Chaos Theory VI: Recursive Self-Similarity v7
MCS4096 replied to Kitrona's topic in Limited Editions
I got #211 and I'll be damned if it doesn't smell just like Skytyping With Chemtrails... And I can be extra sure of this since I got a bottle of that in the same order as this CT blend It's nice.. vanilla and creamy lemon.. kinda lemon meringue pie-esque.. just like Skytyping, but slightly duller-- it fades faster and the sweetness goes more dusty than Skytyping. I may sell this guy off to someone looking for it's Helicopter twin -
Recently snagged a '05 bottle of this off eBay! It does have a fascinating hair spray tinge at first application, but it mellows into a lovely oriental blend; juicy but spicy. I get a lot of tuberose and sandalwood. It's fairly simple, and not that unique.. but I love the idea and I'm glad to have a bottle

True.. it doesnt last terribly long, but BOY is it good, even when faded! It's the best, yummiest creamy root beer-- what I wanted Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener to be. It feels similar to Tombstone as well.. only better. It fades to a sweet, creamy, slightly spicy musk.

Yep.. TKO spray When it's fresh it's a little more green smelling to me, but when it dries into the fabric of my sheets it's straight up TKO.. YAY!

Oooooh BABY Yes, the vetiver is strong in the bottle, but when this hits the skin it is fabulous! It's Snake Oil amped and smoked. It's Snake Charmer without the fruity red musk. It's deep, husky, just sweet enough and NOM NOM NOM

An extremely kind forumite purchased a bottle of this for me after another very kind forumite frimped me a decant. love all around! I don't get any apricot out of this, in fact I was surprised to see that in the listed notes. To me it's a lovely deep but golden vanilla with spices and sandalwood.. just simple and gorgeous!

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

i know it's the black musk but incubus smelled very similar to black temple burlesque. i get zero cacao for black temple and a lightly sweet black musk from incubus. Try Haunted. They are VERY similar to my nose -
This. Smells. Terrible. It's how I would imagine a dirty little gnome would smell-- bitter, biting, body odor
-
Goes on bright, crisp, wet and flowery. Reminds me of a typical summery scent or cooling spritz. Unfortunately the vetiver starts to slooooowly creep out and eventually this smells bitter and dank ETA: some folks have expressed interest in a another blend that smells similar minus the vetiver and I'd have to say that sans veitver Yurei is VERY much like Kumiho. FYI

Vaguely underwhelmed with this one. It was the only Irredeemable blend I thought would be a sure bet.. and yet.. It goes on lovely-- bright juicy fruit and swirling incense, a little brighter than I expected. It's just a little generic feeling to me. I have so many wonderful incense/resin that this one doesnt stand apart. When it dries down the fruit is gone completely and it's a nice, light powdery amber. Which I like, but again.. not outstanding. *sigh*

This is one of the lightest/faintest BPALs I've tried in a very long while. It is gorgeous, as everyone has said. It's creamy and warm, spicy, coconutty, slightly licoricey.. The vibe is creamy sweet and faintly herbal. I'm hoping that with aging it'll deepen and become stronger. Maybe this blend doesn't register in my brain for some reason (?) because everyone else here seems to be able to smell it more than me...

Immediately it's black musk and geranium.. I LOVE black musk, but I wasn't sure how the geranium would mix with it. The result is kinda sour and green (I'm used to black musk being warm and incensey). I don't really get much tonka. Overall it's slightly bitter, deep and dark.. fairly masculine. ETA: 06.22.10 Eeehhh.. this has turned into a sour, bitter mess with only a month of aging in the imp. I brought it out to let my boyfriend have a try with it, and when we opened it we both said "eeew!" I'm not sure what happened but all the musk seems to have given way to the geranium-- it smells like crushed, stinky weeds out in the woods.

