If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!
skyelyric replied to Ella LaRose's topic in Recommendations
For Propertius, maybe Tanuki no Orai, Fae, or Aglaea? I love Coyote, but I really can't think of anything similar to it that I've tried. And just for grins, my top 5 at the moment: Sin The Butterfly Aglaea Miaiphonos The East -
Hesiod's Phoenix is amazing, if you can find it. Barring that, if you do the hair gloss thing at all, Implacable Beautiful Tyrant is very similar. I haven't tried them, but Hope and Fear Set Free and La Lugubre Gondola seem like they might also be wins. 2012's Punkie Night was a gorgeous spicy tart apple scent.
-
I never smelled The Unicorn, but for a light, sweet, true floral, I love The East. It's like standing in a meadow in early summer. Elf is another sweet clean floral-esque scent to me.
-
Croquet is a very pink scent to me--a very bright pink. High-pitched, slightly fruity, very sweet.
-
This is stunningly beautiful, and on me it's also a dead ringer for Implacable Tyrant hair gloss. It's a very sweet scent, it reminds me a bit of The Lion but without the spices, just that pure comforting sweetness. On me there's minimal throw but incredible staying power. I wear my oils in the crooks of my elbows, and all day I will get light wafts of scent when I straighten or move my arms. Backup bottle, here I come.
-
This was a lovely scent in the decant, very much warm, sweet grasses. To me this is reminiscent of Traipsing Through Crop Circles from the Black Helicopters update. Unfortunately there seems to be something in here that's either white musk or behaves exactly like it on my skin, and the supersweet chemical funk overpowers everything else.

I was another of those who came way late to the party to try the original, but this was one of the past Yules that I very seriously wanted to get hold of. Oh. My. Dog. THIS is the scent I have been trying to find since my first introduction to the Yules. In the bottle I get an almost effervescent fruity mint scent, distinctly cold but uplifting. When first applied the mint turns into more of a cold, menthol-y sensation than a distinct minty smell, the pine beomes evident, and the berries pick up a citrusy vibe and kind of twine through everything. As it dries, Skadi stays very well blended on me, nothing seems to overpower or disappear. Chilly, sweet, and absolutely gorgeous. Sadly it doesn't seem to last more than 2 or 3 hours on me. One word of caution though--if you have issues with mint, be very careful about applying this. I have contact sensitivities to mints, and although it's not breaking me out or anything, I can still feel where I applied in the crease of my elbow (half an hour ago). When I tested a little on my forearm though nothing happened. Skadi totally lives up to my hopes. This is what I hoped Woods in Winter would smell like in the 2010 Yules, and much as I love Woods for its own unique scent, it's sweeter and sharper with berries, a little soapier, and not as cold in comparison. very late eta: although the orignal applied scent only last a few hours, the Ghost of Skadi lasts a *really long time* on me, like 12+ hours later I get faint delicate wafts of this gorgeous delicate scent that is reminiscent of clean laundry but 100 times better.
-
Embalming Fluid and Delirium (lemon, rose, and apple) are my favorites to wear.
-
Havana and Pele. They just smell humid and tropical. I like Intrigue a lot too.
-
Oh, I'd forgotten Green Tree Viper--that is a nice one.
-
Stentor from the current LEs might be worth a try? I'm no help on skin-reviews since sadly mint and I don't work out so well together, but it's a very bright, herby mint in the decant I got.
-
The scent of this to me is straight up aged O, so it's gorgeous, thick, rick, syrupy, musky honey. Unfortunately, much as I love it, I can't wear it since my mother hates the honey note and it makes my boyfriend sneeze. So I guess this would be a desert island scent.
