    Eat Me Hair Gloss

Overview: Hair gloss is a heavy, oily spray that quickly overwhelms my long, fine hair and makes it look and feel very greasy. I can't use this product anywhere but very sparingly on the ends of my hair, or else it makes my head look like an oil slick. I'm really careful with my hair and the products that I use on it. For a while, I was using this to fragrance the ends of my hair, but I find that it makes my hair fall out a lot, either from the high fragrance oil content, the heaviness of the oil itself, or something else. I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: I wish that I could get more of this. I find Eat Me HG to be really strong, like most of the hair glosses, and it smells (of course) like Eat Me. Thick, sticky, jam-like, dark berries and vanilla cake with a little sour red fruitiness from the red currant (that keeps the other notes from being intensely cloying). Really sweet, but it smells like a birthday party and I think that this is really fun and amazing I love Eat Me in spray form.

Fragrance review: I smell the frankincense strongly at first (golden and smooth and slightly wooden, reminding me of Cathedral), but it quickly settles into all clove all the time. Spicy, dry and a bit sharp. Not my favorite clove fragrance, as I kind of want something to sweeten and soften it...

Fragrance review: This smells just like the yummy smelling perfume oil to me. It's like whipping up brown sugar, butter and cinnamon into a crumble topping and having a mug of rich hot chocolate next to that buttery cinnamon crumble. I really like the brown sugar in this, and the cinnamon isn't sharp at all. I still have to be careful with this, because cinnamon irritates my skin, but it's really delicious smelling

Fragrance review: Creamy, white floral gardenia scented soap. Very floral, heady, lush and clean. Too floral for my tastes.

Fragrance review: Blueberry syrup. Reminds me of eating pancakes. I don't really get the cream, vanilla or any pie crust notes. Just a super-sweet blueberry. Fun, but way too sweet and simple for me. I find it cloying after a while.

Fragrance review: My review for this and Apple Pie hair gloss could pretty much be identical. Way too much cinnamon, reminds me of cinnamon potpourri, and irritates my skin.

I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: This smells incredibly spicy, even in the bottle. Tons of cinnamon. I was afraid to really try this on my hair or skin, because I'm so sensitive to spice notes. A little dab on my wrist made my skin red and itchy, and smelled like overwhelming cinnamon potpourri.

    Smut Hair Gloss

Overview: Hair gloss is a heavy, oily spray that quickly overwhelms my long, fine hair and makes it look and feel very greasy. I can't use this product anywhere but very sparingly on the ends of my hair, or else it makes my head look like an oil slick. I'm really careful with my hair and the products that I use on it. I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: I usually enjoy red musk, but I don't like Snake Oil or Smut (which smell very similar to me). They both have a weird, brown, muddled thickness to them and a weird, unwashed, powdery, burnt hair something in them to my nose. This is sugary and musky, but strangely flat, heavy and dark, in an unpleasant way to my nose. Hard to describe. If you like Smut and Snake Oil, though, you'll obviously like this gloss.

The Women's Song of Mourning Hair Gloss

Fragrance review: There's something very 'wild west saloon' about this to me, lol. The red sandalwood and amber smell like the best well worn wooden floors, sun baked and slightly dusty, while the honey, clove and saffron add a sweetness and almost medicinal, boozy something to the mix. Warm and spicy without being reminiscent of holiday potpourri or cinnamon. Fiery, golden, warm, unusual and lovely. Wood, amber, honey and clove seem to be there in equal measure. The drydown is a honeyed, woody, spicy bay rum type of scent.

I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: This oil is so cool to look at. Clear with blobs of red musk that look like droplets of blood in the bottle and sprayed on to my skin. It smells like The Infernal Lover ("creamy, sensual, honeyed red musk"). The red musk and sweet honey are thick, chewy, foodie-but-not, and so sexy. It has an earthy edge that reminds me of patchouli, but must be the cardamom and red musk meshing together. The red musk reminds me of warm skin and red wine, but sweet and very come hither... I really enjoy The Poem Cloud. Would be great for layering with any of bpal's red musk blends.

I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: This is wonderful, and my favorite gourmand hair gloss. It smells just like sweet key lime custard, cool and creamy and a bit vanilla-ish, and a buttery graham cracker crust. Strong, long lasting and mouthwatering. Very realistic and makes me crave key lime pie.

Fragrance review: Tart, fresh, pink strawberries and a clean, almost soapy, almost bubbly white musk. The orris adds a sparkly, creamy, powdered sugary feel.

I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: I'm still sad that this won out in the monthly poll over Crawdad Dream, lol. I didn't get any cake from the Teatime in Roswell perfume oil and I don't really smell cake in the hair gloss either. It's a clean, sharp, crisp tea that reminds me of bpal's Asian inspired lunacy blends. Lots of watery cucumber and citrusy tea. On a side note, Solstice Scents has a fragrance called 'Blossom Jam Tea Cakes' that really does smell like tea, dainty cakes and biscuits, and that is my go-to for this type of fragrance. Teatime in Roswell isn't sweet enough for me.

