This smells like a dupe of Antique Lace to me. It lasts ages too. No cookies or anise. I wouldn't mind if they showed up though. Very grateful that this smells nothing like an old lady to me.

This is the only exclusive that I bought and skin tested. It's quite smooth and musky. I think from the ambrette. It's one of those scents that's all-occasion, all-season, all-people appropriate. Gender neutral. Clean and fresh.

I finally picked this up at NYCC this year. I had been wanting to smell this for years (like since I got into BPAL in 2010) but it was one of those scents that always escaped me. In the bottle, I get some florals and leather. The florals aren't old lady or sickly sweet or anything. They're fresh. Mostly what I'm getting is like a fruity, tart, wet rose. Very true-to-life rose. Probably some vanilla orchid too. Maybe a bit of mild jasmine. On my skin, the florals stay the same but there's no leather or smoke apparent at all. (I have plenty of smoky, leathery oils I can layer this with!) I don't detect any obvious vanilla. Its probably there in the background taming all the florals though. I might also smell a light incense undercurrent. Even though I don't get as much leather or smoke as I would have thought, it's still a fantastic blend. It's lasted over 14 hours on my skin. Not what I was expecting, but still great. Anyone hesitant to try this should stop dilly dallying! As for scent comparisons, it kind of smells like Celeste with some rose added, and not as much creamy vanilla. It's very wearable and easy to like. If you like Euphoria by Calvin Klein or Hanae Mori Butterfly, definitely try this one. It's similar to those but better and longer lasting.

Pyramid Head definitely smells like The Grand Inquisitor's Heretic's Fork: Coppery dried blood, metal, vetiver, and bonfire smoke.

Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)

I think Thouros and Hope smell a lot like Rose Jam. Hope a bit moreso. I bet the two of them layered would be quite close to Rose Jam. I was wondering if there are any BPALs that smell like the green Sugar Scrub? Or Sultana soap? -
it smells very clean. it's almost like a woodier, deeper version of Truth by Calvin Klein. that one also has bamboo. it has really great staying power for such a clean scent. I could smell it days later on my seat belt. I did get compliments on this one.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

for BTBT, try Delight and Consternation or Playful Wooden Mallets. Delight & consternation has chocolate + lemon which is similar to the somewhat lemony black musk and choc combo in BTBT. Mallets has the same musk as BTBT plus super dry, non-potpourri cinnamon. I bet any of those would layer nicely too. Mmmm... -
it vascillates between smelling like incense and sour old lady perfume on me. either way, there's not even the tiniest hint of coffee. really disappointing. though I don't mind when it smells like incense. I feel like I got the wrong perfume by mistake.

this is a marriage between depraved and banshee beat. with a little vetiver. I knew I would love this.

This isn't the most accessible option, but you might try Cottonmouth if you can get your hands on it. Even though you don't like Snake Oil. I barely get any Snake Oil at all out of mine, just pure linden. It smells very much like The Unicorn to me. I got mine from a BPAL Etsy sale. I'm not sure if it's ever gonna pop up there again, though. Maybe try Kyoto? If you don't mind a touch of anise. It's got that clean/innocent/dewy/floaty floral quality in common with The Unicorn. Good luck!

this is a proper coffee scent. like, coffee grounds. like, black coffee. unfortunately as much as i love to drink/smell/be around coffee, i dont want to smell *like* it. -
This smells like juicy mango jam and salty popcorn/pound cake. This is a good thing for me

When I smelled this at NYCC 2012, I got soapy Beer Nuts! I was hoping this would be a salty, custardy pumpkin smell. Alack and alas.
-
This smells so much like Womb Furie on me. I wish it would be dirtier! I do know it will get better with age. Hopefully the dirty patchouliness will come out soon.

This reminds me very much of Pumpkin Princess. More specifically, the drydown of PP. It is very creamy. It's also quite simple so it would lend itself well to layering. It has a smoothness that is easy to love. I actually don't get a lot of spice, and I am very very sensitive to that. It's a buttery smooth vanilla with a teensy suggestion of pumpkin.

I'm surprised that the jasmine is what prevents me from loving this blend. It kind of smells like a dirty diaper on me! It vacillates between dirty diaper and woodsy, clean cologne smell. I wish the cherry had more of a presence. I can see this blend layering well with Kabuki or something to amp the cherry. I'm not giving up on this one!

Using BPAL to negate the smell of death?
ModderRhu replied to Ordo_ad_Chao's topic in Recommendations
i would choose something very minty. like a lick it, maybe. ultraviolet was a good suggestion. perhaps something super clovey would be effective too. you want something to really attack your nose instead of the death stench may i ask what you're training for? -
This is all popcorn all the time! Very salty buttery popcorn. Actually if I smell this further away I occasionally get wafts of watermelon. Maybe that's the pink noses. I wish the popcorn would let the other notes come out more. I prefer Elephantine Colossus for a popcorn scent because it's more balanced.

This smells exactly like Unsteady Governess on me. I love that blend but I don't need another bottle of it! The color of this oil is the loveliest magenta.

This is how I thought Vampire Bride should smell. In the bottle I get mostly wine, vetiver, and clove. On me somehow it turns into creamy blueberry with vetiver. I guess the cherry is coming off as blueberry to me. I really like this and I wouldn't mind if the vetiver and clove come out more when it ages, because it is super super sweet on my skin.

I use all the bath oils as in-shower moisturizers. This one starts out as a deep dark caramel when I first apply it in the shower. Then after I rinse it off, it morphs into this amazing lemon scent. It's dewy and musky and sugary lemon. Almost like Dorian but with no tea. Very nice surprise! Biggest scent morph I have ever encountered.

I want a BPAL that smells like Bath & Body Works...
ModderRhu replied to sihaya09's topic in Recommendations
ugggghhhh. i love that so much! there's precious little lychee in bpal. Thouros is a nice juicy rose/lychee. i think to achieve anything close to WCB you'll have to figure out some kind of layering scheme. to me, i mostly smell the tuberose and lychee in WCB. if anyone has a better answer please speak up -
Harimise is a great one for people averse to vetiver. It has loads of sweet stuff in it to mask it. In all other blends vetiver smells like meat, burning hair, fish, or rancid peanut butter to me. Wonder if the Haitian variety is different. ETA: it's listed as "khus" in Harimise, I believe. Yup it is! Rice powder, osmanthus, rose geranium, magnolia, khus, and chestnut.

after i wash off the cupcake face mask my face smells extremely close to mb: underpants. i actually thought i had spilled some near me or left my bottle open or something, that's how close it is. -
No, no scents except the ones my Beloved Husband makes causes me to be sick :-P well...i've never been pregnant, but rose seemed to me like the kind of smell that would make a pregnant person feel queasy. it is a very lovely rose, though! the earth and oakmoss compliment it beautifully.
