The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil
Altaira replied to RaeiNarcissus's topic in Discontinued Scents
Fruit, but with something dry and almost smoky - probably the almond. The smokey-ness wears off after a few minutes and then this smells just like a cherry lollipop. Then after about a half hour, it smells more like sweet-tarts candy (dry dusty sweet). I won't wear it again, but I might like it on someone else. -
The rose hits strong out of the bottle. As it dries, the wine comes in to balance it out, with dragon's blood adding a smoky feeling to the background. It is interesting, and I like it.... but I have a lot of wine and/or rose scents. This one doesn't stand out so far.

I find this to be a very masculine scent (probably from the lavender fougere). There is an herbal top note and a warm sweetness underneath, but it is too cologne-like for me.
-
I liked this more than I thought I would. The vetiver isn't too strong and is a good balance to the honeysuckle. Not sure it's very "me" though. I'm going to have to test again later.

My temple started throbbing as soon as I put this on. Luckily, it stopped after a couple minutes, but I haven't done a long-wear test to see if it come back or turns into a larger allergic reaction. Overall, I like this. It is very clean and light with a hint of melon. It doesn't match my personality well, so I don't think I'd get much wear out of it. It also fades very quickly.

Light, dry woods that go powdery on me very quickly.
-
This reminds me a bit of Shubb, they have the same sweet lime scent. The tea makes it round and creamy. As it dries the frankincense comes out and I start to get a headache.
-
Interesting, this is masculine without being at all cologne-like. There is a dry dustyness that reminds me of cedar. I'm afraid this is causing a nasal allergy.

Right out of the bottle, the rose is strong. But not a fresh, juicy rose; a drying (but not at all dusty), concentrated rose. The frankincense rounds it out well, adding a level of mystery. Rose Cross makes me want to wear velvet and go exploring outdoors, or maybe in an antique book store. After about an hour it settles down into a generic "rose" scent. Rose is one of the few florals I like, but I tend to amp it so all rose blends end up smelling very similar. I may need to death match in the very near future. I can't pick out any of the notes in this. On my skin it is just an unassuming soapy scent.

There is something very bitter and off-putting here, along with an 'old lady' smell. This is bringing on a massive headache and I wouldn't dare try and sleep with it on.
-
Clean smelling; dry gasses and herbs (lavender, maybe sage?) cut with lemon. I haven't tried sleeping with it yet.
-
Smells exactly like the incense isle of the health food store, all the different blends in a jumble fighting for attention. Headache trigger.

This has a huge throw on me. The tobacco and bay rum are a strong masculine cologne and the flowers are a strong feminine perfume. This is both too masculine and too feminine at the same time. And way too strong for me.
-
Matches the description well, and I can smell all the listed notes with leather being the strongest. They come together in a cologne-y scent that is far too masculine for me.
-
Spring floral, fresh and masculine. Kind of an 'Irish Spring soap' scent.
-
Overwhelmingly artificial strawberry. Like those hard candies with the wrapper printed to look like a strawberry.
-
Very, very close to Jack with no peach and a stronger butter note. Too foody for me.
-
Amber and bulgar rose are strongest to me. This has an overall impression of "old" - and not in a good way. Somewhat musty.
-
I can barely smell this at all. What I do get is a bit of spices and honey, but also something sharp and unpleasant. Not sure what it could be, because I've tried things with all the listed notes before and never noticed the sharp note. Must be a combo effect.
-
I've only tested this briefly, I will try and remember to come back and add more when I've had a chance to wear it for a whole day. This is light and grassy, with the lemon coming out after a couple of minutes. I don't get ginger at all. I can see this being a good spring or summer scent.
-
This was fairly light on me. The woods are prominent at first, but then the perfume takes over. And it is a very strong, very floral perfume. I never get any rum at all.
-
Intriguing, I definitely get the almond milk. Almond scents generally go rancid on me, but the almond milk stays true. It is sweet, but not too cloying. At first I get marzipan, then suntan oil, before it fades to a pleasant sweetness. It doesn't last very long at all.

Tintagel reminds me of a sweater. Not that it smells like wool, but that it wraps you in soft, comforting warm and makes you want to curl up inside of it. The woods are strongest on me; not fresh forests, but well used and lived in furnishings and smoke. The spicyness from the mulled wine and dragon's blood is there, but stays mellow. Leather scents often turn bitter on me, but I don't get that at all here; the leather comes out as the light smokyness and nothing more. When I tested this as an imp, it was light with very little throw, when I bought a bottle, the scent was much stronger and the wine a bit more prominent. (Layered with No. 93 Engine, this smells like spiced Christmas cookies!)

Meh. I got this as a frimp; and while I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would, I didn't like it either. It is a light, indistinct floral with something lemony in the background. As I generally dislike florals, the best I can say is that it didn't trigger my allergies.