-
Oh, man, if Puddin' magically remembered what this stuff was and put it up for sale I would buy vats. This is such glorious sweet spicy weirdness. This is like candied Christmas at the bazaar--I get a lot of candy cinnamon like redhots or atomic fireballs, a good amount of sweetness, but not a sugary type, if that makes sense, and the underlying note to me is pine sap (I was thinking that would account for the barking part, just in a different way). I actually spritzed 1 spray on my pillow last night, which lasted forever in the air, was still on my pillow strongly a few hours later when I went to sleep, and then lightly scented my hair to boot! And thank the goblins that my idiot self didn't break out from the cinnamon applied to my face...doofus. Long story short, spicy sweet gorgeousness, and the lovely Miss Daisybliss was ever so kind to let us partake of the madness.

I know Canadian chips can be different than others, how does "dill pickle" or "ketchup" sound? If you were getting a custom Haus of Gloi blend, what four notes would you choose? Summer notes listed here and you can click through to the whole list from there. http://www.hausofglo...er-single-notes QUESTION! Do you like Kickstarter? Are there any projects up that you really like? QUESTION! If you have an Etsy wishlist, what are your top 5 favorite things on there? The price is unimportant, not because I'm rich, but because I'd like some inspiration. Festival this week -- includes an "encampment" and an art faire. any interest in trinkety things from the encampment or cards/prints from local artists How do you feel about glitter? does loose glitter make your skin crawl or would you bathe in it? Do you want/need/like/collect journals? If so, do you prefer lined or unlined? Does the idea of wearing a plant as jewelery give you the warm fuzzies or the heebie jeebies? Gourmet popcorn, yes/no? What do you like: glazed, savory, candied? Nuts or not? Any flavors you wouldn't like (like Bacon CHeeseburger, Pizza, Watermelon, Root Beer Float, Hot Chili Dark Chocolate)? Or if any of those sounded interesting, how weird is weird enough? Question: I make my own hair gloss, would you like some detangling and very shiny hair gloss made by me? This is a 'cone rich blend, not the least bit natural. Thursday June 27/13 I live near the Brown and Haley outlet - makers of Almond Roca and Mountain Bars - would you want anything from the outlet? For nut-haters, they have nutless Roca For the no-sugar folks they have sugar-free as well. No thanks. I also have an Oberto jerky outlet local to me - any wants there? My beloved is a jerky fiend. I like it as well, but not nearly as much as he does. How do you feel about home-canned goods? I'm ok with this! Pickles and preserves especially. Do you like BPTP clothing? What size do you wear of: Yes, and babydoll: XL, or I can get away with L. I don't care for tissue t's, or really standard t's. yoga pants would be probably L or XL. Also, what is your favorite lunacy (or non-lunacy) T-shirt that you don't already own? Or other clothes from BPTP? I'm not fond of the Demon of Vanity or funeral procession, or the cupcake designs, but any of the others would be cool. The skelly librarian (no longer avail per Puddin' when I did try to get it), and Lupercalia are probably my faves on the website currently. I already own the Carnaval Diabolique, Resurrection, and A Little Lunacy t's. What else do you love from the Trading Post site, and need to have? Asterias bath oil sounded promising. I definitely would love a second bottle of Implacable Beautiful Tyrant gloss if it's still available. Is there a particular movie genre that you like (Fantasy? Drama? Romantic Comedy? Musicals? TV-Series, etc), and what format would you prefer: DVD, Blu-Ray, or something in the cloud (like Amazon, iTunes, Flixster, etc)? DVD for sure on format. Fantasy and sci-fi tend to be my default genres. I like some musicals, and I would love to start accumulating more classic movies. -Following up on the Adagio question from earlier, what are you top five wishes, for teas and blends? If anyone sees Zhena's Gypsy Tea Sense of Peace or can dupe it, that would top my wishlist (white tea with rose and mint ) I have a wishlist for adagio with some ideas on it. And my absolute favorite tea is Numi Organic Tea's Chinese Breakfast. Always happy to get that. Also, Bewley's tea, because sometimes I just want blacker-that-the-pit-of-doom strong tea. -Do you have anything that you do ritually, every summer? garden, chase midsummer bonfires in WoW, watch the meteor shower in august. -What are your top five wishes from ThinkGeek? mostly ladies' T's: photosynthesis, the van gogh or nyan