Holy melon! I love this when it's wet/ in the vial Of course the vanilla goes weird on my skin though. I might have to try it using that trick of putting almond oil on my skin first. bummer. I really wish it didn't change. At first it's sweet, juicy melon. Then my skin makes it weird vanilla. I guess the lab knew what they were doing when they sent me lump of coal as it is one of the few without vanilla in it.
  2. I totally agree. Lump of Coal is dead on chocolate brownie. I think someone already mentioned 13. ETA: i love b&bw pure simplicity cocoa stuff.

    Athens

OMG! At first sniff I am in love. It is heavy sticky fresh honey. mmmm I love myrrh. and yeah, alcohol. There's a hint of dark spice as well. There is another note that I can't place, but it is a bit weedy, like dandelions or something. ETA: This really has staying power. Now it smells like I've been rolling around in a field of alyssum. ETA: I can still smell this! It's been over twelve hours. Usually I have the problem of scents fading on me. ETA: It's been more than 24 hours and I can still faintly smell it if I sniff my arm up close. I've never had one last this long.

From this I get rose and other unspecific florals. It gets a wee bit powdery on me. These are cool flowers. The jasmine doesn't take over as harshly as it usually does, but it still makes it a bit unpleasant with my skin.

    Oneiroi

Hmm this one is dry and herbal. It is lavender at first with a bit of something darker, then it goes kind of powdery and soapy. I blame the jasmine. The jasmine is taking over and I can't really get past it.

I'm really surprised that the roses didn't take over. In fact I hardly smell them at all. At first it is mostly the wine. After it dries I get a barely there trace of the leather and very soft musk. There is a tiny little bit of floral, but it isn't rose. It isn't very strong at all. I can't decide how I feel about this one.

    Salomé

At first it was spice with a hint of musk. Now its SANDALWOOD. I wish it didn't change so much on my skin. The jasmine never really came out. Usually jasmine changes into a weird chemical smell on me, so I'm happy that it wasn't really there. Overall it will probably be good for layering, but I'm not sure how much I'll really wear it.

    Les Fleurs du Mal

I just haven't been feeling very floral lately. It starts out as a clean floral and then like almost every other rose scent, it goes all rose. I can no longer get any other notes from it. oh well

    Nanshe

mmmmmm I really like this. It starts out very lemony and then goes more herbal. It could be lemon verbena or lemongrass. It is something that isn't straight lemon, but a lemon type herb. I think there is a bit of lavender in there as well, but it isn't very strong. It fades a lot on me, but I do like it. ETA: I tried it on before bed last night and I had the craziest, upsetting dreams. I'm not sure if I'll wear it before bed again or not. I do however like the way it smells.

    Greed

Base and earthy, yet glittering with golden notes: patchouli, heliotrope, copal and oakmoss. Yes it is earthy. I was guessing patchouli and maybe wood. I have no idea what copal smells like though, so I can't comment on that note. I can't decide if I like it. In fact, I was thinking that it might not get a lot of wear, but my cute roommate really liked it. His review: "I like it. I don't know what things smell like, so I don't know know why." After I read him the review: "Yeah earthy and patchouli."

    Santa Eularia Des Riu

It starts out as a lemony citrus with a bit of floral herbs. Lavender is one of those notes that doesn't jump right out to me, but when I see it in a description I go, "oooooh lavender of course! That's what that note is!" That happened with this one too. It also has a bit of sweetness to it. A floral sweetness. Once it's completely dry on my skin it is very faint. I'm left with a tiny bit of a hint of floral herbs.

    Wolfsbane

Yes I definitely get wood from this. (hee hee) It's like a freshly broken tree limb. Fresh pine sap or something. But it isn't only pine. It is also some other woods, but I can't exactly place them. It's nice enough, but not my style.

    Kuang Shi

At first I was getting orange blossom. Then it morphed into this orangey golden, light musk. It's very nice. It reminds me of something I can't place. It fades a bit fast on me. Not sure how much I'll actually wear it.

