got a sniffie of this in a swap. a little goes a long way! this is very warm, musky and softly masculine. the tobacco is my favorite note in this, but there's something like a golden musk that tempers the tobacco. i don't get any cedar at all, really. there is something slightly spicy underneath that reminds me of a softer clove, but i don't think its clove. this is a nice scent, but it isn't something i could ever wear. i'm delighted that i could try it though!

this is quite a morpher on me. in the imp, this smells like a sweet-resiny blend. on my skin i think the myrrh and orris take center stage, as (i think?) these can both go powdery sometimes, and this is like a resin-powder blend with a hint of coconut and something else slightly sweet. i can't account for that slight sweetness, maybe it's the hyssop? i can't be sure. i am on the fence with this one-it's nice and i like it, just not sure i'd wear it much either though.

nice, warm cinnamony-vanilla scent. i don't get any pine and the clove must be really subtle. this is a pretty fall-like scent, i could see it being really nice in cool weather, however it's a bit too foody/fall like for my personal tastes, so i'll be swapping it.

i tried a bit of this on, and it smells herbal and powdery-a lot like a health food store. when i inhale the scent i feel a bit more calmed and balanced. going to try it on my heart chakra as others have mentioned, and on a candle at a later date in time.

hmm at first this smells slightly like a snuffed out cigarette...not too inviting. however, that fades quickly and then there is a soft musky tobacco scent which is quite nice. now that it has been on my skin awhile i'm getting vetiver, leather and tobacco. or a vetivery-leather...not sure. it's leathery, but with an added oomph, which is making me think of vetiver. this is nice, and i'd like to smell it on my boyfriend, because i'm not sure how much i'd wear it.

i've been having a stressful time lately, so i can't wait to try this in a more purposeful way. today i just tested it on my arm to see if it had any relaxing qualities, and i definitely think it does! at first i get a strong white floral note with spices in the background...i think it's lilac with cinnamon and some musk and other spices. strangely comforting, indeed. i can't wait to try this like the description suggests! eta: today i tried this on my chakras and palms of my hand like the tal website says to do. i am having a very stressful time right now and i think it has helped me feel a bit better today. i feel a bit more able to handle the stress, at least for the moment.

Cream accord, amber, teak, and lotus blossom. in the imp, it smells like musky elmer's glue to me. on my skin however, it's a different story. it's all cream and teak and something in this is reminiscent of sasparilla, but not as bubbly. this actually evokes the name quite well. it's soft, warm, and mysterious. i think the amber makes a nice backdrop, but i am not getting much lotus at all from what i can tell. i quite like this and am pleasantly surprised.

this smells a lot stronger in the imp than on my skin, which mostly seems to eat it right up. in the imp it's clear and herbal, but on my skin it smells like a very soft nectarine with soft, soft aquatics. very beautiful, but very faint-it doesn't have much throw, unfortunately.

wow, this is super floral and green. reminds me of bright yellow-green flowers. this scent is very young, girlish and springlike. very, very green-it smells like fresh cut flowers! i think i'm getting an aquatic-lettuce plus hints of floral. it's pretty but too green/innocent for my tastes

ooooh this is a beautiful scent! it's a warm vanilla-musk with subtle hints of mandarin and woods. voluptuous and beautiful! i am definitely getting a bottle of this

i had high hopes for this, but a teeny voice in the back of my mind said "it might not work." unfortunately, this is the case. it smells like an amped-up pele (i love pele) but with a weird sour, cloying, "old lady" (sorry if you don't like that term, but this is it) scent to it. damn my skin chemistry to hell.

The Antikythera Mechanism

wow, this smells amazing! it's fairly basic- warm and vanilla-y with a nice tobacco background. i could see that some would see this as masculine, but i quite like it on me. it's very warm and comforting but sexy at the same time. i kind of want a bottle of this. -
when i first tried this on, it smelled horrible with my skin chemistry...it was actually nauseating! it smelled almost like a kitchen with something cooking in it, which isn't something i want to smell like. as you can guess, it's VERY herbal and strong. however, after an hour it smells quite nice- like a carroty-floral. it's just not worth the horrid first stage to justify me keeping it, unfortunately. .

