This reminds me of Blood and Blood Kiss, but it's been a while since I've tried either of those blends, so my impression might be way off there. I get the same thick cherry cough syrup + decaying dragon's blood impression here that I remember from Blood. Dragon's blood often smells like rotting flowers & fruit on me :/. As it dries down, it's less medicinal and bitter, and a sweetness starts to come out. It's sort of like a hint of honeyed tobacco or burnt sugar underneath the fermented, sickly fruitiness. Over time, a mulling spiciness amps up over the sweetness. My husband said this smells like rotten fruit on me, so I don't think that this is a keeper, lol. I'm happy to have tried this, but it isn't really working on me.

I am really loving all of the Halloween labels this year <3.

It's been a while since I tried the released Fenris Wolf, but I'm definitely liking this prototype version more. I find this less masculine (more unisex) and more sweet, smooth, & wearable. There's a dark, sweet resinous-ness here that reminds me of Schwarzer Mond a little bit (but this isn't quite as heavy or strong as Schwarzer Mond), and I can still smell a warm red musk type of smell here. As it dries down it goes slightly powdery and creamy smelling on me, so there might be amber or sandalwood, and I'm getting a sweet spiciness as well (cinnamon or sweet clove?). I'm leaning towards sandalwood, because it does have a slight dry woods & earth edge to it. I really like this blend. It's like a woodsy resin with sensual red musk and just enough sweetness and a hint of spice to make it really cozy. I wish that I could get more of this one, because it's a really sexy scent that I think I'll wear a lot in fall.

Oils with the strongest throw or sillage - the most noticeable scents
Blood onmy hands replied to lunalight7's topic in Recommendations
Just wanted to add Liz to my list of blends with lots of throw (don't know how I forgot to mention it earlier, as it's one of my favorites). I'm wearing a *tiny* dab of Liz on my wrists right now and I feel like I'm sitting in a cloud of vanilla-floral-leather goodness <3. It has awesome throw and lasts all day on me. -
Thanks for the pics the Pom Patch labels look so cute...

I wanted to like this, because I think that the name is so pretty, but it's not really me. I'm surprised that this scent doesn't have lily in it. I get a really strong baby powder scent from the sandalwood and a creamy, cloying floral that reminds me of some musty lily notes. Mostly this scent is clean and powdery, but with an edge of musty sweetness that I catch sudden whiffs of every few minutes. As it dries down, it reminds me of the fluffy white shaving cream that my dad used when I was small. It has decent throw for about 2 hours and then disappears. I like that this blend isn't sharp or perfumey, but it's still not something that I'll ever wear.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this. I love frankincense, beeswax, and olive blossom. I'm iffy about magnolia and smoke. And I usually hate bpal's chamomile (bitter), apple blossom (soap), and gunpowder (rust). In the bottle, this smells like a pretty mix of the three notes that I love. I can smell a clean olive blossom, honeyed beeswax, and resinous frankincense. It's rich & incensey and clean at the same time. It smells very golden and pretty. On my skin, unfortunately, this morphs into a mess. It's perfumey floral, soapy shampoo (thanks apple blossom :/), and sharp smoke. There's also a weird, sickly, rusty sweetness from the gunpowder that turns my stomach a bit. After a half hour I just washed this one off, because it was giving me a headache... Liberty smells nice in the bottle, but everything just goes terribly wrong on my skin.

I think that this is my least favorite of the Rappaccini's honey blends that I've tried. I get a sharp, perfumey floral type of scent and a little bit of honey that's not enough to tame the sharpness. The drydown goes intensely soapy with a touch of greenery and a hint of sweetness. Whatever is in this just goes too soapy and sharp for me...

My first thoughts with Joyful Moon were that it reminds me of Pink Snowballs perfume oil and Castitas bath oil. Vanilla-y, sweet, and with a bit of sweet, fruity rose and white floral. I'm really happy with how strong the french vanilla note is in this blend <3. I find some of bpal's vanillas to be powdery and bland, but this is a creamy, sweet, rich vanilla. On my skin, the scent is less rose and more of a perfumey, white floral smell, but the vanilla keeps the sharpness in check and makes this wearable for me. I love the sweetness of it. Sweet, creamy vanilla, perfumey white floral, and a hint of rose and something that smells fruity in the same way Castitas has a fruity, cool, sweet edge to it. I really like this and am happy to have a bottle. I'll definitely wear this when I'm wanting something floral.

