    Castitas Bath Oil

i've had a decant/sample of this for a long time. i'd sniff the little plastic bottle and think eh, i'm not in the mood for this kind of scent...i am not a foody scent person, but i do like vanilla, but it smelled a bit to caramely or hazelnut for my tastes. tonight, i finally decided to try it, and i was very pleasantly surprised. the vanilla is beautiful and soft and there is something that smells like moonflower to me. to me, it's a very pale, white, subtle scent with a shy hint of sexiness from white musk...so even though that isn't listed- i get moonflower, vanilla and white musk and it's absolutely beautiful.

    The Grave-Pig

hmm, the fig in this is more fruity than i had hoped. some fruitier scents turn a bit plasticky on me, and this does too. it kind of smells candle-ish on my skin and kind of unremarkable. it's like an earthy-fruity scent, but not really what i think of as figgy, necessarily. my skin chemistry can be wonky with fruits though, so that's probably the explanation for this.

    A Golden Idol

this scent is much less intriguing than i thought it would be, and i think it's because the vetiver is too strong. i don't mind vetiver sometimes, but i was hoping for more tea rose and amber. unfortunately this smells like powdery pencil shavings...which i guess is just the vetiver and amber. i can't smell the tea rose or lavender at all i do like amber but combined with the vetiver, this just isn't working with my skin chemistry.

The Maltese Cross of Sanctus Germanus

this scent smells very orangey in the bottle, however on my skin, i can detect no orange at all, but rather a very sexy amber scent. i think golden amber is the most apparent, for the most part, with the other notes as supporting characters. i had feared that the lilac or frankincense might overpower this, but luckily they do not. this is a very warm, sexy scent and i like it quite a bit.

    Cicuta

Dry, dusty rose petals, candle smoke, frankincense, and saffron. ooh this scent is very gothic. it makes me think of withered old mansions full of cobwebs and candleabras. like an old black and white vampire horror film! it smells like candles and dusty roses, but i also sense something very slightly watery here, not completely dry, like the description. the saffron adds a nice oomph, and luckily the frankincense is subtle or undetectable, as it can sometimes turn on me. i'm happy to find this scent...it reminds me of gypsy queen but less musky. the first rosy scent that has wowed me in awhile!

    Odd Portents

oooh this is dark and sexy. one of the few fruity-ish scents that works for me. i love scents like these, that seem to be a conglomeration of resins/incense, florals and berries. lovely and sexy in a dark, dusky way. the rose is very subtle, i think i am actually getting mostly olibanum, musk, black currant, lavender and amber incense. DAMN this is sexy. i might need a bottle of this!!!

    The Harp of Cnoc I'Chosgair

hm, i'm not sure WHAT notes im getting here. maybe it's tagetes, since i don't know what that is. this definitely has a warmth to it from the amber, and i'm thinking "gilded amber" is a more metallic amber, which this scent seems to have. maybe the golden sandalwood also adds a hint of metal, because this smells very much like that-warm metallics. i don't smell any tiare, vanilla or cardamom though.

    Dawn: Maiden

i love tea roses and oliveblossom. the others notes, if too strong, can often be dealbreakers, but with the two notes that work, this scent is really lovely! i mostly get tea rose with a nice backing melange of which i can pick out no notes. but this works very well with my skin chemistry. the tea rose is subtler and softer than it often is by itself, and i like it. i will definitely keep my imp. i think this would be really nice to wear in the spring, especially.

    Slaugh

holy sassafras! i think i am getting sassafras and maybe the tonka? i am not sure, but this smells like a bubbly root beer with a bit more oomph and strength than other sassafras scents i've tried. not sure what's doing it, the tea or the tonka, but it's amped up on my skin. sadly, i get no champaca at all.

    The Red Rider

at first this smells like very strong, sharp leather and red musk. after awhile, i am getting a strong leather scent that is different than de sade. de sade works better for me, as this one has a sharpness and strength that gives me a headache. de sade smelled like black leather to me, but this smells like worn, brown leather to me (if that makes any sense.) more like a horse's saddle than a leather jacket.

    High-Strung Daisies

this is very very sweet and floral. i think i'm getting mainly daisy and sugar with just a hint of carnation. i LOVE carnation as a note, so i was hoping for more of it in this. this reminds me of pink moon 07, but with the sweetness of daisy and pink pepper added. pink moon 07 is one of my absolute favorites, so i was hoping for a similar GC, but alas it is not meant to be. the daisy makes this much sweeter and stronger.

