    Black Forest

First Impression: Oh, piney goodness. Nervous that it will smell like pine air freshener. Second Impression: Not to worry, this is fresh, crisp pine and cypress as they smell out in their natural surroundings. As they fade the almost sweet and slightly sexy black musk mellows on my skin. How nice! Final Analysis: This was a generous extra from a swap. I'm glad I got to try it as it's not something I would have ordered for myself. I love that musky note.

    The High Priestess

First Impression: Cherries in the bottle but they are gone the second it touches my skin. Second Impression: Cherries have morphed to almonds, which are gone in another second. A Vicks Vaporub-like scent remains. Final Analysis: Vicks Vaporub and burning rubber. Not working with me at all.

    Ouija

First Impression: A pretty floral with a sharp bite. Second Impression: I can't pick out any individual notes on this. I don't like the sharp and almost sour drydown on my skin. It reminds me of another floral, perhaps Ophelia that didn't agree with me. Final Analysis: Off to the swap with you.

    Spectre

First Impression: I adore anything with lilies in it! Second Impression: This is a lovely, soft floral. The tuberose is light and a touch sharp tempering the sweetness of the lilies. Lily scents normally have a golden feel to me, but this one is pale purple. Final Analysis: I don't love this one as much as some of Beth's other lily blends, but it's lovely enough to enjoy my imp.

    Sandalwood Scents

I just got Hakkotsu in a swap and this is one glorious sandalwoodsy scent.

    Hakkotsu

First Impression: Sharp, dry and woodsy. The bergamot really bites you on first sniff. Second Impression: The bergamot dies down quickly leaving a that lovely sandalwoodsiness that I love. The lily of the valley lends a very quiet sweetness, keeping the wood from being too dry. Final Analysis: Wonderful woodsy sniff. Seems a very autumnal scent.

    Akuma

First Impression: OMG, I thought the same thing: Razzles. Second Impression: I like the sweet and juicy about this scent. I feared it was going to be fruity or citrusy (don't do well with those) but it's not. It's more like candy than fruit. Final Analysis: This was a lovely extra from a swap and I'll very much enjoy using the imp this summer.

    The smell of night

Envy and Cathode are both very chilly scents. Brrrrrr.

    Amber Bottles vs Other Colors

Like so many things, it's what's on the inside that matters.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

This may sound odd, but the one 5ml bottle I have, I apply it by gently turning it over than back. I take off the cap and tap the cap over my skin and all the little droplets of scent come out of the cap onto my skin. It works well and I don't think it contaminates the bottle.
  11. Yes, Old Morocco has stolen my heart but my skin has stolen the scent. Is there anyone that can recommend something similar to that sweet and spicy lover Old Morocco that has more power, more oomph?

    Debauchery

First Impression: Earthy but sexual musk. Second Impression: This reminds me muchly of Loviatar without the leather. It's not at all the Egyptian musk I'm familiar with, was expecting. Final Analysis: Not too sure about civet, but the sweet musky quality is nice. I'm going to have to order a sample of Beth's Egyptian musk single note to compare and contrast with this. I'm going to slather this on Rob when he gets home to see what a man's chemistry does to it.

    Sandalwood Scents

What a lovely gift. Perhaps you'll consider these: Anne Bonny Rakshasa Damnation Cathedral Shroud Black Rose

    Where is this scent?

Hemlock is in Bewitching Brews, I believe. And Ingenue is in Love Potions.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

I keep my touch up imp in a small film canister in my handbag. It's air and water tight so that if the imp leaks I don't lose any of the preciousss!

    search engine stuff

I was just over at the main site trying to do a musk AND amber AND NOT berry search but couldn't figure out how to do it. Is something in the works for this feature? Sorry to be a pain and I didn't know if I was allowed to post here but I just thought I'd ask. Thanks.

    Shadow

First Impression: Oh no, lemon. I hope it works on my skin. Second Impression: The lemon isn't OTT, it just lends a fresh sweetness to the lovely warm woods. It didn't turn lemon-cleaner on me at all as I'd feared. I just love the sandal and cedar. I don't get much patchouli, just a subtle undertone. Final Analysis: All the dabbling really helps you learn what works and what does not. Violets don't work on my unless it's Veil and lemon does not work unless it's Shadow. I'm pleased with this one.

    Nyx

First Impression: Jasmine the way it's meant to be. Smooth and sweet. Not cloying and overpowering. Second Impression: This may be my favorite jasmine blends of all I've sampled to date. The rose is only present to keep the jasmine sweet and the myrrh balances the jasmine lending depth and warmth. Hot summer night for sure. Final Analysis: Beautiful, gorgeous. heaven scent.

    Othello

First Impression: Othello?!? I was expecting Laurence Fishburn, but I got Lawrence of Arabia. Sweet and pretty. Second Impression: Very feminine rose scent with a decidedly feminine musky core. Just exquisite. Final Anaylsis: I can't imagine this on a man, but I'd like to try it out just for experimental purposes to see what a man's chemistry would do to it. Oh it smells so lovely on me. This was an extra from a swap from dear friendthegirl. *happiness*

Egyptian Musk - what's it like? Which blends have it?

Oh, that's for the tip about Debauchery. I must try it. I'm not surprised to see so many fans of Egyptian Goddess. It's the most complimented scent that I've ever worn.

    Tushnamatay

First Impression: Bliss, indeed. I love sandalwood, but it's different this time. Second Impression: This is a very unusual blend...cloves and sandalwood and something underneath that gives the impression of sweetness, though it's not a sweet scent. Final Analysis: Well blended, warm and soothing. Smells lovely and peaceful on my skin.

    Severin

First Impression: "Tea...Earl Gray...HOT." Yes, exactly. Captain Picard in his riding outfit romping around the Enterprise in the episode called "Starship Mine." Second Impression: I love Earl Gray tea, this is a wonderful rendition of that fragrance. Final Analysis: I really like the way this smells and the images it conjures. I'm not too sure about it as a personal fragrance but I'm going to use this in the oil burner.
  24. Ina Garten Davita

    The Unicorn

First Impression: Very sharp, very cold. Second Impression: This smells cold and watery...deep puddles after a long icy rain. Final Analysis: It's taken me 146 scents to truly know what I don't like, and this I don't. Sorry Beth and Dee I'm much better with the sweet and the warm.
  25. Ina Garten Davita

    Tiger Lily

First Impression: O how I love that honey scent so! Second Impression: A field of full blooming lillies, leaning towards the sun, sprinkled with honeydust. Final Analysis: I've got Alice and Honey on the way then I'll have all of Beth's glorious honey perfumes. I love them all and this one is right there at the top of the list. Exquisitely beautiful.