I have trouble wearing aquatics and ozone (they turn to soapy dryer sheets smell on my skin), but I was hoping that this would be like a mix of the lab's sweet snow note and a soft pine. Unfortunately, this goes soapy and perfumey on my skin. I don't smell the fir or anything pine or evergreen-like at all . It's more like soapy, sharp ozone and perfumey floral on my skin. This is definitely headed to my swap pile.

This smells like woodsmoke, black musk, spicy black pepper, and hints of sour pine, sour orange, and cloying opoponax on my skin. It starts off very smoky and dries down to slightly less smoky and a lot more cheap-musky. The Siberian musk smells a lot like black musk, which I hate (cheap, dark, musky men's cologne = blech). I just don't really like anything about this scent. Everything about it is just "too much" for me (too smoky, too sharp, too musky, the orange/neroli is too sour, the opoponax too sweet). It's a mess on me and the overall impression is just of cheap men's cologne that has been way overapplied (and I only put on a tiny dab of the oil, and it's crazy-strong on me). I feel like I'd hate the guy who would be wearing this, which makes me wonder if it's reminding me of some of the guys I used to know :/. I put a little swipe of this on my husband to see if it was better on him, but I made him wash it off after about a half hour. I just can't handle this scent. It smelled like sharp woodsmoke and cheap, dark, sharp musk. After a while it reminded me a little of the musk in Satyr, but I like Satyr and this was like Satyr + sharp smoke and sour notes. This imp is headed straight to my swap pile. I can't stand this one.

I'm not exactly sure what chestnuts smell like, but this is gorgeous and my definite favorite of the Rappaccini's honey blends. It's sweet, warm, and foodie, but also smells outdoorsy, like an impression of crisp fall air and trees. I get a warm, wooden, sugar glazed nuttiness that smells lightly roasted and foodie (but not cloying at all, and really smells more like a light sugary glaze than outright honey on me) and what smells like a far off hint of pine and a cold chill in the air. It's really lovely and makes me think of being in a park in fall... I need a full bottle of this asap.

I expected this to smell dark and sticky-sweet and to remind me of a tobacco shop. It's actually oddly clean and sharp on me, though. It smells more like the tobacco flower note in blends like The Lady on the Grey than a real tobacco scent. It's sharp, clean, slightly soapy, dry floral and a sweet, golden honey. After about a half hour, I can smell a hint of sweet tobacco smokiness coming through and it starts to smell more like what I had imagined it would. Still, the sharp soapiness sticks around underneath the sweet smoke and I don't really like this blend...

Reading over the reviews so far, it appears that I am the only one who actually likes this scent, lol. I didn't think that I would like this, because I have trouble with jasmine and plum notes, and I figured that indigo musk would be like black musk, which I hate. But I can't pick out any jasmine and this doesn't smell musky on me at all. This is pretty much all benzoin and rose geranium on me. I love rose geranium. It's a spicy, herbal, almost minty scent that I find so rich, soothing and pleasant. Benzoin smells like sweet vanilla and myrrh on my skin. The combination is lovely and smells a lot like Brotoloigos on me, with a hint of glossy, dark plum. The Night-Raven reminds me very strongly of L'Examen de Minuit and Brotoloigos. I love Brotoloigos and rose geranium, so this makes me very happy. I'll have to see how my decant ages before I spring for a full bottle (I'm afraid the jasmine might pop up with some aging), but right now I really like this.

I get a strong fig from this, and thus it smells a lot like Intrigue on me. I love the lab's fig note. It's like a sweet, dry, wooden, dark fragrance. Underneath that, I get a light mix of oakmoss and patchouli. It's a dry, soft, warm, cuddly sort of earthiness. I can't pick out anything like a mushroom note (which is sad, because I love the mushroom scent in Destroying Angel and Death Cap). As it dries down, the earthiness fades and I'm left with a light fig note that turns oddly perfumey before it disappears entirely. This smells a lot like Intrigue layered with a little dab of Badger on my skin at first, and then fades a lot in the drydown. I love every note listed for this and love the initial scent, but I don't think that it's different enough from Intrigue to warrant a full bottle purchase, and the drydown is very light and lackluster on me. I'll stick with Intrigue for a woodsy fig blend. Intrigue lasts all day on me and has more depth to it, I think. Sorry Grave-Pig

