    The Sea Foams Milk

This starts off as a pure aquatic scent on me, maybe with a touch of florals as someone else mentioned. I'm still waiting on the milk note. After a while: Ah, there it is! A creamy, white note comes into play and sweetens up the blend considerably. I quite like it! Overall, this one was a surprise hit for me, since I don't usually do aquatics, but the milk note intrigued me (I have lately been on a search for the perfect BPAL milk note). I was pleasantly surprised by this, and I actually think I'm a little bit in love.

    La Lugubre Gondola

Holy resins, Batman! This one opens with a blast of resins, which is of course not surprising given the listed notes. I'm not good at distinguishing different types of resins, though, so to me it's just "resinous". It mellows out and becomes this soft, cuddly fragrance wafting around me when I move my arms. I think I am specifically detecting the amber now. It is really good. This is like a resin lover's dream come true. Soft and sweet and cloudy and nice. I would describe it as glorious. And totally bottle worthy!

    Ü Mütter Museum

At first, the balsam is really strong! For a couple of minutes, that's all I get, which is a little disappointing. Luckily, after a while the leather comes out, and the balsam is toned down quite a bit. Still no vanilla, though. It doesn't morph on me, but stays approximately the same for hours. Maybe the vanilla is in there grounding the scent, but not in itself perceivable? I rather like this scent, although it was different than what I imagined before testing it. It's like a little cloud of snuggly that surrounds me all day. I might get a full bottle, hm....

    Scrappy Damsel

Echoing OctoberGwen, on me this turns to plastic. It shouldn't, because all the notes are made of win, but alas. In the bottle I can smell the wood and the orange blossom, but once it goes on my skin, it all just turns weird. I'm sad, I had really hoped this would be a major winner for me.

    Rose Red

I am trying to get better at wearing rose, so I had to give this one a try! It's a fresh, greenish rose scent, so I am sensing every part of the rose; the leaves, the stem, the petals. The petals are very sweet and not too overwhelming. There is a nice freshness to the blend overall, so the rose doesn't get cloying. I'm still not sure I'm a rose person, but if you are, this one is definitely a pretty one. Just plain and simple and full on rose.

    Whispers of Monstrous Things

When I first put this on, it smelled like what I can best describe as waxy cucumber sandwich. I got somewhat worried! The cucumber sandwich disappears eventually, but the waxy quality remains, as the dusty paper note comes out to play. I'm getting some of the sandalwood as well, and a teeny bit of leather. I can't comment on the sugandh kokila, as Im not familiar with it. I wouldn't say this one is particularly good, since it all has this moldy, waxen atmosphere. But it was better than I expected with the initial cucumberness. I won't be getting a bottle.

    Eldritch Dark

At first this is a whole lot of leather and musk! Yum! It dries down to just a hint of leather, the snuggliness from the musks and a sweet overtone that must be the sugared rose. I am debating a bottle, because this really IS a huge blast of leather on the first stages, but on the other hand it is pretty damn delicious...

    Black Snowballs

In the bottle, this is straight up blackcurrant, very juicy! It reminds me of blue bubblegum! On my skin, the fig comes out. Not sure about the mulberries. There is a little hint of licorice as well, but it is not dominant at all. It does give the scent some bit, though, I think. This is a fun, playful scent, and very different from what I expected. Nothing gothy going on here. I don't need a bottle, but I would recommend it for people who like fun, juicy, light-hearted scents with a bit of bite.

    Chanukkiyah

I am definitely getting beeswax and amber from this. It's really yummy. There is a hint of the olive oil as well. According to Google, sufganiyot is like a doughnut, so that may be what's giving the blend a sweet and foody overtone? I can't readily detect pomegranate or fig, though. Overall, this is very festive and delicious; slightly foody, but not headache-inducingly so. I really like it!

    Pink Snowballs

2013 version! At first this reminded me of Snow White, but after a few minutes the roses take the lead and it becomes its own scent. I don't get vanilla out of this, except maybe for a light sweetness in the background. But this one is all roses all the time! However, it's not a super strong OMG SCREAMING ROSE! scent, just very pretty and light roses. Maybe I didn't put on enough, but on me at least, this one stays very, very close to the skin. It lasts a fairly long time on my skin, too. I admit I was pleasantly surprised by it, given that I usually REALLY don't do roses (I'm trying to learn to appreciate them, though), but at the same time it's not something I would wear often enough to warrant a bottle purchase. I will keep the imp, though, for days when I want to feel girly and pretty. I would recommend this scent to those who like light roses a la the kind in Alice, that is, not loud and obnoxious, but girlish and sweet.