I agree with raisin.. I smell licorice here (fine by me!) This is definitely got what I was expecting.. I was thinking a sweet "rock" note a la Black Opal or Inganok Jewlers mixed with maybe wet moss, or black musk, or vetiver or.... This is primarily "green" to me, albeit a dark green. There is a high note that I would describe as a little cologney.. the throw reminds of me of an Armani perfume an ex bf used to wear (I liked it) It's a little herbal, but in a sweet way-- licorice, light mint. It's becoming very light with wear.. Kinda hard for me to pin down! I like it, but I will definitely need to test it a bit more before deciding on a bottle. I'm intrigued.

This smells equally nice on both my boyfriend and I, so it's definitely unisex. Also worth noting.. there was practically no morphing from the bottle scent on either of us-- it stayed very true. It's a little sweet and quite dry. Mostly light, clean leather.. spiced slightly by the amber and clove, with a distinct whiff of sage. The image I get is very clean, smooth, and pale. This one struck me as lovely immediately (often happens with blends I wind up really liking), and I could see myself getting a partial bottle- it's fairly strong for such a light feeling blend.

Perfection! So glad I got two bottles! It's black musk, champaca, ambergris and anise.. beautifully mixed-- smooth and deep, no sharp edges. I agree there is a Snake Charmer feel to it. As it fades down its mostly glorious black musk. YUMMMM nom nom nom

Love panther moon!

Fantastic! I got a lot of amber when first applied, but as it dries it is mostly opium.. and boy is it yummy It smells like velvet feels.. not really warm, but thick and lush and dusty and deeply colored. I also wish i could get a bit more plum, but we'll see if it comes out in time.. even so this is a delicious blend!

In the bottle and first on the skin its as everyone has said-- creamy, warm, not over the top cherry (but still cherry for sure). Over time the cherry dies out completely on me and I'm left with a light musk. It does go through a dusty plastic stage as many scents with vanilla-ish notes do on me, but it eventually passes. Really nice Thanks so much to my Bat's Day angel for giving me the opportunity to try this!

This smells a little fishy in the imp-- that'd be the lemongrass. I always think it smells fishy It does become a lovely, sweet, lemony candy scent on the skin. Unfortunately it dries down to dusty plastic which happens with some sweet scents on me I'll give it another shot in a few days.

Orris, sandalwood and vanilla, yum yum yum Agree that it's similar to Silver Phoenix and Black Opal. It doesn't have quite the throw/wear length that either of those have on me, but it is really lovely-- dry, warm, comfy, slightly girlie.. an easy scent to wear. Will likely get a bottle or two

Feels a lot like Midnight Mass to me, but with more depth-- there's roses and spices. I get more pipe tobacco as it dries down. Very nice

The note I believe I smell first and foremost is ambergris. I always associate it with an "old fashioned" feel, and this does remind me of times I've smelled very old perfume oils that have sat on a vanity for years. On my skin I get a lot of the orange water coming out, which is really nice.. and with the ambergris the result is kind of coppery-- deep but with a high pitched shine too (I'm reminded of Khyrsee). Aside from the two notes I've already mentioned, I can't really pick the rest out (probably because I'm not familiar with them all). The good news for some may be that I don't really get much rose from this. It fades fairly quick, which is kinda good because it is pretty strong at first, and becomes an ambery, musky whisper. It's nice, and I was surprised at how unique it is in all the BPAL I've sniffed thus far. I'm not sure a bottle is for me, but I am interested in testing it some more.

Very "perfumey" smelled to me. I just mean that it's well blended so that I really just get "flowers" and "fruits" as first impressions. It goes on very sweet, and some spiciness opens up, which is pleasant. Over time it fades down to a crisp brightness-- I'm guessing primarily the lotus and peach. Pretty, but not really me

This goes on very buttery with a hint of dry bread and cucumber. On my skin it begins to move towards bright green high pitched florals fairly quickly-- the effect is bright flowery cucumbers. The cake/bread adds a dry note that eventually goes a little dusty plasticy. I like this when it first goes on, but it doesn't last long and I was surprised by how flowery it became. Then it fades out pretty fast.