This does not age well at all. My original bottle is almost two years old now and has gone from smelling like heavy, dark, sticky resins and creamy lily to smelling like baby powder and fecal matter. It has just turned intensely powdery and off. I tried to wear this last night, craving a resin & floral blend, and it made me so sick that I had to scrub my skin a dozen times to get rid of it.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

I find that Perle von Mauren is similar to Antique Lace on my skin. Perle is practically heliotrope single note on me, though, and heliotrope is a dry, sweet floral and vanilla powder scent on me. The Witch's Repast smells a lot like Joulumuori on me too, on a random note. -
This sort of smells like wandering around in an abandoned ghost town's drugstore to me. It's oddly planty/herbal, a bit dusty, a bit earthy (maybe some patchouli), and with a medicinal, slightly menthol edge that makes me think of cough drops or cough syrup. As it dries down, I think that I can smell something like opoponax in this as well (dark, sticky-sweet, resinous, and slightly peppery). Every once in a while, I think that I'm getting a whiff of cinnamon from this, but cinnamon usually amps up like crazy on me. I kinda like this. It's odd and complex and smells like exploring around in old houses and getting into old things that I shouldn't really be touching. I'm not sure that I'd ever really wear this, though.

I actually love buttery scents, so I'm sad that this doesn't have any buttery tones to it at all. This starts off as bitter, dark green herbs and something sharp and chemical-y on my skin (almost like a sharp, perfumey sort of musk). As it dries down, the scent softens but, unfortunately, also turns to baby powder on my skin. There's probably amber in this, because bpal's amber notes often turn to a warm, dusty baby powder smell. I'm definitely not a fan of this scent...

I haven't smelled Evening Air, but the description, "The crisp breeze of a fall night warmed with notes of clove, geranium, basil, cedarwood and musk," reminds me of Samhain, Samhainophobia, Falling Leaf Moon, and Ekhidna...

Scents for Depression - when you're down and need a boost
Blood onmy hands replied to aurore's topic in Recommendations
((HUGS)) I hope that you start feeling better and that things start looking up for you soon <3. I'm sure that everyone has different 'happy place' scents. For me, I like fun, foodie scents when I'm feeling depressed (Eat Me, Bliss) and lately I've been enjoying Polynesian Pop for a fun, fizzy, uplifting scent. I find cool, clean, vanilla-y scents to be really calming too (Banded Sea Snake, Dorian). And sometimes it's just fun and exciting to try something new. New smellies are always a good thing. -
You might want to try The Red Rider and The Bow & Crown of Conquest if you haven't already. The leather & edge of musky sharpness kinda reminds me of Bow & Crown, but that's dominated more by vanilla and perfumey white musk for me, where the The Red Rider has that overall red feel that reminds me of Loviatar's red musk & leather. The Red Rider is super-strong leather too.

On my skin at first, this is a cool, clean, generic men's cologne sort of smell. I get a little bit of powdery mint underneath a clean muskiness. As it dries down, the scent warms up and smells like dry, spicy wood and baby powder. I can't pick out the leather that others have mentioned, but this morphs into all baby powder all the time after about 15 minutes on my skin, which makes me wonder if there's some sort of amber or sandalwood in this...

I wish that I were one of the reviewers that picked up tea from this blend. I love tea scents. I get more of a sweet, red fruitiness (maybe cherry, but not as tart as cherry usually is on me) and what smells like cider spiciness minus the apple. Lots of cinnamon with a dry sort of dustiness to it. My skin amps up spice notes and the fruity aspects fade in the drydown so that I'm left with sharp, perfumey spice. It's reminding me of holiday potpourri that has been left out past its prime...

Comparing the Aphrodite protos, this one is a bit sweeter and doesn't have any green notes that I can pick out. I can't exactly pick out honey as a note, but the perfumey florals have a delicate sweetness to them. I'm not good with floral notes, but this smells musky, perfumey, and a touch sweet, and it goes slightly soapy in the drydown (but not as soapy as v4 or v7; v3 is more 'clean' rather than outright soap on me). I don't care for perfumey or soapy florals, so none of the Aphrodite protos so far have worked for me.
