Figs and Fig Scents - alone and in combos

I am interested in finding out which BPAL fragrance has the fragrance of Figs present. I know there is a single note Fig available, but any others? Thanks in advance! ---Andra

    Sugar Plum Fairy

SUGAR PLUM FAIRY Queen of the Kingdom of Sweets: sugar plums, vanilla-infused sugar, tiare, amber musk, apricot peel, and a light dusting of cacao. I knew it would be good, but if I had any idea it was this good I would have ordered more bottles. Sweet, mouthwatering, smells how watermelon Jolly Rancher candies taste. The scent just glitters and dances and gets better, deeper as it settles. The tiare and musk round out the sweetness. The apricot peel enhances the fruit factor, keeping it from being too candy sweet. No cocoa as of yet, which is just fine by me.

    The Candy Butcher (2015)

Bittersweet chocolate with a heavy cream undertone. As soon as this unfolded on my skin, I knew I wanted to review it first. The newly reformulated Candy Butcher is a revelation. I can't wear chocolate scents. I can't wear cream scents. How Beth managed to create a chocolate and heavy cream perfume that smells beautiful on my skin is a mystery for Dan Brown to explore in his next novel. Gourmand fans are going to love this, of course, but there is some magical ingredient here that places it in the "perfume"category rather than being a totally foodie scent. The Candy Butcher is sophisticated, and has a bit of a dryness about it that counteracts whatever usually makes chocolate or cream so unwearable on my skin. Bittersweet cocoa rather than truffles. The cream seems to be acting as grounding instead of gooey topping. I applied only a small drop, she wears close to the skin. Nothing cloying or sickly, rather a warmth and depth that keeps me bringing wrist to nose. The character is translated expertly into perfume.

    Krampus Lace

I have all the Lace scents and the only one that isn't an instant favorite is Solstice Lace because of the apple, but I took a gamble. Just like I took a gamble on Krampus Lace despite honey and red leather being listed. But this time the gamble paid off BIG! This scent hits so many high points, it's creamy, sexy, cozy, sweet, a touch foodie without being cloying, spiced without being spicy. It's really perfect for the season. The honey and leather read as beeswax candles burning, the note is really evocative of a church I visited in Florence, San Miniato al Monte. It's just wonderful, I love it!

    Quick Cyber Monday Question

No freebie should ever be expected. My advice is order to get the special imps and then use them to swap for imps of scents you really want to try. They will make popular swap fodder, I'm sure.

    Iambe

Daughter of Pan and Echo and dear friend to Demeter. When Demeter was mourning the abduction of her daughter, Iambe was the only creature in heaven and earth that was able to lend cheer and laughter to the grieving mother. Her scent is one of comfort, beauty and joy: Sudanese amber, patchouli, rose, gardenia, gladiola and white tea. First Impression: Tea and amber. Second Impression: This has a sharpness about it, it's not smooth and glowing like I thought it would be. It mellows as it dries to a golden slightly resinous floral. I also think I smell jasmine in this. Final Analysis: Nice, very nice, but not a favorite. May swap this one.

    Children of the Cornucopia

Sweet and sexy. Definitely masculine leaning, and I know this because that type of scent tends to go super sweet and cozy on my skin. The hay note is beautiful, it's a hidden gem of mine that is vastly underrepresented. if you like Hay Moon, you'll love this. The tobacco is a note I collect, and it's gorgeous as ever here. The patch is sweet and creamy and vanillic, not earthy or gnarly. If you're looking for the gnarly hippie feet patchouli, you may need to look elsewhere. I amp sweet, and this combination is reading as gorgeous non-foody vanilla hay tobacco. It reminds me a lot of the Lace family, like the lost Lace brother. It will age like a dream, I love it! I want to put this on my husband's neck and just nuzzle.

    Dragonfly & Dragon Hair Gloss

Blue lotus blossom, iris root, iridescent musk, green tea, and a touch of fiery anise. I bought this unsniffed because I just love anise. But don't fear the anise, it's a sweet backbone to all the delicious sexiness happening. I sprayed this on my hair and used it as a body spray. It's a cool floral that's warmed up by the anise. The musk is so sexy, I just love all of Beth's musks that are labeled as iridescent. This scent would fit perfectly if had been released as an Asian themed Luper, it has that vibe. Sexy Dragon flying over Kyoto on Valentine's Day, perhaps. It's well blended, and has a subtle waft. I'll be making people sniff me later to see what they thing. But at the moment, I'm in love.

