In the bottle: A few florals, but lots of herbs, a touch masculine. Wet: The benzoin and musks have come forward, and this has sweetened up, but not in a foodie way. The dry-down: Very herbal, a bit grassy, not very lemony, thank goodness. One of those scents that is very well-blended that makes it difficult to pick out notes. Certainly a morpher. A nice, fresh, and refreshing scent for spring, perfect for anyone.

Thanks for the picture! And what about the other Lupers? I would love to see pics of them, because I only ordered a couple.

In the bottle: The leather is the chemical note, alas. Wet: Ah, that's better! The leather calms down. Although it's not listed, I'm getting a hint of a nice pipe tobacco note. The dry-down: There's the lovely pine pitch and oakmoss, with copal to sweet it. A tiny bit of my beloved patch, but it nor the clove are trying to take over. This is a bit like snuggling into the bf's brown leather jacket after he's worn Raven Moon or Jersey Devil. I like this morpher of a scent, and am considering a bottle (I have only a partial) for the bf.

In the bottle:Mostly sage tempered by the musk. Wet: Citrus, perhaps lemon, but not overwhelmingly so, thank goodness. The dry-down: Oh, dear, I spoke too soon--lots and lots of lemon. It's drowned all the other notes, alas. I was afraid of this coming in, but I always like to try partials of the Bards from my wonderful decanter.

In the bottle: Salty ozone, with a hint of moss. Wet: The moss is much more apparent now. The dry-down: Hints of honeysuckle and ivy come through. Alas, this is all-too-fleeting indeed, but a lovely skin scent whilst it tarries. A morpher, yes, much like loving.

In the bottle: Apple blossom, but dandelion lurks to keep it from being too sweetish. Wet: Light and pretty, but the opium is just waiting to take over. The dry-down: The flowers and plants have combined into one lovely light springtime blend, only slighted marred by the opium, which almost has a frankincense feel to it. Of course, the opium note may be there to warn us that the Sidhe are perhaps not as lovely inside as they may appear outside. Lovely, but not sure if I need more than the half-bottle.

This is too good a topic for no replies in ages. I think that a good way to represent each month in BPAL would be to wear the lunacy or lunacies for that particular month.

Just read through this thread again, and made some notes for GCs to try. I'll second the recs of Lines/Hills, Skadi, Ice Queen, Archangel Winter, Nuclear Winter, Evening Cicadas and Red Peppers, and The Waltz of the Snowflakes for icy scents that have a little hints of other notes, mostly woods, about them. To these I'll add The Country of Eternal Light (cold ozone), Nuclear Winter (frosty ground w/ some mint and water), Black Ice (frozen pavement), and Countess Dolingen of Gratz (one of the the Literary Vampires from '09) that is mostly cold ozone, but hints of other notes to balance.

I know that we are a long way away from autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, but folks in the Southern Hemisphere are heading into that lovely season. And I'm an autumn gal anyhow. At any rate, I've read through the entire thread, and have made note of some GCs to try. I'll check my imp collection first, though. Alas, Jack doesn't work on me--it's rancid loud butter, and one of the few scents that I have ever had to wash off STAT! My seasonal faves are Falling Leaf Moon (which I sometimes layer with Milk Chocolate Buttercream to sweet it up a tad), Samhain, Fearful Pleasure (love the apples), Lambs-wool '09 (more apples), Nothing Gold Can Stay (a warm scent on those rainy autumn days), Sonnet D'Atumno (for when the frosty nights start), L'Autunno Bath Oil (I use it like a perfume oil, as I like the scent of the bath oil better than the perfume oil, which is lovely itself), and Horse Chestnut Honey (which smells just like standing in a forest of chestnut trees in the autumn).

Some scents I like for spring (I like these because of spring florals, light sweetness, light honey notes, fruit notes that are summer-time, tea notes, outdoors scents, basically a light feeling, that sort of thing): Dublin (really only for St. Patrick's Day) Glasgow Eanach Dhuin Graveyard Dirt Agage Fairy Wine The Unicorn Lady Una Empyreal Mist White Chocolate and Strawberry The Fairy Market Strawberry Moon (any year and protos) The East The Host of the Air Yvaine The Phoenix in Spring Dorian Vinland Eat Me Teatime in Roswell Poisson d'Avril Graveyard Dirt Alice Needlework Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Bat The Mouse's Long and Short Tale Beltane Embalming Fluid These are all spring scents to me, and since spring has really come on strong here on the East Coast, I plan on these through at least May. More spring scent suggestions would be lovely, though.

