    Red Devil

A sinfully playful lust blend. Inspires sexual spontaneity, a little bit of kinkiness, and new and inventive ways to get dirty. Right away, there is a sharp citric smell, like orange peels. There is also something peppery in this, the inside of my nose tingles every time I sniff my hand. Once this settles down on my skin, it becomes very light, I can barely smell this.

    Wicked

I get mainly myrrh and jasmine from this, no trace of the rose in here at all. This is a fairly dusty scent, and I am reminded of an elderly woman's fancy perfume. Defiantly not my thing.

    Anubis

I don't know what it is, but in the imp and wet on my skin, this smells like old soy sauce! Silly skin chemistry. As this drys down it becomes soft and smooth, but I can detect the tiniest hint of soy sauce every now and again. Other than that, this is a fairly nice scent, I'm just not sure I could wear this one.

    Arkham

At first there is this strange muskiness that is quite dirty and doesn't smell good at all, but this does fade quickly. There is also a bright heavy florals. As one who is not a huge fan of heavy florals, I find this to be a bit over whelming. In the end, this is a big bight bar of floral soap, not good at all.

    Tisiphone

This is a bright and sweet floral with a touch of dry muskiness. There is also a bit of a bitter edge in this from the neroli. This is nice with its sweet and dusty combination, but not really something I would wear.

    Woods in Winter

I got this because I love juniper, but sadly I don't really detect any in here. On me, this is mainly a fresh greenness to this from the hemlock layered over a cold slushy ozone. There is also a hint of wood in the background. This is a very chilly clean scent, that reads as rather masculine to me. Defiantly not a scent for me.

    The Waltz of the Snowflakes

I was on the fence about this one when it arrived fresh from the lab. It smelt like buttercream icing, with an extra lump of sugar. This was just way to sweet and actually made my stomach knot up. It was not the creamy cool snow scent I thought it would be. So I set this one aside thinking I may just need to swap it, but after several weeks, this has changed considerably. It is no longer a cloyingly sweet food scent any more, but a smooth vanilla snow scent with soft fir needles and pine bark dancing in the background. This is much more enjoyable now.

    The Spanish Dance

I was rather excited when this one arrived, holding the bottle up to the light and seeing thick globs of chocolaty goodness. In the bottle, this is almost pure chocolate. The orange blossom honey is there, but it registers more as just orange. On my skin, this is still mostly chocolate and the orange blossom has become more honeyed now. The honey has also become more prominent now, so delicious. At this point, the pomegranate has yet to show up, but once things start to dry down, the honey begins to draw back a bit and make room for the pomegranate to shine through. This is a bright and somewhat sweet blend (but not not at all cloying), that is just so gorgeous. I just love this.

    Winter Solstice Lunar Eclipse

In the bottle, this is soft resinous herbal blend, brightened by the daemonorops and berry notes. One on the skin, the red musk and rose peppercorn become the most noticeable notes. The berries are still present and perhaps a bit of pine. As it warms on the skin, it becomes resinous again. This is a well blended, very complex scent. It very lovely and the husband simply adores this one on me.

    Ultraviolet

Right away I get eucalyptus and mint only, and it is quite intense. As this dries, the violet comes out little by little. The violet really softens up the sharpness of the silver mint. This id quite nice. The mint eventually tiers out and recedes to the back, making this now eucalyptus and violet combo.

    Golden Priapus

This smells like a smokey diet Dc. Pepper and is giving me a head ache. Into the swap pile for this one.

La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente

This is peach, myrtle and rose at first. Once this hits my skin, it picks up an aquatic background, that seems rather soapy for a minute or two. I don't get any pomegranate, but perhaps it is adding to the overall juiciness of the scent. It is nice, but not bottle worthy for me.

    Against Idleness and Mischief

This smells just like chamomile tea with honey, light and sweet. The tonka gives a nice creamy touch. I really like this, it is quite soothing. I am not detecting any hyssop, but hopefully it will join the party soon.

Dark Chocolate and Key Lime Truffle

I was a bit unsure about this one, as I didn't think I would really be a fan of chocolate scents, but this is really delicious. The key lime is the prominent note in this, it is slightly sweet and slightly tart. And right behind that is a glorious dark chocolate. It is so smooth and creamy, this makes me want to nom on my wrist. I had no idea just how wonderful a chocolate scent could be, this has defiantly opened up a whole new avenue of scents I want to try now. After a while on my skin, the lime has soften up a bit, but is still giving a tart flare to the scent. The chocolate has melted into something deep and bittersweet, my favorite kind of chocolate. This is so divine. Unfortunately, this doesn't hang around to long.

    The Peacock Queen

'09 version: This is the soft velvety petals of a fresh rose with maybe just a touch of pollen. No stem and leaves here. The Peacock Queen just blooms on my skin, it is so gorgeous and feminine. I have been searching for the perfect rose scent, and so far this has been the only winner for me.

