Very simple. A light, indescript, slightly powdery musk. It makes me think of Antique Lace, minus the vanilla. I think this will be a great layering scent.
-
I mostly smell hot chocolate powder, but I CAN faintly detect something a little acrid and chemical-y. The glue? The googly eyes (Christoper Walken, anyone?)? It's pretty cool, and should be great when I need to feel warm and comforted.

This scent makes me smile. Partly because it makes me think of Evil Dead, and partly because it smells EXACTLY how it's described. Banana cream pie and something greasy, like you'd smell at a mechanic's garage. Epic.

With so many notes, I expected this to be a little more complex. And it is, in the bottle. In the bottle, I smell a mixture of dark, smokey notes and florals, but on my skin, I just get a muddled mix of tobacco and something incensey.

It smells like someone is eating a Reese Peanut Butter Cup dipped in grenadine!! So spot on. I love peanut butter and chocolate, but grenadine? Not so much. Really evocative of a B-Horror though!
-
I smell like an ashtray..with the faintest bit of vanilla BARELY detectable close to the skin. I suspect that tobacco, a note I have little experience with, amps on my skin. I'll age this for a few more months and see if it improves!

Bought this to have the complete set of horror scents! I'm a total horror junkie. Yep, this smells like burning, twisted flesh. And also..like really salty ham to my nose. I don't dare put it on my skin!
-
Citrus, citrus, CITRUS. It does smell gooey, if that makes sense.. Very much a gooey grapefruit jelly. It's nice, and would be very refreshing in the summer heat.
-
Love's Philosophy smells like cream soda and vanilla ice cream on me; it's delicious! On a stranger note, I was huffing Hand of Glory, one of my all time favorites, last night, and said to my brother, "This smells carbonated." Odd, but true! Like carbonated beeswax and amazing-ness.

2010 Version: Gingerbread. What a surprise! But this isn't dry, spicy gingerbread, oh no. It's crumbly, sweet, moist gingerbread decorated with icing and powdered sugar. Wonderfully evocative, I know what I'll be wearing on Christmas Eve this year!

I definitely get pine and mint in Winter-Time; usually I hate the smell of pine, but this is soft and inoffensive. I get a blast of lime (?!?!) on first application, which settles into sweet, minty pine and something vaguely aquatic. After a while, I smell a minty vanilla tea. My skin tends to turn everything to vanilla tea if it has even the slightest bit of sweetness to it, so that probably isn't a normal reaction. I don't mind it though! Definitely cool and soothing. I bet I'll reach for this a lot in the summer!

2010 Version: I'm so glad that I've FINALLY tried Snow White. I dabbed a bit of it on the back of my hand today before going to an ATM. Immediately I started catching wafts of a sweet, musky, light...vanilla? No, not quite. Cream? Coconut? No, neither of those either... When I press my hand against my nose, I can catch a faint hint of apples, oddly enough. I can't put my finger on what that beautiful scent is, but I know that I love it!

I have been on the search for a sexy oil for a very long time. I can't stand a lot of heavier notes that are considered traditionally sexy (incense, patchouli, amber). When I found Loviatar, I thought I had found my Holy Grail. I didn't know that I loved red musk and leather so much, especially together. Tragically, two days after I tried my imp of Loviatar, it was discontinued. I never thought I'd find anything like it. UNTIL TODAY. The Soldier is Loviatar on my skin, but even better. It's not as heavy. It has a sweetness to it. The throw is perfect, not too strong or too faint. I am in love. Multiple bottle purchase, no question.

A BPAL like my shampoo, conditioner, gel & hair products

So I've recently become addicted to John Frieda's Root Awakening Hair Line (green bottles), and I think most of that has to do with the SMELL. It is heavenly, and the complete opposite of the scents I usually love. It's heavily minty, with something sweet but still light, and a tinge of eucalyptus. It's almost like a light, chocolate mint mixed with a clean, high end shampoo smell and eucalyptus. If anyone has smelled it and can think of a BPAL dupe, or can distinguish something based on my pathetic notes, I would really appreciate! I'm such a foody lover/mint hater that I am bowled over by my love for this scent. I highly recommend the products as well, in case anyone was curious! So Thin Mints drizzled with luxury shampoo and garnished with fresh eucalyptus. Yumm. -
Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

