    Wolf Moon 2004

First Impression: Those traditional lunar oils that I recognize from Red, Harvest, Hunter and Cold. Second Impression: I don't get cold from this or aquatic or pine. It's warm and little spicy and a little musky, a touch warm floral. It's most like Hunter Moon less that feral quality. Wolf Moon is extremely strong, bordering on headache. Final Analysis: I was hoping for the piney-Skadi smell alike that was mentioned many times above. For me, this is not it. I really want to try it again before I make my final decision. I'm also very interested in sampling ivyandpeony's bottle when we get together next week for comparison.

    Chuparosa

Just in time for Valentine's Day! First Impression: Ethereal romance in a bottle. Second Impression: I get that candy sweet flowers scent that I get from Crucible of Courage, Lobban and Follow Me Boy. Perhaps it's a similar base, but the actual floral notes are very different. I'm getting lily of the valley, tea rose and a hint of honeysuckle. Soft and romantic with a touch of magic, like the scent of pixie dust. Final Analysis: I'm wearing this on Sunday, the day we're going to celebrate our Valentine's Day as Monday Rob will be traveling, back to business as usual. I think this will be perfect for what we've got in mind.

    The Apothecary

First Impression: Oh that lovely tea note that I love about Dorian. Second Impression: I can't believe that it took me so long to try this. It's amped up Sudha Segara, it's gorgeous tea, it's faintly figgy and just gorgeous. Final Analysis: I have tried every scent in the Illyria collection. This was the last one. I love it. I want a big bottle of this for slathering!

    Libertine

First Impression: Rosewood and powder. Second Impression: This reminds me of Unseelie. Only golden brown where Unseelie was more golden green. I'm getting the rosewood and herbs and the musk. Final Analysis: Not overly keen of how this smells on me. It starts off woodsy and powdery and then finishes very powdery.
  5. Formula 54 and Perversion are my sexy scents. Hell's Belle is also sexy and smoldering.

What BPAL scents could represent a mermaid?

Sea of Glass. We've got a Snow White and now Sleeping Beauty, perhaps someday Beth will give us The Little Mermaid.

I want a BPAL that smells like Bath & Body Works...

I have the tiniest drop left in my imp of LadyLatemar's Chaos Theory. I open and sniff it time and again and I wish and hope that it's recreated and released someday.

Bridal BPAL - BPAL for weddings?

If I were getting married again, or say having a Disney Dream Wedding Vow Renewal, I'd choose between Havisham, Dorian and Crucible of Courage. They are each lovely and wonderful in their own way and I think they smell very "bridal".

    Cordelia

First Impression: Woodsy but in a feminine way. Second Impression: The warm woodsiness backs off and this scent turns into a very bright, sunny, clean-linen scent. It remains floral and fresh for a goodly while before the woods peek out again. Final Analysis: The freshness changes into richness on the longer drydown. This really is a lovely scent. Decent staying power too. Very nice.

    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

My dear husband, who is clueless on some things calls it b-paul or "the perfume thingy" . I say b-pal or black phoenix but mostly I refer to it as "The Preciousss".

    Eris

First Impression: Watermelon Jolly Rancher candies. Second Impression: Watermelon and mimosa, really fresh and fruity on the top. But underneath there is something thick and dark and sharp. Final Analysis: The bottom notes are not playing nicely with my skin. Something is there that has turned a bit civet smelling on my skin. How unfortunate.

    Lear

First Impression: Warm woods. Second Impression: What a gorgeous scent. It's both warm/woodsy and green/fresh. I can't believe how harmoniously these notes blend. They just sing. Final Analysis: This is definitely a rugged, masculine but also sensitive fragrance.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

Wow, how awful it must be to go through life with such horrid allergies. I can't even imagine. To the original poster...how do you go about finding the ingredients in items one uses everyday? Just about everything has fragrance in them. That must be such a daunting task to have deal with on a daily basis. I would fear using perfume at all if I had such allergies. Just not worth it.

    Oberon

First Impression: Bergamot. Second Impression: This scent is very strong bergamot and juniper berry on me. I'm not getting much musk or any orchid. It's also gone very powdery. Final Analysis: I wanted this as I only have a couple of more scents to try in the Illyria category. I'm glad I got to try it, but it's not for me.
  16. Dorian is my favorite tea scent.

    Job Interview Recommendations

I think that Horn of Plenty, even just a tiny dab on one's forehead should be required for anything job related, be it an interview, a performance review or asking for a raise.

    Help with Jasmine scents, please!

New Orleans is a "perfect" jasmine scent. Also Mata Hari, though it's blended with coffee (yes, coffee), it's the truest jasmine ever. Rapture is a nice rendition of jas as well.

Clove discussion! including bitter clove and clove cigarettes

The Hippy Christmas body cream from Scentual Pleasure is very clovey. I wear it with Formula 54 to amp up the clove factor and it's wonderful.

    Cherry Blossom

Nice cherry-floral. I like this as a single note, where I didn't care for it in Kyoto. It's just lovely on it's own.

    Sweet Pea

This is the perfect green pink scent. I immediately recognized this note as being in Endymion. Just lovely, fresh and spring like.

The Lowdown on Incense & Resin - The Best Recommendations

The Coiled Serpent is very dry, resinous, dark, woodsy and incensey.

    Dragon's Blood

First Impression: Pure, juicy-sweet dragon's blood. Second Impression: This is potent and sweet, much sweeter on it's own then in any of the other blends it appears in. I just love dragon's blood resin but on it's own it may be a bit too heady for me. Final Analysis: This is the purest form of this scent that I've ever encountered. I'm going to mix this imp into some body cream to layer with all my other dragon's blood blends.
  24. Ina Garten Davita

    The Coiled Serpent

First Impression: Very dry, patchouli and woods. Second Impression: This is a very dry scent, far too dry for my tastes. I like patchouli when it is grounding sweeter scents, but here it's quite strong. The woods are very dry and sharp. Final Analysis: Indeed a patchouli lovers dream.

    Tenochtitlan

First Impression: Wow! This smells like Pele with a fruity kick. Second Impression: Must. Have. Bottle. This is the stronger, brighter version of Pele that I've longed for. I don't quite know what they have in common, but they are similar to my nose. The main difference is the bright poppy, the depth of sage and the fruit-juicy prickly pear smell. This is a sensual, decadent and gorgeous scent. Final Analysis: Love this. Really good staying power and throw.