The dry-down: The nasty orris is just messing this up for me. Not sure where the patch wandered off to. The tonka's trying to bring back some sweetness, but the two florals are large and in charge. In the decant: A pink rose and the agarwood. Wet: Mostly the agarwood, with whiffs of the pink rose. The dry-down: The rose, and it's still a pink rose on me, is trying to break through the agarwood's resins, but not really succeeding. This is interesting, because I usually amp rose. Later: Slowly, this has come together as a rose oude scent, but it's not a dark rich or red rose, but a lighter rose, like a pink rose (not a tea rose, though). It's nice now, but takes a while to get there. A decant is plenty.

In the decant: The hay note tempered by the ambergris and perhaps the catnip. Wet: The osmanthus may be coming into play. The dry-down: And now the catnip has moved into the foreground. Still not sure to think of this. Might have liked it better as a room spray. I wanted to try this because of a possible comparison to Hay Moon and the 13 from June '07 (just the catnip note). It is interesting, but don't think that I would wear it that often, so the decant should be more than enough.

In the decant: Something green and sharp, probably the tea, leaf, and wood. Wet: All those green notes, but the other notes are trying to break through. The dry-down: No luck with the other notes. I was so hoping for a good plum musk/patch/ambergris scent, and didn't get any of those notes. Just a lot of green notes that are sharp and yet dank at the same time. The matcha tea note has ruined other scents for me, but I suspect it had lots of help from the violet leaf. Disappointing. The scent may reflect the greenness of the cemetery where his mistress is buried. ETA: for grammar and spelling only. The dry-down never changes.

In the decant: Like caramel, only not so sweet, and deeper, darker, richer. Wet: Now the coconut and ambergris show up. Very sensual indeed. The dry-down: This is amazing from beginning to end, so to speak. I love the richness of this. Also, it's nice that it's not too much of a morpher. If you like other scents with coconut, and don't mind them being somewhat sweet and foodie, then this would be a great scent. Bottle worthy.

In the decant: Some of the citrus notes and a touch of the quince and the peony. Wet: Something sharp is coming out, probably the mum and narcissus. The dry-down: The fruits are slowly coming back, but the mum and narcissus may be too strong.

In the decant: Some amber, some frank, some rose. Wet: More amber than anything else, but a hint of green sharpness from the galbanum. The dry-down: Sadly, the galbanum and immortelle are trying to take over in the drying process. There's still a hint of the rose and the frank, but not much. I was hoping that this would be a spicy version of Rose Red, or a different version of Red Rose (with the musk and amber ringing the changes). Still interesting, but more lovely in the decant.

This is for the 2012 version. In the bottle: Honey and Snake Oil. Wet: Now more Snake Oil than honey, but still a lot of sweetness from the honey. The dry-down: Yeah, Snake Oil sweetened by those honeys. Very yummy!

This is for the 2012 version. In the decant: Musk, sugar, and lots of booze. Wet: Much as in the decant. The dry-down: Mostly booze now and a hint of grape. Once again, I keep trying this each year, and I wish that it would excite me.

In the decant: Violets and spices. Wet: Still spicy violets, with a fresh aquatic feel. The dry-down: The pretty violets have been overwhelmed by lavender, rosemary, and some citrus notes. Yet another scent locket. I was so hopeful about the violets.

In the decant:White florals, but not too sharp nor too sweet. Wet: A little high-pitched, but that's to be expected with white florals. The dry-down: Very well-blended white florals, slightly tempered by the sandalwood and the bergamot.

In the decant: The icy snow note and some cherry blossom and peach musk. Lovely! Wet: Boom! There's the tuberose, alas. The dry-down: The cherry blossom is trying to battle its' way back through the tuberose. The peach musk is trying to assist. The icy snow note melted away. This is for the scent locket. Would have been amazing without the harsh tuberose.
