I was delighted to order this - a totally worthwhile cause wherever you live in the world. I happened to open my package, and this bottle, sitting next to hubby on the sofa and he had to actually leave the room!! Strong, earthy, not much patchouli on first sniff, but as someone else already said, a strong hint of vetiver. Oddly, I also get some mint. So, so strong. Wow! Too much for me! After washing it off immediately (hubby was truly allergic and headachey after the brief sniff), and several hours later, my wrist smelt lovely! Ah, too bad. I will definitely see how this ages, perhaps it will mellow.

Yum! This is one mysterious, complex and wonderful scent! The incense is there and the lavender too, but it's so well blended it's a smooth mix of gorgeous notes and it's difficult to pick out any one in particular. I'm not a great floral lover and I'm not getting a huge hit of flowers here at all. It does smell dreamy and dark as said before, as if something exciting and wonderful is just around the corner - if that makes sense! Hubby loves it, I love it and a couple of hours later it's a tiny bit airier and lighter but still dangerous! Marks: 4.5 out of 5. ~Siobhan

This is a beautiful scent. Sigh. I was a little worried that it would be quite similiar to Spellbound, which I wear a lot, but it is so different! I can see the comparison to Snake Oil, but it is so subtle, which is good because I'm not a big fan of Snake Oil! I've been wearing it now for a couple of hours and it has softened down, but definitely still there, wafting around me. There is a very evocative note in it for me, it could be the amber or maybe the tobacco, but whatever it is, it takes me back to a very nice, comforting, time and place and it makes me smile. I ordered two bottles based on the wonderfully descriptive reviews here and what a great decision. Marks: 5 out of 5. Utterly divine. ~Siobhan

I was really looking for a fresh, clean scent for the summer as I work in a dusty, hot, stuffy office. I like musky, sexy scents (Spellbound is a fave) but they're just a wee bit heavy for summer in the workplace. I had tried Dirty but hubby had said too soapy and I thought it was too sharp. After reading all the great, detailed reviews here for Wensleydale, I took a gamble and ordered a 5ml bottle unsniffed! I'm so, so, glad I did. I can't better any of the descriptions here except to add a couple of words of my own. Fresh laundry - soft, neutral soap - clean and sexy. So delicious and the great thing is it lasted for 5 hours in aforementioned office, just mellowing down a bit. I always put scent on my hair and it smelled fresh and crisp all day. It's wonderful. I love it!

I was so looking forward to receiving the imp of Wolfsbane! Herby, woody, green - it promised so much! It's a very, very, strong wood and dark, ominous greenery scent on first application - I really liked it. But as the minutes went by, it changed and brought out some intense emotions! I couldn't quite understand what it was at first, the scent had calmed down a lot and become slightly powdery, but I still felt really unsettled. About an hour passed and I finally got it! It smells exactly like Ma Griffe by Carven. My mom used to wear this scent and as she passed away in 1984 I hadn't smelled it in quite some time! It's amazing how scent affects us and brings us back in time... So, not for me, a bit too strange, but for anyone who like intense greenery and wet wood scents, Wolfsbane would be perfectly lovely! And it lasts a long time too.

Scents for Depression - when you're down and need a boost

I wanted to add The Zieba Tree to these great recommendations. I needed something fresh but lasting for work and when I wear it, it also makes me feel confident, calm and content (in a difficult job). I hope you're feeling better. -
I received The Harlot's House as an imp and was immediately smitten with the scent from the little vial! It is floral, yes, but not overly so as there's a wonderful woody/herby tone as well. I don't get the sandalwood at all, the violet is just delicious. And I'm not a floral type at all! It's also a very evocative scent for me, reminding me of something my mom wore, and she's gone 26 years....so it brought up quite a few emotions! I tried it again a couple of days later and felt better wearing it. I felt mysterious, luscious and very womanly! haha! It lasts a good long time, not really needing to reapply until evening. I also put some in my hair which lasts forever. And husband really likes it. So definitely getting a big bottle. Marks out of 10 - 8.5. Yummy.
