    Whip

Whip is one of my favorites because of the feel I get from it - the classic beauty of the rose with the je ne sais quoi of the leather. I get a lot of florist's shop from my fresh bottle, but that's totally OK with me. The leather adds edge, but with my chemistry, it doesn't come across as "ummm.... does she smells like leather?" as much as "hmm... what's that lurking under those fresh roses?" and I quite like it that way.

    O

O is my go-to aphrodisiac scent. It turns me into a completely narcissistic nymphomaniac, in the best way possible. It is a little heavy in the summer in my climate and can get cloying, but I still find myself reaching for it - the honey has a magical, creamy after-amazing-sex feel to it that's contagious! A definite mood-improver.

    Snake Oil

I never understood the fascination with Snake Oil... I went a year without trying it, and then I only tried it because I wanted to see what all the fuss is about.... and boy, do I ever! Luckily I got more vanilla than spice, because I love vanilla and spice is iffy with my chemistry. Let me just say... this is one of the few oils that I would wear everyday if I had the patience to wear anything everyday It has an amazing all-occasion feel on me, which is rare. I don't even get a color vibe from it - it just smells fantastic and utterly wear-able.

Beanman & Beanwoman Prepare to Attack the Vagina

Oh my, this is absolutely lovely. It has a little bit of sharpness from the orange blossom, but otherwise it is a very creamy light floral, with the skin musk keeping it more like a skin scent than perfume. I'm hoping that the sharpness will age out a bit, but even if it doesn't, this is a new favorite. The coconut doesn't go sunscreen-y on me.... it stays in the background, adding a bit of sweetness. Surprising, this has good throw and staying power - 10 hours after I tested, I could still smell a hint of it.

Where is my order? What is Click N Ship? How long does this take?

Is anyone having trouble with CCNow's order status not recognizing the date of order (if it's in 2010)? I know all my information is correct, but it's still telling me to put in the date in MM/DD/YYYY format, which I've been doing.

    Scent for Halloween?

I'm wearing Dirty today - something fresh and clean to ring in the new year

    Swank

Disclaimer: I love booze notes, fruity scents, and pomegranates in general. I amp spices. YMMV. On me, Swank smells *exactly* like it's described: pomegranates and gin. I definitely pick up the juniper berry and spices from the gin, and just a hint of booziness. The pomegranate is juicy without being overly sweet or foody, and there's a sparkliness in the background that smells almost like club soda - sparkle and carbonation with no added sweetness. This is a very sophisticated scent. It is cool, rather than warm. It is sultry and provocative without being as OMGSEXNAO as some of the other sexy blends (not that there's anything wrong with that....). I quite like it, and will be ordering a bottle soon

    Carnal

On me, Carnal is a sexy, juicy orange (peel and all) tempered by something fruity, earthy, and a little spicy - I'm assuming that's the fig. It smells like Christmas in a totally non-candle, non-craft store kind of way. Just sexy-sweet fruit with a naughty edge. I love it - It may be my new favorite GC!

    Mlle. Lilith, Fortune Teller

OMG.... I *LOVE* this!! It starts out as a sweet, incensey coconut and fades to a delicious sweet musky pomegranate with just a hint of incense and woods. It's not overtly foody or incense.... but it is totally delicious! If it's Mme. Moriarty lite, I need to try Mme. Moriarty

    Lilith vs. the Giant Crab

At first, this is citrus and sandalwood over a musky-salty aquatic base. The sandalwood dominates when wet, which I'm not crazy about - I'm hoping it mellows a bit with aging. When it dries, though, it becomes a delicious creamy vanilla-y ambergris with a slight tinge of orange. I love it at this stage! It more than makes up for the sandalwood.

    The Girl

The Girl stays the same on me through my entire wear time as it is in the bottle - a musky vanilla-tinged floral (I think the vanilla comes from the amber?). It's slightly powdery, but I think it's a time-of-the-month issue, rather than a scent issue. It isn't an in-your-face dark scent, but rather it's seductive, cold, and ethereal. It is chilling and unsettling, even though it's a fairly mainstream scent. Absolutely beautiful!

    Dia de los Muertos

Reviewing the 2009 version. This started out as 100% floral on me, but it was a different floral from most, I suppose just because of the different bouquets used - the desert flowers instead of more traditional ones. After about half an hour, though, this became something completely and totally different - every time I smelled it I got a different experience. Sometimes it would be pastry, sometimes it would be tobacco, sometimes it would be incense, sometimes it would be smoke, sometimes it would be falling leaves, sometimes it would be chocolate. I did get a floral background about half of the time. Overall, Dia de los Muertos was a very dynamic scent. A bit more floral than I was hoping for, but I'm very glad I got a bottle.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

I've been converted - I used to dab with the nubby thing inside of the bottle, but now I've started tipping the bottle on the back of my wrist, then dabbing my wrist behind my ear. It gives a much better application.