tardis, stand back i'm going to try science, social interaction...so many fun shirts. I have a thing for smartass t-shirts, I truly do. Other things that entertain me are the grow your own coffee kit (or if you have growable beans to just send me, I would find this awesome and hilarious), the heat changing tardis mug, the retro duo nes/snes console (because eventually my venerable nes console will die, and this will be a sad day) -Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? This video. Because, well, damn. You have to watch to the very end, too. Also, this one. For different reasons. Stunt riding is kind of dear to my heart because my brother used ride when we were in high school, and I was a photographer, so I turned into a skatepark rat. (I never rode, tried rollerblading and broke my tailbone, so I stuck to taking pictures of it all and going to comps to watch the people that were actually good that this stuff) Do you like audiobooks? If so, do you have/would you like to try Audible? (I'm an addict, myself.) I like audiobooks. I downloaded a freebie on audible once but haven't actually used it. Chocolate: Love? Hate? Allergic? If love, what are your faves? Chocolate is a good thing. Dark chocolate and white chocolate are preferred. I'm good with added in stuff, think I would pass on the bacon chocolate and such though. Wednesday June 26/13 Do you have any long trips coming up? If so, could you use things to occupy yourself? Going out of town for 3 days next weekend, but mostly I entertain myself with yarn, music, studying, and a book if I have one. I'm going to Jungle Jim's next week (it's basically a massive international food gasm in Ohio, look it up); would anything interest you?Did you say food?? Spices, interesting candies (I have an unholy addiction to haribo fruit salad), European chocolate like Ritter, boiled mints and fruit candies (Fox's I think?), cooking stuff. Has anyone ever seen vienna fruit sticks? Because I would love the hell out of some of them. Name three things that you could use, but might not necessarily think to get for yourself? Does anything from the TP Etsy update interest you? wishlisted I just found out Oreo is launching ones with watermelon flavor in the USA only. Is it something you would enjoy? i'm just not seeing watermelon and chocolate. when they had the strawberry icecream flavor, that seemed interesting If you don't consider yourself in a "fandom" (and I get that ... I don't really go overboard on my liking of any TV show/Movie/etc), are there any TV shows or Movies that you really like and/or watch regularly or any actors/actresses you wouldn't leave standing in the rain (unless you like looking at them sopping wet, in which case ... well, nevermind)? I'd actually love to get previous seasons of Warehouse 13 since I only just started watching in order this season. So, dear witchee, would you like some Tw*twaffle soap or scent or lotion? soap. I love the idea but it would probably be too strong for anything but soap. Has anyone asked about tattoos? Do you love them? Hate them? Have any? Want any? Have, no. Want, yes. Just one though. Tuesday June 25/13 What are the three BPALs you would most like to receive - one GC, one not-hard to find LE, and one HTF LE from your dreams? If you knit/crochet, what sizes of needles do you need? I don't think I *need* any, I do like the woodturned hooks though if anyone has access to such. What styles of artwork do you like? I am all over the board here. Photography especially landscape and macro work, asian-style brush painting, stuff like Brian Froud's work, impressionist...seriously, I'm pretty open. If you cook, would you be interested in-hand made spice mixes/rubs? Absolutely, just nothing too fennel/caraway/rosemary heavy. Would you like mexican vanilla or silver rings/necklaces? yes to any of the above The Conjure Oils update (http://conjureoils.com/emporium.htm) looks absolutely fabulous...I didn't know she made soaps and candles and whanot. Is there anything from the Oddment Emporium you would like? What is your favorite color? it varies. honestly, anything in blues, greens, earths, or jewel tones will be a winner. i like color. What is your favorite season? probably autumn, but honestly i love things about all of them, I like the changes If you could live anywhere in the world and money was no object, where would it be? Either Ireland or the Pacific northwest, on about 10-20 acres, in an off-the-grid earthship type house. Monday June 24/13 Do you have any symbols or totems that are meaningful to you? When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? Play really loud music and dance, sit in my garden with a cup of tea. I desperately want to say snuggle with my puppydog, but she passed in February and thinking about curling up around her right now just makes me ache. Would you like if your witch sent a regional pop/soda? If so, what type (Root beer, creme soda, cola, citrus-flavored, chocolate-flavored, etc...)