I'm not a huge fan of this one with my chemistry. In the bottle it's very nice, spicey with licorice, orange and what I presume is vetiver. On wet it's the same yummy smell, but it dries down to straight cinnamon/clove. (And not in a good way either...)

I've really fallen in love with this one, I may need a big bottle. In the imp, I get cedar and cigar, on wet I'm getting still cedar/cigar but also some yummy soft vanilla. After it's dry and hours later it's soft vanilla, with cedar and cigar equally as prominant.

Thanks guys, more to add to my list! I think my problem with most of the vanilla's I've tried so far is my chemistry makes the vanilla take a giant step back almost into oblivion. Does anyone know what Egg Nog Latte smells like? I love eggnog and nutmeg and cream, I'm thinking if this one has no rum or anything to muck it up, it may be delicious smelling! I can't find the reviews of it, only the other Egg Nog.

Tempest, thanks for that info, good to know. Parrot suspect, I haven't tried Alice, but it sounds good I will put it on my list of vanillas to try. Beachbabealways, I have recently tried Tombstone and yes, I do love it. It smells more like cigar to me, with cedar and a little vanilla. These notes are what I love, slightly masculine, but I am looking for a less masculine smell to wear to work, one that most people will like. There are too many to choose from!! Well, I am getting to know more of what I like and what smells good on me, and what I can't stand to wear.

That's what I'm afraid of. Oh well, I'll try that one first then all the others too.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I thought I had tried Antique Lace (and I do like sandle wood) but now see that I haven't so I will try A.L. And Mouse's. Morroco was just way too subtle for me, but it is nice. I like heavy scents.

I was going to get 2 bottles and 1 imp, I'm really struggling financially right now (See "How are you feeling" thread...) and with all the imps on the forum being cheap, I thought I shouldn't get more than 1 imp from the lab. Maybe I'll go through the for sale area and find some that you suggested. That's funny about the toothpaste, I figured it had something to do with sassafras. Mouse's sounds too faint, I always need a lot of oil. Dorian reviewers say lemon and lavender, so I'm sure that's what I'll smell. Thanks for answering me.

Thanks so much for the help, and thanks for putting the descriptions, too. I am printing this out for future reference, maybe I will find some decants to buy. I've had my eye on Inez, and Hod sures sounds fabulous! I tried Stimulating Sassafras and smelled no vanilla, it dried down to smelling like toothpaste on me. Weird. Do you think Dorian is more vanilla-ish than O or Mouse's Long and Sad Tale? I get so confused reading the reviews because of course it is different on everyone.

I know this thread has millions of recommendations, but I have a question. I want to order an imp with my order I will place today or tomorrow, and really want to find the PERFECT vanilla! (Doesn't everyone...) I want a very heavy smooth creamy vanilla, maybe a little spice (carnation would be perfect) with NO fruity or very little floral in it. It could have a tad of cinnamon, or amber or incense, as long as the vanilla is very dominant. All the ones I have tried are not vanilla enough for me. I usually smell citrus, or it's all so faint I can barely smell. Guess this is what they call my skin's chemistry. Okay, well I'm ordering Snake Oil, and I have an aged imp, but honestly I don't smell vanilla. I have tried Morroco, Black Opal, Tombstone, and was thinking of trying O, Mouse's Long and Sad Tale, or can't think of what else. I do want to order from the lab, so does anyone have any recs?

It's funny how these oils can start off as one thing, turn into another then end up completely different!! I got this as a frimp from the lab and it sounds right up my alley. (Do they check wishlists?) Very honey to start, whcih I love, on it then has some ylang ylang, fig, and some clove. Yum so far. Later I can smell patchouli, very faint, along with clove and fig. Yes! Love it. Oh wait, an hour later, it smells like roses on me! What, roses?? Ugh, my skin hates roses...Boo...