    Florence

Florence: The pearl of the Italian Renaissance. Elegant iris, bright berries, gilded amber and velvety spices. First Impression: Iris, but not overpowering. Second Impression: Oh, goodness another gorgeous, evocative scent. I bought this scent purely for the name, it's the city in Italy I most want to visit. And this conjures up the images of sitting in a window sketching the a gorgeous view of the city as warm, gentle breeze blows in. Better yet, this is the scent of a tryst with David. Spices, amber and iris all blend wonderfully together. Not getting the berries at this time. Final Analysis: The name called to me and so I bought a bottle unsmelled, I'm thrilled that I did. A keeper.

    Closet Raid

I just greedily tore into my box from the Lab. Closet Raid has arrived! I've been wanting a BPAL version of Chanel No. 5 since I first became a devotee in 2004. But of course, Elizabeth delivered an homage to the classic scent so great that Coco herself might claw her way out of the grave and snatch Beth bald. That undercurrent of Snake Oil and a breath of lilac and lavender takes this scent to a whole new level.

    Lilith's Loli Dragon

Lilith certainly inherited her mom's talent for blending. Her scents aren't as complex, obvi, but they are lovely. And as exuberant and fleeting as childhood itself. This is all fun and candy and a day at the fair with dragons! Dragon's blood can be an iffy note on me, but it's perfect here with the candy sweet strawberry, which is one of my favorite notes. You'd think the strawberry candy would be the top note and fade out quickly, but it's the resin that seems to recede to the background after saying HELLO! The strawberry candy lingers long after the dragon falls asleep, like the stickiness on a child's cheeks and fingers after a day at the fun fair. Love it!

    Stale Sugar-Crusted Marshmallow Chick

Just don’t microwave the perfume, ok? Prototype tested at DSWC 3/25/16 I couldn't smell it in the bottle, literally nothing. A swathed on a healthy amount, still nothing, I tend to have a blind spot for marshmallow and cotton candy scents. It wasn't until an hour later that I started detect the barest hint of something sweet. And then the magic started to happen, over the next few hours this warm, sweet, RICH, marshmallow scent ramped up, and the crystalline sugar crust even appeared. I fell asleep huffing this perfect Easter sweetie. It's 12 hours later and this Chick is still wafting, but the scent has morphed. It smells just like the taste of that crispy candy on a Cadbury mini-egg!!! Dying. We need to start a campaign to get this into a bath oil. I want to smell like this FOREVER.

    Peach VII (2016)

Peach sugar and a drop of lemon. The first Dragon*Con Peach that has me smitten! My skin does bad things to peach notes. Bad, musty things. But this is a revelation. It's sweet and candied, sparkling and lovely. The lemon top note is candied yet tart, fades quickly and leaves this candied, pinky-peach jelly candy fragrance. I can't wait to enjoy more of this beauty! It reminds me of a perfect BPAL version of those Fresh Sugar/ Aquolina type scents. Only better, of course. (Bether!)

    Przeczucie

I can't believe it's a Weenie and not a Yule! It smells so much like my beloved Bloc Na Nolaig (sp) atmos. It's surprisingly wearable on my skin and took on a soft, sweet floral quality as it wore for a few hours. I'm so excited about this!

    Mandrake

Also called Djinn’s Eggs and the Weed of Ill Omen. Distinctive bifurcations shape this magickal plant into the form of human men and women. It is believed that mandrake grows where the semen of a hanged man has fallen onto the earth, and that when it is plucked from the earth, the plant itself shrieks in agony: Alack, alack, is it not like that I, So early waking, what with loathsome smells, And shrieks like mandrakes' torn out of the earth That living mortals, hearing them, run mad. A plant of true arcane power, mandrake has been used in a multitude of ways by witches, magicians and thaumaturgists for eons to many, many vastly different ends. Whole pieces are carried for protection, or are used in poppet magick. Ground herb can be utilized in spells for money, lust or defense. The lore of the mandrake does not limit it to magickal use. The root was chewed as a simple anasthesia, and it has been widely employed as a sleep drug: CLEOPATRA: Ha, ha! Give me to drink mandragora. CHARMIAN: Why, madam? CLEOPATRA: That I might sleep out this great gap of time My Antony is away. The oil itself is quite viscous, more so than any other oil I've tried, except aged Snake Oil. The scent is really hard to describe. Earthy without smelling like dirt. Dusty sweet without being floral with a smooth herbiness that is making my mouth water. It reminds me of fresh thyme and cedar, only not as intense. If I had to compare to another scent, than the Dreamcatcher massage bar by LUSH would be it. It's been on my skin for over 30 minutes now and it's still shiny. This isn't perfumy in the least. It's really soothing and relaxing. Very unique, very addictive. I can't stop sniffing my hand.