    'red' scents

Coyote is golden brown to me. Cerberus=deep brown Blood Moon= deep auburn Port au prince=brown and fizzy Smut= medium reddish brown Death Cap=gold mixed with brown The Great Sword of War=brown Red Lantern= red-brown and some charcoal too Tombstone=dry brown Hearth= reddish brown Kali=sort of red brown Wrath=red (but that could be the color influencing me)

    Rose Cross

This one starts out as a rose with a bit of incense. Then my skin amped up the rose and that's all I could smell. oh well. That seems to happen with most roses on me.

    Penitence

This is quite nice. The lab has the nicest myrrh and frankincense ever. Though I don't know if I would wear this very often. I bet it would be nice layered. ETA: This gets even better later on.

    Eclipse

mmm It starts out spicy bitter almond. The almond kind of wavers between cherry and almond to my nose. After it dries it isn't quite as interesting on me. I'm left with mostly cinnamon. I wish it didn't change so much.

    Port-Au-Prince

yum The clove is very subtle under the buttery sassafras. The almond is also very understated. This reminds me of a bath bomb or something from lush, but I can't place it exactly. Someone mentioned bay rum and yeah there is quite a bit of a bay rum note in here. mmmmmmm I bet this would also smell great on a guy.

    Paris

Before I read the description I would have said it's pear with cinnamon spice. Now I realize that the pear fruit smell must have been the lotus. Somehow I didn't even get the lavender until after I read it. The lavender didn't really stand out on my skin though.

    Yerevan

This one starts out as a very heavy, deep fruit with some fruity flowers. Possibly a little bit of booze too. I really like this, but unfortunately as soon as it dries on my skin it is completely gone.

The Bow & Crown of Conquest

In the imp this was very tasty. It was warm leathery vanilla and musk. On my skin it smelled like wood. Dry wood. I'm surprised the vanilla didn't go plastic on me. Most of the time that happens with vanilla. But the vanilla also disappeared once it was on my skin. Hmm on my skin it didn't really end up being anything that great. oh well

    Death Cap

I haven't tried graveyard dirt, so I can't compare, but Death Cap was a very warm, earthy, woody scent with a little bit of sweetness. I don't always like these dirt types, but this one was actually quite nice. The next time I order imps I'll have to get one of this as now it's available!

    Zero

I wonder if zero has been changed since I got to try it. I didn't really get anything in common with anyone else as far as the notes. I didn't get floral from it at all. It seemed more foody to me. I don't think I mixed it up with any others because I took notes when I was there to keep track of what I tried and what I liked. *shrug* I thought it was very sweet and warm and it reminded me of snake charmer or freak show (though I didn't have those on to compare it to.) This one really worked very well on me and I'm planning on getting a bottle when it is available. ETA: Ok I tried it again. and this time I did get floral. It was a creamy, light, sweet floral. odd

    Chypre

Well, I guess I'd better post a review as well. I'm so glad you liked it, roesmoker. It didn't work out all that well on me and I don't need a whole bottle for TAL purposes. Anyway... I got a herb scent from it at first. It starts out kind of sharp and then fades a bit. It goes a bit powdery once it fades. I think I got some lavender from it and the powder may have been from the white musk, but I never had any hint of violet or neroli like the original chypre has listed as notes. Though I'm not entirely sure that these are the same oil or have the same notes. I haven't had a chance to try it for gambling, so I can't say if it worked for me in that area. I'd love to sneak some on my grandma before she hits the casino. It's one of her favorite pastimes. I'm not sure how she's react if I told her to use some for good luck. Perhaps she'd go for it. I'll update my review if I get the chance and my grandma wins big.

    I need more Cherry!

Hmmm I'm thinking mantle of venus and three witches as far as cloves, but there's no cherry in there. Try blood and blood kiss.
