    Meus Amor Aeternus

Wet: greenness; grass with a hint of candy. Dry: Lots of carnation with a hint of candy, on a bed of Dorian and Snake Oil. Very like Lilith Victoria but a bit lighter and with that strong carnation note. I think this one will be beautiful in the Spring.

    Sweet Potato Musk

Based on the notes, Sweet Potato Musk should have been a HG scent for me. Or at least a serious win. There are richly spiced oats in this, but the musk amps like crazy and, for some reason, smells exactly like something my dad wore when I was little. While that's a sweet and comforting memory, I was hoping for a fall perfume and am not sure I can walk around smelling like my dad

    The Star

Puddin sent an imp of this along with my recent Goblin Grab Barrel. I had trouble getting the imp open, as some of the plastic from the cap had deteriorated The Star is predominantly lemon, coconut and sugar. I agree that there is also the scent of lemongrass and lime in here. The citrus scent is complex enough to make this lovely and intriguing. The lemon is a bit bitter, but this is very pretty and I'm so glad I got to try it. This smells like a great cocktail I would have loved when living in Miami. ETA: Deep into the dry down, this is much more a light lemon sugar cookie scent than it is a cocktail. I can see this being lovely in summer!

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

I pulled out my two bottles-- one I bought from the post and a back up I purchased recently off the board. They are both an amber color, but the backup is more clear, while my original bottle is more opaque. When I first sniffed them side by side I thought I could smell a slight difference.. but once I got them on my skin I dont think I can distinguish them. I think it smells a little funky in the bottle, to be honest, but blooms on the skin.. so maybe I'm amping a certain note that's cancelling out whatever might be different between them? Yes, the darker bottle was also funky to me but evened out on my skin so that they both smelled exactly the same. Ahh, Celeste

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

So, Celeste batch differences. I've had two bottles that are clear/see-through and three that are opaque and a deep amber color on the skin. I'm about to skin test these side by side, but from a bottle sniff, the clear version is more beautiful. They're very similar, but there's something a little strange about the darker one; maybe saffron? It's almost a little woodsy to me.

    Samhain in the Pumpkin Patch

I could never wear Samhain, no matter how beautiful it smelled in the bottle/decant. It was just too much for me. This though... this, I could wear. On the rare day when autumn's chill finally touches us, and the trees have given all their leaves that are lying crisp and brown on the ground, and I can see my breath hang in the air... when I want a scent that's deep and dry and lovely, then I will put on Samhain in the Pumpkin Patch. It is the tempered sister of Samhain: less all-consuming and less dark. It is emerging from Samhain's dark woods to suntouched trees and a warm house full of pumpkin pie and inviting, golden light. Magnificent.

    Theme in Yellow

BEAUTIFUL. Fleshy pumpkin, raw and pulpy and only slightly sweet, warmed with the soft (not overpowering, as it sometimes has been for me) scent of beeswax. I agree that there is something else going on here, but I can't put my finger on what. It almost smells like a sweet milk, but that could just be the way the notes are playing with my skin. It's oh so simple, and utterly beautiful for it. Like OctoberGwen said, it's October magic. I will need backups.

    Ooky

Ooky is a huge morpher! Wet this is pure almond buttercream. Then it morphed into those cinnamon brooms you can buy at craft & grocery stores. Dry this is amazing. It's all soft, sweet, very creamy spices. I agree with Invidiana that this has a boozy undertone. The booze, cream plus soft spices smells very much like Egg Nog. I'm actually looking forward to trying them side by side. This will definitely be lovely in winter, as well.

    Noctiphobia

This smells so much like Incantation on my skin. It's deep, dark and velvety. It probably has oak, because it's reminiscent of Antikythera Mechanism/Haloes, but much deeper. There's a crystalline, night-air kind of feel to this, but it borders on too clean and almost soapy on me. If you liked the three scents I mentioned, I think you'll love this. It's so sophisticated. Color wise, it's definitely a deep, midnight blue.

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

Agreed. I actually came here to recommend Liz, because she's such a lovely, smoky leather vanilla.

    Boo

What on earth? Am I crazy? Did I get an odd bottle? This is Boo... but... Boo - linen + lemon. It is VERY lemony. And sugary. And that's it. I have the '09 version and the '10 version, never tried '11 but this is TOTALLY different. ETA: I gave this time to dry side by side with Boo 2010, and did not sniff them for an hour. Once dry, this is definitely Boo! The lemon settles into the cotton-vanilla and sugar. It's finally recognizable! I think I may end up liking this better once dry, because though it has that touch of lemon, it never gets that odd sourness that the first two years tend to have on me.