    Miss Addie

Rich, sweet, lush night blooming floral tempered by a touch of musk. I get the sweetness of the currant as an impression but this isn't a fruity floral to my nose. The clove is so well blended I can't seem to find it. As invidiana said, it makes me want to read The Witching Hour again.

    Mrs. Dunbar

This is the scent of being down wind of ethereal fairy wings! It's so delicate and perfect. The vanilla musk is predominant through the length of the wear. The freesia and tea are fleeting as lovey top notes. It's a clean, glittering scent. And I love it!

    Mrs. Bunce

Just when I thought I didn't need yet another tobacco scent, Mrs. Bunce strolls into my life. She is a STUNNER! My favorite sort of tobacco~ rich, chewy, almost creamy and sweet. I love the sweet musk and amber in the background. It gets sweeter and more golden the longer it wears, which much be the blonde woods and hay sugar peeking out. This has good throw and good wear. Sexy as hell, I just love it.

    Ghost Houses

Last year, Lilith visited Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 in the Garden District with us. As she walked among the vaults and tombs, she announced to us, When I get older, Im going to help ghosts fix their houses. Marble, wild grasses, rusted iron, white clover, coneflowers, and daisies filtered through a sepulchral mist. I ordered a decant of this when the Lilith scents went live. Having sniffed it last night at DSWC, I had to have a bottle then and there. This scent whispers "final resting place." It's ghostly and eerie, yet grounded by the scent of the marble and iron which gives it a faintly mineral smell. Grassy and softly herbal-floral, just beautiful. It's a unique scent that is very New Orleans, the place (not the BPAL scent.) Very good staying power and throw. We're spending Thanksgiving in New Orleans, this perfume will be in heavy rotation that trip.

    Amicitia

“We’ll be friends forever, won’t we, Pooh?” asked Piglet. “Even longer,” Pooh answered. A tribute to true friendship, and love that transcends distance and time: white sage and chaparral with sweet cedar, caramelized honey, warm fig, and carnation blossoms. I ordered an imp of this purely because of the Pooh quote because fig doesn't smell good on my skin (though I love it) and honey doesn't always work. So I figured together it would be a disaster. Well, wrong again. Came away with a bottle and may need a backup. Whenever I think of the perfect sage and cedar spa scent, this is what comes to mind. It's more warm than green. Centering, comforting. Very present. This is a beautiful scent that goes so well with the Pooh quote, it makes me teary as I sit here and contemplate it. The fig and carmelized honey lend such a golden glow of warmth without adding a foody quality. I can't stop sniffing it. This needs to be a room spray and a candle and a bath oil!!!

    Visions of Autumn VII

Tobacco absolute, myrrh, opoponax, black sandalwood, and black pepper. I love tobacco, LOVE! This is the note I love in Black Lace and Havana. Sweet, a little smoky, a little chewy. Wet, it's ALL tobacco ALL the time. After it dries, there is a hint of the black pepper and a whiff of woods. The longer it dries, the sweet tobacco and woodsy spice gets rounded out and goes all smooth and resinous with the opoponax and myrrh. Autumn VII morphs quite a bit, but stays gorgeous the entire time. Decent throw and staying power, this is one scent I wouldn't mind reapplying throughout the day.

    Vivement Atmosphere Spray

Peppermint candies dropped into a flute of champagne. Another winner! It's a winter party in a little spray bottle. Buttermint candies melting in Champagne, not foody at all, but a little sweet, and above all, it's very pepperminty and very bubbly. Definitely a palate cleanser for after all the smells of Christmas and perfect for that time heading into New Year's Eve.

Yellow Metal With Mingled Purple Blushes

I bought this at Will Call last year when the scent was just released. It was all ripe, juicy dark fruits with sweet hints of amber. I cellared it to see if the amber would deepen over time. It did! This yellow and purple beauty aged perfectly, like a fine wine. The amber is deep, rich, glowing. There is the barest hint of gleaming metal wet, and as it starts to dry but that goes leaving a seductive, slightly sweet, ripe and dark scent. Just wonderful!