    Snow Angel Atmosphere Spray

This is my first atmo ever! It's very floral, more than I would have expected, but since it's floral tea instead of straight up floral, it feels mellower somehow. There is also the freshness from a little hint of lemon, and the sweetness from the sugar is prominent. But overall, it's not a strong scent, so it leaves my bedding (in this case) smelling just faintly sweet and gorgeous. I love it!

    Ice Princess Bath Oil

This is actually my very first bath oil! It works great as a post-shower moisturizer and leaves my skin feeling soft and delicious. The scent does indeed evoke a chilliness that could be from the peach. When first applied, I get a blast of blackberries, which settles down almost immediately. I don't get any vanilla from this, but I can sense the peach and a sweetness that must be the honey. Maybe because I just didn't use very much, the scent is very faint. It's like being enveloped in a little breeze of goodness that is meant for just me alone. I like it a lot, but wish there had been more vanilla cream in it. I didn't get a decant of Winter Maiden, but I would be curious to see how similar they are (both with the blackberries that seems like a dominant note in this one).

    Village Legend Lives Long

The first impression of this is strong frankincense on me! After a few minutes, some of the other notes come out, especially the myrrh and a teensy bit of chamomile (or maybe I'm imagining it; it's very faint). I'm not entirely sure what opoponax or cistus smell like, so I can't comment on those. This has so far been the best of the Lovecraft Yules for me. It's a nice resin blend that would be good on a cold winter day. I don't need a bottle, since I have other resin scents that are like it, but I would recommend it for any frankincense lovers out there!

    Days of Winter Sunshine

Initially, there is a blast of jasmine, which got me a bit worried (me not being much of a floralist). It calms down after a while, though. I'm not sure what carrot seed smells like, but I'm getting an indistinct slightly herbal scent that could be those notes. It's very good! There's also a tiny bit of an aquatic air to the blend, which I suppose is the sea buckthorn berry. I can't detect the frankincense, so it must be hiding in the background, keeping all the other notes in line. Overall, it's a very pretty blend, and being unfamiliar with several of the notes, I wasn't sure what to expect. I agree with the reviewer who said it's a bit like a garden (with the herbal smell), but to me it also evokes images of cold, grey days with nothing much to do, or indeed the melancholy rain Flaubert talks about. Not in the sense that it makes me feel melancholy, but I can see how it has an air of grey to it that fits the concept well. This was a surprise hit for me, as I had just ordered a decant on a whim, and because a friend of mine was interested in trying it, but now I'm debating whether I need a whole bottle. It isn't like any other scent I have in my collection. In conclusion, if you like fresh herbal scents that are not overwhelmingly so, and if you don't mind the jasmine, you might want to give this one a try. It's certainly a unique blend.

Mother Shub's Pumpkin Pecan Treacle Tarts

While wet, this is a very powerful nutty baked goods scent that I actually find too overpowering. I don't really like the wet stage. However, once it dries, it mellows out quite a bit. Still nutty, but less of the bakery scent that I don't like. I'm not sure I'm detecting any pumpkin, more like pumpkin spices. It's a sweet, spicy, nutty blend that feels very warm and cheerful to me. Overall, it's a little too foody for me, but I will probably keep my decant, since the drydown stage is pretty good. Just not bottle-good. But I recommend it to any lovers of baked good scents and any foodies out there!

    El Dia de los Reyes

2013 version. Initially, I'm getting mostly coffee with a sweetness that could either be the cinnamon or the sugar. Either way, it's really good so far! After a while it goes through a stage of being mostly brown sugar and nothing else, which made me a bit sad. Where is the chocolate?? But the chocolate luckily peeks out later, on drydown, still with massive brown sugar and some spiciness. The coffee is mostly gone by now. It has decent throw and seems to last for a long time, and doesn't change too much with time. This was glorious in the vial, and it's glorious on the skin! Mmmmm, warm, spicy, sweet chocolatey goodness! It's very close to life, I think, and I could absolutely wear it on a cold, grey day to cheer myself up!

    The Mahogany Tree

I am getting mainly the mahogany and the resins in this one. Mmm, sweet, soft resins. I can't pick out the currants or the Muscat. Overall it's a pleasantly comforting scent that really does evoke warmth and laughter. The mahogany is quite sweet. On me, it didn't actually change very much from wet to dried down. The throw is decent. I am contemplating getting a bottle to wear on icy winter days when I need a shot of coziness to get through the day.

