i knew i had to get this because my own natal mercury/venus are at 26 aries, pretty much conjunct this conjunction! when first applied, this smells like an herbal-lemon scent, but it quickly morphs into a lemony-floral. i cannot place the floral, so it may be magnolias as others have stated above. it's a soft, white floral scent with just a tinge of sweetness. hard to explain, but this is like a subtle-floral-skin scent. it is not a skin musk or anything, but reminds me of a skin/hair scent, like the scent of something alive...hard to articulate. i just put this on this morning, but i do feel kind of a mood boost from it. it seems comforting yet motivating at the same time, and very familiar for some reason, but i cannot place it. i look forward to using this one and will cherish my bottle.

damnit damnit, opium sometimes works on me, rose usually does, but rarely it doesn't. i thought if anything, opium would be the culprit, but noooo, it's the rose! it smells good on top, but there is a sourness underneath that i often get from white florals, and occasionally get from rose. other than that, this is a beautiful scent, if it did not have that rosy-sourness, i would love this. so sad. ETA: ok, after about an hour, this is a dark rose scent and i it. if only it weren't for that supreme sourness in the beginning...i'm not sure i could deal with it for as long as it lasts.

aw, what a pretty, soft scent this is! i think i am mostly getting amber and petitgrain, because i get a slight white-floral scent in the background, and the only thing that seems close would be petit grain. this is a very warm, fuzzy scent. slightly sweet and very comforting. it kind of just brings a smile to my face i don't know if i need a bottle, but i will definitely keep my imp.
-
this is a powdery narcissus-patchouli scent on me, with a hint of neroli in the background. none of the other notes seem to stand out much, so they must be blended very well. i also get a very slight sweetness, but i am not sure what it's from. sometimes teak goes bad on me, but it behaves here! this scent is alright by me, but not supremely-wowing or anything. i think the narcissus is a bit too strong, because i get a slightly sour scent that is either narcissus or neroli.

hrrm, i definitely smell the plum the strongest, as usual. i think my skin amps plum and turns it plasticky, so it sometimes overwhelms. sigh, i guess i should know to steer clear of plum, but this sounded so neat! however, as time passes, the plum does tone down a bit, and i am getting some kind of slight spiciness? but a soft spiciness, not spicy like cinnamon or anything. not sure what that is. the cream isn't very creamy and i am not getting any overwhelming floral either. what an odd scent...it's plum with something, but i cannot make out what that something is! perhaps it's just a subtle creaminess? because there is definitely a warmth to it. i almost like it, if only plum didn't turn plasticky on me. ETA: about an hour later, i kind of like this, against my better judgment. i think i could wear it in winter and like it a lot. so i will keep my imp. the plum is only slightly plasticky now, and it's kind of a comforting scent.

this smells a LOT like dia in the bottle, and dia is one of my favorites, so i was excited to try this. on my skin, it's a slightly toasty coconut and oakmoss scent. after a little bit, a creamy rose scent comes out, kind of like hope, but more creamy, whereas hope is like a sugary rose. this smells very much like rapunzel by arcana on my skin, but with the added oakmoss. the rose seems to slowly blossom more and more, the longer this is on my skin. occasionally, i'll get a bit of sourness from some rose scents. this one seems to have a tinge of that in the background. hopefully it stays subtle so that this is wearable for me. i like this one quite a bit!

Slippery Poppy Tincture
theseagrows replied to Leopard403's topic in Doc Constantine's Pharmacopoeia
Poppy flowers, acai berry, and honey. got this as a frimp from the lab! i originally avoided this because i knew none of these notes would be "my thing." that's pretty true, though i do notice that poppy flowers smell different than the opium/poppy note, which turns gross on me. there isn't any of that in this scent, but instead a sweet and sharp fruity-floral. the honey is subtle, i can't really smell it at all. i think i mostly get the berry and the poppy flowers in the background. nice for those who like springy fruity-florals. -
Their scent of their slick, rubbery hides is bittersweet, ticklish, and skin-creeping: something akin to yuzu, white grapefruit, and kumquat mixed with the snow-dusted flowers of Mount Ngranek. got this as a frimp from the lab! at first smell, this is a sweet and sour citrus-floral. very fresh, vibrant and springy. exactly the kind of scents i rarely/never wear but i was delighted to try this anyhow. smells like watery citrus fruits and floral. very young and fresh. i can't pick out what florals these are, but remind me of the ones in amsterdam and the unicorn, very light and not cloying or heavy.

