I've been looking for the perfect myrrh blend for a long time. When I read the notes for Herodotus' Phoenix I was hopeful, now that I have a decant I am ecstatic! This is a complex myrrh with just enough copal and frankincense to brighten it. Fantastic!

I am wearing Joyful Moon today, and loving it. Can't believe I've nursed the bottle this long. But some day it will be gone--alas! Any recommendations for something GC to take it's place in my heart? White musk, French vanilla, ambrette seed, frankgipani, angelica root, white rose, orris, and honeysuckle.

I bought this when it came out because I love White Rose and hoped this would be another winner. I was sad that this beautiful scent did not last longer than a few minutes. So it has sat in my bottle box since then. I pulled it out today and am so happy! Its beauty has amplified during the last 6+ months. White rose and the most beautiful soft musk supported gently by the vanilla and florals.

I've worn this three times, and have three different impressions on this blend. First time was at Will Call and I loved it wet, but it seemed to become a jumble as it dried--I chalked this up to the fact that I had somewhat overdone my sniffing at my first Will Call and overwhelmed my nose. The second time was when my bottle arrived. Again, I loved the first few minutes, apple and blackberry. But then it became a horrid jumble--oh no! But third times the charm. Again it opens with that beautiful apple note I love and can't get enough of. As it dries the fruit fades and a dry herbal blend emerges. This is reminiscent of Whoso List To Hunt, it must be the oak moss note. I wish the apple note lasted, even though it's fleeting I love what remains behind.

It opens with the most beautiful green, golden and sweet. Oh so lovely when wet. I mean, it was the most beautiful thing I'd smelled in a long time. It dries to green and yellow leaves. Interesting, evocative. Then with a bit more time I smell like a smoker who's trying to cover it up with perfume. What the heck happened?!?!?

Oh, this is delightful. Door is my new go-to summer scent. Door is soft honey with an herbal undertones. Everything blends nicely together and stays true and lasts a long time. So glad that I got a decant, and will be adding a full bottle to my next order.

This is very, very nice. A dusty rose scent made less dry by the beeswax and dribble of wine. This is reminiscent of the Last Rose of Summer, but juicier. The first time I tried it I was overwhelmed by the wine note, on subsequent tries the wine was less pronounced and the whole thing came together in a melange of wonderfulness.

This is the 2010 version: Myrrh and Moroccan jasmine with apple peel, Indian sandalwood, myrtle, quince, citron, and thyme poured over soft musk Wet this is all jasmine, all the time. An hour or so later the jasmine backs off and the other notes come out. The transitionary time, as the jasmine fades and the other notes emerge , is quite lovely. Unfortunately it does not last and another hour later the scent is gone. I think I shall remain content with my decant.

I received a sample of TKO courtesy of the BPAL Santa wish list last month. Oh, this is amazing stuff. Wet it's a strong lavender and something else creamy and deep. On drydown it's.....well I can't say what it is dry because I am sound asleep by then. But my sheets smell delicious the next morning and I will be getting a bottle of my very own soon. TKO is good stuff!

This is the 2009 resurrected version of Hod. Hello carnation!! Wow, the scent of sharp spicy carnation overwhelms everything when Hod is wet. Now, 90 minutes later the carnation has tempered and I smell creamy amber with a much milder carnation. Upthread Hillary mentions this amber note being reminiscent of a chunk of amber resin, that is exactly what I get. The carnation note is a bit more elusive now, wafting up from my neck as I move my head. I was a little worried during the first 20 minutes that this would remain sharp carnation, but it's toned down and dancing with the amber note. I love it, so glad I have a bottle.

This is lovely, just lovely. Soft and pink, roses and vanilla, exactly as I expected when first reading the description. To me Pink Snowball has the same soft young girly vibe that Alice does. Many reviewers are saying this is Snow White plus Red Rose I've never smelled Snow White, so maybe that's what I'm picking up. I ordered a bottle unsniffed and am quite glad that I did. This is going to be one of my favorites. So very happy.... and curious now to give Snow White a try

Bright happy making citrus. 20 minutes or so later the brightness has faded and bergamot and ginger come out to play. An hour later I have to burry my nose in my wrist to find a trace of scent Hey ghosts, where did you go? I love it and wish it lasted longer, I'll have to slather this one and reapply throughout the day.

2009 verison HELLO ROSE! Fresh from the imp, sharp bright rose--enough to make me step back and wonder if I made a big rosey mistake. But no, after a few minutes this begins to soften into something beautiful. Pure soft velvety rose. I am a big fan of rose blends and didn't think I needed another variation, but this is nice and elegant, reminiscent of the pure rose essential oil I used to wear. I was walking back to my desk from the coffee bar just now and noticed I felt extremely happy; I wondered why and realized it was this scent, it makes my heart feel lighter, what more could one ask for?

Oh, this is interesting. This review is more feel than scent impressions as I can't pick out any notes. When first applied I get a feeling af wet, fresh, crisp acquatic. This feels open and airy. As time passes and I am able to disect the scent without being carried away by the feel of the blend. I get a generic floral bordering on soapy with no musk evident. Not very impressive past the dry down phase.