    Boo

On me, Boo is the most cuddly clean scent ever. It smells exactly like taking a hot bath with something moisturizing - shea butter or oatmeal scrub maybe - then getting in bed with freshly-washed sheets and a really really soft blanket. It stays totally true from bottle to drydown. It's exactly what I had hoped that it would be. I think I'm in love

    The Last Rose of Summer

In the bottle, wet and dry on my skin, The Last Rose of Summer is very generic rosy floral... I don't know if I'm amping the rose (which I've never done before) or if my chemistry is just a little wonky at this point in my cycle. It's not an unpleasant floral, just not as unique or intriquing as I've come to expect from BPAL. I can't pick out any of the notes other than the rose once the oil touches my skin - although the rose is definitely not untouched by other notes (I just can't identify them). I'm hoping that either age or a different time of the month will bring out something else in this blend. Otherwise, I won't be too terribly disappointed, since I spilled 2/3 of my bottle the day it got here - if I wind up not liking it, at least it won't be a big loss!

    Yemaya

In the imp and wet on my skin, Yemaya is juicy melon with a hint of.... something. As it dries, the something becomes more pronounced... aquatic flowers and just a hint of moss. I also get a little bit of musk, but I have musky skin and I don't think anyone else has gotten musk, so YMMV. I don't get any grape. I love that the florals and aquatics keep the melon in check, though, so this is neither too foody nor too sweet. It has good staying power overall, but the melon fades in a few hours. The throw is light. This was a lagniappe, and it'll definitely be a 5ml down the road

    Lawn Gnome

In the bottle, Lawn Gnome is molasses and vanilla cream with just a hint of patchouli - enough to keep it from being completely foody. Wet on my skin it turns into patchouli with a hit of vanilla cream. This scared me for a bit - it wasn't what I expected, but it wasn't unpleasant. The patchouli starts to mellow pretty quickly, though, and the currant comes out. After about 1/2 an hour of wear, this is exactly what I expected it to be - sugared, creamy berries with patchouli and moss to keep them from being too sweet or foody. I don't get any molasses. This stays true to that stage for the rest of the weartime on me. It lasts very well - going on six hours now and still strong. It had the strongest throw I've ever gotten from perfume oil - my mom commented on it from 5 feet away, with only a dab on each wrist. Lawn Gnome is the first bottle I've ordered unsniffed, and I'm so glad I did - I love it!!

Aquatics - scents of the ocean, the sea

I barely pick up any mint at all.... and as I recall, not many of the other reviewers did either. It feels a little cool on my skin at first, but that's all

Aquatics - scents of the ocean, the sea

Shattered! White champagne notes, grapefruit, lotus, slivered mint and crystalline aquatic blooms. It's delicious (not that I've tasted it.... but.... it smells AWESOME). It's in Bewitching Brews.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Does anyone have the label art for Last Rose of Summer yet? I can't wait to see it!

    Jazz Funeral

In the imp, this smells like booze, dirt, and flowers. On my skin, I get mostly booze.... I can pick out the bourbon and the rum separately, with a hint of dirt and magnolia. As it dries down, I get a little more moss and those flowers start to come through. The dirt gets stronger and the booze notes stay true. This gets slightly greener and more floral as it dries, but the dirt and alcohol never totally go away. Truth be told, it smells like drunk shenanigans in a graveyard on a humid night, and I totally love it. It stays close. The first few times I wore it, it faded quickly, but I found that if I put on unscented lotion first and let it soak in, it last much longer. I'm from New Orleans, and this is as close to a signature scent as I've ever found... it smells like South Louisiana (in a good way!). *edited because I couldn't match my verb tenses

    Shattered

Shattered is one of those scents, on me, that stays incredibly true the entire time. From the imp until it disappears, it smells the same. On the surface, it smells like aquatic flowers floating in sweet champagne. There's a touch of grapefruit to it, but it's not obvious - I certainly wouldn't know which citrus it was without the note listing. The only way (besides the note listing) that I know the mint is there is that (like some other reviewers have mentioned) this actually feels cool when you apply it. For me, this is the perfect aquatic - unique, doesn't smell like a beach, and wearable year-round. I absolutely love it. It had average throw and lasts more than 4 hours on my skin.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

I roll and then press the nubby thing in the cap against my skin.... simple and leaves the perfect amount of oil.... I have to recap and reroll quite a few times, but there's very little risk of spillage. I'm clumsy, so if I tried to upend the bottle on my wrist (or, for that matter, anywhere else) I'd end up with a scented room and an empty bottle

    Absinthe

I have a bottle of actual absinthe and I swear, if you waved that and the BPAL bottle under my nose when I was blindfolded, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference . This is the truest scent I've ever come across. Not only is it incredibly true to its inspiration, it stays remarkably true on my skin - it smells the same 4 hours after application as it does wet. This is very herbal - I definitely get the mint, anise, and cardamom, and just a teensy hint of lemon. There's a slight booziness to it on me that keeps it true to life. It has good throw and about 4-6 hours staying power on me. Definitely a keeper.

    Fire of Love

In the imp, I could get ginger and civet from this, but mostly it was men's cologne. Wet on my skin, it smelled exactly like walking past the men's cologne counter in insert generic department store of your choice. As it dried down, the civet came back, along with a little bit of ginger and a huge noseful of black pepper. The throw is all men's cologne, and seems pretty good. The black pepper lingered for a few hours and dominated on me, but I amp spices, so ymmv. When it finally settled out, it was still pretty strong civet, but the spice was gone (about 3-4 hours later) and it's still going 12 hours after application. Not much throw anymore though.
