creamy like sandalwood, but not as sour. i like!

perhaps try Clockwork Couture: Male? It's not as spicy, but smoother and subtler to my nose. Overall awesome for either sex, IMO and is it just me, or is the steamworks line dropping like flies?

Smells absolutely TOXIC in the bottle, but turns into a warm coconut on my skin. I wish this was richer. It smells "thin" to my nose. Some more creaminess would have been great.

This is much lighter than I expected! I mostly get the tea, ginger, and linen. Smells citrusy to my nose. I do smell some spice, but it smells more like nutmeg than pepper. If I smell really hard, I can kinda get the honey. Don't smell much milk, but there is a creamy vibe to this scent. The vanilla must be in there somewhere, though it is light. Considering how polarizing this scent is, I find it weird that I'm just kinda meh about it. I thought it would be controversial-smelling in some way I wish I got more milk! Perhaps with some aging.

bottle: Definitely dry cocoa! I think I smell a little saltiness in there, too. I don't know what amber smells like... on skin: A little less rich than in the bottle. That's fine because it smells less foody now and more wearable. I keep getting wafts of this throughout the day. God, it's so good! waaaay later: The late drydown smells musky to me. I wish I knew what amber actually smells like. That's embarrassing! Keeper!

WHAAAAAT is this even real? i don't think it is... it smells so good!!!!!! yet it's so simple... finally an aquatic other than szepasszony that i can deal with! in fact, i LOVE it. refreshing and milky. just what you'd expect!

I'm a rabid red velvet fan and this sounded perfect for me. However, I found it to be thin-smelling. It wasn't rich to my nose at all, but like watered-down red velvet instead. I didn't smell any Snake Oil or Dorian either and I wish I had. I don't know what Doc Constantine smells like. I guess I might have smelled something woodsy in there. Cake Smash smells a lot like Miskatonic University to my nose, but far weaker. Definitely did not live up to the hype for me! So glad I only bought a decant.

love's philosophy is the creamiest ever, but good luck finding it snake oil (with at least a few months' worth of aging), dorian, white rose (from the BPTP's unity set), detestable putrescence, and black opal all smell like a "creamy" vanilla to me. maybe morocco too? but it's creamy vanilla + soft florals. boo doesn't have vanilla in it, but it has that creamy type of feel. we really need more GC creamy things...

ohhh man that's good sandalwood! it's got almost a creamy, sour quality to it. the patchouli smells like fabulous dirt. i can't really pick out the frankincense, it must just be in the background holding everything together. this is so simple but it's a masterpiece. ETA: Bizarrely, this scent makes me hungry.

smelling this makes me feel like i'm gonna die i don't even...i can't even... this is so... ewwwww it smells like something you shouldn't be inhaling. am i a wuss? this seriously smells toxic. i guess pennyroyal is not my friend.

try seeking out scents with very few listed notes. a few of my favorites are: Urd Imp Goblin Haunted Black Pearl Unsteady Governess (Halloweenie LE, still available til later this month) if i think of any more, i'll add them

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! omigod... dude... i want to be constantly basted in this stuff!! before i ever smelled this, i pictured it smelling like those vanilla-flavored tootsie rolls. the ones that come in the blue wrapper. it totally DOES. it smells like that, and fresh laundry. and maybe some whipped cream. with extra sugar. true, it does also kind of smell like buttered popcorn jelly beans and plastic, but i LOVE that about it! mmmmmm...

This is awesome. I don't care for many "clean"-type scents, as I prefer to smell like a dirty hippie who rolled in sugar, but this really is AWESOME. It smells juicy to me. Juicy and refreshing! I would so love to drink a violet-flavored white tea, if it tasted as good as this smells My only gripe? It's not really a gripe, because it's already awesome, but I wish this had creaminess in it. It would probably be my holy grail scent! Oh well. I'll continue my experiments with layering for now!

This actually lasts a really long time on me, and has great throw! It's ozone-y apples. I only get mint from this blend when I sniff it out of the bottle. There might also be white musk here, but I'm not sure. It's very perfume-y, but in a good way. It smells...posh. I'm really loving the combo of ozone and apple! Need to hunt down more blends like this...

First off, let me say that I won this and a few other BPAL things in Katie Puckrik's giveaway and I'm very thankful that I won. I never win anything and it was an amazing prize. Many thanks to Katie and Beth! That having been said, I shall proceed with my review. This smells horrifying. I have never recoiled from a scent the way I did from this one. It smells nightmarish. I'm proud of myself for even putting a half-drop on my skin. I'm struggling with how to describe this! To me, it smells like ashes, burning rubber, burning hair, rust, blood, dirty leather, and rancid nuts. I love metallic notes and I love leather, but this is just so horrific. It's like a crime scene or something. I'm guessing that the vetiver is causing most of the nastiness. Ooh, a fishy note is coming out now. Nice! Smelling this is making me upset. It makes me uneasy just having it in my house I cannot wait to get rid o--I mean, I can't wait to re-home it with someone who will give it the love it deserves! Someone who appreciates vetiver, I suppose. I have met my BPAL match. I thought I was into "dark" scents, but I guess I'm just a wimp!