i kind of knew this wouldn't be a "me" scent, but i love the imagery/idea of a scent based on the moors. i was hoping that maybe, just maybe the "stone" would be subtle and not overwhelm the scent, and i would get a smoky, dirty, grassy oakmoss scent, but alas, the metallic-ozone of the stone is very strong on me. i think my skin must amp ozone notes, because all i can really smell is ozone, mud, and maybe a smidge of the fire in the background. pretty, but ozone gives me a headache, unfortunately.

how have i never tried this one? hmm. anyway, i got this as a frimp, and it's kind of delightful. this does smell very shadowy and reminds me of bpals i've tried before, but can't place right now. thankfully, the frankincense and sandalwood are behaving and not turning to pencil shavings on me. this scent is very dark, but starts out with a clearness, which i guess is the fougere? however, that clearness reminds me of the clear, golden musk or amber (?) in haunted, but those aren't listed. the lemon peel gives a brightness to the scent so it doesn't become TOO dark. this is pretty, and very unisex. i'd kind of think this would smell good on the ol' boyfriend, hmm.

Ii No Hayata Kills the Nue at the Imperial Palace

hrrm, at first i was getting the pencil-shaving scent that i often get from the lab's frankincense and sandalwood notes, but i searched the notes and saw none of that, so i think it must be the bay note. i must amp bay? and it's a note that i don't really like. i can sense the other notes, but bay stands at the forefront. this smells very much like an old-school masculine cologne from the 50s to me. not really my thing, personally, but i am glad i got frimped with it so i could try it. -

got this as a frimp in a swap. i think i had originally passed on it, because of the pear note, though i like all the others. right after application, this smells exactly like watermelon bubbleicious! after a minute or two, it turns to slightly toasted coconut mixed with the pear and tiare. a warm, golden, fruity-coconutty scent. i am normally not into sweet-fruity scents, but i admit, i kind of like this! almost reminds me of a fruity coconut pie or something? i guess due to that "toastiness" i am getting. after about 10-15 minutes, this is quite beautiful: the toastiness has settled a bit, and it is a coconut-pear-incense scent. lovely! -
this is a spicy, dusky rose supported by a resin-y or incensy background, which i guess is opium. the leather is there, but it's subtle on my skin, and seems to fade as the seconds pass. i was worried about this one, because i can do rose and leather, but whip did not work for me, and often BPAL's opium/poppy note turns sour on my skin. thankfully, the blend here works just fine, i get a dark, musky rose that's kind of soft, actually, though initially the rose is a bit of a greener, sharper rose. very pretty!

this was my most coveted of the gothy scents! this reminds me a lot of stardust, which also has a hairspray note, but since i swapped my bottle, i can't really compare them to one another. this scent feels richer and darker than stardust though (if memory serves.) it's kind of like a smoky-floral with incense, though i can't place the floral, it seems kind of orchid like? there is definitely a hair dye element, but in a good way. this scent really does epitomize a female deathrocker to me, just because the floral component makes it a more typically "feminine" scent. i love dark, incensy florals, so i really do love this one. i am SO glad i was able to get some of this! ETA: trying again years later and it smells like dior's poison, if memory serves.

