Gingerbread, Red Patchouli, Orange Peel, and Champaca Flower
zankoku_zen replied to suki's topic in Yules
Gingerbread, patchouli and a touch of orange zest. This one is a "dirtier" Gingerbread version. Grittier. Slightly more masculine. Good throw and wear length. -
Frankincense and roses. It's a warm, resinous blend with just a curl of roses. Medium throw and wear length. This reminds me to churches in the Winter time. So very apropos.
-
Candied lemons, lemon zest, a dash of manderine and orris. It's a very festive lemon blend. Good throw and wear length.
-
Beeswax, melty drippy chocolate, and brown leather. This one is foodie and leathery at the same time. Good throw and wear length.
-
Sweet slushy snow. This is the same snow note in Ice Queen. Actually, when I sort of squint, and at first sniff, I went "Ice Queen, is that you?". No berry notes in this one, just muskier and that sweet minty slushy snow note. Great throw and wear length.

Red musk, patchouli, carnations, and seduction! This smells heady, and gothic, and like seduction and temptation, and pain (but only because you asked!). Very sexy and atmospheric.
-
Cinnamon, tobacco, and a touch of pumpkin. It's equal parts tobacco and pumpkin, with a cinnamon top note to it. Average throw, but it makes everything smell so cozy!
-
Myrrh and labdanum, with a whiff of jasmine. The jasmine is the first note that hits your nose, and then it sort of dissipates a little warming up to a warm resinous base.. However, this is precisely the sort of jasmine that doesn't work for me. Good throw and wear length.

Gingerbrea, touch of pink pepper, but in general this is a vanilla heavy gingerbread scent. Great throw and wear length.

Totally foodie. This sort of smells like a smores cookie to me - a ton of marshmallow, chocolate, and something cookie like. Throw in some vanilla. I would have loved this as either an atmosphere or a bath oil. Scrumptious. Great throw and wear length.
-
Cherry blossoms and lilies in the snow. This one is light, fresh, and floral. Very Asian to my nose and would have been perfectly at home with the Shungas as well. Good throw and wear length. I would see this being very appropriate for a young girl.
-
Black tea, hay, and a hint of smoke. Low throw and wear length.
-
TON of gingerbread, smoky matcha and a whiff of mint on wet. But in general, chewy smoky gingerbread. Great throw and wear length.
-
Sweet aquatic florals. I'm pretty sure there is some violet in this. It's clean, sweet violets. Good throw and wear length.

I just got a decant, but it does not appear that the bottle was rolled prior to decanting. I get honey, tea, a touch of chocolate and leather. This is very honey and tea heavy. It's medium throw and low wear length. However, I wouldn't neessarily say that this decant is representative of the blend itself as it seems to be very light in color.
-
Woods, hay, and a touch of wispy amber. It's a warm, masculine blend on me. Medium throw and wear length.
-
Snow, lily and plum. I really amp up the lily in this, so it ends up a very clean lily smell, with just enough hints of plum and snow around the edges. Straight forward, great throw and wear length.
-
Linen, mint, resins, and a touch of pine. This one smells like baby powder sprinkled on top of the previous elements. Sort of how some old clothes smell after you've brought them up from storage. Low throw and wear length.
-
Patchouli and oudh. This one smells clean, masculine, and well, the overall impression I tend to get is of gleaming black leather - that doesn't smell like leather. But maybe a leather paddle? Yeah, that's probably more accurate. Medium throw and wear length.
-
Brown leather, blood orange and a touch of dusty amber. This one reminds me alot to a Future Primitive Soap lotion I'm wearing which is Rook and Raven. And I think tis the combination of brown leather + orange. More orange than I expected. Good throw and wear length. I would be curious to see this on a guy.
-
Weedy - it smells like dandelion sap and the sweet grass note, but with a touch of dust, an undercurrent of dryer sheets and linen. It's a sweet, grassy sort of linen. Fresh, clean, and it would make a fantastic room scent. Low throw and medium wear length.
-
Creamy vanilla, sandalwood, frankincense and a touch of musk. This one is a more perfumey sandalwood blend than I expected. Warmer and muskier as well. Medium throw and wear length. This one is a sophisticated sandalwood blend. Hmm, may consider more of this.

A Thousand Thoughts, and Hopes, and Joys

Vanilla, carnations, and freesia. This is sugary and pink. Great throw and wear length. Huh, I actually am not a freesia fan. Who knew. -
Thanks to the generous swapper for a tiny tester of this! At first note, I just get the eucalyptus, powdery iris, and blue musk and it sort of smells unpleasant. But then the blueberry blooms, the eucalyptus recedes, and I'm left with a blueberry and iris mix that is fruity and delicate. It gets slightly more perfumey as it dries, and I am assuming that it is the oudh. Top notch, and would definitely buy a bottle of this. ETA: Again, when first sprayed the combination of powdery iris and blue musk is unpleasant to me, to the point that I go OMG am I really putting this on my hair? And then I comb my fingers through my hair, and the blueberry pops up, so does a teensy bit of oudh, and the iris basically vanishes. It ends up a ghostly blueberry like smell and I love it. But yeah, the first 30 seconds makes me question my sanity.

Mrs. Driscoll, 11 Barrow street, keeps a third class house of assignation. Place mean and dirty. Patchouli, fig leaf, flue smoke, opium tar, and tobacco absolute. Oooh, so this one is patchouli, chewy tobacco and a touch of opium. It's dark, heavy, gritty patchouli and tobacco based hair gloss. Good throw and wear length.
