In the bottle: A gorgeous combo of snake oil swirling with dark burnt violet petals, which I think is coming from the orris root. On wet: Beautiful rich woody smelling snake oil. Dry: Sultry spiced vanilla with resinous rich undernotes. Not to much throw here but decent lasting as this stayed on for a good 5 hours before I reapplied. Glad I just picked up this nearly full bottle from ebay because I can see myself using this all up by fall. I love it.

Yum! I love gourmand scents and this is perfect. I got this as a frimp from the lab with some Lupercalia goodies and I am in love! Shub is a sweet, rich, perfectly baked gingerbread house with vanilla creme frosting. I don't get the sharp notes of pure ginger until the dry down. Initially I get something much deeper, yet not at all subtle. There is almost a vervain top note that comes in and out after about 30 minutes, and then I really smell that sharp, pure ginger base note that stays for hours. This is a keeper and another scent I need a big bottle of.

Well, despite owning a decant of every blend from the snake pit, I still have never smelled pure snake oil! I do have a pretty good idea of its base notes of resin and spices, and I get that familiar SO whiff when I take a sniff from this bottle. On me, its as sweet as O but very faint, as Womb Furie lacks the golden tones of amber that amp on me when I wear O. The throw is not that great. Its one of those scents that stick close to your skin. This is a great scent for adding to lotion and layering. I will have to experiment with this one! Glad I got two 5mls...

I love this dark heavy scent. Upon first sniff I get benzoin gum, merlot, and bubbly goodness. Upon application I get rich opoponax and tobacco flower, with the benzoin still laying a thick base note. Within 10 minutes this scent dries down to a beautiful foody blend - must be the honey, sugar and plums - yum! This one has staying power and in the morning when I woke up I still smelled sweet like vanilla-tonka. The oakmoss stayed hidden the whole time and I don't mind! I need a big bottle of this baby.

This morpher starts out on me as a fragrant pineapple-coconut, and after 15 minutes changes into a gorgeous creamy champaca with a sweet vanilla base. Not much staying power, but its worth it. I need a full bottle because this one LOVES my skin!

In the bottle I smell rich musk- it smells very much like an Egyptian Musk. Wet on the skin I get a strong rich musky scent and sage. Very smokey, woody and resinous, like burnt sage branches. After it has been dry for about five minutes the currants come out, a somewhat muted berry struggling to reach the surface through the layers of musk. I get an almost soapy berry scent that lasted about 10 minutes- there is a quality that is almost numbing as I sniff my wrist but I just can't place it. 20 minutes later I smell a fruity resin- the currants mingling with frankincense! Yum, I am tucking this away for aging!

In the bottle this smells like sweet jelly bellies, on my skin it quickly goes to earthy mushrooms (portabella!) and then becomes a masculine cologne. It must be the mryhh and champa that I am getting throughout the dry down. Decent throw, this really turns into something lovely on my skin! edit: hours later my skin still emits a strong essence of musky glory! This has turned and stayed really resinous, and absolutely beautiful. No powder on me at either, thankfully. This one is a keeper, glad I got the set of 5mls.

In the bottle, mmm pure pears and a slightly resinous base note. On me: pears and amber- oh yes, the amber comes out strong after about 10 minutes of wear. An hour later I still get a strong warm fruity musk that lingers on and on. A must-slather fragrance. I absolutely love this sweet warm essence!

All Saints 2006. Thank you for breaking my bpal cherry! Yes, I was a virgin to the lab before I ordered 5mls of both Blood Phoenix and All Saints, and being an incense lover I examined this bottle first. Now this bottle had been opened for a smell by the previous owner, so when I held the bottle under my nose I could get a whiff of a very faint rosy cedar smell, similar to my Great-Auntie Borghild's sitting room. I opened the cap and took a light whiff, wow! A rich essence of roses and deep myrrh was my initial impression, and a deeper whiff gave way to amber resin, lilies and light honeysuckle. When wet on my skin I smelled very powerful verbena and sickly sweet roses, and after ten minutes the scent is very warm, yellow and Catholic. Not Catholic in a Pater Dei manner, but a universal transcendent Catholicism. A worship that knows Mary, the Black Virgin, the Lady of the Heavens, Diana, Erzulie, Rada, Yemaya, Isis, Oshun, and Inanna. The flowers and myrrh have become old offerings and the amber hardens and petrifies. 45 minutes later the scent is going strong but faded down to s whispering velvet of rose petals. Now I am dreaming of laying on a back porch daybed on a humid New Orleans evening. Lovely, but only for special occasions and night time use. I am glad I got this in a 5ml. Since this is my first sniff of bpal EVER, for now I am giving this one a 6/10. I will update later after my collection grows.
