    Smoky Moon 2012

Smoky, incensey blend with a splash of citrus. It dries down to a dirty, smoky amber and sandalwood blend. Dark, smoky, dirty.

    Hedonism

I get ylang yland and myrrh, the patchouli is a softer, and there's a whiff of citrus, esp. at the beginning. Summery, floral.

    Tanuki No Yudachi

On wet, I get a hit of grapefruit and rice wine, with muted lilies. As it dries, it's definitely a lily blend - but much more delicate and ethereal, with a hint of vanilla. This is a delicate, feminine blend. It is evocatively Asian, and it reminds me to some of the more ethereal Asian Salons like Spirit of the Komachi Tree. Very lovely.

    Jibiki Danuki

Oakmoss and black musk. This one smells kinda salty, kinda earthy, kinda musky. Slightly masculine. It's subtle, earthy and smooth.

    Katharina v7

White musk, neroli and just a hint of apricot. This one is a lighter, more girly incarnation. The apricot in the released version gives it a certain fruity robustness. The prototype is more ethereal in feel. I definitely amp up the neroli/orange blossom, which means it goes a teensy bit soapy. Soft, shimmering, ethereal.

    Goblin Cider

So, this one caught me off guard. To me, it has a dark, planty banana smell especially on wet, and as it dries I get more apple booziness like in Autumn Cider, but its more mellow like apple MASH cider from Lamb's Wool. Throughout all this ginger is MIA. On the other hand, it totally has that fall/autumn apple thing going on. And if you have a hankering for that and it's not autumn, there's GC equivalent ready to fulfill those needs.

    Frederic

2012 version Heavier on the bay rum, chypre and amber musk. The chypre and a hint of roses is sniffed on wet, but as it dries its a woody, musky, bay rum sort of blend. In fact, it's quite masculine and sexy. Mmmm, I like this pirate.

    APDAY3

APDAY3 is probably the Amanda Palmer "Daylilies at the Bottom of the Stairs" prototype. It starts out with a big lily blend, and dries down to a stemmy, almost gone, floral note. If there is WOOD in this, I definitely can't smell it. If you like lilies, give this a whirl.

    AP77

AP77 is definitely an Amanda Palmer prototype, and I'm torn between the Bathroom Incident and Occurance at the Diner, but definitely leaning toward Bathroom Incident on the drydown. On wet, it's a clean floral smell, but as it dries I think I smell something almost 'tile/porcelain' like, and something warm like clay underneath the still 'clean' overlay. It might be OatD, but it seems lack a 'green' freshness to it. I am enjoying the CLAY note in this though.

    Winter Wind Atmosphere Spray

Loads of pine, mint and a hint of holly. Totally smells like Christmas, snow and cool. Which is perfect on those ultra hot summer days to trick yourself into feeling cooler.

    Sleep

Heavy lavender and geranium, hints of tobacco. Heady, somnolent, lavender. This is the lavender blend that forces you to sleep. TKO cuddles you into blissful oblivion, Sleep just lavenders you to close your eyes.

    Absinthe and Lace

Strong licorice/anise note, hints of herbalness, tobacco and sugar. If you love absinthe and absinthe-notes, give this a whirl!

    Passion Butterfly

Giant blast of citrus, which then becomes mandarin, with creamy amber and copal, and a bit of petitgrain coming through with some herbal freshness. Sadly, I don't think the petitgrain is working for me.

    Two-Barred Flasher

Flowery blueberry, hint of bergamot and iris. On wet, there's an almost sharp cologne edge to it, but it dries to a slightly softer, kinda powdery blend. Sweet, and a little sad. It's not the type of blend that I'm usually attracted to, but I find it oddly compelling. I might have mr. zee_zee throw the deciding vote on this one, because I can't stop sniffing my own wrist. It isn't instant love... but I'm not sure that I wouldn't mind having a bottle. Ah, decisions, decisions.

    White Peacock

Sharp woods, patchouli and sandalwood. I get whiffs of vanilla and tonka here and there... but not enough to sweeten the blend for me. It has a very Asian vibe to it, in my mind. Not my type of blend.

    Strawberry Moon 2012

OMG - this may be the strawberry blend for me. BPAL's strawberry note tends to go plastic on my skin. Not this blend. It smells like strawberries, hint of vanilla and honey, with a whiff of green. Not too sweet, and just ripe and summery. HOT DAMN.

    Ruddy Daggerwing

Chocolate oranges indeed. At the beginning, it's bitter coffee, dark chocolate and a giant orange citrus blast. I think the orange is also having a side affair with ebony, because there's a woodsy undertone to this. Fun, but not for me. I amp up the wood note in this, so it ends up more woody than foodie.

    Nightmare

OOOOOOOOOOOOH. I have to say I find this very evocative. Hint of dark lavender, black currant, orchid and some oakmoss and myrrh. It's a dark, seductive, blend. This SLITHERS on your skin. I quite, quite like this. I think I need a bottle.

    Dawn: Mourning Victory

JASMINE attack! Hints of tuberose and hyacinth. It's like being mugged by Jasmine. PASS.

    Tanuki No Senkimochi

Anise, woods and a hint of smoke. Oddly, very comforting, slightly masculine and kinda cuddly. Very cozy.

    Tanuki No Amiuchi

This smells... dirty. It's patchouli, cumin, vetiver and a hint of sandalwood. With dirt, rubbed all over. PASS.

    Tanuki No Kanban

Sweet almond musk with a hint of cinnamon. This is a soft, comforting, skin scent. If nuts did comforting. Don't read too much into the last sentence. Just accept the comfort.

    The Orchard

Light plum, roses, hint of tulip and a swirl of chocolate. This is a fruity floral, delicate, light. I am considering a partial.
  24. Chocolate with a hint of pepper and tomato. It's oddly foodie, and not that sweet. It's an herbal sort of chocolate and puts me in mind to some of the older 13 out there.
  25. Chocolate, coconut bark, hint of marshmallow. This one is pretty tasty for a chocolate blend - if you like coconut and marshmallow that is.