? I'm not sure about chocolate soda, but anything else sounds interesting...fruit, creamsoda, root beer, ginger...I don't drink much soda, but I enjoy the non-standard flavors the most. Ninjas or Pirates? Werewolves or vampires? Zombie or Cthulhu? pfft. Honestly I don't have much preference. I don't care for the zombie craze though. Except for Shaun of the Dead. Love (and own) that movie. Cthulu is cool at least. Do you want to receive one big package or a bunch of small ones? Digital stuff all at the end when the box should arrive or as we go? Entirely my witch's preference Do you welcome knitted items? If so, what would you like most? (amigurumi, washcloth, socks, shawl, shawlette, scarf, wrist warmers, hat, etc.) Do you have any favorite fibers? How about any fiber allergies? Favorite color for knitted items? Bring it! I love other people's crafts. I don't actually own any knitted socks or slippers, or any critters, but I'd welcome whatever. Knitted wearables I'd prefer not pastels but otherwise anything goes. I keep being told I look good in blues and purples. No fiber allergies. I love soft, pettable things, my favorite thing of my own is a shawl made of baby alpaca, but I'm totally not a fiber snob, a nice soft acrylic yarn is as welcome as a fancy fiber yarn here. Sunday June 23/13 Is there a Quote that resonates with you, or that you particularly like a lot. Would this be something you would like artwork made of for your walls or a shirt/bag/scarf? I could list tons. Two lately from AWOLNATION lyrics: Dance, baby, dance like the world is ending. Never let your fear decide your fate. (this is particularly powerful for me) Other quotes I love: 'Living is not enough...one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.' -Hans Christian Andersen 'the miracle is not to walk on the water or fly in the sky, but to walk on the earth.' -chinese proverb 'The universe starts out with a tap to the shoulder. If you ignore it, then it moves on to the boot to the head.' -Alesia 'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.' Oscar Wilde 'Anyway, if you stopped tellin' people it's all sorted out after they're dead, they might try sorting it all out while they're alive.' -Adam Young (Good Omens, Pratchett/Gaiman) 'if you can't be a good example, be a dire warning' Also, STARBUCKS, Yay or Nay? Anything you particularly like? Not particularly? I used to get hazelnut hot chocolate or the caramel apple cider once in a while. Is there someone on the forums (within SW or not) who knows you really well and might be able to help with stalking? arlith! also witchbaby43 and girasol know me passably well. If you happen to find out who yours is, how much would it bother you? who my witch is? Wouldn't bother me at all. I've had witches that were sneaky to the end, ones that i've guessed, and ones that didn't even bother with secrecy, and they've all been lovely. Do you use waxmelts or tarts? If so, which ones do you prefer? I'm fine with whatever, prefer fruits, pine, citrusy, or clean smells. Do you enjoy drinking hot chocolate, and would you like stuff to make it with, or to add to it? sure. I do enjoy hot chocolate in the winter. Have you ever tried Spoonfudge? Would you enjoy it if your Witch would send you some? Which of the flavors would you like? never tried it, but as someone who will eat nutella out of the jar, i'd be down with trying some. flavor-wise, nothing with mint or peanut butter, otherwise i'm open to surprises. What's your opinion on Moonalisa? Any favorites or products you'd like to try? I have no experience, therefore no opinion. Are there any BPALs that you loved the idea of, the imagery - whether artwork or description - but which didn't work out for you? (I'm asking because if they did, you might mention them elsewhere, but if not, the imagery might be helpful) Sorry I missed yesterday, here are the questions: Saturday June 22/13 Put your mp3 player/online music/itunes/etc on random and list the next 10 songs here: what is your favourite object, that you own, ignoring sentimental reasons for attachment? So I guess something you find beautiful, or fun, or incredibly useful. How big is too big...for something to hang on your walls? If I'm painting you a pretty picture, are there maximum dimensions that you have/prefer? I don't have a ton of wallspace, so probably nothing that would frame out to bigger than 16x20. And I have no problem finding frames, so unless you really want to frame something, please spare yourself the shipping hassle. Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Is there anything from Australia you would like? eg: snacks (yes, you can ask for Tim Tams!), books, magazines, memorabilia? Do you have any problems with swearing or particularly off-color humor? Bring it on. As long as it's not racist or promoting violence, I'm good. What style is your sense of humour? I love wordplay and clever humor, sarcasm, the dry British wit, good clean silliness. Some favorite comedians are Victor Borge, George Carlin, Bill Cosby, old skits like Abbot and Costello. Not a fan of stupid college humor like Road Trip, Eurotrip, all that nonsense. Opinions on table top games, from cards and board games, to dice and rpgs. What do you like? What don't you like? Favorites? Any classics you like? Do you collect any? I love things like Boggle, Scattergories, Pictionary, jigsaw puzzles, Triominoes. I like thinking games, and cooperative type things. Stuff like monopoly I do not enjoy at all. I'm curious about cards against humanity. I used to watch DnD games, played a little bit of Vampire, but I don't actively game (sadly). Most of my rpg'ing is computer based. What would you like from the most recent BPAL update? What are you planning on buying for yourself and what would you like to try? Is there a literary character you identify with? Even if it's not spot-on, just someone you found yourself having that "I identify with this" feeling? What are the three books you most want to read right now, and which you don't already have? Would you like something from Empire Edibles? (http://www.etsy.com/...s?ref=top_trail) Is there anything small you try to collect from everywhere you visit? Generally postcards, or a little piece of jewelry. Lots of photographs. Witchee, I know that SW isn't about what you get... but could you name one thing you would be heartbroken not to get and one thing you would be a-ok if it didn't make it in your box? (i.e. do you REALLY want perfume oil of some sort, or would you be totally heartbroken if there was no Lush in your box, etc Something personal to my witch, whether a favorite something (book, music, etc.) or just a letter or something. Do you like tarot cards, pendulums and rune stones etc? If so, what type? As a rank amateur to all of the above, anything! What fandoms do you belong to? What cheers you up? critters, my garden, random hugs from my boyfriend Who or where would you most want to haunt? Who would you least want to be haunted by? What question do you hate to answer? What is the best compliment you have/could receive? Would you like anything from an European country? Any particular food or goodies, magazines, books, whatever would be available to your witch in his/her country. Do you like bags? If so, what type (rucksack, clutch, shopping bag) colour and would you like/need a new one? What's your favourite comfort food(snack or candy etc) and/or drink? Would you be interested in someone writing out for you a favourite recipe, or finding or devising one which they think you'd like? If so, please provide your favourite ingredients, info on how you like to cook/store and use food, and any intolerances - unless all of these are in your questionnaire, or you don't like the idea. (I'm not saying I'd definitely do this, unless someone is keen, and it wouldn't be the only gift). I guess for other witches this might include something like a knitting pattern - not my thing but would you like that? Or indeed would you like a picture created for you (if so what kind) or a story written? (sorry if this feels a bit Spanish Inquisition!) If you knew you were going to live comfortably for say 800 years, what profession, calling or project might you pursue with some of your extra years, which you imagine you may not do in the life that you have? Is there any thing - an object, a donation on your behalf, some research done for you, whatever - that your witch could do about this that you would like? And if you can't think of a present, would you rather she/he (I!) didn't either and confined themselves to things you are already involved in? What colors/style is your kitchen decor? And do you entertain in your home? Are your ears pierced? Do you like stuffies/stuffed animals/art doll type thingies? If so, any particular type you'd love to get? Switch Witch is, of course, all about you.....but if your Witch was so inclined, are there wee little ones in your home that will get jealous and are just too young to understand why you won't share the love, who maybe need a touch of Witchee love all their own, to distract them while