received this as a frimp. on my skin it's clean, clear and pale aquatics and florals-very fresh and springlike, and just wet smelling. i think i smell the ivy and maybe the lily? it just smells so watery to me, but i'm not sure which note that would be! it's a pretty, light scent, and not really somber at all, but it's not really my style.

in the vial i smell red musk and not much else-maybe a tinge of the orchid. on my skin, it starts out all red musk, but once it dries and settles the clove comes forward, and all the other notes sit in the background. they're very blended-i can't seem to pick out vanilla or patchouli, though i think i get hints of the tonka and peru balsam perhaps. all the other vampire scents i tried were pale and white and ethereal, this is the first one i've tried that's fiery and warm. it's nice and i like it a lot, it's just that i think i have a lot of very similar scents, so i'm not sure i need a bottle. i'll keep my decant though because i do like this a lot!

oh my god i LOVE this! buying a bottle promptly! this is BEAUTIFUL...and reminiscent of some scent i've tried somewhere, but even better. it's what i always hoped snow white would be on me. it's like a creamy white scent-the pale musk is gorgeous! it's really difficult to pick out notes-it's more like they blend together seamlessly to make a stunningly beautiful combination! this is wintry to me, but not with any aquatic or pine notes.

crap, the chesnuts are more prominent than i was hoping for. when i first put this on there's that strong foody note, but then it calms down a bit and gives way to the other notes, once it dries. however, now i've had it on for a half an hour+ and it is overwhelmingly chestnut. it doesn't smell bad or anything, i am just not a foody scent lover for the most part. i think i might love this if the chestnut was more subtle.

this is baby powderish...plus white florals. wasn't sure what heliotrope smells like, but i guess this is it. it's a white, powdery floral scent. i am not getting any blood or dirt at all. this is a very odd scent...not sure i'd ever wear it though!

hm, the notes in this one are hard to place. it's kind of like a floral-ozone/aquatic, but for some reason, i kind of LIKE it...and ozones and i usually don't get along. i can't tell what sort of floral this is, but i like it. it's not a white nor tropical floral...but seems to be in the orchid/lily category. maybe lily, as it's too subtle to be orchid. i think i get the musky/incense note far in the background as a lovely supporting note. it definitely smells funereal, that's for sure! i like this, though it's not what i was expecting at all. not sure about getting a whole bottle, but i think i'll keep my decant.

this is a soft powdery pale rose with maybe a hint of grey amber (?) it really amps on me, as compared to in the imp. it's kind of like a cold, sophisticated rose scent, which certainly supports the description. i don't get much skin musk, but it definitely seems musky and ambery, but in a very soft pale way. i will have to try this again...i like it, but don't love or hate it.

hm, i don't really get much rose (if any?) from this at all. mostly lilies and something grassy...yew branches? this smells kind of earthy and tree like...definitely, but i am having trouble picking out notes. and not one note seems to stand out more than the others. i dont get the blood at all. also, this totally reminds me of another bpal scent, but i can't place it. i wish i could be more clear on my review but i'm just not sure what i'm smelling here! it's kind of like...musty lilies(?)

i'd never willingly try this, but i got it as a sniffie in a swap. it's not my kind of scent at all, but it's not so bad on my skin even. it's a sweet milky strawberry scent...i really don't get the grass much at all, mostly just milk, vanilla and strawberry. it's interesting to try so "un-me" scents once in awhile. usually BPAL's milk note turns sour on me, but in this it didn't!

what an odd scent with my skin chemistry. my skin almost eats it right up, but i can smell a sort of cedary-coconut scent. like, a really subtle coconut. an this is mixed with a sort of warm-metallic scent (amber and citrus?) ah very difficult to describe. my skin eats it so much too, i can hardly smell it. i don't think it smells all that great on me either.

