On first sniff of this I thought, "Dirt? Uh oh." I really didn't think I'd like this one. I thought maybe the dirt smell was something like patchouli, hmmm nope, no patchouli here. As it dried the dirt/composting plants smell went away and now I smell roses. hmmm I have no idea what labdanum smells like, so I don't know how it contributes to the overall scent. Maybe it acccounts for that dirt smell at the beginning. The orchid makes it slightly sweet for a moment. Overall it smells like aging roses. If you like rose, you will probably like this. I don't think it quite competes well enough with the other rose scents that i know i love, so it'll probably end up in a swap. oh well

Hmm on first try it just seemed floral generic and then faded really fast. I knew it deserved a second chance. Today wet and in the vial the violet was really strong. I like violet, so this is good. Overall it stays very violet. And I always like sandalwood and musk. I haven't had it on long enough to know it's staying power, but this is a pretty, slightly mysterious, violety, floral scent. ETA: oh dear, it's been 45 minutes and it's starting to go weird on me. I can smell play-doh sneaking in. dang it!

Lily and jasmine borh can take over on my skin. Luckily they didn't completely overpower this scent. I didn't get any lemon and hardly any rosewood, which is fine. The woods make the florals more interesting. I find the combo of musk, sandalwood, and jasmine generally a sexy combo. I doubt this will be my signature scent or anything, but it is really nice as a subtle sexy, feminine, everyday kind of scent for me.

wooo! Wet and dry on my skin this one is a vavavoom heavy floral. I was thinking jasmine, magnolia, gardenia type flowers. Must be the orchid in there; I've never smelled it on it's own, but blends with it seem to behave this way. I feel like I should be strutting around in something tight and cleavage bearing. It would help if I had a southern accent. I just hope that it doesn't go to powder or old lady in another hour.

In the vial I get rosewood. It's a little heavy. On my skin it lightens up a lot. It becomes a very pretty floral. The jasmine and frangipani come out. On my skin, it's clean, a little sweet, floral, pretty, and slightly boring. I like it, but I'm not sure if I like it enough compared to the others that I like to add to the growing family. I'm running out of space. Might just have to pass this on, but first I'll get a second opinion from one of the boys.

In the vial and wet on my skin it smells very buttery. Warm, sweet and salty butter. Very tasty. Unfortunately, once it dries my skin does something weird with this and it fades off into a weird, sweet, plastic, powder. It's not working out for me.

Wet, this seems very herby, almost like a medicinal smell. Kind of harsh. As it dried it went a little softer. I get mostly oakmoss from this, but then I wouldn't be able to say what oude smells like. Not real certain about black cypress either. Anyway, didn't get a whole lot of wood type notes here like a lot of people mentioned. I get more of a forest floor. I still can't figure out if I like it or not. I wonder how this would smell on a man. hmmmm

Hmm hard to put my finger on... It seems lemony and sweet. It got sweeter as it dried on my skin. There's just a tiny bit of floral in here and something deeper and richer underneath. I'll have to test this again when my period is over. (sorry tmi)

I agree with the other posts about this being a masculine scent. On me it's very dark. I like the combination of the musk, leather, and vetiver. This is the first one I've tried with either leather and vetiver. I need to go find a lighter version of this for me and a guy for this. ADDED Aug. 26: I got this one in a swap about two months ago. Every once in a while i'd sniff the imp and consider trying it on. I kept thinking that it was too strong and masculine. "Maybe next time I'll try it." So, finally today I did. Wet: It is very dark, mysterious, musky, and sort of resiny/spicy. On my skin: mmmm I don't know what I was afraid of before. It's a very sexy scent, but it is on the masculine side. It goes a little dark spicy on me. As it fades the leather comes out a little bit more. I didn't get strong leather from this. The vetiver comes out more too as it fades. I like it, but I think it would smell sexier on a man. ETA: oops I'm a dork. I guess I did try this one already, but didn't know what to make of it, so I hung onto it awhile longer.

In the vial this one smelled dark, fruity, and earthy. Wet on my skin it smelled woody with the apricot in the background. As it dried it went even woodier and the apricot dropped away. I really wish the fruit had been bigger. It smelled to me like there was ceder in it. I guess I'm not used to this type of patchouli. My roommate's verdict- "dusty closet." oh well

Dang. I really thought I would like this one. It smells really good in the vial. Mostly dragon's blood, but a little sweeter. tasty On my skin however, it smelled really camphorous. Almost like mothballs. My roommate thought it smelled like incense. I don't think I can wear vanilla. Darn it.

