Oh! Also, I can't believe I didn't notice this earlier, but the new atmo Young Edith's Bedroom has both books and beeswax in the description. It sounds lovely
-
Has the Lab ever made a scent that is books/leather + beeswax/candles? I can't really think of one, but if you know one, please let me know
-
Thanks for the many suggestions, everyone! I will go on a little hunt

Rich brown sugar single note! It is very fun and festive, but too foody for me, ultimately. If you enjoy brown sugar, be sure to try this one!

A very beautiful blend. I can pick out the white flowers, and the pepper gives it just a little bit of zest that I quite like. It feels somewhat funereal, so I'm not sure when I would get around to wearing it, to be honest. I like the juxtaposition of white and black notes in this blend, fitting for the concept picture.

A Holy Man Advises a Woman to Invoke Mary Against a Devil
Aviatrix replied to AmyO'Shields's topic in Halloweenie
This is very faint on me. I mostly get the white tea with a bit of neroli. No leather for me, which is a bit sad. It is a very pretty little scent and doesn't feel demonic at all The only problem I have with it is that the throw is very low on me. But I will keep my decant; this is fitting for a little tea party, I think!- 11 replies

This one has a lot of cinnamon, but it feels almost effervescent for some reason? There is a hint of the leather in the background, and the whole thing is shrouded in a little cloud of incense smoke. Very lovely, and definitely unisex too. It feels like a powerful blend for a man, but the right kind of woman could definitely wear it too.

Plasticky cucumber! This one is not for me, I'm afraid
-
In the bottle and wet on the skin this is very foody! But after a while the patchouli takes over and the foodiness dissipates. I am getting a little bit of the vanilla as well, but on me this is mainly patchouli. I should have known, since I amp patchouli in most blends, but oh well.

I am getting a lot of honey from this one, with white rose. It certainly shares a vibe with Katrina Van Tassel, but is also very different. There is something greenish creeping up behind the rose scent + a little resinous glow from the myrrh. I actually prefer the wet stages on this one, where it is predominantly rose. But overall it is a nice and somewhat different weenie

This feels almost "green" initially, although there are no green notes listed. It's a very soft and wistful blend of white flowers and a little cognac (not a lot), with the sandalwood grounding everything nicely. It is very pretty, but ultimately not something I would reach for often. I'll keep my decant, though!

Blood and Judgment So Well Commeddled
Aviatrix replied to IronMollyBlack's topic in Limited Editions
This starts out as a blast of almond that seems almost bitter. It's a little too powerful for my tastes, but it fades quickly and settles into a soft, well-worn leather with a sweet overlay. The leather feels more like dusty suede, actually. Very nice. I am not getting much of the other notes, though, which is a shame. Overall I quite like it, and it feels like a rather grown-up scent for Lilith -
There is also High-Strung Daisies. It's a cotton candy-ish floral
-
Oh, if you're up for limited edition scents, the Lilith blend Muse of Fire is the perfect sweet, sugared flower scent Also, the Yule blend La Befana (came out in 2007 and 2013) is a very festive sugared flower scent, with a little smoke in the background.
-
This is exactly what the description says! A veritable explosion of colours and impressions of flowers, all coated in a not-too-sticky sugar. It is fresh and sprightly, a little sharp, but not too much so, and very festive. I'm glad I got a bottle; this is exactly the kind of sugared flowers I love!

This one is utterly beautiful! So evocative of autumn. It starts of rather fruity, with the pomegranate and currant being equally prominent, but after a little while a soft smokiness settles in and turns the scent snuggly and somewhat sweet. The patchouli is soft and not overwhelming; just perfect! The honey is not overwhelming either, but just gives a teensy bit of sweetness to the blend. It reminds me somewhat of Samhain, actually, although this one is not as dark and smoky. It is very autumnal, and if you like Samhain, I would say give this a go, you won't be disappointed! It stays fairly close to the skin.

This goes on as really strong leather at first! Definitely of the black variety. The leather stays at the forefront, but calms down a little as other notes come out to play. Here are the resins and the balsam! The peach is, admittedly, hard to detect against so many heavy notes. I like the blend, but it disappoints a bit as a Peach Pit scent, simply because there is no peach to be found….
-
This is pretty true to the description. A dirt-and-cypress scent that dries down to a nice spicy incense, with a teensy bit of dirt remaining. I quite like it.
-
This is really good! It's one of the most outdoorsy, autumnal scents I have ever tried; it smells like when you make your way through some overgrown shrubbery in the late summer, when everything is really dry and crackling. I can't identify the notes, since I wouldn't know what half of these notes smell like, but I like it anyway. The resins give it a little bit of grounding, but are otherwise not very prominent for me. It could totally be an overgrown cemetery in the September afternoon sun

This is a soft as can be rose peach with a creamy background of vanilla. It does exactly as it says in the notes, and it is super yummy. If you are iffy on the rose, you might still like it, as it is a very soft and not overwhelming rose. The rose is a little more in front than the peach, though.
-
This opens up with a blast of ozoney snow, the same kind of snow note as in Almond Blossom. At first there is a citrusy feel, but quickly the peach becomes the dominant note. I am not getting any green tea.
-
A life in miniature, manipulated by deft little hands: sugared carnation and wispy white wine grape. This is very much wine grapes on me. Not much carnation to be found, although the blend is kind of spicy still. It lasts a really long time on me, although in the end it's very faint of course. I like it

In 2009, the lab had a late-summer update called Summer's End. They are collectively perfect for late summer/early autumn, and some of my all-time favorites, like Under the Harvest Moon, are from this update.

Have I really never reviewed this before? Well, time to make up for that, then! I love Jareth. The fougere is similar to Dorian (I am not really getting the lilac), but as others have mentioned, this is a little more badass Dorian, because the leather is quite strong as well. It is a gleaming kind of delicious new leather, not dusty or worn in, but not too overwhelming either, like leather can sometimes be. It all blends together very beautifully. There is a sweetness that could be either the tonka or the oud as well. Although the overall concept is rather masculine, I would say that women with a certain attitude could definitely pull it off as well. If you like Dorian, you will probably like this too, but it is a less sweet kind of Dorian for sure. It fits the character very well, I must say! It feels glamorous and sexy, but refined and elegant and badass at the same time. I am glad I finally got around to getting a bottle of it!

I am so glad I took a chance on this scent. It doesn't morph much on me, but stays a spicy acorn scent for hours and hours. I am not sure I am getting any of the strawberry leaf, but there is something a little like tea in the scent, a sweetness that could be the strawberry leaf. I am not usually good with patchouli, and that was the one note I was worried about, but I am not actually getting any of it except a faint sweet smokiness. Overall I am so happy with my bottle and would recommend it to anyone who likes spicy and deep autumnal scents