hrm, i haven't tried a scent of this type in quite some time! i think i am getting mainly musk and clove. this reminds me of the musk in haunted, a clear, pale brown musk, or, that's what color comes to mind. not a red, white or black musk. i think perhaps i can sense a slight pepperiness too. not sure i am getting any of the other notes though. this is very musky, incensy and clovey on my skin. i used to really be into scents like this, but not as much anymore. a nice spicy musk though, and quite unisex.
-
minty, snowy and a floral note, but it doesn't smell like tuberose to me, at all. more like a white floral, closer to lilac, but subtler and softer. damn, i was hoping to really like this one, but it smells kind of weird on me. i hate my skin chemistry at times

i tried this a few months ago, but totally forgot to review it, so i am trying it again! this is a very sexy musk scent, but it's not very animal-like or strong. it's more subtle and on my skin, smells like a mildly spicy vanilla-musk. it's very creamy and soft, but still sexy. love this! ETA: guess i have the version without the red musk, because this is sexy but subtle. hmm, now i am intrigued to smell the red musk one, because i might like that as well.

i thought i had tried this one, and it smells very familiar, but i haven't reviewed it. luckily, the berries in this are subtle, as fruit sometimes go plasticky on me. i guess i am getting mostly amber and spices...but i can't detect what spices they are. they are very soft though, not spicy in a cinnamon or peppery way, but subtle and warm. i really can't place the spices at all though. i like this alright, but it's not wowing me, so i will have to swap it.

got this as a frimp in a swap. at first, holy lily and cypress or? cajeput? i don't know, something green, sour and kind of herbal. this scent is very floral and strong on me with an herbal background. i am not liking it much. i think it's actually making me sneeze as well! ok, now that it's calmed down and the sour-herbal thing is gone, i am getting more violet. now it's pretty much violet and lily, and it's kind of nice, but ultimately, it is not a scent i would really wear.
-
yeeeah, i am only trying this one because i got it as a frimp. i steer clear of apple, usually. at first this seems like pure apple on me with a bit of tanginess from the lemon, but i get no rose. there's something sour in the background though, so maybe that's it? this doesn't work on me at all..it's kind of sickly sweet but combined with sourness. after awhile it smells like apples and dust. ha, i don't know, i knew it probably wouldn't work, but it was interesting to try!
-
this does really smell like a "classic" scent. it is very, very dry. i swear all i get is poppy and gunpowder and maybe the narcissus. i was hoping to get the clove, amber, tobacco and skin musk, but apparently most of the notes in this are eaten by my skin. but actually, i can't even smell those notes (or any others) in the vial, so, i'm not sure what happened with this one.
-
i got this as a frimp in a swap, which is the ONLY reason i am trying it i do not like fruity scents, especially pineapple, but i couldn't resist trying it anyway. and actually, i am pleasantly surprised! i don't get pineapple at all...what this smells like is BBW's plumeria scent, exactly, on my skin. i used to like that scent when i was younger, but now it's too much. glad i got to try this interesting scent though!
-
wow, what a weird scent...it's a smoky woody-carnation on me. for some reason, when i smell it, i visualize a ship at sea at night with dark wood interiors, and something sinister is going to happen. ha. it definitely does smell cloudy, i detect the carnation and khus, which is an odd combination. i guess the yew must be the woody backdrop. i mostly tried this because of the fougere and carnation, but alas, it is too woody for my tastes.
-
this is a very shimmery, sweet floral on me. it's like a bubbly fruity-floral, but i cannot place the floral...unless it's the zdravetz, which i guess is some kind of geranium? the florals in this smell kind of tropical to me, with a hint of pineapple-coconut. it actually smells very similar to how this one drink i've had tastes...a chi chi. i think a chi chi is made with macadamia nut liqueur, pineapple, coconut and vodka. yeah, i am really curious to what the "summer flowers" are now. i like this scent in a way, but it is SO not me and far too sweet for my tastes. really really interesting though!
-
hmm, this smells fairly unremarkable on me, unfortunately. it's a dry vanilla and saffron. i don't get any of the vanilla orchid, which i was hoping would be the most prominent note, because i love orchid and vanilla combined. bummer, i'll have to swap this one. not that it's terrible or anything, but my skin chemistry makes it very meh.