I got this one as a freebie from the lab. Thank you! In the vial this one smelled very strongly of bay rum. On my skin the first time I tried it, I got lots of tobacco, this time it's still lots of bay rum with some tobacco. After about 45 minutes the florals came out and mixed gorgeously with the tobacco and bay rum. It's a little dark and heavy, but mmmmmm it is sexy. ETA: I bet this would smell good on a guy. Now I have to go find one to try it on.

I got this one as a freebie from the lab with my first official order. Thanks! In the vial and wet it smelled light and floral with a little something underneath, must be the myrrh. I couldn't really pick out any rose. As it dried it stayed about the same. girly, floral, light. After about 45 minutes it's more earthy. Like water on earth with flowers. I think someone mentioned a rain scent. I'm getting that, but with more earth in it. Not sure this one's for me.

In the vial and wet it was very gingery/peppery. As it dried on my skin i caught a whiff of the linen for like, a second. Then as it dried it went to milk and honey with a floral background. Now, a few hours later, it mostly smells sweetly floral. I asked my roommate what he thought it smelled like and said, "uh, flowers." It's nice and mellow. Never got any tea though.

In the vial and while wet this one smells like strong, burnt coffee. As it dried it softened up and went more floral. Usually on my skin rose really shows up, but this time it seemed like the jasmine came more forward. It smelled really lovely for a minute, then all the notes sort of mushed together on my skin. My skin makes this one go from a deep, dark, very interesting, slightly floral scent into just another ok, but nothing special one. oh well. *shrug* maybe I'll have to try it again on another day.

This one I bought a 5ml of without even sniffing an imp first based on the review that it smelled exactly like a cosmopolitan. It does smell like pomegranite. It's not sweet like a cosmo, but tart. It smells fruity, crisp and tart. It softened a bit as it dried, but overall stayed the same. Not bad, but I'll probably layer it with something sweet and orange.

Thanks wickedgoddess! In the bottle- floral, sweet and peppery Wet on my skin- lots of pepper, but not black pepper, must be the ginger. no trace of honey yet. Dry on my skin- aha! there it is. mmmmmm honey sweetness with a bit of jasmine. yay no play-doh! honey, honey, honey edited for spelling

The floral I'm getting from this is that hawaiian one, pikaki? I can't think of the name. Anyway, I get floral. It is strong and a little goes a long way! The first couple times I tried it, it went to soap after a while.

Wet/in the vial: ooooooohhhh could this be what I've been waiting for all my life? It's creamy, warm, and sugary sweet. Oh how I love it. After three minutes: why why why??!!! PLAY DOH! My roommate confirmed this. I asked, "What does this smell like to you?" He said, "Oh it's play doh, exactly." $#@^%$&%*^*&&%$##!

In the vial it smelled mostly of the orchid and jasmine. Sweet, deep florals. On my skin the other notes came out. I agree with everyone else who said that this is a complex scent. It's funny but complex is the exact word i thought of as I sniffed it before I read any of the other reviews. I like osmanthus as well. Sometimes it smells a little fruity to me, but not so much here. This is a very pretty, girl kind of scent. I only wish it didn't fade into oblivion on my skin.

In the vial: strong rum! Wet on my skin: mmmm rum with butter in it tasty After it dried on my skin: eh not so hot. it's doing a weird fake vanilla thing. boo hoo I think this is the plastic smell that some people have referred to.
-
In the vial this one smelled like cherry and spicy wood. The wood scent went away on my skin immediately and the cherry never got too sweet or cough syrupy like some of the others. Now that it's dry on my skin, it smells really nice. It's spicy and warm with a touch of sweetness.
-
In the bottle this one smelled like a sweet, slightly spicy, sexy floral. On my skin it stayed that way for about 20 minutes then just went a little too far. It got a bit cloying with my skin. oh well (they really need a *shrug* icon on here, it seems to be my most common gesture) *shrug*

In the bottle: rose, duh. strong. On my skin it's a very deep, strong, dark rose. Apparantly rose is my thing. Oh and amber and musk too it seems. At some point I will own a bottle of this.

first whiff: eh, nothing special. a little boring and faint i put some on just to try it. wet: the same, boring about half an hour after i left the store: whoa, why didn't i buy that? oh man oh man oh man It just got stronger and more developed on my skin after a while. I smell spices, skin, and oddly, babies. not baby powder, but actual babies. baby skin. weird, yet pleasant. i'll have to pick some up the next time i'm there.