How about something in the vein of Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolfe, or CH by Carolina Herrara? They're almost identical on me, CH is a little sweeter, Flowerbomb has more tea. Here are the notes: Flowerbomb - bergamot, tea, jasmine, freesia, orchid, centiflora rose and patchouli. ( I don't get any of these notes, except the tea/bergamot. It is very sweet and I don't get anything floral). CH - An intriguing fragrance mysterious and complex opening with a floral accord of bergamot, orange, grapefruit and a juicy melon. Bulgarian rose, jasmine and praline are at the heart and the base is an oriental delight of cinnamon, woody notes and leather. ( The leather, cinnamon, praline and bergamot are detectable, I also get something very sweet, like in Flowerbomb). -
Finding BPAL blends similar to Dior perfumes....

I must be the only one who gets a lot of root beer from Hypnotic Poison! I get a heavy dose of sweet vanilla, a tiny hit of almond, and that fizzy root beer smell. As it wears on, it gets muskier, but it still smells wonderfully sweet to me. Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener is similar on my skin, and incidentally, they layer beautifully together (and add a dab of Hand of Glory with that? Heaven.) The vanilla is so unique however, I don't know if I've smelled a BPAL like it! It's one of my favorite commercial perfumes, the one I reach for when I want to smell..er...hypnotic.. Am I the only one who gets some root beer?! -
Oh dude, you are totally Antikythera Mechanism! Seconding this! Alright, I'm a 20 year old Public Relations student. I'm pretty shy around people I don't know very well, except at work. I absolutely love animals, horror movies, bizarro/horror/thriller/mystery/graphic novels/short story collections/basically most books, and tattoos. I've been writing since I was 4 years old, and I'm currently 4 books into a 9 book series I'm writing. I love philosophy, debates, and learning about religion, despite being an atheist. Learning is something I hope to continue for the rest of my life. I love to travel. I love alternative rock, industrial metal, a lot of Eastern European rock, some hip hop, and musicals. My family and I are extremely close, and they and my friends come before anything else. I like to listen to people's problems, and I've been told that I'm a really good friend. I've struggled with depression and anxiety for a while, so I'm constantly struggling to be positive. I'm a deeply sexual person, which is something most people don't expect when they look at me. I'm also a very proud redhead and a lefty! I think I'm quite odd, but I find that I'm pretty well-liked because of that.

Dior's Hypnotic Poison is IDENTICAL to Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener on me! Pure root beer. Anything similar to Pure Poison? Notes: Sweet Orange, Bergamot of Calabre, Mandarin of Sicily, Orange Flower, Jasmine Sambac LMR, Hydroponic Living Gardenia, Sandalwood, White Amber, Musks. What about Burberry Beat? Notes of bergamot, mandarin, Ceylon tea, cardamom, pink pepper, bluebell, iris, white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. -
Devil's Night! Pure wood fire on me.
-
This smells like D&G Light Blue! I love it. Light and slightly sweet, definitely a skin scent.
-
Warm, snuggly coconut. Definitely a must have for people who like coconut. It's very nice, but not for me.
-
Oh this is heavenly. Lots of syrupy beeswax, one of my favorite notes. Honey tends to turn a little too sweet on me, but beeswax is divine. I get a lick of vanilla (?) and a slight background of something smokey. I love this.
-
I get a hint of mint, and something burnt..under a spicy, flakey (how does she make something smell flakey?!) cookie. I smell a little clove, some brown sugar..it's nice! It'll be good for the holidays, but it isn't as amazing as I'd hoped.

Sweet lemon sherbert, with a slight aquatic edge. Reminds me of Shoggoth or the Deep Ones. Very nice! This will be great in the summer.

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

Loviatar?! I hated it the first time I tested it, and yet now, a few weeks later, I'm addicted! I smell like sexxxxxxx. I guess I like red musk..I'm surprised. I assumed I didn't like it as I thought it was the tangy, sneeze-inducing note in Snake Oil, but it must not be. I am a happy girl. Off to find some more red musk heavy blends!