I loved Event Horizon because I used to love Opium perfume! This smells just like it, which I love and then later on me it softens and a little smokey scent is showing up.
-
This was a pleasant surprise for me. In the imp I smelled ylang ylang first, then almond, vanilla, a little spice. On wet it was more almond/cherry almond, ylang and even a faint sweet tobacco smell. Dried down into a soft ylang ylang with soemthing else that I presume would be the myrrh. Very nice.

I was really looking forward to testing this one because I had read it was very similar to my fav "regular" perfume, Coco Chanel. So it starts out so nice in the imp, spicey, honey. On wet it is honey and incense, and soft spices. A little later the lemon comes out that everyone talks about but then...ugh ROSES. Rose scents do not work for me, they smell very strong and old ladyish. So so sad...

I've also got an aged imp of this! It's very heavy smooth, musky vanilla. I don't know what Narcissus smells like, but it must be the slight floral sweetness I am smelling. I don't get any orange blossum. I like this one alot!
-
Ooh, I wish this were much heavier! It's such a pretty creamy vanilla musk, but very light on me. I love heavier spicier scents, but his will be good for those days I want to barely smell myself. On drying I can smell a tad of sandlewood, or incense. Pretty!

I really liked this one, I gave it a 3.5 out of 5. In the imp I smell cherry almond, a dirt smell and sweet leather. On wet, I can now smell some rum, but also the almond and leather and a cedar like smell. Later on it is faint with a spicey smell of cloves.
-
I also love this one! It's sweet musk, amber, incense, cigar, yummy. Still smells great hours later, softer. I wear this one alot and may get a big one of it! ETA: I realized why I like this one so much. The other day I put it on and thought of my mother who passed away 8 years ago. Then I read a post about how Haunted smells like Shalimar. Bingo! This smells like my mother! She smoked and used to wear Shalimar, as did my Grndmother. Very interesting.

I had such high hopes for this, I love Absinthe and the smell of anise. In the imp I got a little boozy smell, a little anise and some sweet lemon. Once I put it on though, all I could smell was a sweet lemon lime smell, like 7-up. Real sweet concentrated 7-up. Kinda nice for a summer day but not what I hoped for!

In the imp, this first reminded me of a men's cologne, with some vanilla poking through. When I put it on, all I smelled was vanilla, a soft powdery vanilla. This is very faint on me, but it's very nice even hours later.

Back in the 80's I used to go to the London Dungeon, and this smells just like it. Except it has coconut. Dirt and mold and coconut. I do like it, I can imagine some people wouldn't, but I am definitely liking it. Does remind me though of London.

Also try Western Diamondback, Hellfire and Fire of Love. All very masculine.

I've been testing my imps using toothpicks, one side, then if I want to apply more I turn the pick over and use the other side. Then I put the toothpick in a drawer to smell it up a bit!

This one I wish smelled more like Champagne on me because I love love love Champagne!! This was the very first Bpal I sniffed. In the imp it smelled sweet and tart, a teeny bit of Champagne, a little spicey and something floral like Frangipani. On, it became softer, more sweet strawberry and rose. Later on it still smelled very sweet but more like a creamy strawberry sweetness. Yummy! P.S.-I put this on a week later and TOTALLY smelled the Champagne! It's weird how these oils smell different all the time.

Ooh, I really love the smell of this! Very comforting, smells like grandpa's library. It's musky, and floral, very soft, cedar when I first put it on, then it settles down to cedar and sweet cigar. It's very nice, I didn't think I liked it as much but I keep putting it on. Wish I had a big library with a fire going in the fireplace and a good book to read! I would probably buy more of this one. ETA:This review is based on an aged imp of Fire Of Love. I have recently acquired a fresh imp and it is much less smooth and the patchouli really comes forward. I look forward to this one againg.

This starts out really promising for me. In the imp it's sweet and floral, like jasmine, with some spice. I put it on and I'm liking it. It's spicey and floral, jasmine and now I'm smelling rose pretty strong (which I'm finding I don't like much). Later on it's smelling very faint and really soapy on me. Not good for my skin...
