    Destroying Angel

Dirt and mushrooms. It smells better in the vial than on my skin. Strangely enough, I love dirt scents and couldn't resist the urge so slather this on my forearm to test. The "papery white" notes are making this too perfumey. I'll stick to my sweet Graveyard Dirt when I need my dirt fix.

    Queen

This was so strong and scary in the imp that I just swiped a bit on my finger. It smells like Dr. Pepper, black pepper, and lavender. When lavender is mixed with certain things it smells a little menthol, which is what I keep getting whiffs of.

    Dian's Bud

Cucumber-melon water with a sprig of mint. This would make a refreshing summer drink. Faintly aquatic, but it doesn't get powdery like most of them.

    La Belle Dame Sans Merci

Sharp rose and fresh greens that dries down to a watery white floral with no sweetness. Very perfumey and familiar.

    Highwayman

Same. I smelled leather and rose but vetiver, you always ruin things.

    Calico Jack

Musk, leather, seaweed and wood. This leaked from the imp so I had no choice but to test it. It's masculine but not something I could wear because there is no sweetness. This is Jolly Roger's hairy, dirty uncle.

Durian Fruit Infused Honey with Brandy

A sweet, light cherry candy scent...or like someone posted up-thread, lychee. I resisted buying a bottle when I could, because I was afraid of the bad reviews. I'm not getting a sour note from this at all. This may be perfect for layering with my pure vanilla Chaos Theory.

    Jerusalem Cherry Infused Honey

No honey. It really smells like tomato plants, or even a fresh cut red bell pepper.

    Yew Berry Infused Honey

Honey with juniper. It's sweet and herbal with a breath of cinnamon as it dries, then I think of pine trees in the mountains covered with snow.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

I thought of Pink Sugar when I smelled Rosy Maple. Pink Sugar notes are: Bergamot, Sicilian Orange, Raspberry, Fig Leaves, Lily of the Valley, Licorice, Strawberry, Red Fruit, Cotton Candy, Vanilla, Caramel, Musk, Wood, Powder. Rosy Maple: Lemon blossom, vanilla bean, huckleberry, sweet pea, rose sugar, acai berry, and candyfloss. They both have a raspberry-citrus, cotton-candy sweetness, but RM lacks any caramel or woods.

    Chrysanthemum Moon

I wasn't sure what chrysanthemums would smell like in a perfume or if I'd even like them. The red musk and ginger notes made me want it anyway. I was scared at first, since the liquid in the bottle smelled like heavy florals. I applied it and after a few seconds, the floral calmed down and red musk, ginger, and opium smoke took center stage. It has a decent throw, but it doesn't stop me from wanting to keep sniffing my arm up close. It's a dead sexy, spicy, incense-y floral. One of my top 10.

    Sibyl

This is really beautiful. Initially it smelled like nothing, then it bloomed into a luscious tea with honey, and mandarin that is almost lemony. That's how it smells when I sniff my skin. While I sat around, I got wafts of egyptian musk and warm vanilla. Thank god I didn't smell any tea rose. There is a very faint floral element but I don't recognize it as rose. Now that it has dried down, my skin smells like skin musk, warm vanilla and lemon sugar. I'm so lucky I got a bottle of this (thanks to my wonderful angel, devilot)

    Anne Beany

I'm surprised I like this, because one of my CT Vanillas is heavy on the butterscotch and is very unwearable. This really smells like sinfully rich cheesecake drizzled with warm butterscotch rum sauce. It starts off chokingly sweet wet and on skin, but begins to dry down to a wearable and delicious scent. Several minutes later, my skin smells like I dusted it with my Urban Decay Sparkling Lickable Body Powder (it's caramel flavored). Mmmmmmmmmm. Unexpected winner.

    Jingo-Kogo v6

Another case of letting the tester dry up and barely having oil to sniff on skin...everything is very faint, but I smell sandalwood, musky orange, and creamy vanilla. Its not the same cream in Underpants because I'm not getting that funk that cream notes tend to smell like on my skin. ETA now that I have a tester to review properly: Orange creamsicle with a base of sandalwood. I can't describe how perfect this scent is in it's simplicity. I don't think my review was much different than it was the first time.

    XCDL13

My tester dried out but I was able to swipe the last drop of oil out of it...man This is such a fantastic vanilla-berry scent. I smell a little boozy rum too. ETA now that I have a half-decant to test properly (April '11): This is very boozy and syrupy, like a vanilla cordial or that Madagascar Bourbon vanilla paste that is thick with vanilla bean flecks. There is something candy-like in here that I can't identify, although it smells just like this gogi-berry truffle filling in my favorite chocolate bars. This stuff is holy grail. ETA again now that I have a bottle (January '12) Now that I can slather this with abandon, I get what Absinthetics wrote above that it's a bit of a synthetic vanilla. The "berry" note I noticed before is blueberry, and while it doesn't smell plastic, it reminds me of a blueberry scented doll I had as a kid. After a few minutes, the berry fades and I get the musky Madagascar vanilla bean soaked in booze smell I know and love.

    Velvet Panther

Rrrawrr! I wanted a bottle of this since I tried this in a decant a few months ago. I usually stay away from vetiver, because it's so offensive to my nose, but Velvet Panther has so much more going on with the woods, black musk, mandarin, and deep, sexy vanilla. I'm sad that I can't smell the star anise. This is very cologney for a few minutes but it mellows into a lovely sweet musky vanilla.

    Lilith's Tea Party

The label is SO adorable. In the bottle, I get rose water and cake. On my skin, it's Cake Smash diluted with tea and rose water. I smell strawberries for a fleeting second, then they're gone. Dry, it's a rosy strawberry cake. I wish I smelled more coconut. I usually amp coconut so I'm surprised I don't smell that yet.

    Dorian

I don't know why I've waited so long to try Dorian. I think the "fougere" scared me off. This is the most beautiful sugared lemon vanilla but the tea keeps it from being too sweet. I don't smell any fougere...perhaps my decant is aged? Either way, I want a bottle of this.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Here are Ginger Skulls and Licorice Bats

    Licorice Bats

Wet, this smells like Arak (one of the worst drinking experiences I ever had). On my skin, it's like a bowl of black jellybeans. A few minutes later, I smelled cocoa which surprised me because I didn't remember that was one of the notes. It's delicious but didn't last long.

    Ginger Skulls

Ginger Skulls is not very sweet on me, but it's similar to Sugar Skull. I slathered it on my arm and smelled the beautiful quince, and a dry ginger. I didn't get much pear, which is ok with me. The spices are just right...anything more and this would be craft-store. I think this will be perfect to layer with my Invasion of the Flesh Eating Reindeer from Uranus. Mmmm I love ginger.

    Eat Me

I love anything with currants so I knew this would be a winner for me. It's not too foody but it definitely smells like vanilla angel food cake drizzled with a spicy currant sauce. I could slather this, it's that yummy.

    The Creeping Mist

I bought this because the notes sounded interesting and I wanted to venture out from the smutty, snake oily, sweet candy scents I usually like. I've had this bottle for awhile but I haven't reviewed because I was 'meh' about it. Now that I have it on, it smells very familiar and I'm pretty sure it smells like a St. Ives lotion I had years ago. It's a fresh, clean scent but a little watery. Not for me.
  24. Old Demons of the First Class (Marchen) smells a LOT like Smut after the initial pepperiness wears off.