OMG i love this! it's really interesting-i am getting mostly musk, tobacco, amber and i think a combination of mandarin and plum (luckily the plum is subtle, as it can turn plasticky on me.) it's sultry and mysterious and sexy...mmm! i giallo movies, especially argento, so i was really hoping this would work on me. goin' on my big bottle wishlist!

this is a sweet lemon-coconut with maybe some white floral added? almost reminds me of the floral in pele...a white floral + ginger maybe. it's kind of tropical to me but also slightly smells like lemon frosting. it reminds me of a sweeter version of murder of crows (if i am remembering correctly), which was also a soft lemony scent, but less sweet.

this smells sweet and light in the imp with a touch of musk and lemon blossom. on my skin, it's mostly cool ozoney-musks, which is so not my type of scent. i was hoping the musks would be warmer, or like white musk. that combined with a VERY subtle peach nd all the other notes could've been perfect on my skin, but all i seem to get is a slightly masculine cool musk.
-
this smells like a clearer, brighter, less smutty smut. it's got tons of red musk but is lighter and fruiter. not quite as dark. i normally don't like super-fruity scents, but there is enough tea and musk in here to temper the mango to where to doesn't get to sweet or cloying.
-
this smells like herbal-peppermint in the imp. on my skin it curiously turns to a dry herbal-mint-floral, but i cannot place the florals in this at all. something dry and woody is in the background, rounding out the peppermint, that almost smells cocoa-y, but i cannot place it!
-
whoa, VETIVER. strong, strong vetiver with something else...perhaps patchouli, as other reviewers have said? i think i also get an astringent-citrus sort of not too, but nothing i can describe in words. definitely don't wanna wear this on my skin ever again, but i will definitely try it in a useful way soon.
-
in the imp all i can smell is herbals with a hint of lavender. as soon as it hits my skin, it's herbal-cinnamon and no lavender. after it's dry it's straight up cinnamon with a very slight powdery softness behind it.

got this as a frimp from the lab: manly, manly mountainy-aquatic musk. it smells like commercial deodorant or aftershave-not really my kind of scent, but i'm glad i got to try it!
-
this is a sweet springlike floral, almost cloyingly so. i think i am mostly getting parsley, chamomile and maybe moss? not sure, but it's a very golden-herbal-floral and is much too sweet for my tastes. i was hoping for more gardenia, moss and carnation, but sadly those notes are hardly detectable, if at all on my skin.

Smoky Moon 2009: Tristesses de la Lune

this is quite woody and smoky. in the beginning it smells like oakmoss, which is one of my favorite notes! the oakmoss has faded after a bit and now i am getting the nicotiana and orris and not much else. maybe a touch of musk but no stephanotis, which is too bad because it's another favorite note. this scent is very dry and not sweet but smoky. i really can't tell if i like this or not-i like it a lot with the oakmoss, but now that it has disappeared (or whatever it was) i am feeling sort of ambivalent about it. i think i may have to swap it, but i'll give it one more chance to redeem itself. -
oh god, i forgot that i can't do bpal's milk note. aggghhh it turns into this sweet-nauseating scent on my skin, which is unfortunate cause i can tell that the fig smells quite nice in the background. i don't get any myrrh for some reason. definitely off to swaps

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

i just tested All They Had Seen, and All They Had Lost and it smells just like oscar de la renta. -
this is nice and soft, kind of powdery. i get a very soft rose scent-more like yellow roses than red ones. not sure what aspen leaves smell like, but this is a powdery floral on me. it actually smells exactly like oscar de la renta, which my grandmother used to wear, so it reminds me of her.

Serpents with Glittering Eyes and Forky Tongues
theseagrows replied to IronMollyBlack's topic in Discontinued Scents
this is a fruity aquatic on me. i mostly get the red currant and green musk, with a hint of lime. it is a very green and red scent. i'm not getting much lemon or herbs though. nice but too fruity/aquatic for my personal tastes. -
got a sniffie of this in a swap with enough to try! sniffing the imp, and when wet on my skin, there is a strong vetiver note, with the tangerine, which is tangy, in the backround. can't sense any of those other notes at first. once the vetiver calms down though, this turns into a slightly metallic(?) spicy-orange scent. i am not getting a strong amber note-this is warm but not in a rich ambery way. am not getting much cinnamon or licorice either. i kind of like this, it's different than anything i've tried in awhile.