you hide all your lovelies?!? Thursday June 20/13 Do you read literature/culture blogs or websites of any kind? I'm thinking about anything that would help a putative witch to get a sense of what your current tastes in books, movies, games, genres, approaches to culture and literature and so forth are How do you feel about traditional picnics (namely the intimate table for two variety)? Old-fashioned basket or something more utilitarian (cooler/insulated bag)? If you were put in a room with 100 random other people the same age and sex as you, from your country, in what way do you think you would be different from the average? Haus of Gloi did a Reverie update! Do any of them interest you? (Or anything else up currently?) Witchee, do you cook? Do you do all the cooking? Is it a chore or a pleasure? Which reading level do you prefer to read in YA or Adult? Or even both? Wednesday June 19/13 If you could have one rare bpal which one would you choose? Darkling Thrush sounded gorgeous but I was way too late to join the addiction to get to try that. (Feel free not to answer, I know it's not a standard one!) Are you kinky? Not particularly? I had a boyfriend that was and there are some not-so-great memories there since I don't think he really went about it in a good way. Do you enjoy scented candles? Certain sizes that you like? What kind of scents or brands? I do like scented candles, mostly citrus/fruit/herb/woods scents (not all in the same blend), some foodie scents are cool, too. I got some wax melts from Two Timing Tart in a recent swap that I really enjoy (Silk Sheets and Experiment #2). Most of my other candles have been Yankee, Woodwick, Colonial, stuff that I can find locally. Thoughts about South Africa? Have you been here, would you like to go? Would you like to receive anything South African? Have not been, but I love seeing things from different places, even postcards and such are awesome. I have a little ceramic teabag holder from a dear former witch that I think is tremendously cool from there. Do you like Sockdreams? If so, what styles would you prefer? (You can also link your wishlist.) I am kind of the anti-sock--they only get worn in winter when I have to. I do like fun quirky socks then though. Shorter ones though--anklets, boot socks, etc. I do not do knee or higher socks, and please, dear gods, no toe socks. Do you need hair accessories? If so, what kind or color? kerchiefs are fun, hair clips are good, silk flower type things for dance costuming, fun barettes...I'm trying to grow my hair out but it's sadly not long enough for chopsticks or anything like that yet. What is your favorite shade of blue? No pastel? Seriously, I love most shades, dark, saturated, jewel tones, slate or teal, whatever. I just don't really care for washed-out colors. Do you have any kitchen gadgets (a SodaStream, a Kuerig/Tassimo) that you want mix things for? newp If you were to start learning something new (intellectual or craft or hobby), what would it be? a new language, maybe learn how to knit productively, carpentry, welding, less-haphazard gardening... What about candy? Do you have a sweet tooth? Yup. And what sweet tooth I don't have, the beloved makes up for. Do you have an e-reader? What kind? Would you like to get ebooks? Negative. I have an e-reaer program on my computer, but I mostly do normal books. If your witch is an extremely crafty sort, and she were to send all kinds of homemade foody goodies and handmade crafty stuff - what are items you would NOT LOVE to receive. Please dont hedge on this one...some of us are serious crafters and will be making most of what we send! If I think of anything on this one, I will get back to you. Practical items are better than a boatload of purely decorative, but otherwise I can't think of anything. Witchee dear, do you like video games? Are there any you want to play? Do you have a large library? I love video games, mostly I play World of Warcraft or old Nintendo (orig and super) and PS/PS2 games. I used to love the Final Fantasy games, too, but I think I have all the ones I'd want to play. If anyone has a copy of Dragon Warrior 7 for the playstation though that they don't want, I would love that--I lost mine when I moved and never got to finish it. Sad Panda. Do you have something you do, without fail, as a personal daily habit/ritual? (Examples: pen-and-paper journal keeping, tea/coffee drinking, morning yoga, nightly bedtime reading. I'm kind of thinking on things that would be dear to you and might need small supplies or could use certain extras. ) Do you wear nailpolish? What colors do you tend to go for? What are your favorite brands? Are you open to trying indie brands? I do