  1. If still you think me mad, you will think so no longer when I describe the wise precautions I took for the concealment of the body. The night waned, and I worked hastily, but in silence. First of all I dismembered the corpse. I cut off the head and the arms and the legs.

    I then took up three planks from the flooring of the chamber, and deposited all between the scantlings. I then replaced the boards so cleverly, so cunningly, that no human eye — not even his — could have detected any thing wrong. There was nothing to wash out — no stain of any kind — no blood-spot whatever. I had been too wary for that. A tub had caught all — ha! ha!

    When I had made an end of these labors, it was four o’clock — still dark as midnight. As the bell sounded the hour, there came a knocking at the street door. I went down to open it with a light heart, — for what had I now to fear? There entered three men, who introduced themselves, with perfect suavity, as officers of the police. A shriek had been heard by a neighbour during the night; suspicion of foul play had been aroused; information had been lodged at the police office, and they (the officers) had been deputed to search the premises.

    Clean wood floors, a clean tub, clean, clean, clean, with no stain of any kind, no blood-spot whatsoever.

    Embalming Fluid, is that you? It's like you crossed Mr. Clean with Embalming Fluid. There's a slightly soapy drydown which just smells clean. Low throw and wear length.

  2. Orange blossom/citrus, touch of clove, and both patchouli and opoponax. It's got some very light top notes, but as you inhale deeper, you get the darker notes. There's a whiff of almost cedar-like smokiness to the patchouli and I think that the vetiver curling about.

    It's also the dawning realization that this is not the blend you may have expected. Yes, there's those light citrus notes but something darker lurks in the heart of it all. Medium throw and wear length.

  3. I smiled, — for what had I to fear? I bade the gentlemen welcome. The shriek, I said, was my own in a dream. The old man, I mentioned, was absent in the country. I took my visitors all over the house. I bade them search — search well. I led them, at length, to his chamber. I showed them his treasures, secure, undisturbed. In the enthusiasm of my confidence, I brought chairs into the room, and desired them here to rest from their fatigues, while I myself, in the wild audacity of my perfect triumph, placed my own seat upon the very spot beneath which reposed the corpse of the victim.

    A jubilant and deranged lime absinthe.

    The lime is particularly prominent on wet, and it reminds me to the limes you find in margarita mixes, and then you get the same absinthe note that you get in Pumpkin Spice Absinthe. This is a very lime Absinthe, and I LOVE IT. For all of you that love absinthe-based blends, gives this a whirl. It's like absinthe decided to go to Mexico and adopted limes as a component. Medium throw and wear length.

  4. I get mainly chypre on wet, and as it dries, the pumpkin spices develop. It ends up as a cologney-pumpkin spice. After about an hour, I get a slight musk undertone. I am definitely amping up the chypre end of the entire thing and my guess is that this blend will vary greatly depending on whether you amp up either the pumpkin spice or the chypre. Definitely one of the more interesting Halloween blends that the Lab has put out this year. Good throw and wear length.

  5. Grey amber and tobacco. If you love either, I can see why you would love this. It smells like old rich Victorian smoking jacket. It's very gorgeous.

    ... and I'm not sure I love it as much as I thought I would. I can see why others would go bananas, and its absolutely smashing, and yet....

    Love is a funny thing. Good throw and wear length.

  6. Aquatic with laudanum, which adds a very resinous note, and then you get the moss. This smells like dark, depressive seas. Resin lovers, if you were ever tempted by aquatics, give this a whirl. Aquatics, if you ever wanted to try a resin, I'd give this a whirl. It's an odd Venn diagram of both combined. Medium throw and wear length.

  7. Cinnamon, nutmeg, apple booze and a hint of vanilla cream. This smells like a rummy apple cider with a dollop of vanilla cream to hide the fact that you're drinking as you're being dragged through a cold evening to some Haunted Hay ride that you really didn't want to be in because goddamn there's a line, and you're waiting 90 minutes in the cold. Medium throw and wear length.

    Also, you're not bitter. Never.

  8. That whisper takes the voice
    Of a Spirit, speaking to me,
    Close, but invisible,
    And throws me under a spell
    At the kindling vision it brings;
    And for a moment I rejoice,
    And believe in transcendent things
    That would make of this muddy earth
    A spot for the splendid birth
    Of everlasting lives,
    Whereto no night arrives;
    And this gaunt gray gallery
    A tabernacle of worth
    On this drab-aired afternoon,
    When you can barely see
    Across its hazed lacune
    If opposite aught there be
    Of fleshed humanity
    Wherewith I may commune;
    Or if the voice so near
    Be a soul’s voice floating here.

    —Thomas Hardy

    Marbled white iris, white tobacco flower, Italian bergamot, white leather, and Mysore sandalwood.

    Iris and tobacco flower on wet, but it dries to a white sandalwood with touches of leather. So it goes from a very cold white floral blend to a sort of powdery white leather blend. Low throw but good wear length.

  9. Kelp, sea spray, and a touch of cypress. It's very salty aquatic, sort of ghostly, and sort of melancholic. It's a great aquatic - soft, very wearable, and gender neutral. Love the heavy kelp in it. Medium throw and wear length.

  10. This reminds me to a cross between honeysuckle and jasmine, with a bit of tropical aquaticness thrown in. It mainly codes as a type of jasmine flower to me, but as it dries down, I get more of the honeysuckle-like component and a bit more of the watery-ness comes out. Maybe hibiscus? If you're into either honeysuckle or jasmine, give this a whirl. Great throw and wear length.

  11. White icing skeletons, sour gummi worms, red licorice bloodstains, chocolate werewolf prints, and pretzel stick vampire stakes.

    I get gingerbread, white icing, a hint of chocolate and licorice. This really reminds me to a Yule Gingerbread scent. More candy in it than the typical Yule Gingerbread combination, but yeah, it smells like a mix between Halloween and Christmas. Medium throw and wear length.

  12. Cocoa over a base of Snake Oil, and a whiff of rice milk. It's the chocolate Snake Oil, and if SO is your jam, and you like chocolate, then obviously this is a good thing. SO is not my jam, and it smells like a very good chocolate still. Medium throw and wear length.

  13. 2016 version

    Yup, smells like CKOne to me. It's all white tea, gleaming metal and a whiff of gardenia. It's white, cool, florals with a flash of metal. I remember enjoying the 2008 version, having a partial, and never wearing it. Very gender neutral. Great throw and wear length.
