Mechanical Dragon Manufactory Atmosphere Spray
zankoku_zen replied to ReallyZeb's topic in Atmosphere
Gears, leather, incensey resins. This definitely smells steampunkish! And masculine! Warm spicy dragon's blood resin softens this metallic/leather like resin and I find it to be very evocative. This is the smell of a Victorian engineer's workshop. He's smart, dedicated, eloquent and not afraid of a little adventure in a dirigible. Whats not to love? -
Pyriphlegethonian Pomegranate Atmosphere Spray
zankoku_zen replied to Mellifluous's topic in Atmosphere
This is dark tobacco and a bright pom note. I agree with hlinspjalda alot in the sense that it does a very Red Lantern vibe, whereas I found the caramel in Red Lantern to be overly sweet and overwhelming, I find the pom/dark fruit note in Pyriphlegethonian Pomegranate to balance the tobacco/patchouli notes without taking over. Essentially, this is smoky pom. And what Persephone would spray about in the Underworld to make it smell like a home. You don't forget its the Underworld, but its dark, cozy and beguiling pomegranates that lure you in for a spell. -
Roses, almonds, and a hint of snow. It's pink, sweet and slightly foodie despite the rose.
-
Cloves, cinnamon, and dark ale. It's Christmassy, comforting, and festive.
-
Dark lavender, currant and a hint of amber. It's darkly fruity/lavender amber. Nice, but not for me.

Okay, so I am a little disconcerted about this blend, but not because of what other people think of. This to me has a bitter watermelon top note to it on wet and in the viable- which adds a fruity aquatic quality, and then you smell the dense egg-based paint note, followed by talcum, moss, and dirt-dust note you get from an old and in the process of being demolished house. It's almost a plaster-dust note. As it dries, its more of the egg based paint, with again the plaster-dust, and the moss keeping the aquatic element. Throughout it all, it's all very WHITE. It's a white dust blend. And weird. I mean, do you really want to inhale the plaster-dust of an old, decrepit and possibly haunted house? It's like ghost cocaine. I'm pretty sure it just causes, well, demonic/poltergeist possession. So kids, now you know. This is your friendly Clive Barker/BPAL PSA. Don't snort the dust in an old *haunted* house, or you open yourself to otherworldly possession. Don't say you weren't warned. ETA: Edited for clarification purposes. I'm sure old dust, is well, just gross and you don't want to snort that either.

Question, anyone have a picture of the Lantern Ghost of Oiwa label? I vaguely recall it, and was just wondering about the colors. I just got a bottle from 2008 via a swap and am wondering if the label has faded a bit.

Gorgeous, but superlight. I get mainly vanilla with a hint of tea. This would take a great deal to scent a whole bath, but the scent sticks close to the skin, and the vanilla would probably layer beautifully with whatever lotion and/or perfume you chose to wear next.
-
Red musk, roses, and Snake Oil? In general neither of the three typically work for me, but this bath oil is soft, sexy, and distinctive. Now I understand what the fuss was all about during that first release.
-
Jesus, this is beautiful. This is sweet red apples with a touch of woodiness that keeps it from being overly sweet. This is just mellow apples in autumn. MUST HAVE MORE.
-
Snow Angel definitely smells like sweet lemonade with a few floral notes. As a scent, it reminds me more to Lemon Scented Sticky Bat than its name sake. Big throw, and strong potency. Thankfully, its light, if not, I'd find it overwhelming.
-
Tea, tobacco, and a hint of sugar. This is smoky green tea, but with this sugary dark sweetness that balances it all out. I really enjoy this, and I don't know why. It's dark, sweet, and incredibly interesting.

Badgers, is this you? I have to say that minus the leather note in Badgers, this is very Badgers-esque. I get patchouli, soft honey, and cacao and amber. It's a dark, heady, sophisticated blend with just enough sweetness and foodiness to counteract the patchouli. I already have Badgers as a perfume oil, but if you ever wanted to bathe in it, here's something that smells REALLY similar.

Very much like the perfume oil, Boo is straight up sugary vanilla cream on my skin. I get a slight cotton note, which I believe I amped up in the perfume oil - so the bath oil works much better for me. Sadly, my skin really eats this up, and after a while, I really can't smell anything at all. Which is nice, if you didn't want to have clashing scents, but if you wanted to layer it, it's a little tricky.

The Miskatonic Valley Yuletide Faire Atmosphere Spray
zankoku_zen replied to stellamaris's topic in Atmosphere
Strong sweet foodie with a creepy edge. I get hints of baked goods, oaks, leaves, incense. And blood. Definitely blood. This is the smell of a pastry in autumn that bites back. Literally. -
Oh god, this smells AMAZING. Like super amazing. I get apple struedel, hot cocoa, and hints of almond and coffee. Actually, this smells alot like a german bakery a few miles from where I live. Jeebus, this smells like a pastry shop. That specializes in apple struedels.

Oh man, so Snow Bunny isn't a perfume I wear, but it smells fantastic as an atmo. Cold, chilly piney snow with hints of girlie white floral. On the drydown you definitely get a whiff of white sugar. Clean, snowy, sugary white florals.

Abundance most strongly smells like cassia, cinnamon, bayberry and moss. It smells like a money/fortune blend, but beyond a "quick cash" sort of blend it feels like a scent that beckons for more - better fortunes, better health, better harmony. Just more of what life's bounty has to offer. I busted this out because after a few years of feeling less, I am ready for more. But to get more, you have to be open to it. I'll revisit this review with effects, as I don't expect anything that smells like this to be immediate.

CCXXVII (227) Bitter almond, vanilla, and hint of honey. This one is definitely an almond/honey blend with whiffs of vanilla, and something else on my skin. I'm not a fan of either almond or honey, but this is a soft, skin musk blend. Previously reviewed by edensxithday

This actually smells like rue, wormwood and woods. Delicate, sweet, and the wood becomes much more pronounced. In some ways, its a kissing cousin to Absinthe (less lemony/mint/anise), but the wormwood definitely can be smelled in both.
-
An intoxicating blend containing wormwood essence, light mints, cardamom, anise, hyssop, and the barest hint of lemon. This does smell like the Absinthe blend. I get mint, lemon, and anise mostly. It definitely gives off a very 'green' vibe. This one has gotten mixed reviews. I enjoy the scent, but mr. zee_zee does not care for it

The Twilight Where Virtues Are Vices Candle
zankoku_zen replied to thekittenkat's topic in Illumination
Jasmine, honeysuckle and just a hint of opium smoke. This is rich, redolent jasmine. Sadly, that translates to mr. zee_zee as cat pee, and he does not approve of this blend. Off to a better home you go! -
Sweet white peach, apricot, honey and a hint of sandalwood. This one is a richer, peachier blend than say Sugared Peaches. It's less sweet than Sugared Peaches, and has more dimensions. And despite that, it's still too sweet for me. As for texture, just like the other bath oils, it's silky and moisturizing.
-
This is definitely Midway. I get sugary sweetness, with a hint of baked goods. No wood. It smells sort of similar to Gooey Pillowcase with all that sugary sweetness, but with a distinctive 'baked' note to it. Too sweet for us.
-
Sweet amber and dirty patchouli. It's not as sweet as Silkybat HG, and the amber component gives it a different dimension. Pretty, amber, patchouli.