wear it, and have a ton of cheap stuff. I much prefer frosts/metallics to creme or matte polishes, glitters are sometimes things, not big on pinks, or yellows. Name three BPAL scents you have tried, but are dying to get more of. Secret Lovers and Sleeping Husband comes to mind, otherwise have to think about that. Do you still write real letters on nice stationary to people you like/love? I does! Have you ever tried anything from Paintbox Soapworks? Which products or scents would you prefer? Would love to try her hot process soaps, and some of the other moisurizers (only tried slip so far), shaving soap, and scent balm; some favorite (the first 3)and wanted-to-try scents include Olive Tree, Sweet 100s, Yuletide Mariner (out of season obviously), Kid A, Halcyon, Bramble and Apple, Mandinka, The Englishman, The Natural, Go Green, The Crofter's Bar. Do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you grow? Herbs, some strawberries, flowers, tomatoes, rosebushes, catnip. I have limited space but I do love my plants. Do you like sample sized things? Think lipgloss, mascara, bodylotion, scrubs, mini candles, and so forth. Samples are good! Samples with info on where to get more are better. Have you tried Fortune Cookie Soap? What products or scents would you like? Their website is actually impossible to look at on my computer, so I can offer no opinions. Do you use solid soaps at all? If so, what kind do or don't you like? Exclusively. I don't do bodywashes at all. I like Chagrin Valley a lot, and I'd be interested to try the soaps from Long Winter Farm and some of Paintbox's hot-process soaps. I like the glycerin ones ok but they can be more drying. Have you ever tried Cocoa Pink? If you are curious about it, what looks interesting to you? scentwise, none of the foodie stuff, I have crap luck with sugar notes especially. The fruit scents (Asian Pear Sparkler, Blackberry Tea, Cool Citrus, Enchanted, Georgia Sunrise, Love Punch, Orient Garden, Tiger, Zest) tea scents (Green Tea Spritzer, Honeysuckle White Tea, Sakura Sweetheart Tea), and some miscellany like Sping Fever, Black. Also, eep, they have a Light Blue dupe. I am very curious about this. Product-wise: scrubs, body butter, the greasy version of the body oil spray (hello colorado negative humidity) are the things that would be most useful. Lush Don't think I've really tried anything, wouldn't be against it, but don't know much about their products either. Shiro Cosmetics? Other eyeshadow pigment, indie makeups? I love Shiro's eyeshadow pigments, but I think I'm placing an order soon since I need something for dance makeup. I'm happy to play with any and all shadow pigments, my collection thus far is from The All Natural Face (the source of foundation, bronzer, and the like for my collection, also) and Shiro, though I have very little Shiro at this point. Day 1 Doctor Who? I am a fan. Not a totally rabid one, but certainly a fan. How much do you like lipbalm? Love it, usually have about 4 in rotation at a time. Flavors are nice, mostly citrus and fruit flavors, I'm not a big fan of mint favor in lip balm, since it takes forever to get rid of. Do you like and wear lipgloss? Sometimes, what I'd love to find though is a good lip stain, since gloss tends to disappear so quickly. For those of you whose wishlists contain only BPALs, are there any other perfume companies you like or would like to try out? I had a sample of Possets Sex Juice that I loved, wouldn't mind snagging more or trying some of her others. I like some Villainess (I love the scent of the Byzantium Soap, and I think Asphyxiate I liked), think I had a sample of Arcana soap that I liked but I don't remember which, maybe The Huntress? In any case, I'm open to pretty much anything. Your feelings on Adagio teas: Yes please. I'm heather longino over there, and putting together a wishlist/favorites. What about coffee? I drink that, too. We drink plain in the mornings, but afternoon coffee gets a little more creative. I do have a grinder, also. Who is your favourite female of all time? Historical, literary, ANYTHING, and why? I honestly have no idea how to answer this. Too many good answers. If you were a Disney princess you would be? Some kind of combination of Belle's nerdery and Merida's outdoorsyness, I s'pose. Seashell from Florida? sure! Ok MY Question to y'all! What craft project do you currently have on your docket or that you want to start? And what craft goodies would be welcome? Interesting shellac-free writing inks for my dip pens (I have a gorgeous almost black green that I love to write with, I'll happily take most any crafting supplies, but I don't think there are any that I actively need right now.