    Clockwork Couture: Female

this scent is extremely subtle on me. if there is an opposite of amping notes, then my skin may be doing it with this scent. i can't really make out distinct notes very well in this-just vanilla orchid and maybe a hint of tonka. i get no leather, moss, clay or amber from this whatsoever. my skin seems to (mostly) eat it right up.

    Imperious Tiger-Lily

at first this is pure neroli with a hint of lily in the background. as it dries, the lily comes out even more. i think i am getting a tiny hint of the purple fruits and an even tinier hint of frankincense and ginger. but mostly it's lily lily lily. too much lily for my tastes!

    Sanctus

for some reason, this is WAY sweeter than i imagined it would be. i guess i am mostly smelling osmanthus and musk? it definitely isn't lily of the valley, and the frankincense is subtle. this is a very strong, sweet floral on my skin. maybe my skin amps osmanthus though? i don't have much experience with it as a note, i only recall 1 or 2 other scents smelling like this.

    VILF

Vampire smut: patchouli-infused honey, red musk, red sandalwood, red ginger, pink pepper, Peru balsam, dark Eastern florals, Himalayan cedar, smoky vanilla, bitter clove, and leather. the leather, cedar, musk and red sandalwood seem to stand at the forefront of this. especially the leather. cedar isn't one of my favorites, and it's pretty strong here, so mostly this smells like leathery-musky cedar on me. alright, but not quite what i was hoping for. i do like the leather a lot though!

    Moonshine and Mist

ooooh i really like this one! it actually reminds me a lot of a violette market scent i have, but i digress. this is a very soft white musk with florals and a hint of amber. the sandalwood behaves itself in this blend (sometimes it does not, with my skin chemistry.) this scent does indeed smell very white, misty, and otherworldly. very lovely.

    The White Rider

this is one of those scents where the sandalwood goes wonky on me. BPAL woods often have this effect, but it's random so i never really know. i do quite like the white leather though, and look forward to more scents that contain it. after the perfume has been on for about an hour, it smells good, but the first part is just kind of sour and weird due to the woods and my skin chemistry.

    Slobbering Pine

hmm, i get nothing pine-y from this at all. i guess this is a carnivorous plant though. this smells like a sugary, slightly watery sweat pea. reminiscent of the mouse's long and sad tale, but more pungent. it's very sweet and candylike. i really don't know what other notes are in this. it's overwhelmingly sweet pea on me. i am surprised that anyone gets pine from this...i am almost wondering whether i have a mis-labeled imp!

    Witchblade

this is very similar to other "metal" scents i've tried. warm and musky, but with an ozoney-underlayer that sharpens it. i pretty much get musk and metal, and a hint of the frankincense, which, as it often does, turns to pencil shavings on me. this scent is alright, but it's a bit too strong and ozone-y for my tastes.

    Bedbug

i chuckled softly when i left nycc and looked through my frimps at my friend's house where i was staying, and came upon 3 bedbug imps! as others have mentioned, this smells a lot like cardamom with some orange spice tea peeking out of the background. since i tend to avoid foodier scents, i can't really think of a similar BPAL i've tried. orange and cardamom pretty much sums it up.

    The Velvets

hrm, i have mixed feelings on this one. i get a mostly incensy oriental-floral from this, where everything is so blended, it's difficult for me to pick out individual notes. it does smell nice, but because it's so blended, it smells like a lot of other scents i own(ed.) i mostly get amber, incense and musk i think. i wish i could sense the rose, violet and iris more. i like this, but i may swap it, just because i have similar scents that i like better.

did a search and realized i reviewed this twice, sorry!

    Paper Kite

i really love coconut scents, but i think i do better when they are softened by musks or florals. this one was pure coconut on me-it smelled like suntan lotion, with a hint of paperiness, actually. it wasn't a bad scent, and because i like coconut, i might pick it to wear on a rare occasion. however, i rarely think i'd like to smell SO coconutty.

    Snooty Rose

i love rose. sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, depending on the type of rose, the amount of it and the other notes in the scent, so i honestly never know what will happen when i try on a rose scent. i am ambivalent about this scent. i don't love it, but i don't hate it either. i guess it's a darker rose with hints of plum and oud on my skin. kind of deep, but not as deep as gypsy queen...maybe more reminiscent of peacock queen, but a little duskier and warmer (if memory serves.)

    Lamia

wow, what a beautiful scent. i love all the notes in this, except i was iffy on the peach, because i am generally not a fruity-loving person. the peach seems to come to the front, and i like it less, because it overpowers, but then it moves to the back, and i :love!: this. it smells a lot like incense to me, i definitely get the coconut, amber and oude coming out the most. i just wish the orchid was a bit more obvious. i think i may need a bottle of this though...it is so warm and pretty.