    Mariposita

This smells like lipstick Very honey-sweetened strawberry candy with a delicious touch of lavender. I'm not one for fruit blends, so I'm a bit worried about how I'll like this one. Especially because of the honey; most honey+fruit perfumes turn rank on me. The lavender though is gorgeous. Not too strong or herbal. It's soft and pretty, and I do wish it were stronger! Unfortunately, although if I really sniff into it, I can pick the notes apart, this mostly just smells like candy/lipgloss with a touch of lavender

    Mischief

This is a strong nutty, pumpkin-y wood scent, though I couldn't pinpoint what kind (I thought it was oak, but I guess maple!) And definitely a fresh hint ofsoap, though not unpleasant at all. There is a faintest hint of beer, and something a bit burnt caramel-ish that sweetens it up. This is very interesting and complex, and I have a harder time picking all the notes apart. This is definitely autumnal, and very evocative of a chilly October/November evening. The SO wanted to make sure I posted that both he and my father adored this scent

    Mouse Circus

I never thought in a million years that a popcorn scent would work on me. Dry, this is a very balanced blend of buttery popcorn and sugary sweetness. Up close, it's a creamy, sugary smell with a tiny bit of cotton candy and vanilla to it, but that smell isn't so prominent when I don't put my wrists to my nose - the popcorn hovers over it all, tempering the sweetness, making it somehow richer, more complex and more interesting. While the scent was close enough to Midway to take over that scent's place in my bottle collection, the creamy, sugary sweetness with a bit of cotton candy and vanilla reminds me most closely of Boo (it's the addition of the popcorn that places this scent closest to Midway). Utterly unique and delicious.

    Passion Butterfly

On wet I thought I would hate this. It hit me in the face like a bright green blast of citrussy grass. Thankfully it tones down rather quickly! It's a sweet mandarin scent, brightened by grapefruit. There's a whisper of something very feminine and pretty, but I'm not familiar enough with mimosa to say if that's it, and has a certain depth to it that has to be the amber and copal - it's creamy, a bit woody, and very, very pretty. It's fruity, creamy, deep and oh so gorgeous! Dry it smells like Werepuppy got smacked by Plastic Pink Flamingo at Lady Una's picnic.

    Tanuki No Hikifune

Oh my goodness, I smell like honeydew melon It never hits a candylike stage the way The Vine did, which is reassuring (though the two smell similar in the bottle). But the honeydew is strong! I was concerned about the honey. Some honeys play nice on me, and others go funky. The Vine went funky upon full wear, and this smells like exactly the same honey on me. However, it's either playing nicer with the green musk/honeydew, or there's less of it in this, because it never quite crosses that rancid, funky line. I LOVE green musk. I've loved it in The Two-Tailed Sogg, Luna Moth and 51, and this is no different. It's gorgeous and fresh, and marries really nicely with the fruit and honey, though I could stand for it to be stronger. Overall, it's a pretty strong melon scent with a good amount of honey and a refreshing dose of green musk. I just need to decide if I want to smell like MELONMELONMELONMELON. I would have rathered green musk with a little honey and a background whiff of melon!

    Scent for Halloween?

I wore Celeste today, because my mom wore Celeste and I thought it would be double the amazingness to double-bask in it It was, and she got a compliment from another guest at dinner. So I'll take that as a compliment to me too!

    Cinnamon girl...

Have you tried Chimera? On me, it's a nice resinous cinnamon bun. Kind of like... a cinnamon bun glazed in Snake Oil. Very yummy!