another couple of fun fruity scents that don't get much love: TWEEDLEDEE: Ridiculous! Kumquat, white pepper, white tea and orange blossom. TWEEDLEDUM: Absurd! Green mango, fig, patchouli and green tea. I can't do -dee because of the orange blossom, but Tweedledum is one of my favorite unusual fruit scents. Some other good fruity/hard candy type scents to me (I can't do foodie or sugar blends at all) are Aglaea (sweet candied peach), and Aizen-Myoo ("Yuzu, kaki, and mikan with cherry blossom and black tea"). And if you end up liking Shanghai and are looking for other light citrusy tea scents, Embalming Fluid and Kumiho are both lovely.

This is lovely. It's definitely got an old-fashioned perfume vibe going, I want to say the 4711 that my grandmother had, but it's been so long I'm not positive. On first application there's a bergamot/citrusy/soft powder scent predominantly, but as citrus does, that fades and it morphs into a soft, old-world perfume scent with the occasional hints of bergamot. The closest Lab comparison I can make is The Butterfly, but My Mom with the Sun has less of a brown fuzzy feel and more of a soft sophistication to it. I don't get a whole lot of throw, it's more of a skin scent for me. Oh, and my boyfriend told me I smelled like an incense shop, kind of like soapy incense but not as strong. I'm guessing he's sensitive to and not fond of sandalwood?

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

For the original Old Spice scent, I've seen it mentioned that Villain (A classic Victorian men's cologne: a lavender fougere, with hints of lilac, lime, and citrus musk.) is similar. I don't have Plunder to try it, but I think layering Spider from the Gaimans (White ginger, artemesia, vetiver, nutmeg, King mandarin, bergamot, and lime.) with a little Plunder ( tea leaf, cassia, cinnamon bark, clove, allspice, sandalwood, tobacco, peppercorn, and nutmeg) might work, or maybe Port-Au-Prince (buttered rum flavored with almond, bay, clove and sassafras.) or Santo Domingo (tobacco leaf, bay rum and heady Caribbean blossoms) Herbert West or Whitechapel ( White musk, lime, lilac and citron) might work in place of Spider for the citrusy component, too. I don't know what imps you have to experiment with. =) -
Sniffing the bottle I get freshly cut wet grass, a little sweet, very green and herbal. When first applied I lose the grass, but get wildflower meadow, very reminiscent of The East from Stardust, but sweeter and with a lot more throw. On drydown it morphs again and I still get hints of wildflowers wafting a bit around me, but if I sniff my wrist it's a sweet, dry hay smell, likely from the clover, reminiscent of Traipsing Through Crop Circles from a couple years ago. The morph on this is so freaking cool! I basically get a late spring day from dawn to dusk in perfume form.

First applied, this is straight up ZOMGWTF green apple, with a bitter undertone to me. Maybe it's the musk, but I amp the hell out of this for the first hour or so it's on my skin, but then it fades down into a softer, sweeter apple and the bitterness disappears, replaced by a hint of something more candlescent-fruity. Having loved apple-scented shampoo as a kid, this is a really fun scent memory.

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?

Oh, I forgot Intrigue...it reminds me of the cool inside of a hut on a deserted island surround by coconut trees. Which sounds really odd, but it's such a neat, sultry summer fragrance. -

favorite summer-specific smells for me are Embalming Fluid Kumiho Tweedledum The East (for when I want to smell like I've rolled in a field of wildflowers) Habu Marcilla and occasionally things like Okayaki or Kumari Kandam for that cold floral vibe -
while it's not quite straight Nag Champa, I get the most glorious aura-of-import-store-incense from Secret Lovers and Sleeping Husband. It takes a little bit for the rose to burn off, but after that, it's just lovely.
