Oh lord, my skin just gobbled this one right up. I smelled currants, a hint of sage and that's it. Hmm. Pass.
-
Wet on skin, I get the pear and a tiny hint of fig leaf. But as it dries, it has burned off, and now all the heavier/woodier elements have come out - I smell amber, patchouli and mahogany. Ah, if only the pear had stuck around...

I can definitely see the pine and the deep, damp earth/dirt note from Graveyard Dirt and Noctisa. On wet however it had a highly menthol note to it, which made it smell like Vick's Vapo Rub. I definitely got more pine at that stage and now that it's close to the hour mark, it's more of a deep, dark earth dirt blend.
-
I definitely see the Catholic Mass incense, but it's more watery than that. I get a subtle hint of rose.
-
This one has a rose/slight rose geranium on a very dirty patchouli base. And by dirty I mean, dirty. On wet, it had a bit of a soapy, clean feel to it. But now it's gone dirty, as some patchoulis tend to do. I also think there is a resin there, and I'd throw my guess at frankincense. Erm... yeah, not my style. Ah, well.

A generous soul sent me a sniffie of this. SENK YO! What a morpher. So on wet, I get that menthol/smoky/cinnamon thing that everyone gets. It's like hot arid desert air. Perfect for it's namesake. As it dries, I get like the bitter zest of a grapefruit over hot sand. I think that's probably lemongrass that gives it that citrus jolt. And yes, hints of smoky wood in the background. I can see how the Ifrit is in the same vein as this blend, but Sekhmet's citrus/lemongrass + mint makes this better than Ifrit in my mind.

Agreed. I don't get any menthol from this, but I did get a bit of a citrus herbal blast at the beginning (probably lemon verbena), and it's got the same berry quality as Host of Air mixed with the green grass and wildflower greenness of Garden Path with Chickens. I don't really get spicy/hint of vetiver here, but that might be my skin chemistry. Pretty, and if ever released I might pick up more as I am fond of both the Host of Air and Garden Path with Chickens.

This makes me think of Pink Phoenix and the Floating Brain having a baby. Cuz it's got that strawberry cake scent that I get from Closet/Floating Brain and Beaver'versary (except with Beaver it went to plastic). And the sweet sugar/cotton candy from Pink Phoenix. Mmm. Tasty. Ultimately perhaps too sweet for me, but a sweet treat nonetheless.

I agree with the comment of this smelling like dog fur. I get alot of the wood and smoke, and definitely smells like wet dog fur. Pass.

I definitely think this might have some violet, which has a tendency to go powdery on me. I get blonde woods from this and a hint of tea underneath the floral powdery veneer. Not unpleasant on me, but not really likeable per se.

This definitely has jasmine in it, because it's got a bit of a cat pee quality to it. It's a bright bouquet of flowers - I'm guessing, jasmine, a touch of rose, honeysuckle, hyacinth and perhaps daffodil and lily in it. It's grassy, green flowers with a hint of aquatic. The jasmine give its that cat pee overlay that I don't enjoy, but I think I smell a honeysuckle/hyacinth combo the most.

Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self-Similarity v1

cheshirecat's CT #6, previously reviewed by fairnymph Erm, I agree with the walnut and sugary vanilla tea, especially on wet. But as it dries, there's a pale yellow-white blossom that comes out on my skin, lending a floral freshness to the blend. cheshirecats CT #11, previously reviewed by fairnymph Definitely wisteria, and it dominates the Dorian base, although hints of sugary vanilla tea make an appearance here and there. On wet, there is a strong lemony/citrus that isn't lemon, and might very well be yuzu but I can't tell distinctively. But yeah this is basically WISTERIA + Dorian. -
Ah... Mars. You definitely have dragon's blood resin since that is all I can smell the spicy sweetness. And yet, you must also have some musk as you remind me to the Dragon's Musk I tried recently. And yes, perhaps a touch of cinnamon? Alas, you are too much like the Ars Draconis blends to sway the heart and skin chemistry of someone like me.

I really get the lemon in this at the beginning. But overall, it's a watery rose blend. Like a rose dunked in cool spring water. I'm not a huge rose fan, so I think I'll pass this along.

Oh, Dr. Jekyll. There's a very sophisticated, almost cerebral vibe to you. It's the gentleman's cologne punctuated with dust, cumin and a hint of gin. Enough to let me know that despite that raised eyebrow and cold look, there is a man that isn't quite right in the head. The cumin adds a bit of musty earthiness into what otherwise would be cool, fresh greenery cologne. You're a bit odd, but then again, I figured as much.

Musky sweet dragon's blood.... It actually kinda smells like a plastic Barbie doll, but more masculine. Perhaps a Ken doll?
-
Agreed on this! I very much got the anise and the woods on the beginning, but now it's just a very close to the skin smelling sort of thing. It's got this sweet dark incense thing going on, but you have to stand there and huff. Very unexpected.

Oh lord, this smells like a carny! Seriously... this has to be the best small town encapsulate of a carnival ever. I definitely get the corn booze (it actually smells more like beer) and then the explosion of sweetness from cotton candy and the marshmallow + smokiness (probably from the tobacco) and something slightly waxy. To my husband the waxiness makes this smell like a candle. To me, it lends a certain 'incensey'/'burning' vibe to it. Erm... yeah. Woo for summer small town carnivals?

This sums up Eanach for me. Wet....it smells like a spicy aquatic..with a hint of frankincense. Dry this smells like a man that may have just washed himself in the fresh waters of the Eanach....delicious...but I have my Water Phoenix to suit my aquatics needs. Triple agreed! It smells like a manly aquatic cologne. Manly in that this is a guy, a la Hugh Jackman, that has gone for a swim in a cool loch, and now smells fantastic.

Woof. This is rosey lilies and a hint of dirt. The lilies give the rose this soapy edge and it ends up smelling like an amped up Penny Dreadful on me.
-
Oh god, the civet + rose combination is not working for me. The civet smells like cat pee, esp. on wet and as it dries I get more of the rose, but because of the patchouli it smells like a dirty, peed upon rose. UGH.
-
This one definitely had a strong sage and incense vibe to it on wet. As it has dried, the sage has gone away and I get more of a musty, white floral + spice cabinet. I definitely think it has ginger. This one smells medicinal, slightly floral, slightly spicy. I can definitely see this one having a purpose.
-
Spicy dragon's blood. Meh.

This one is a nice, sweet masculine blend. Sexy, dusty, older English gentleman type. Off to slather on mr. zeezee! ETA: The prototype of this strikes me as slightly grittier and smokier. Definitely some smoke (vetiver?), frankincense, and I'm thinking green musk.

This really is like Dark Chocolate Cherry meets Midnight Kiss. Or for me, it's more like Dark Chocolate Cherry + Plunder. The cocoa is nice and dusty, and you can smell the spices like in Plunder. Very tasty, but I think the cherry is a bit too much for me!