I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: I love the name of this, but the perfumey, sharp floral iris is a dealbreaker for me. I agree with other reviews in that there's something wine-like about this, but it smells watery to me rather than heavy, and the floral sharpens everything up.

The Geisha and the Samurai Hair Gloss

Overview: Hair gloss is a heavy, oily spray that quickly overwhelms my long, fine hair and makes it look and feel very greasy. I can't use this product anywhere but very sparingly on the ends of my hair, or else it makes my head look like an oil slick. I'm really careful with my hair and the products that I use on it. I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: Very tart, clean, sharp orange and white tea. I find white tea itself to be citrusy and kind of lemony. Mixed with the tart orange, this is a bright and refreshing fragrance, but not a keeper for me (I like my citrus scents to be sweeter and more gourmand, and this isn't sweet to me at all).

I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: Mostly a powdery, clean, slightly vanillic smelling sandalwood & white amber, with hints of tropical, creamy, sweet, white floral tiare. Reminds me of The Harp of Cnoc I'Chosgair perfume oil (notes of amber, tiare, sandalwood, vanilla, cardamom and tagetes), but brighter and less complex.

I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: This isn't as spicy or sour on me as the perfume oil for some reason. More of a tart and slightly powdery peach with a bit of golden sweetness from the crust. I still wish that it were a sweet, syrupy peach filling and buttery crust, and it is not that. My husband said that this smelled like "air freshener."

I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: Yep. This is Banshee Beat. Sweet, creamy vanilla with earthy patchouli and a slight, earthy, dark green edge from the hemp. I didn't like aged Banshee Beat, where it went slightly menthol/medicinal and the patchouli smelled off (sort of thin and dusty) to me, but this is like fresh Banshee Beat with lots of vanilla and rich earthiness.

    Sin Hair Gloss

I can't use this product anywhere but very sparingly on the ends of my hair, or else it makes my head look like an oil slick. I'm really careful with my hair and the products that I use on it. I wanted to love these and wanted them to work, because of the fragrances, but now I only use the hair gloss as a body mist on my arms and legs, not actually on my hair. Fragrance review: For some reason, the Sin hair gloss goes really baby powdery smelling to me, where the perfume oil does not (or, at least, the older versions of the perfume oil do not; I haven't bought a fresh bottle of Sin in years). Sweet cinnamon and powder, and the cinnamon is kind of irritating my skin. I don't smell any patchouli.

    Taurus 2016

I keep trying Taurus blends from perfume oil companies, hoping that one will work for me, but they're always so floral . Where are the vanillas and orientals and gourmands that are usually recommended for my sign? Why always the flowers? I digress. This is perfumey/musky/sharp floral and the rose and jasmine lean towards being slightly sour on my skin. I don't really get any patch, sandalwood or pepper, but the drydown is baby powdery. Has a heavy, drugstore, cheap floral perfume feel to me.

    Egg Hunt Grass Stain

Impossible to remove. I love all of the Easter single notes. They're so fun, funny and simple. Egg Hunt Grass Stain is a big blast of green grass - sharp, sappy and so realistic. It really smells like crushed grass against crisp fabric. I keep thinking of denim jeans for some reason (if denim has a smell). This doesn't go outright soapy on me, but it does smell clean. The sap of green grass smushed on to clean denim. It's cool, breezy and so spring-like. It's really making me wish for summer and the scent of freshly cut grass coming through open windows... If you love the smell of freshly cut grass, then this is a wonderful single note

    So Below

I usually love patchouli, but bpal's red patchouli tends to smell like sweaty armpit on me. So Below is mostly baby powdery, musky amber, warm and golden and way too powdery & perfumey for me, with that earthy, sweaty armpit undertone. I do smell some coconut in the drydown, but not enough to save this blend. I'll pass on this one. Decant of 2017 version. Tons of baby powdery amber, sour musk and hints of oily, sour coconut and woody, dry patchouli. The patchouli isn't going funky/sweaty, but it's still too much powdery amber and dry, woody weirdness.

    Loved To Death

This smells really cheap and unpleasant on me the vanilla, honey, beeswax and cinnamon give off this burning candle and cheap vanilla air freshener vibe on my skin. Waxy, too sweet, and the cinnamon amps up on me in the drydown. It just smells too much like a cheap candle for my tastes.

    Arachnina, The Spider Girl (2016)

Similar to the original, with lots of sharp, perfumey, floral-musk-opium-poppy. White department store floral perfume type of feel. I can actually pick out a gritty earthiness from the patch & tobacco and a bit of sweet fruitiness from the red musk and currant in this version, though. However, the opium poppy still ruins the whole thing for me.
  25. Blood onmy hands

    Doc Constantine (2015)

The original Doc Constantine was lots of dusty wood and worn leather on me, where this is more noticeably fresh evergreen, musky-clean cologne, and a woodsmoke drydown. The smokiness amps up on my skin and kind of reminds me of burning sage or some other dry, herbal desert plants, which I guess is the chaparral. I actually prefer the original.