    Pits and Galleries of Panic

It starts out very medicinal, which worried me somewhat. However, it disappears after a little while, and what's left is a surprisingly pleasant herbal sandalwood scent with a little bit of zest from the mandarin. I can't really pick out many individual notes, but on a whole it's woody with herbal overtones, and blends very well, I think. I find it quite nice, but it probably wouldn't be the kind of scent I would reach for very often myself.

    Skadi

The initial impression is mint all the way! The mint in this one reminds me of the one in Nuclear Winter. It is sharp and cold. After some time, there is more of the berries and some ozone coming out. The berries make it a bit more sweet, and I can certainly feel the wintry concept in this. It's cold, but surprisingly light and pretty. It would be great for a too hot summer day, I think. I'm just not sure I need more of it than my decant, because I already have a bottle of Öndurdis, which is quite similar in feel to Skadi.

To Juan at the Winter Solstice

When first applied, I get a big hit of bergamot that settles quickly. There is some rose in there, too. After it dries, it becomes a very pretty and comforting blend of rose,, a bit of honey, some woodsy notes and the myrrh grounding the blend in the background. I wish I had gotten more of the hazelnut and myrtle, though. It doesn't have a huge throw, but it fits the delicate nature of the scent well to be a little more subdued. I like the concept of the scent and how it was realized; it's like going on a journey from Maiden (top notes), through Mother (middle notes) to Crone (base notes). I don't think I need a bottle of this, but I am very happy for my decant and will use it whenever I feel like some sweet woodsy comfort!

    Krampuslaufen

This is a whole lot of smoke on my skin! There is a faint sweetness to the scent that may be the chocolate lurking in the background, and I am sensing the apples as well. As others have mentioned, there might be red musk in this, but I'm never good at distinguishing different musks anyway...but there's certainly an animalic quality to it, like the Krampus' fur. It's a very comforting scent in a weird way, because the contrast is so big between the sweetness and the smoke. I think it evokes the Krampus, the candy, and the holiday atmosphere very well. I'm probably not getting a whole bottle, though; the decant should be enough, since it's likely not something I would reach for.

    La Befana

In the vial, this is a very pretty and sweet floral, though I can't quite pick out individual notes. At first, I get a huge amount of violet from this one. Violet can go both ways on me, but usually it works out. I'll see where this goes. After a while the violet has been tempered a little, and I get the sugar and candy notes, which are very pleasant. I am not getting any cypress, but it could just be that it's in the background grounding the blend. There is an overtone of something I can't quite identify, but might be the chimney dust note. I'm also not sure what happened to the lilies, but on the other hand, the scent is fine as it is. Overall, it's a very pretty and fun scent that makes me think of candy stores and holiday cheer! I am debating whether I need a whole bottle, but I'm definitely keeping my little decant!

    A Low Candle-Lit Room

Whoa, there is something in this one that turns downright nasty on me. At first, I get mostly the stale fireplace ashes and a hint of the musk. Maybe a little bit of leather, but it's hard to say. As it dries down, however, it all goes sickly sour and actually leaves me feeling a bit nauseated. I have never had this happening with a BPAL, and in the vial it actually smelled okay. I have no idea what went wrong, but I'm sad it did. Maybe I will give it another try after I let it settle some more, hm....

    Winter Stars

I have no idea what mugwort smells like, so I'm not sure if that's what I'm smelling from the beginning. There certainly is something a bit herbal in there, so that's probably the mugwort. It does seem fresh and sort of "blue" as the above reviewer said. The musk is there and is actually really pretty. The snow is not really noticeable, but lends a bit of coldness to the blend as a whole. I can envision a vast winter night sky dotted with cold, but beautiful stars.

    Go to Sleep, Darlings

I can only agree with every other reviewer; this is indeed like Snow White! It is ever so faint, and from the vial I could almost not smell anything at all. Once on my skin, a little more of the scent came out, but I'm a little sad that it is sooooo faint, because it's really pretty. Snow White is one of my favorite blends ever, and this one is like a lighter version (I still think it has a floral element, just not as prominent as in Snow White). I am not getting any sugar from it, but super soft vanilla and something reminiscent of coconut, but all very, very light. Given the lightness of the scent, it stays very close to the skin, and on drydown I literally had to shove my nose into my wrist to catch the scent. I like it very much, but I'm not sure I'm going for a full bottle, simply because it is so faint that wearing it becomes almost pointless. But for a day when you need just a slight pick-me-up, and maybe on very warm days, I'm sure it's a beautiful scent to wear