Dark and richly fruity to start. Doesn't change much from wet to dry down to hours later, only loses intensity. As mentioned up thread it reminds me of shower gel. A very nice shower gel.

Piney and minty with something lightly flowerly underneath. After about half an hour the pine/mint has faded and I'm left with a faint clean floral. Interesting enough that I'll wear it a few more times to see how it behaves. I usually apply a scent to my wrist and swipe the wand through my hair, with The First Soft Snow I much prefer the flowery notes on my skin to the pine/mint that remains in my hair.

This is a scent I wanted to love. I fell in love with the description first, I had a fondness for this poor cold boy who I had never met. Then last summer there was a discussion in the forum about which scent to wear to see Harry Potter 6 and which would represent Severus Snape. Someone suggested The Shivering Boy, and since then this scent has been entwined with the idea of a young Snape, cold and alone. I still had not sniffed this blend, yet I had an emotional attachment. And then, there is was offered in the 2009 Yules. None of the notes were among my favorites so I started with a decant. Here is where fantasy meets reality, I was almost afraid to try The Shivering Boy and discover I hated it. But I did not hate it, I loved it. Oh Joy! The grape is not overly sweet, nor is it stale wine. It's a juicy grape encrusted in ice, frozen grapes left on the vine in an abandoned vinyard. It's crunching through the snow in the vinyard to the relative shelter of the remains of a stone estate. Hours later I detect some lingering warmth of the resins, the hard won, easily lost warmth of body heat trapped in a frosty wrap. This is beautiful and I will be getting a full bottle soon.

This is the scent of dried flowers rimmed with frost. At first application the snow note is prominent, not minty snow but somewhat aquatic and lightly ozone. Then the scent/feel of dry flowers emerges, dry frozen flowers. Dry I also detect some amber. The notes all blend together into a pleasantly unique complex scent. The more I sniff this, the more I like it.

Sometimes I fall in love with a concept, or am seduced by the hype, and expect a whole lot from a scent--a lot more than it can ever deliver. Ded Moroz smells green wet from the bottle. slightly minty and then morphing to sage. After about 30 minutes it's a light gentle subtle woodsy smell, I can't pick out any amber. I wanted to love you Ded Moroz, but alas you are mildly pleasant and fleeting not awe inspiring. I shall remain content with my decant.

I do like this scent. Oh yes--very much. It's different from anything I've tried so far, it's dry like Coyote is dry, actually it has a lot of the qulaities I like in Coyote but in a stronger scent. From the imp I get rose, but not a sweet rose. This is like the memory of rose in a forest too dark and dry for rose to bloom. As it dries the rose, amber, musk, bark and moss vie for position. The first time I wore it I did not smell rose at all, the second time rose was stronger. Eventually, once the gentle pushing and shoving is sorted out all the scents blend together into something beautiful, warm, dry and woody. I feel as if I am wrapped in a cloak of, not quite velvet--perhaps it is bark and moss which have been woven together to make a soft amber colored wrap.

Still trying to decide what to wear! I ordered a few scents to try for Sanpe, but they are not here yet so I have to go with what I have on hand. Fortunately, I've decided Perversion is my Snape scent. I'll put it in my scent locket--for private consumption.

I've been wanting to write a review of this since I first opened the bottle, but could not find the words. Wearing it today I realized I do not need to list the notes I pick out (because I can't) or compare it to anything else, I can tell you what I experience when I wear it. Festival of Anuket is sun shining on moving water. It brings me back to my trip to Egypt, sailing in a feluca on the Nile. The wind in the sails, the smiling faces of our Nubian crew. The feeling of gratitude and pure joy that I felt there, at that place, at that time.

I predict a run on Snape six packs. Making my list riiiight now. Severus

This is an eclipse in a bottle. Masterfully done! Initial sniff from the bottle, sharply medicinal. It's the bitter scent of artemesia, what I get on my hand after brushing the leaves in my garden. Wet: When first applied I did not smell a thing. I wonder if my nose was overpowered from the sniff from the bottle. Or am I witnessing the total eclipse of the sun? A few moments later as it begins to dry the eclipse is ending and the sun emerges. The golden scent of frankincense and herbs. To my minds eye frankincense is a dark gold, not bright as amber. I look for amber and heliotrope in the scent but don't find them yet. Later: Frankincense has faded and a warm bright herbal blend remains. This is a wonderful blend that tells the story of an eclipse with scent. I am amazed at the artistry achieved here.

Starts out wonderful, all spicy carnation and what I think is cinnamon, though that's not a listed note. I enjoy Frumious Bandersnatch for an hour. But then I did something unfortunate, I read the first page of reviews where people compare this to craft store potpourri. I must be very suggestable becasue after reading that I could not completely shake off the association. I continue to enjoy the scent for another hour or so, but at some point in the dry down something becomes changes, the potpourri association returns amplified and it starts to turn my stomach. I had to wash it off.