at first i get something fruity in this, but it doesn't seem like nectarine to me. i think it may be the combination of nectarine, lilac and lily. it's quite floral at first, but once it soaks in a bit, the musk and beeswax come out more. something in this smells off at first, and after that, pretty unremarkable with my skin chemistry. i can't sense white ginger or green tea much either. it's kind of a fruity-aquatic, which are my least favorite notes, so off to swaps with this one.

i've had a bit of this sitting around for awhile and i finally tried it tonight. it's snowy but warm, with no real pine notes or anything, but definitely something wintry + a touch of sweetness. i mostly smelled the snow, white rose and hints of amber and blackberry. very pretty! even though it's no longer winter, this scent also works in the spring!

when i first sniffed the imp, i wasn't sure about this one, the honey and red currant smelled a bit too sweet for me in the imp. thankfully, the sweetness settles down and becomes a soft, warm yet sexy scent. the oaklmoss and orris soften it up and thankfully, the patchouli is non-existent or subtle. the black musk is pretty subtle in this too, so it's not as powerful as it sounds-just a soft warm musky scent. almost sort of comforting, unlike the description says

Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self-Similarity v1

CXLVI got a decant of this. oh god i am not so good at picking out notes sometimes. it smells like dorian + a floral oriental (vague, i know) on my skin. when i smell the imp, i get a dorian + extra citrus + SOME floral that i can't put my finger on, but maybe it's iris. the floral part is almost a bit spicy, like florals such as chrysanthemum or carnation can get in some blends, but i don't think it's either of those florals. could be...orchid too. this is driving me nuts at any rate, it's a bit strong at first, but once it settles, it's really pretty, like dorian with extra oomph and femininity. -
ooh i like this even more than i thought i would! it's like a clovey-spicy tea on my skin. there's a sweetness which i think comes from the caramel, currant and anise that really blends together beautifully. the spiciness of the clove keeps it from being too sweet. it reminds me of red/orange spicy or chai tea, mixed with something slightly woodsy or natural. amazing! like drinking a cup of steaming hot tea in the cool air.

whoa what a weird scent. it smells like shampoo and libraries/video rental stores mixed together. i don't know how else to explain it. this is sort of masculine, but sort of not- the musk and vanilla caramel bring the masculinity down a notch. all in all, it doesn't really smell good on me, so i think i'll swap it!

ohh what a delectable and interesting scent! bpal's mum note seems to like me, and here it is no different. this is a smoky-sweet floral with an almost candylike feeling to it. this one morphs a lot on me, i liked it when wet but now that it's dry i'm not sure i like it as much. something here smells chocolatey-earthy here. i think my skin is doing a number on it though so i will try it again later for the final verdict.
-
sometimes honey is a dealbreaker, but i decided to try this one anyway. i don't have much opinion on it, because my skin seems to eat it right up, leaving me with a very very faint trace of black currant and honey. i need to try this one again at a later date, i think my skin chemistry is strange today.
-
i was almost sure this would work perfectly on me, and i was mostly wrong! it's quite a morpher, and i do enjoy the underlying notes- i can sense the sugar, vanilla and copal. but something in here just amps up in a very department store-perfumey sort of way and i don't know what it could be. i think maybe the skin musk, but i can't be sure. this one is strange-i'll sniff and it'll smell bad, then it'll smell good a minute later...my skin chemistry is a mystery sometimes. i will set this aside and try it again at a later date.
-
i really am only getting a subtle lily from this, now that it has subdued on my skin. at first i got a weird sour note, but that faded. there is no stephanotis or cherry to be found, my skin eats it right up. unfortunate too, because stephanotis is my favorite note here.
-
as usual, white rose tends to go sour on me. after this fades a bit, so does the sourness, and the orchid comes out more, and it smells a lot nicer. the labdanum adds a bit of resinyness to the background, grounding the florals. this is nice, but is not wowing me, so i think i'll swap it.

i like this scent, but it isn't quite what i expected. it's definitely floral-oriental, i just thought it would be sweeter from the vanilla. i think bpal's vanilla does strange things on me though. it's very warm and spicy on me, as i think bpal's vanilla really spices up on me. the orange blossom is subtle, i kind of wish it was stronger, but at the same time i really like this how it is!