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

I love that suggestion for Fenris (and also heartily approve of your icon) Do tell how it works out! Fighter was far too heavy on the leather and blood for me, so I wonder if Wanda could smooth it out... Ok, I want to try my hand! Female Hawke: (obviously differs, but) Celeste It's slightly sweet and rather a little bit strange. Isabella: Banned in Boston - Obscene, lewd, lascivious, and decidedly objectionable. A filthy, post-coitus scent: sweaty and sweet, laced with laudanum, splashed with booze, and stained by tobacco. Calico Jack - Sea air, driftwood, waterlogged kelp, and the memory of plundered spices sprayed over worn leathers, rough musk, and the salty wooden floorboards of the Revenge. Anders: Oh my god, the sexy revolutionary smells like El Nuevo Puritano wtf. But it's true. Unmoving, rigid oak, dry leather, tonka, gunpowder tea, and pious olibanum with a core of perverse and furtive vanilla bean, bay leaf, clove bud, and lime. It's a leather and clove-vanilla that's pretty masculine and a teeny bit medicinal, like the afterthought of herbs I imagine Anders smells like. He's my favorite character of all time; I really wish I could have found a differently named scent for him Maybe a dash of Cockaigne for idealism? Fenris: I'd have to also go with Fenris Wolf, but also Dracul because the dash of mint seems particularly Fenris-y. Why? Sebastian: Neutral (hillariously) because it smelled like cat poop on me Ok, fine, Cathedral was an awesome suggestion, but I'll throw out Lawful Evil Aureus (it's lighter) - True, perfect golden light, refined into an incomparably glorious scent See, I can be generous. Merril: High Strung Daisies (see what I did there?!) - Daisy, pink carnation, pink pepper, and sugar. Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat - A sparkly, batty little scent: green tea, melon, mint, lime rind, and champagne grape with lemon balm, mullein, and toadflax. Varric: Highwayman - the poem on the website is particularly Varicky. If only I could find something that did his gorgeous fur chest hair justice. Vetiver with gardenia, blood red rose, night-blooming jasmine, a dash of cinnamon and a faint hint of leather. Carver, Bethany & Aveline I haven't found scents for.

I'm so jealous of anyone who got cocoa out of this Because holy patchouli! It's a really rough patchouli, very woodsy, and I totally get the previous reviewers who said they smelled cedar! If I hadn't seen the notes, I would have definitely thought there was cedar in this. There's the tiniest drop of tobacco in this, but zero cocoa. I rolled my bottle forever even though there's no visible cocoa layer, and I think I can see specks of it in the oil, but I can't smell any of it. Same with the vanilla. It doesn't morph at all, and hours later still smells like rough, cedary patchouli

    Blue Pumpkin Floss v3

A wonderful and generous forumite gave me a sniffie/tester of this Wow, it's different! The cinnamon is more muted than the released version; more barky and earthy and less foody/red-hots. I have a hard time smelling pumpkin, but this is less baked-goods like, not as buttery, but hard for me to describe. I can definitely say that it is more raw and less dominant in the blend, just as the cinnamon. The berry is totally different from the released berry. I want to say that it's more of a fuzzy blueberry, brighter, and just a little bit juicier. Dry it's spiced pumpkin berry. Pumpkin and berry in equal amounts. The released version is very loud, fun, festive and a little silly (very seasonal!) this one is beautiful, muted and more sophisticated. I could wear it any day of the year.

    The Knave of Hearts

I detest rose scents, and while I've tried many different kinds, none have worked for me. I do love foody blends, though some pastries tend to smell like chicken curry on me, and blackcurrant is my favorite fruit in the world. In the imp: Blackcurrant - sunwarmed or perhaps heated in the oven until they're just beginning to release their juices - and a thick, lightly sweetened pastry crust. Not any rose that I can smell. On wet: A beautiful womanly perfume dripping with juicy black berries and a syrupy pastry. Dry: The rose becomes extremely sweet. This is sugary rose and syrupy blackcurrant pastry in equal measures. Not for me, but if the rose mellows with age it might be something I would wear.

    The Two-Tailed Sogg

Pink grapefruit, swamp moss, green musk, orris root, cypress, and honey. In the bottle: Honeyed grapefruit and orris, and what I imagine to be a tinge of crisp green musk. Wet: Lots and lots of grapefruit with honey. It's very bright and a little bit sweet - beautiful, glittering and exciting. The cripsness isn't all grapfruit, but does have a fresh, green quality to it so it must be the musk. The orris is soft and pretty in the background. The honey lends a subtle sweetness that's a bit sultry/sexy without being very perceptible. The barest hint of down-and-dirty to this glittering perfume. Dry: A lot of orris with a bit of honeyed grapefruit. The grapefruit and green musk have become very gentle, and accent the dominant orris. It reminds me of something my grandma smelled like long ago - like flowers and sunshine and kindness.

Valentine's day theme- flowers and candy

The two I've tried (and loved) that were floral with a fruity candy effect: Prunella: Ripe purple plums, wildflowers, and cream. Frumious Bandersnatch: Bandersnatch musk, redolent of spicy carnations, wild plums and chrysanthemum. Both were quite gorgeous, though Prunella was more girly/pretty while Frumious Bandersnatch felt more spicy/womanly.