    High John the Conqueror

This is vine ripe grapes wafting out of the imp, so rich and sweet. This is absolutely delicious. Once on my skin, the grapes smell slightly fermented, but only for a few seconds. I start to pick up the scent of wild flowers and herbs, and sadly the grapes fade off to the background. It does start to take on a soapy and powdery smell to it. As this dries, it is all soapy wild flowers. I differently won't be picking up a bottle of this, but I may hang on to my imp.

    Eos

It seems that the jasmine and buttercup are fitting for dominance in the imp. This is a tad too sharp for me. On my skin however, this is all honeysuckle, bright fragrant honeysuckle. It reminds me of my parents house when I was a child, and all the honeysuckle bushes growing up the post around the porch. As this dries, the jasmine comes back into the picture, but there is no sign of the buttercup. This settles to a soft jasmine sweeten by a touch of honeysuckle, that stays close to the skin. This is a very delicate, feminine scent that would be nice for spring wear. I'm not sure why, but later this very citrus like. It's as if some brought out a pitcher of lemonade into the garden of jasmines and honeysuckles. I find it to be quite overpowering and I can even feel this in my throat. This is very odd. Well, off to the swap pill this one goes.

    Le Serpent Qui Danse

In the imp, this is all gardenia. Once in hits my skin though, it becomes violet. The vanilla does emerge just slightly as this warms up. This is on the verge of becoming soapy, but it never quite makes the leap. I don't get sinister or seductive from this, but it is very feminine. There is a sort of sweetness to this, like a nectar or honey sweetness. After it has dried, the gardenia reasserts itself, and gives this scent a very soft velvety feel. The sweet nectar is still going strong on this. This is nice, but I think I might like more if the vanilla was more present.

    Grandmother of Ghosts

For some reason this smells just like pine-sol when I open the imp. But once applied to my skin, it becomes a nice wood scent, backed by the pale pepper and white musk. I really like the laurel in this. The florals are not to noticeable in this, but they do add to the scent, softening up the other notes. As this dries, it becomes predominantly wood with musk and pepper, with almost a dusty pine pitch smell. The laurel fades away to almost nothing, and I can only catch slight whiffs of it here and there. I don't get any mandarin in this at all. This is nice, although I do wish the laurel would come back to play. An hour later, this is all mandarin and lily.

    Phantom

Out of the imp, this mostly attar of rose and myrrh, and it is some what bright. After applied to my skin, the dark musk emerges and darkens things up a bit. It is a bit hard to describe, but it is stale and fresh at the same time. As it drys on my skin, it becomes a dusty rose. It is nice, but I am not sure it is something I will reach for.

    Joulumuori

I am typically not a lover of foody scents, but this one may change my mind. When I open up the imp, the mead is the first thing to come up, but is backed by the rice pudding. It smells so divine. On my skin, the prune comes in and begins to mingle with the rice pudding, and the mead recedes a little, but still it adds a touch of sweetness. Once it has dried, this becomes smoky and the prune soup becomes more of a prune drizzled with golden honey. This has quite a bit of depth to, but it does close to the skin, I can really only smell it when I press my hand to my nose. I truly adore this and cannot stop sniffing my hand. It is that delicious.

    #20 Love Oil

In the imp and wet on my skin, this is soapy and sweet roses. But something is odd about these roses, they don't smell quite right and frankly, they are giving me a headache. As this dries down it becomes easier to tolerate. It still is sweet roses, but the soap has subsided to the background. The rose has become smooth and velvety, and there is something very green and fresh in this. There also seems to be an herbal edge to this. Not quite sure if I like this one or not.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

I just place a finger over the opening and flip it. Then I rub that on my wrist, neck, and inner part of mt elbows. However, I am so scared of knocking my bottles over, as I flip them a good two or three times (slather here ) I really want to invest in reducer caps, I think I will sleep better knowing my smellies are safe from my clumsy mitts .

I have had this since its release, but have yet to do a review for it, oops. In the bottle: This is real strong. I mainly get wet and soapy dead leaves and something reminiscent of dirt. This is very unpleasant. Wet on skin: The floral in this are quite strong and smell dry and dusty. It still smells of wet leaves, but the soapiness is no longer there. At this point, I am still not convinced about this scent. There is a smokey tone in the background, black sage I am guessing. Dry down: This softens up quite a bit due to the thistle and heather, and smell of dried up flowers in the garden, surrounded by dead leaves. A slightly honeyed sweetness begins to emerge, this must be the snapdragon. The ivy also makes an appearance at this stage. This is quite nice. Overall: I am still not quite certain how I feel about this scent. I do not care for its wet stages, but can't decide if the end result is nice enough to justify it.
